A+B is actually still used among even some of the top players.  Veteru, for example, uses A+B.  A+D and A+B+C are irrelevant with the addition of the Q button though, since it works as both heat and throw.

Anyways, I request that A+B be added, since I heavily use it for easier IADs and such.
A+B shortcut doesn't exist on keyboard. (If I'm mistaken, then by all means do tell me, but I couldn't find it and others confirmed it wasn't there) Hence no top players use A+B on keyboard, because, well, it isn't there. All shortcuts still work normally on pad, as long as they aren't disabled in the controls configuration window. Is it "unfair" that keyboard players don't get some shortcuts? Maybe, but that's for Ecole to decide, not me.

A+B, A+B+C keyboard shortcuts would be technically trivial to add, but they aren't in standard MBAC and I'm sticking to the official format. Many people hate shortcuts, so I'm not taking a stance either way.

About 2vs2, no, it won't happen. Not because it wouldn't be playable, assuming decent pings on all sides, but because it would require massive modifications to the network protocol, which I am most definitely not going to do for a "joke" mode. Tag mode may be implemented in the future.

All people having random crashes, pathset errors or start errors not caused by mbcaster being in the wrong folder, try the latest version. It should fix most (all?) of them.

Anyone who knows any way to bind custom keyboard keys for the netplay? The one used for MBR(That also worked for normal MBAC) does not work when using netplay.
It's not supported yet. Future versions will allow customizing them in the .ini.

MBCaster has been updated as of December 26th, 2007. If you are running an older version it is highly advised to update.

Hey guys, I made this thing you can use to play online. It's still in testing stages, but it's relatively playable -- you can get the latest version from the MBCaster homepage on Melty Breadthe MBCaster homepage on sandwich.net.

Disclaimer: 99.9% of the credit for this goes to the author of Caster. I just took his really, really awesome netplay tool and made it work with MBAC. Not that it was trivial, but still.

FAQ:
1) Jesus christ! It exploded after game started!
A: Make sure you have the latest version (1.03a as of now)

2) How do I use keyboard controls?
A: Set inputDevice to 255 in config_caster.ini

3) ERROR : mbacPC start failed.
A: Put the MBCaster files in the same folder mbacPC.exe is in.

Relay Information by Bellreisa

Hello, I would like to announce that the relay that we use for IaMP and SWR Caster now supports MBCaster as well. A quick explanation: relay is option 7, which allows you both parties who are unable to directly connect to each other to initiate a connection via a third party and then tunnel through to each other. This is not like Hamachi, where data is sent through someone else; you are still ultimately directly connecting, but using a host to initate the connection.

To use the relay, first make sure neither side can host (if either side can it's easier to just use option 2). Both parties should select option 7, enter port 7500 UDP, and then this IP: 209.237.242.30 208.83.220.135, which is the server where the relay is hosted. You should see the prompts "Now waiting for introduction" and "now waiting for response", and it will connect as normal if successful. If you time out with the relay then you may need to resort to Hamachi or figure out how to port forward properly. In order to facilitate spectating, MB Caster will print out the IP and port that you are connected on for you to copy and paste to other people once you are connected. Hope this helps.

If you're wondering where to get your IP address from, you can use a website like whatismyip.org or ipchicken.com, or download the Gateway IP Monitor from Netikus.

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: MB:AC ver.B Tier list?
« on: September 05, 2007, 09:02:26 PM »
All this talk about top tier whoring makes me sad.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with top tier whoring be it you're Japanese, American, European, Martian, Mooninite, etc.  Looking down on someone for wanting to win in a competitive game by picking the best of the best is retarded.  Let people play how they want to play, be it tier whoring or not.

vs.

Quote
The only players I have problems with, and I've said this countless times before, are the schmucks that play only low tier because they're glaring retards.  In other words, people that switch characters after a new version is released because their once low tier character is now top-tier or high-tier.  Get the fuck over yourself and go do the world a favor by jumping into a meat grinder.

Can you say hypocrite :V

Changes that have been suggested I agree with:
- Blood effects
- Remove timer
- Make heat unclashable

Just wanted to say I doubt the window is 2 frames. I haven't actually measured it or anything, but I can do it pretty consistently and I'm sure my timing can't be that precise.

Just to show that I'm not just bullshitting, here's a replay of me doing it a few times in a row (which did not involve 9000 years of rerecording, in fact I only screwed up a couple times, and it was due to other things, not the 5a link). The right replay is rep03, rep00 is just an extra.

I was messing around with the game, looking for new announcer voices, and instead found bonus images that are displayed on certain dates. These are all, by the way, no point looking for more :V

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: translated team titles?(MBAC ver.b)
« on: July 30, 2007, 12:49:11 PM »
Sion + ...

Sion: Alchemists of Atlas
Arcueid: Shinso (True Ancestor) and Alchemist
Ciel: No life, No blood
Akiha: Lady and Alchemist
Hisui: Wearing appropiate headpieces
Kohaku: The 2 great Doctors of the Tohno grounds
Shiki: A midsummer night's dream
Miyako: Egyptian & Chinese Kick
Warakia: Code: Uroborosu (?) (Probably wrong romanization, I don't know what this word is)
Nero: Greed and surfeit
V.Sion: Night of the Tatari
Warc: Wiles & Cranky? (From Arlieth's)
V.Akiha: Firm Lady and Alchemist
M.Hisui: Scientifically impossible
Nanaya: Assassin and Alchemist
Satsuki: Original backalley alliance (Note: original meaning "first")
Len: Succubus and Alchemist
Neco-Arc: Biologically impossible
Aoko: Klein Mages?
W.Len: The second backalley alliance
Kouma: Members of the United Front for Opressed Beasts
Neco-Arc Chaos: By now, impossible in the Milky Way

Not completely happy with some of them, and I had to take liberties where the English language wasn't good enough. I may do more later, if I get bored.

You need the 1.01 patch before beating NAC's story mode, or 666 mode may not appear. Also, holding D or not doesn't make any difference -- which of the 2 storylines you get appears to be (as far as 2ch knows) completely random.

If we're going strictly by Tsukihime, all I can think of is... Arihiko? Makihisa? Roa/SHIKI/etc?

But we already have Kouma/Len/etc who aren't Tsukihime characters, so... Akira? Nanako? Zelretch? Crimson Moon? Hanei? Souka? Princess mode Arcueid? Some of them don't really see to be reasonably capable of fighting others (Arcueid, Nero, etc.), but we have HisuKoha and the like in the game already, so... If they limit themselves to Tsukihime/Kagetsu Tohya characters (as they seem to have done so far, other than joke/original characters) there aren't that many possible choices left.

Wakeup DP into j.236C for 3k damage and 236[A] + j.[C] keepaway for victory :V

Just as a note, mashing to reduce damage does work at least in FT (there's a thread about it somewhere on these forums), it's just that no indication is displayed (besides, obviously, a reduction in the damage you take)

I don't really know how detailed you want to get with this (I'm assuming the purpose is to educate/entertain rather than bore to tears), but you can probably find millions of more differences, like G-akiha mode in FT (and maybe older versions), differences in AC's training mode, etc. Gameplay-wise, another difference I can think of is selecting what random moves do by pressing a direction after the usual input (Hisui's stuff throwing and Len's cats (ver. B2 only))

YES! I can finally play MBAC despite my shameful lack of ps2!

(About netplay, I expect some random Japanese person will make it soon enough, otherwise I'll see what I can do about it myself (I was porting the EFZ EX netplay to MBRFT, which obviously I'll stop doing now since we're getting a newer version))

Ver B: CE Miyako and no 6c's!  It's a pretty good Miyako if I may say so.

While I agree that 6C is pretty useless, I just had to nitpick. There's a 6C at 2:33 :V
