Very nice.

Magz, can I ask you how do you do this? I would like to try some day.
http://www.meltybread.com/forums/index.php?topic=340.msg7647#msg7647

Pretty basic guide. I do things slightly differently now (mainly using avisynth quite a bit) since the B2 replays need a bit more editing (random 20 seconds of black screen when loading replays -.-").

For the timing/positioning of the names, I used Aegisub.

Realtime USB tweaker. BEWARE: It will make all your USB devices freeze for a while, then go nuts as Windows detects them all at once :psyduck: However, it worked thereafter without any reboot necessary. Also note that my CPU usage shoots up to 65% if my mouse is actively moving at maximum input. If you're playing Melty on your computer, make sure your mouse doesn't get moved around, or disconnect it entirely, if it's giving you slowdown issues.

That's odd. The first utility linked in the SRK thread didn't ask me to restart at all =\

This is for you guys who want to eliminate converter lag.

Wow, that's awesome. Is there any risk of harming the converter/stick/usb devices in general with this?

Overclocking the USB does increase CPU cycles (so your CPU will work a bit harder) but yes, it's 100% safe.

Can I get an address? I might drop by with some people if the time is right.

407
Fixed now.. I don't know why, but the forum automatically puts in an extra http..

Thanks for pointing that out.

So, according to the rules, I'm not supposed to post vids in the vid subforum?  :psyduck:

Well, my guess would be that one's for casual matches and the other is specifically for tournaments? Although I believe that rule has been kind of bent anyways...

408
There is a problem with your links. Remove the quotations and the extra http.

I'll get the videos up as soon as I figure out how to get the replays on an avi format. I am thinking of using Fraps, but I'm afraid that it may be too laggy. We have basically one match for every set, but many people just plum forgot to save replays.

By the way, 4r5 used Sacchin/Aoko, not Wara. At least, thats what I got written.

If you want, I could process them for you.
I wouldn't mind, but I'd like to know how to do it, so the whole process can be done quicker.
I wrote up a guide here.

Let me know if you just wanna do it yourself after reading.

for those using the pelican ps3 to usb adaptor-

where are you mapping the Start Button to?
The select button.. Yeah, for some odd reason it doesn't recognize the start button in-game on the HRAP2 (it does in the game controller control panel though >_>).

It's not like you need both start and select anyways.

so what is the east coast melty superstar team?

i've got 3 in my car, i want to try to meet up with you guys somehow.

oh as far as Veteru MMing, i'll pass the info along to leo. is this on PS2 or what?
Hopefully we can all agree on PC since it's two versions ahead of the PS2 MBAC. But I'm up for either really. If there's a big enough TV and someone wants to bring their PS2, I don't see there being much of a problem for most characters. The more melty setups we have the better, IMO.

Someone translate that irc quote into conventional English?
---

About the 623b...after spending some time in practice mode I can say that the loop is quite a bit easier now. However, it will take quite a bit of time to adjust to the new speed and damage outputs. Everything feels stiff and unresponsive at the moment...

Was other stuff changed as well (like the jC)?

If you're talking about the PC version of MBAC, it does seem that the timing has gotten a bit stiffer. The area of effect on her flametongues have been reduced so neutral tk flametongues don't guard against forward tech. Neither does 236C (at least in the same way it did in the ps2/react).

Update: You need to have adequate spacing between you and your opponent/the corner in order to punish forward tech properly with 236C or TK8 flametongue.

[15:39] <Ve2ru> in ps2 version you can hit everyone midscreen with 2c623b (except nero possibly?)
[15:39] <Ve2ru> the trick is, you have to do a 3 hit 623b
[15:39] <magz|lapt> eh?
[15:40] <Ve2ru> (for some chars at least)
[15:40] <magz|lapt> they usually tech out
[15:40] <Ve2ru> from a 3 hit ?
[15:40] <magz|lapt> no matter how high
[15:40] <magz|lapt> or low
[15:40] <magz|lapt> oh
[15:40] <magz|lapt> you mean 623a?
[15:40] <Ve2ru> I'm saying the first hit misses
[15:40] <magz|lapt> ...?
[15:40] <Ve2ru> no
[15:40] <S-Blade> 623a is one hit
[15:40] <Ve2ru> 623b
[15:40] <@Psyblade> how do you make the 623B hit 3 times?
[15:40] <Ve2ru> 623a is two hits :p
[15:40] <magz|lapt> yeah
[15:40] <Ve2ru> distance
[15:40] <Ve2ru> you have to space it correctly
[15:40] <magz|lapt> so throw out 5 and 4 c?
[15:40] <Ve2ru> but that's easy enough because of vakiha extra C attack
[15:40] <Ve2ru> since you can always stick a 4c in there
[15:40] <Ve2ru> or just more 2a's
[15:41] <Ve2ru> or you can delay cancel the 5c into 2c in order to allow them to be pushed back more

Picture

The Radioshack adapter on the left has input lag with the HRAP2 when testing on ReACT.

The Pelican adapter on the right has no input lag as far as I can tell.

Sorry, I don't have another stick to test it on.

REAL PS2/PS3 Converter
http://sdtekken.com/tech-area/converters/real-ps2ps3-converter/real-ps2ps3-converter-review/

Summary
Features:

    * PS3 Analog Support
    * Power Management
    * Power On/Off Controller
    * Power On/Off PS3 Console
    * Memory Card Management
    * Quit the game when playing
    * Assign controller to different port
    * Convert all the PS2 controllers to be used on PS3/PC/Mac
    * Easy and convenient to use, simply hot-plug the PC USB socket and install the driver, then it works perfectly
    * Real vibration feedback function
    * Both digital & analog modes are available
    * Support all the vibration types
    * Compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and the newest versions of Windows XP together with Direct X 7.0a or above

"Both converters ranged on average between the low 1s with 1.25 frames being the low and 1.375 frames being the high. Now all these numbers may be a bit overwhelming and may sound confusing to you. Just know that through this testing it shows that the REAL converter is as consistent as the Pelican ones when it comes to inputs.

Ultimately, I have to pass the converter crown for fighting games to the REAL PS2/PS3 converter as it does everything the Pelican one does and more. Length wise they are about the same, and they also both have LED indicator lights as well as the much needed PS/Home button. One advantage the REAL converter has is that it supports vibration feature wheras the Pelican does not."

Okay, so, I tried the first prograt that was listed that alters the USB speed, and it completely fucked up my computer. The USB ports no longer recognized anything that was connected to them, and I had to use system restore and select a restore point over a month old to get functionality back. So, I'm just warning y'all.
Quote from: Fallback@SRK
You have to make sure your USB keyboad and or mouse device can work at that speed. Most higher end devices can. Here are two articles with links to programs that can tell you what speed your mouse and keyboard can run at. It works fine for me at 1ms.

http://www.truecarnage.com/how-to-ch...ider-it-r1.htm
As for this rate tweaker, I personally don't notice any difference, but it's probably there. Maybe the change will be more pronounced on a more laggy converter setup.

Old Stuff:

Arly Update: You can pick up the Pelican PS2/USB(PS3) Adapter through Amazon.com for 11.99. Click Here
(Please note that this is an Affiliate link and Melty Bread receives $0.48 for every one that you guys buy.)
:slowpoke:

Important Note: According to the reviews, this one from the Amazon link is not the same as the one gamestop was selling earlier so I can not vouch for this working. In fact, the reviews seem to state the opposite in fact. Furthermore, the picture provided is obviously not the same adapter. Proceed with caution >_>

The proper model # for the Pelican adapter is PL-6338 as stated in one of the comments.

12/5/07 Update: The old site with usbtwkr seems to be dead so you can find the file here (mirror 1) or here (mirror 2).
Gamestop appears to no longer have the pelican ps2-usb adapter available on their website, but I'm fairly certain that they still have them in stock in my local stores - YMMV.

I was doing some reading on the forums and came across a few posts stating that the HRAP2 performs rather poorly when connected to a PC.

After running some tests, I verified this to be true. After some advice about not using radioshack adapters, I was directed to the Pelican PS2 > PS3 adapter which apparently also works for PCs.

My conclusion is that it runs just like the PS2 version I was playing no more than half an hour ago and my execution seems to be on the same level with no signs of input lag whatsoever.

So, if anyone's in need of a fairly cheap PS2 > USB adapter for the now-released PC version of MBAC ver.B2, then give this adapter a try.

tl;dr: Hori Real Arcade Pro 2 works perfectly with this PS2 > USB adapter.

How about 2x OTG on Akiha/AkaAkiha?
Hmmm, I did the tests for her but completely forgot to list her. Updated. Thanks.

424
How's the 623-loop timing different? 2C's easier to connect or lag on the 623B input more forgiving?
2C timing is more lenient. 623B now comes with less nonsense. No character is immune/impossible to 623B loop in MBAC, even the neko-arcs.

Akiha Vermillion / Vermillion Akiha Character Specifics (623B/2xOTG)
« on: July 23, 2007, 11:53:49 AM »
Special thanks to Vet for helping me with the 2xOTG combos.

References:

2x OTG Strings (as per Veteru's naming convention)
String A - 2Ax5 > 5Bx2 > 4C (2 hits) > 2C > 5C [> 5A]
String B - 2Ax4 > 5B > 4C > 5C [> 5A]
String A2 - String A without 2C
String B2 - String B with 5Bx2

Notes:
All this data was collected from and corresponds to the PS2 version of Melty Blood Act Cadenza.
623B loop timing is dramatically eased in Version B arcade and later. Most if not all characters can be hit with 2C > 623B/C from mid-screen as well.

V. Sion / Sion
2x: String B + String A
623B: Pause after 2C.

Hisui & Kohaku (tagteam & solo)
2x: String B2 + String A
623B: Pause after 2C.

Mech-Hisui
2x: String B2 + String A
623B: -

Arcueid / Red Arcueid
2x: String B2 (second hit) + String A
623B: Pause after 2C. Arcueid must be really close to the ground or she will be able to tech out.
Note: Can be hit with 2C > 623B/C from mid-screen.

Akiha / Vermillion Akiha
2x: String B(2?) + String A
623B: -

Tohno Shiki
2x: String A + String A2
623B: Timing is a bit tricky. For the most part, it's safe to hit 623B right after you hit 2C, but he might be able to tech if not positioned/timed properly. You have to test it for yourself as it's somewhat hard to explain in words.
Note: Can be hit with 2C > 623B/C from mid-screen.

Nanaya Shiki
2x: String A + String A2
623B: Timing is much easier in comparison to Tohno.
Note: Unlike Tohno, he can NOT be hit with 2C > 623B/C from mid-screen.

Ciel
2x: String A + String A2
623B: Pause after 2C.

Arima Miyako
2x: String A + String A
623B: -
Note: Can be hit with 2C > 623B/C from mid-screen.
Note 2: Ideal opponent.

Nero Chaos
2x: String A + String A
623B: -

Wallachia
2x: String A + String A2
623B: -
Note: Can be hit with 2C > 623B/C from mid-screen.
Note 2: Ideal opponent.

Len
2x: String B + String A
623B: Pause after 2C.

Yumiduka Satsuki
2x: String A + String A2
623B: To get full set of hits, pause after 2C.
Note: Can be hit with 2C > 623B/C from mid-screen.
Note 2: Ideal opponent.

Kishima Kouma
2x: String B2 + String A
623B: Pause after 2C. Slightly tighter timing than normal after initial 2C sweep.

Aozaki Aoko
2x: String B2 + String A
623B: Pause after 2C.
