And what about the people who don't like to download games?  I think there are some people that don't...
That's a myth. An urban legend.

vids are up! enjoy, irc theory fighters.

no more updates from me until mid monday, if any at all.

thanks for great tourney arly, i'm rusty since i havent been playing for a long time. should get back on my game when evo world comes around. good shit to numakie, rookie of the year, invalid combo master!
Excellent. I had a feeling staying up would prove worthwhile.

Both modes appear to be monstrous amounts of fail. The battle royal moreso than the tagteam. It would also help if they had people who knew how to play the game doing these videos -.-"

training mode videos are meh.

everyone can do comboes, but not everyone knows how to play.
I realize this is a month late response, but from personal experience where there is a complete drought of MBAC competition (I played Lain and Alt on maybe 3 occasions some not even lasting over 30 minutes due to guilty gear >_>), you can learn a lot from just practice mode, watching vids on youtube, and reading up on strats/gameplay tips.

Focusing back on the topic, I have chatted with Veteru about MB on a few occasions recently and, from what I can tell, this guy knows his stuff. I realize this isn't saying much, but I am fairly certain he plays a meaner V. Akiha than I do at the very least. Just to throw something out there for you guys to gauge.

All this said, I know I'm not the only one that is going batshit crazy waiting for Evo Vegas to happen. We'll finally get some resolution one way or another to something that seems to be a heated topic for discussion on these boards.

Yo guys, since I'm going to be helping running this shiet I just want to know what people will be using if your going to enter the PC tourney. Since I'm letting my laptop be used, and if other people on here are lending the laptops I just want to know what drivers we need so we don't have to connect to the internet last minute to download drivers. Thanks.
IIRC, the built-in windows XP drivers should suffice. Anyone feel free to correct me if this is not the case.

I'm not about to pretend to understand Japanese, but you are missing an "n" in "nihongo" if you haven't already found out.

Some stuff I use to study/learn:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_language
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_verb_conjugations
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_grammar
http://dict.regex.info/cgi-bin/j-e/sjis/FG=r/dict
http://www.polarcloud.com/rikaichan/ (firefox extension)

But nothing helps more than someone who already knows the language so I would highly recommend taking Shashin up on his offer.

Damn, I won't be able to make it. I hope everyone else has a great time though. Since Alt can't make it either, RIP Team Norcal.  :(
Curses. Oh well. I guess I won't be making it either then. I'll definitely be anticipating the match videos though.

Yo wutup fools. I might run a MBAC session somewhere. I just gotta ask my Comic shop owner if it's cool with him. It's in Newark. Bitches better show up. I'll make a post about it later.
30 minutes from SJ... Depending on the actual date, I might be able to drag some people over there.

MTP: Sorry, I complained way too much about the setup. It was probably out of your control anyways.

I had a great time laying Leo at the arcade on Sunday. Learned some new stuff as well. I hope to see you all at WT5.

Videos:

Excellent, none of thevideos there contain my newest character.  She remains a secret!   :toot:

Who cares if you didn't face me in tournament?  You played me in casuals didn't you?
I was thinking to myself "this guy isn't your average player..." before I saw your badge >_>

I only got to play Arlieth a few times on the arcade. It would be awesome to play him on console with our own sticks.

Console tournament was pretty bad due to the various circumstances (tv lag, forced to use crap controllers, etc).

Videos:

Scott vs. Me
linalys vs. Jux
s0ma vs. Kozu
Me vs. Jux (Winners Finals)
Linalys vs. Jux (Losers Finals)
Me vs. Jux (Grand Finals)

I was hoping to get to play linalys during the tournament but did not get the chance. Hopefully I get to play Arlieth/linalys some time during this con.

yeah, just split the video. one goes to tv

How much did the splitter run you? I've done some searches for composite splitters and they look like they cost quite a bit.

Someone wanna fill me in on where they announced that they'll be having an MBAC arcade machine there?

http://forums.anime-expo.org/index.php?showtopic=3045&st=0

From what I can recall, they will only be having the PS2 tournament on pad.

I'm highly curious as to how you guys recorded these matches. I heard from Alt that it was done with a laptop and splitting the RCA connection between the PS2 and the laptop.

Anyone wanna enlighten me as to what kind of setup you all were using? If it's as Alt stated, that's the exact kind of solution that I'm looking for myself.

Thanks in advanced.

Alt can't quit. Not for long. MBAC PC is almost here. No one can refuse that.
I was talking to him just yesterday. He was pretty obstinate about it too >_>

Lain executes like a fucking fiend on Japanese style sticks (that's what you guys used at WT4, right?) because the difference between his Arc at Fanime and WT4 is rather ridiculous.

Now that SFSU/SJSU are getting MBAC, hopefully we can expect better competition next year. Who knows, they might even change their tournament policy...

Confirmed MBAC ver.B (non-CE) at both San Fransisco State University (Rack and Cue) and San Jose State University (Student Union), California. Hopefully we'll see B2 soon since it's free and all...
I thought MBACverB was PS2 only? and the previous arcade version was MBACverA? Either way this is hot news for Norcal. I need to get my license, shit.
IIRC, version B arcade came out after version B for the PS2 and had access to both Neko-Arc and White Len. They also fixed a lot of the character weights as well (at least from what I've noticed). Maybe there's a changelist somewhere...
