I am hoping to find another equally shameless high schooler that plays Melty so the two of us can whine, moan, and complain about not having a car, or that gas is too expensive, or that poverty games are too poverty, etc.
I am guessing this is pretty difficult though. I am pretty good at fabricating activity for any given community online though. In the safety of my home through a computer monitor.
I'll see in the summer maybe about transportation (which in this case seems to be one of the largest factors in separating the men and the boys so to speak), and you know, actually play people in Melty Blood. :psyduck:

I actually had to do that (sleep in the car) overnight at a tourney once. It actually was BETTER than the housing option we had, which was sleeping on a wooden floor in a piano shop.

Hey guys. I know there were concerns about the trip out here last time I posted, but we've had some big updates that I'm hoping may get some of you guys to change your minds!
A.R.K. III (NOW featuring Justin Wong, Fubarduck, Lil Majin, and many more great players!) is coming up THIS SATURDAY in Conway, AR! We are expecting at least ~150 people with games such as BlazBlue:CS, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, SSF4, Arcana Heart 3, Tekken 6, Melee, Brawl, Project: M, and more! Players are coming in from at least California, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Arkansas!
Note that our tournament is now sponsored by Game On Apparel, Shadaloo.eu, Borderland Games, Broken Tier, and the Bat Cave, which will each be providing additional prizes and bonus pots for our tournaments. Solidplay we got to set some things up...I can't say for sure but I think by the # of people playing this game here I might be the best player in the state (along with svx probably), lol. It's all Tekken, SF, Blazblue, and Marvel here and sometimes people will mess around with other games but no one really wants to take it seriously.

I know about everyone on this thread is probably on a level higher than me, even if it's by knowledge alone, so I'm really hoping you guys will show up at Impact Clash or the like and at least get casuals or a Round Robin going on.
I did say I had a friend that was suppose to be learning this game with me, but he ditched me. He said the game was too hard and just went back to console FPS (:slowpoke:). Although I find it strange to quit considering he has two arcade sticks just lying around now (wasted investments if he doesn't keep playing fighters). I think he just doesn't have the mentality for it. I don't think I do either, but I'd like to think some actual stimulus would get me that drive.

Yeah doing stuff like that doesn't really help encourage people to playing this game especially in the USA where people are hardly motivated to even consider playing the game. But yeah it's difficult to have the drive when you don't play people or you won't know the next time you'll be able to but when you finally do play & you find players better & more experienced than you or at an equal skill level, you'll want more & more like I did when I first played Solidplay back in January, my first real opponent since learning the game basics at LK's house last year. If I do make it I'll definitely play with you man I know how it is so I won't leave you in the dust but Dogy knows some things & I'm sure he'll be showing up so just ask him & he'll play with you. But with your friend & you, you two just need to go to a tournament like NEC or a Melty exclusive tourney to get motivation. Actually did you go to Final Round this year?
Well there wasn't enough people for *ANY ANIME GAME* tournament and so I ended up playing Melty casuals nonstop for 11 or so hours on the first day of IC (final for the newer Capcom games are today I think).
Dogy played a few matches with me and showed me how sad Kohaku makes people so I was happy with getting in some experience and learning to stay put and respect Kohaku.
Two other people (I think one of them has an account here under the alias Rio) also played a bit, saying they had played up to MBAC and are thinking of picking the game back up when CC is released.
A few others also spectated (it does look out of place as the only Animu game there) and most of them were impressed by what they saw. I did hear one comment that amounted to: "I'd never play a game where I couldn't figure out the gender of the characters." I laughed.
The biggest deterrent to having a bigger Melty scene here definitely seems to be the accessibility issue. With everyone having a USB stick, they could not try Melty without borrowing Kanarin's stick or my stick.

That is MY opinion which is why I said "IMO" & I know who plays who down there unless things have changed & I'm in contact with the players in GA so I know exactly what's going on most of the time & I won't be back home till FR probably. Also Geek, you should ask Roku about that matchup since he has F-Koha exp.

Ok after not talking on this forum for so long because I have such a bad memory, I just wanna say I've been practicing more (Although I still suck and can't pull off a proper combo :V) and I think my character I'm going to stick with is Satsuki. My only problem is she extremely hard to learn and use so I've been thinking I need a new character to actually start with before I use her. I just wanna know your thoughts and such as to if I should try a new character first (and if so which one) or if I should keep using Satsuki (by the way my main is Crescent but if you think I should change just to get used to her better please tell me). He wants both. He likes how Satsuki is played (watched YouTube vids and all) but he wants to learn the game more before he gets into Satsuki because he finds her challenging to use as a first time character.

I've been showing up almost every week but mostly for marvel. I had a set up like 2 or 3 weeks ago but it was just me messing around in training mode for a few hours. We should exchange contact information so we can meet up.

Savannah is on the coast/beach, so it's about a 4 hour drive from those locations. I guess I kinda expected there wouldn't be anyone to play against in this area (just moved here like a week ago). Prolly about time to pick up a new hobby... :V
Well the GA regulars on Melty Bread are kinda scattered all around the metro ATL area, but the general meeting spot is GA Tech on Fridays I believe.
To my knowledge, the meetups are still at GA Tech whenever they have the gatherings hosted by FunkyP but I understand that those can't go on forever as people graduate & what have you, but since I'll be moving back in February, I'll be planning on organizining another location for Melty players to gather once I arrive there, stay tuned.

So I've been thinking, is it a good idea to keep the Facebook GA Melty group closed or make it open? Considering how difficult it is to really verify one way or another with the small numbers we have (seriously everyone I played with at FR15 was OoS), I find that currently keeping it closed is pointlessly elitist...or however you wish to term it.
