Author Topic: NorCal: Possible Regional Tournament (Read 13310 times)

Recently, I've been asked by a member of dustloop to get some responses towards the possibility of holding a major NorCal 2-day tournament. Basically, the details are undecided yet so I'm just interested how everyone else feels about the idea. The only things I can guarantee is that Melty Blood: Act Cadenza and Guilty Gear: Accent Core are confirmed games but as for date and possible venue is still up in the air.

Personally, I don't care on the date myself as long as I actually make it out there for once. But as for the venue, I've already expressed my preference for SJSU since they do have an GGAC cab. But I also hear talks of SVGL (which doesn't makes sense to me since none of those cabinets are there).

Please organize at somewhere where we can bring TVs. SJSU is fine because the bowling alley will be open late, but SVGL has no cabinets and nowhere to set up (you might as well set up in the street).

actually everyone starting out with a number of points seems better

ie you start out with 5, 1st is +2, 2nd is +1, 3rd is -1, 4th is -2

but if we use this method we'd have to play more than one game

Well if we have it at SJSU, then I'm sure that the bowling alley has enough outlets for a small BYOC (bring your own computer) for some EFZ, Blitz, IaMP and all that random doujin shit. BTW, i'm down for some mahjong but i don't know how to bracket that.

If it's at SJSU, that's generally a guarantee that O.G. NorCal will be there. In any case let's get a confirmed date and start time up here.

Also, unless ~~we're doing teams~~ (it's been done before) or hosting horrible games that only 5 people play total, one day is more than enough. Though if this is the case, let's host all those games on the second day so those people who are only interested in Melty and GG don't have to drive down for both days.

On second thought, fuck those doujin games, the second day should be Mahjong only.

If this is late September or later I may megabus/carpool up for this. If I do, would anyone be willing to house? SoCal doesn't have tournaments anymore and I live too far from other melty players to casual so I take what I can get.
