So is there anyone from NC playing anything now a days? I'm in Charlotte, and need some people to play with. All this Blazblue and street fighter 4 really dosen't do it for me. I really wish they would release MBAA for xbox360. They released MvC2 for christ sake!, give me a good game!

Oh snap a post!

Hey we all usually post on SRK and DL.

thinking about giving this game another shot.  btw, i post on SRK in the VA thread (V5 at the moment) under the same name.  living in Knotts Island, NC...not ON the island, but my address is there b/c this area is dumb.  longtime VA player...still am...just don't have anyone in the rather large scene around here who is all that interested in MB.  i have to drive 45 min. (on average) to game in SoVA as it is...so, i'm wondering if there's anyone around in NC within the same relative driving distance who may already be playing MB and looking for more people.

for reference, i'm primarily a Tekken player (sciolist on TekkenZaibatsu)...also play SF IV...and a little bit of HDR, MB:AC, AH, 3S and A3.

Yeah, but it's mainly Greensboro/RDU playing.

WHAT UP.

We sure do play some anime games. Our last tournament had a turnout of 15, but unfortunately Brandino couldn't make it out. Full moon is really popular here.

Yeah, so we talk about gatherings way more on SRK/DL. Games are generally in Raleigh at NC State or my apartment, or in Greensboro at another guy's place.

Kinda excited we can all settle on a game for once though.  :prinny:

NECX. GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE!

*NON*Hype edit: So how's the MB scene going in NC? Sort of sad-face that I'm missing out on its growth...
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: Chie Satonaka September 29, 2009, 06:35:12 AM
hate hate hate

So any word on NC melty entering MB at NEC this year? This tourney could possibly be the biggest MB tourney we've had since EVO 07. It'd be a shame for NC to miss out and being able to play the best of the best...unless they're too busy with SF4 or w/e else you guys play.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: PWS September 29, 2009, 07:41:46 AM
I decided we'd just handle that with PMs. It's not going to be productive whining to you and Jon about it.

Yeah man, I think I'm the only guy (besides yourself) that's signed up for NEC for anything. I posted up on SRK a few weeks ago trying to hype it up. Looking forward to it. I missed last year because of the accident I was in, but I went the two years prior. Or just one? I dunno, but it was pretty nice. I hear the hotel is better this time, which is great, but I'll miss the cheesesteaks at the diner that was across teh street.

This sounds like some fun actually. I really wish this game could become more main stream popular though. At least there is a scene going on. Maybe we all could get together or met at NEC hopefully. I'm in Durham, NC on a off note. Just in case there is someone else near by.:D

I'm in Raleigh. Most of the Melty players are around this area. One guy that plays F. Kouma lives on Fayetteville road in Durham, there's a few players at NC State in Raleigh, me and Jon also in Raleigh, Brandino in Goldsboro (when he's not temporarily based elsewhere) and Matt/James are in Greenville. We get together and play fairly often.

THIS WEEKEND is a tournament in Greensboro which several of us are travelling to. If you want to go, it'll start around 12 and run up to around 11 or so, but you can leave whenever. Thread for info and everything else:

Do you have a Dustloop account? The lot of us generally discuss meetups and talk there, in the "New North Carolina thread" in the match finder forum. We don't play GG or BB as much as we play Melty atm, thing is so few of us read/check Bread.

Sorry to hear about the cash, but you could possibly catch a ride. Most people do that, the car I'm travelling in will have four guys or so. If said Durham Kouma player is willing, I don't see why you couldn't tag along. There's no fee to play casually at the tournament. So long as you have enough for maybe a little gas and something to eat, you'd be fine. It is certainly an all-day affair, though.

Yeah, nice to meet you. My name is Brent. I'm purify or purifyweirdsoul elsewhere.

Hey all, thought I'd  meet some Melty Blood players in NC. I've visited this site before when I first got AC on my computer, but now that I'm getting AA either tomorrow or Friday, I actually want to sit down and learn this game for real. Anyways, just thought I'd introduce myself.

Me and my friend who is also learning MB stay in Pembroke NC (southern NC past Fayettville).  I'm also in the Raleigh area whenever I visit family, but I'm usually only there maybe once a month.

But yeah, I sometimes show up at Lucky's or Gamfrog, but I haven't been anywhere really since November.

Hey guys, I'm Arkaether. I was the random guy who was with ehrik at FR, for anyone who went. I live in Hillsborough, close to the CH/Durham area, but most of the time I'm at dorms in UNC in Chapel Hill. FR was really awesome so I'm trying to get more involved in the melty scene, but I don't have a license/car. I can still take the bus, though.

I was wondering if there was anyone else around my area I could hang out with, and if there's any regular place/time for melty meetups? Thanks.

We usually have most of our gatherings over at NCSU in Raleigh and we have a couple of people who lives in Durham. You're best bet would be to get at us on SRK since thats where we usually post.

How's it going, NC. This is the White Len player that was at the last gathering at Lucky's. Brandino, thank you for not taking it easy on me. Gotta get used to that charge overhead and command dash/grab quick.

I should be able to stay the whole day at the next gathering and I'll be putting up more of a fight.

Roski you should be able to break in both directions. I've done it defensively while getting pressured in the corner and offensively when trying to do some mixup. Also as far as I know when you use 4/6E it inputs A+D so its the same.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: roski April 09, 2010, 08:40:34 AM
Thanks. What I'm really wondering is if you can break holding downback and hitting the E button. I feel like I've reacted to some but wasn't sure if I was at 4 or 6 and I didn't get a break.

Gamefrog has problems. Go to Lucky's.

Things beyond Edward's control prevent there being good fighting game tournaments (no CRTs, mixed consoles, curfew, him being kinda at the mercy of the management). At a casual level, it's okay, but you're still on shared time and space.

Brandon your name meme is kinda wtf and there's a typo in your sig.

Roski, what were those combos you were telling me again? Something like, using an A after an overhead in the corner to set up a wallbounce loop.

What I was talking about, and this only works in the corner afaik:
(As optional) > 5B > 6B > 5C > 6C > link 214B > air combo (like, j.C to j.6C to relaunch etc). If you guard break somebody, that's what to go for in my o.

The name is a inside joke and same for the sig...hell I didn't even know there was a typo lol.

Constructive edit:

EZ mode Ries Combo IIRC... blah blah groundstring > 2C>214A(?) > J.[C] > J.C> J.6C> *land* J.A>J.C>J.C>AT

I don't see how 214A to charged j.C is possible? Otherwise I found what Roski was talking about I believe. Anyways, who plays Melty and IS going to Evo?
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: roski April 15, 2010, 06:19:20 AM
Brent...it's been a while...but...

-in most any ground combo in the open, you can add in 6B for additional damage.
-i think in most all combo situations, 2A 5A 5B 6B 5C xx initiative heat xx 5B 5C xx arc drive works as well

-in the corner, combo into the 2C xx 214A, juggle with 5A (5B works too iirc) and then jump cancel jA j6C land jC j6C etc

It's been a bit but I think that's it. I'm pretty sure there's a way to wall bounce twice and then get the jC djC airthrow.

Random:
-2B clashes a lot; cancel into DP
-you can airdash cancel her jA
-you don't usually use normal jump 6C for corner pressure but you can get people stuck in the corner with this bitch
-against some (?) characters in some situations, you can hop over them while grounded for mixup
-mix uncharged 214A (whiff)/6C (charged or uncharged)/charged (or early released) 214B at the end of your strings. shit like this keeps people on their toes and you can hit them grounded when they're trying to jump away. do the string and the ender and see how far away you are. shit like string into 214A whiff immediately 5B 5C and see what happened. If you need to get closer to pressure better, end it with 6C or something - if it hit, end with Cello.

Don't know how much of this is *right* but it was starting to work for me.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: PWS April 15, 2010, 06:48:21 AM
I already do/know most of that, but thanks. 6B is good in combos so long as it's a sweep > 214A, since long gatling > 5C to 214A whiffs. Stringing her normals together in combos has odd timing...seems like sometimes I hold 6B just a few frames or something and it doesn't come out immediately because of that or something. It's not like I DON'T KNOW about the move existing or being used in strings or that basic 214A whiff stuff, that's mostly how I was hitting Austin at the gathering, he'd try to swing after that and I got him with 5B or whatever. I think I tried that on you and got a V Akiha 5C in the face. How fast is that move?

Clash DP is cool yeah. I've gotten lucky recently and just had the 2B hit people and got air combos, woo.

The thing I was really curious about was that two wall bounce thing. I know it's possible, think I did it to Aaron with a random combo at Lucky's (you remember what that was, Brandon? lol). Seems like that shit was almost midscreen...might have been an odd CH situation.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: roski April 15, 2010, 07:30:27 AM
I'm pretty sure you can do it cornered, starting on the ground. Just forgot the specifics.

Long chain to 214A whiffs, yeah, that's the point sometimes...but long chain to 236A will rarely whiff in my experience, and if you can get more, more bar, and then charge/pressure time, why not?

236A after like A, B, 6B, 5C will whiff I'm pretty sure. 236C -always- hits. I got it after a 2A counterhit at Lucky's, lol. I was like wow.

Practice it BRENT!

I'm fairly certain that it works from further away than you think. But then yes that C move where she flashes and shoots is good too.

Change 214A to 214B and the combo is legit.

H-V.Akiha's J.C is 10 frames...:V

H-V.Sion's J.C is 6 frames...her J.A is 6 frames :V :V :V :V :V :V :V

Any games in state this weekend?

By the way, what do you guys think of White Len? I've looked at her forum real quick... people don't seem be fans of W Len to say the least.   :/
But basically I started trying out White Len since I've used Akiha since Act Cadenza on the computer anyway...  So far C-White Len looks like a funny character.  Illusion dashes, a 22 D that turns her into a cat, and a command grab where she just dashes up and slaps the opponent. lol... I'm mad I didn't start using this character before though. She's fun as hell.

Only thing that is driving me crazy is that when I'm at medium range, my C attacks will sometimes whiff after I combo with my B attacks.  But still, she's pretty awesome.

Look up XAQshinor matches on YT and you'll find out that bitch is dumb. Only problem is that her damage is low compared to the rest of the cast, but with the mixup game she has it really doesn't even matter.

Edit: Looks like there isn't going to be any games at state this weekend...:(...Brent? :)

I'm trying to find games too. If some guys want to come to Lucky's, we could be able to do that. He wouldn't charge us or anything. There's also those 2 MB players in High Point we could all try to get up with. Any ideas?

I was about to go "Mother's Day is SUNDAY" and then I remembered Brent-Walk probably isn't happening to Kenansville.

I've messaged those High Point players about MB on Saturday. I'll post here if they let me know.

Heh. If my parents could pick me up at 4 in the morning on Sunday in Greenville, then it could work.

Well actually I could ride home with Brandon instead and if he left early enough, I could meet my folks in Goldsboro since they go there every Saturday night anyway, but that'd probably mean us leaving the venue at like 8 =/

We need to have a tournament the exact moment a game is released and maybe Brent-Skills will prevail since you're not going to practice anyway lol.

Clayton?!  That's where I'm from (before I went to college) lol. I'm rarely there during school, but during the summer I'll have to get in contact. And that's good he's not an egomaniacal man baby..  lol

Hey yo seriously that's AWESOME. He works at CFNC which is pretty close to me in Raleigh, so longshot comes over here occasionally to eat Bali Hai (a mongolian grill restaurant we frequent) and play matches. He's pretty new to Melty, but if you guys could meet up and share knowledge/learn things that would be great. It'd also be good if you could hook him up with a PS2/the game since I think he might still be just using his PC.

Let's go SCENE! For learning game mechanics and how to win as a human being, you should get up with Matt Frank (the Tank). I understand you play Tekken too? So does Doug, he plays Lili. Calibur was his mainstay tho.

Oh, hey. I sent you a PM on SRK earlier. We're trying to play tonight.

AZ, yes, I'm going to that. I don't have a room to stay in and I don't know how I'm getting there, but I registered for it. lol.

It seems silly to book a hotel since I'm just 5 mins away, but maybe one of the guys has a room I can crash in, play some games, etc.

I can call the hotel and see if I can get a room for the weekend. Me, You, and whoever else wants in can help split the cost.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: PWS May 21, 2010, 10:17:00 AM
That would be helpful. It shouldn't be too hard to find people to split with. You just need a strong exterior to get the money from them, right ALAX?

Hopefully we could get something in walking distance. Even if I end up staying at my apartment one or both nights, I'd chip in for that so people have a place to stay.

However, if it's just like...you and me, then I think it'd make more sense if you just stayed at my apartment for free and that way I'd have a ride to/from. I'd be cool with up to three/four people doing that, actually, and the closest hotels to the con are sold out anyway.

We can talk about it tonight. It's such a pain in the ass getting things like this together since A) people don't want people they don't trust in their shit, B) nobody has any money and C) everybody procrastinates until like two days before something happens.

Brandon, let me make sure I got our plans straight...

You want to get your badge early, right? Does that mean you're staying with me Thursday night? I'm probably not picking mine up early, the prereg line usually isn't very bad and there's not a whole lot to do on Thursday anyway.

I guess that works, but I'll be working Friday so...you might want to go ahead and do some stuff on Friday, then pick me up about 6:30/7.

Oh, and this is Tony's game schedule. Keep in mind, they usually have to run console games on LCDs since that's what they get:

8pm - MBAA
10pm - Tekken 6
10pm - Rock Band

Sat:
5pm - Brawl, part 2*
8pm - TvC

Arcade:
Magical Drop 3, Fri - 4
Samurai Shodown 2, Fri - 6

Maybe he can get a few CRTs...but it's not looking too promising since Melty is the only PS2 game :/ ...could use CRTs for the Wii games too, I guess.

From my apartment. I can get a ride home from work just fine, then I'll get my stuff together and be ready to go.

The tournaments are free in every sense of the word, he usually gives out the most random prizes ever. Jon got a used t-shirt one year. I got some kind of...Dreamcast vibrator for Rez and a tiny plush skunk, like a Happy Meal toy or something. lol. But nah, NC game room is best anime con game room in the country. Fine with me. Plan on starting in the evening? Only reason why I don't plan on going to Gamefrog this Saturday is because I'm poor.

off topic: More people need to post here and start planning for EVO since it's only a month away...and I'm not talking about housing issues. We haven't really had a crack session where EVERYONE was in attendance since Final Round. Ideally what I'd want to do is just say fuck a weekend and take a road trip to NYC, get a hotel room and invite NYC/NJ MB scene for a crack session to prepare for EVO, but odds of that happening are not likely. We really need to do something to help ourselves prepare for EVO. I know everyone is on the SSF4 train still and with their randomly being interest in Touhou (lol) and VS...which I don't mind, but I really don't want to take my focus off EVO and MB. It'd be awesome if we could just get one more crack session at like Lucky's or something. Not even a tournament like usual, but just 3 MB setups and just straight casuals. I know for a fact that we have high level quality players and the ONLY thing that's holding us back is out of state comp, but I also feel as though we can still level up if we have a crack session sometime before EVO.

Yeah, random seeing this knowing my sudden interest in VS, but I really want us to be 100% for EVO this year.

I'll actually be in Jacksonville later this month, so if you guys want one weekend in Raleigh (I was thinking 25th-26th), I can do that.

Can't really do Durham/Greensboro since I'm out by the shoreline, because that would bring my drive over 3 hours.  If we can all meet in Raleigh and maybe go pig out at a stir fry or something aftwerwards, I'm down for that one weekend.  It'd be nice to meet the NC crew.

I'm not keen to reading through the whole thread, so if anyone has a place for me to stay at for that time, that'd be awesome.  Preferably free of any bugs (specifically Roaches, I know that's a problem around this area even in the most pristine homes, not trying to say anything about anyone, though), I'm just extremely dis-comfortable around them (I'd rather park my ass at a motel for the night, as expensive as that would be).  I can bring a setup, even.

It'd be great to see you guys since I had financial problems when Final Round came to pass.

Funny you bring that idea up because we usually meet up at Raleigh and pig out at Bali Hai (mongolian/stir fry) joint anyway. Only problem now with school being out is that our usual meet up, NCSU, is out. Lately, PWS has been holding gatherings and I he usually doesn't mind hosting gatherings. Also, we only do Greensboro for the Lucky's tournaments and we hardly ever do Durham outside of Gamefrog...and even then EVERYTHING is LCD.

Actually....25th-26...hotel gathering...Raleigh? Thoughts?

Hotel gathering solves a lot of issues...we get that Evo session we need, Komidol gets to play/meet everybody, and I don't think there's anything else going on at the time. I'll see what's good on SRK for the date.

At the very least, we can definitely play at my place. Hoping we can get 15-ish dudes at the Residence in Raleigh though. Hype get.

Red Roof Inn should work...usually their rates run 65$ a night for a nice single room.  Round robin for the bed?  Runner up gets under the desk.

The only thing that sucks about a motel is being out 12pm the next day.  Maybe we can run two nights?  130$ Between even 6 people is only 20ish$ per person.

Edit: Also, Eternal Fighter Zero is a must...

We already got plans for a 2-story Suite at the Marriot. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/rdurb-residence-inn-raleigh-midtown/ so I doubt anyone will have to fight for a spot in the bed lol....and no EFZ...only Poverty allowed is Party Breakers.

Yeah. The whole idea behind getting a hotel is so we have enough room to play, a place to sleep, and less worry about cleaning up after everybody. A Red Roof-ish motel room wouldn't be much different than my own apartment.

Yeah, I'll let you guys find a place to call and reserve, since I'm a couple hours out.  The sooner everything gets done, the better.  If it's the 25th/26th, than I have no problem.  I don't think you pay until you get there, so we can just split based on how many people stay.

Oh yeah and I'm debating a hotel party for my 21st B-Day in two months...most likely in the same place. I want it to be around the 13-15th of August so we can get some MB games in and PARTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! If this even brings out a couple out of state players (  :V  ) then that'd also be hype.

Komidol: We've done this a few times before and yeah, that's how it goes. Everybody that shows up pays $X at the door, whatever extra we take in goes to food. This particular location is good for several reasons. We'll take care of the details and setups etc, as we were going to do this sometime this summer anyway, so it all works out.

Brandon: lol sounds fun.

The only thing that's stopping me from doing this is the fact that I may not be able to take leave off for that weekend thanks for me already using up my leave time for EVO. I may be able to get around that by asking people who are flying out of state ( :V ) to fly in later (around 7-8 PM) and in the worst case scenario...they may have to take a cab from RDU. Or I can reserve the hotel for the 14th and 15th.

Yo Brent do you know if they do shuttles to and from the RDU airport? If so I'll just have out of state people who are flying ( :V ) people take that.

There's a bus that runs from the airport to a regional bus station at RTP, which connects to a bus that takes you to downtown Raleigh, at which point you can get on a Raleigh city bus to wherever in Raleigh you want to go.

Instead of all that, I imagine that somebody could just pick them up. If not you, somebody with a car. If there's someone that goes through the effort of flying in to play, I think the least we could do is get them from the airport.

Yeah I understand that and I was planning on driving myself to pick up a couple of people, but I still didn't want to make 4 - 5 trips back and forth to the airport.

My capture card broke, but I have my mixer, mic, and all the cables still (probably).   I'd need a laptop with a capture card and internet connection to set that up, but between the room, the gas up there, and Evo - I won't have any extra cash for that any time soon.

Several of the student guys have laptops, and I'm pretty sure at least one has a capture card. If you guys really want to do that, I'm sure we could set it up.

Probably about 7, Brandon. I usually say that and people get here later, sometimes Jon shows up to gatherings at like 11:30. I have to get up for something on Saturday though, so I'm not staying up later than 12:30.

What in gods name happened to the NC thread on SRK....

Anyways, do we have any sort of idea on who's going to this hotel gathering and what exactly do we need to bring as far as setups goes. I'm pretty much 100% there unless some random act of god prevents me on going...but are we in need of setups or anything like that?

: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: PWS June 09, 2010, 03:11:12 PM
I posted up on DL about that. I think we're covered on setups. If anything, maybe your PS2/some games?

The only newish development is that Roski can't make it since it's his birthday and he'll be with his family. No idea how many will show, but I'mma do it anyway. If nothing else, I can throw it in the face of all the WE NEVER HAVE GATHERINGSSSSSSSSSSS people, so I can then say YOU NEVER GO TO THEMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old

What's our interest check on attendance?

I can bring a setup, but I'll avoid it if I can (kinda annoying to bring the TV out to my car and such), but I'll do it if we don't have enough food to feed the game Hungerrrrrrrrr

Though I like to have one setup per 4 people.  So if we have 16 people, 4 setups (Though always two setups, regardless).  General rule of thumb for events I've helped setup.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: PWS June 10, 2010, 07:27:10 AM
I'd say about 10 have shown interest in coming, but I'm expecting more than that. This is going off of just responses on the SRK thread.

We'll be playing more than just Melty, but I expect MBAA to have two setups. Five or six setups total. Likely 2-4 PS3s, 2-3 PS2s. I'm thinking I'll make a thread in the tournaments & events forum on SRK soon so we can get everything straight and confirmed.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old

Well you can put me down for a PS2+MBAA/VS+TV.

And yeah Brent's right. Just about everything under the sun will be played here and it sounds like we'll have more than enough systems to feed DAT MELTAN HUNGER and such.

Put me down for an EFZ setup.

Edit: (And probably melty too)

Any of you guys want to take me in (nohomo) a day or two (or three or four or five) early and honestly do nothing but play Melty for 15-20 hours a day?

I'd appreciate it.  I'll buy you Ihop or mongolian grill for every day you have me there(nothing too expensive ;_;).  I'm so starved for games being away from EC ;_;.

It also doesn't help you're at the coast of NC instead of middle...like everyone else. Sort of sucks because pretty much every gathering we usually play till like 2-3AM easily

Well, I mean, we'd take breaks, maybe some other fighter, or just in general breaks for an hour or two (or I'll run training mode or something), but if it is possible I would like to play for like atleast 6 hours at a time.  Like you said, it sucks I'm so far out, so if just before the event I could stay a day or two at someone's place, that would be awesome.  I need to get out of grind-mode and into match-mode.  If ya can't it's no big deal, I suppose.

Well even with the breaks I would need at least a rotation of people to play with, otherwise yeah...I'm getting bored after a couple of hours.

Anyways, get hype for next week and EVO. With the amount of players showing up from all over the World (JP, MEX, EU?) coming to this event and the amount of time everyone has invested, hopefully everyone has leveled up and will be able to show just how amazing high level MB really is.

Matt is Frank the Tank. I think he placed at NEC for Melty? Can't remember for sure right now...but anyway, I don't know why he wouldn't be up for this since he's always like WANT PLAY MORE GAMES, matter of fact he was just salty about that on SRK. I sent the guy a PM earlier but I'll call his white ass soon.

I can't play anything at all longer than like, two or three hours...or do anything in general. lol. I could understand though if you were deprived of matches for a long time and wanted to get in as many as possible in the short time you had allotted to do so.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old

Takes me two weeks of continuous games to get bored of playing a player (Trust me, you can ask Kirah how many games we've played - yet we still go full game days.)

A rotation is nice if we can all get together for more game time, but if not we'll all see each other at the event anyway.

I don't mind doing like ft100-ft200's though.  I just want to play.  It's true after 3-6 hours the autopiloting sets in and the mind gets tired if you're playing right, that's when you just need to take a 20 minute break and stop playing stupid.  The one benefit of a small rotation is you don't really have to stand up because other players are waiting to play, though.

I start to auto-pilot after like a 6 consecutive matches with the same person so that's why I prefer a rotation over just playing the same person for so long. Thankfully next week we'll have enough people and setups so we won't have to worry about rotations or even if you want to play X person for as many matches you want considering I'm pretty sure that me and you are the only two people who are ONLY going to be playing MB there.

Oh and speaking of MB crack sessions what time are you flying into Vegas? I'm most likely going to hit up Spidey's room until Lolisauce gets off of work since I get in around 3:30 on the 7th and then I guess Myself and Kusanagi will be heading to his place.

It might of been possible but unfortunately the flight got changed to arrival late, late, thursday.  I think it won't even be arriving until 10-11pm on the 7th.  Lolisauce is going to pick up me and spooky, I think.  I don't think it'll work, based on what I know so far about the schedule.  But save some energy for after that.  Energy drinks, run it back until 3-4am no doubt.

Anyway, anyword from Frank?

PWS, I can't house you, but there are other melty groups with a space or two open in their rooms, so you should go!  Talk to AntiShoto or Shin Masaki if you're interested.  I wanna get the chance to meet you man.  Stay hype, even if your regional meltybros aren't, and make it happen.

You know I completely forgot about AntiShoto and Shin. I thought both of their rooms were filled already.  :psyduck:

God I'm so desperate for matches at this point.  Don't know if I can hold out the week for the meet this weekend  :psyduck:

Where am I driving to and when?  (Not tonight/father's day)

Games Games Games Games Games Games Games Games Games Games Games Games Games Games

I'm repeating this sentiment... on SRK and here.

Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games? Games?

Actually if Brent is willing to hold something and if you're willing to make the drive.......that could work?

Well unless you're willing to drive to Raleigh(assuming Brent's willing to run something today)...and planning on leaving later on in the evening or tonight...you're screwed.

I'm on IRC now.

I work during the week from 7:30-4:30. If you're hungry enough to the point where you're willing to drive to Goldsboro then I guess I can house you if only for a few hours.

Actually if you're game now I guess I can house you today for a few hours. Be warned...I live on base...in the dorms...they're VERY small. Whatever I'll just buy another chair or something.

I'll PM you my # if you're interested.

Edit: Exactly what part of NC you're coming from anyway?

LoliSauce, thanks, I've already got a reservation though and I'll just keep that and go. It's my vacation, so may as well make the best of it. I'm also worried about not many Melty players showing after we managed to sweep that poll...need numbers!

UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH It needs to be EVO already.

Yo anyone living in Raleigh area, the hotel gathering this friday doesn't really start until like 6-7pm.  I kinda wanted to get into town before rush hour and of course get as many games in as possible if I can stop at anyone's place like 2-3 hours beforehand and play.  I was thinking of leaving around 12pm, and it takes me 2-3 hours to get up there.  I'll have an MBAA setup with me.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: PWS June 23, 2010, 06:07:17 PM
I'm getting off work at 4 and plan on being at the hotel no later than 5. Matt should be there too and I imagine few of us will be there that early, so you could certainly get some Melty in then.

Did I ever link the thread?

Just tell me the earliest I can get to the room since I'm going to be taking care of some business in Raleigh (I used to live there!) a bit beforehand, but it shouldn't last me to longer than 2-3pm.

PM me a number I can reach you at PWS.

Also, confirming my MBAA setup.

Sucks. Well, if anyone's interested in driving all the way to the mountains, I'll at least have a copy of MBAA at Appstate's events this year.
Can't say I've been playing it too much lately though; the AH3 announcement got me playing AH1. It's like I gravitate towards games with no scene or something  :V
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old

: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: Narcowski July 29, 2010, 07:25:21 PM
Not really, though I've been working on it for more than half a year now. It's not that there's a shortage of players here, it's convincing them to all come out at once to play / compete that's proved to be the issue.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old

lol Melty gatherings are like me/Matt, if anything, in Raleigh nowadays

I'm guessing they play in Greenville a bit though (James, Brandon, Matt?).

: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old

Yeah, looks like you already heard about the session today. Don't know how many MB players will be around besides you, me and 7th if he wants to play.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: 7thfonon August 15, 2010, 11:41:25 PM
Hope to see you guys at Lucky's for some more Melty. Though I'll admit I'm going through a bad character crisis....so I guess I'll be busting out someone  new at next Lucky's. lol.
Though this time I'll be using the character that I like the most rather than just  trying to get a win with C-Akiha (or C- V. Akiha) all the time. So yeah... I'll see how that works... I didn't learn Tekken til I dropped Jin completely and used Xiaoyu, so maybe it'll be the same for Melty...

And I'm Just up late / bored and just writing whatever.....  So the rest of this is just me rambling on I guess....

I usually wouldn't even try this hard to be decent at a game that I'm this bad at, but until AH3 (as well as some other new upcoming fighters), Melty is the only 2D game I really enjoy playing...  I like Blazblue, but playing Defense in that game is hell for me (even more than Melty), and isn't quite as fun for me either....  Like in Melty, it's at least always satisfying to get a parry/shield and cancel into super, or an air dash parry into more offense, or whatever. But I don't have that kind of thing to look forward to in BB...  I know there's more I can do in BB on defense, but I still like having some kind of concrete defensive option.... like parries, sidesteps, or guard cancels like in AH..  But maybe I just need more time with it though.

Man, wish you guys were playing at GameFrog today (yesterday), I need practice!! I remember one of you guys were there (Brandino I think? I'm going by the Ciel avatar. lol), but never set up the PS2  :(

I'll probably be spending more time on this game anyway, since I think I'm done with Tekken after this past GameFrog tournament with like a total of 2 players...   :/

They still have MB at gamefrog or are they done?
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: PWS August 17, 2010, 08:44:40 PM
Gamefrog doesn't have CRTs, so generally...no PS2 games. The organizer doesn't respect the game either. So yeah.

You should go to Lucky's this weekend.

Brandon how do you go through so many sticks son. You just left one of them and a pair of shoes at Evo. By 2020 half of the anime sticks in circulation within the fighting game community will have been Brandino's at some point.

I don't know what we'll play, honestly. People are salty about Super, but BB is only popular with Blake/Matt. I could see us playing Melty sooner than a lot of games, but I don't know. I'm not sure what Q and Will actually REALLY play anyways.

I don't see people being salty about Super more so than NC getting a reality check in it. I just see people focusing more on Super because it's Super and BBCS because of the new game smell. Also I wouldn't forget Austin since he genuinely enjoys BBCS. It just seems like ever since EVO, MB has taken the back-burner from the gatherings I've been to so far. Like I think it was the Tuesday after getting back from Houston I went to Matt's to play MB and at most it ended up being James and Myself playing not even an hours worth with Matt or Roski not even playing at all. Even at the last gathering I went to at your place I really only played you like one set before you went ahead and played BBCS and Super (not that I was mad or anything since you pretty much play everything) and it was just Myself, 7thFonon and Kris playing for the most part. Just sort of a bummer that everyone more or less slowed down on MB since EVO, but what can you do? *shrug*

Hm, hope I'm doing this right.

Hey folks, Raleigh player here looking for some competitive players willing to duke it out. Me and a few friends of mine play somewhat casually, but we're trying to rank up and looking for new folks to fight.

We were in the super silly AZ tourney, though I doubt it counts for much, me and my friend made it to the semi-finals. We were so set on fighting each other, it was a real shame T.T.

Anyway was hoping for some info on what the scene is like, really looking forward to playing with y'all.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old

We actually have a couple of players in Raleigh and more through out Eastern NC (Greenville, Goldsboro, Wilmington) who normally make it out to Raleigh whenever there's a gathering posted. I was also at AZ, but didn't end up playing in the tournament  (Yellow F-Ciel player) :V . If you guys are looking forward to leveling up then you've come to the right place then.

: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old

Yeah, think he edited that after I posted.

I think Ed has a little more respect for the game now, apparently he plays it occasionally, but yeah...kinda sucks we didn't play it in Wilmington. They actually put CvS2 in (and nobody played it, Rick did training mode for like 10 minutes and then the setup just sat in training until they put GG on).

I would have played GG, but when I got my turn Matt and Blake both left the setup. Wtf, so much for playing that game.

I do like how Melty is second only to SF4 for entries at NEC though.

Could've fooled me considering Demo was telling me he refers MB as "Mugen Bullshit"  :psyduck:

I think if I would've showed up to Wilmington there would've been some type of MB being played. Sounds like the only time I hear of MB getting played is when I'm actually there. Sort of sucks that Matt's gathering got cancelled due to Jimmy and James not going, thus, missing out on more MB but whatever.

With MB having the 2nd highest turn-out (on the pre-reg list) to SSF4 really isn't surprising considering NEC is the biggest MB tournament of the year and it also have EVO hype following behind it. I expect this to be the biggest MB tournament outside of EVO.

For the most part it was mostly just Roski and Myself playing, but Austin did play for a little bit. Not a lot people showed up to this one TBH. Just Roski, his co-worker friend, Sam, and Austin. Angus played a few games before leaving for work and IIRC he showed back up after I left. Q's actually thinking of holding them on Friday's for now on to get a better turn out with the next one being on either Seasons Beatings weekend since the only people confirmed to go to that are Face and Blake or the week after.

Sorry, but you're a year too late. It's pretty much on life support with just about everyone either more interested in Super/BBCS or just lost interest in playing seriously.

Doesn't help that AH3 is coming out soon which will probably be that one game everyone gets hype for, actually play for a few months and then drop it till the new shit comes out.

Me and a friend were just playing Melty on Tuesday in Raleigh.

I'm hosting a gathering this weekend for this game and others at my apartment. I'm just inside the beltline, exit 10 or 11.

221 Calibre Chase Drive, apt 106

I'll let you know which day people decide on, Friday or Saturday. Hope you can make it. There's also a tournament coming up next weekend in Greensboro for this game, Super, GG, etc. I would link you to the thread on that but SRK is down right now apparently.

You'll have to excuse Brandino, he's discouraged and bitter. The scene isn't what it was a year ago, but there's enough of us still playing to give you comp.

Could you honestly blame me? That's what happens when the majority of the gatherings you go to since EVO you end up being in training mode more so than actually playing people. Doesn't help that when I actually do get a chance to play against someone it's hardly worth the time I took traveling. I could count only think of 1 time I can actually say it was worth going to the Wilmington gatherings...all the other times it was either a 1 man rotation or I spent more time in training mode or BBCS/3rd Strike than anything else. Whatever, I already stated that MB being side game status in NC a couple months ago and if I keep going I'm just going to rant.  :emo:

So Brent, you know if any of the State guys are going or is just Blake, Austin, and myself?

It's not really looking like I'm gonna be able to make it unfortunately. I'll still be around and try to make the next one if I can. And y'all can just call me david since most people pronounce my tag wrong.

So, David...tournament this weekend in Greensboro:

http://shoryuken.com/f7/luckys-revival-greensboro-nc-11-13-2010-a-254480/

If you can't make that, there probably won't be anything going on for a while.

edit: partially because there's nothing planned, partially because once Brandino QUITS EMBEE FOR LYFE, I'll be the melty blood scene.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: vZakat November 13, 2010, 07:58:59 PM
I ended up going to a smash tournament instead (that was ironically in greensboro as well). I'll probably just stick to playing MBAC online. I'm not looking to get deep in the tourney scene or anything, just play good people. I'll still check around here though.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: PWS November 14, 2010, 11:23:57 AM
What's more amusing is that our tournament was hosted by Smash players.

Well, Melty was canceled anyway.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: PWS November 18, 2010, 11:37:54 AM
vZakat, do you want me to post here when I'm planning on hosting gatherings? Because otherwise...there won't be anything to check. I'm surprised "good people" still play MBAC online, they must have a lot of time on their hands.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: vZakat November 18, 2010, 04:31:55 PM
You can just pm me or something, but yes I would like to be informed about future gatherings. I've only been playing melty for 2 months, so I might just suck compared to everyone online. They're good to in my opinion though.

Good shit PWS and Brandino.  You guys repped NC really well and NECXI.  Frank, you not playing Melty anymore?  Did that H-VAkiha from NC show up?
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: PWS December 07, 2010, 09:17:53 AM
Only me and Brandon still post here. No, BZB, Frank, Roski (the VAkiha), etc all don't really play anymore. Roski/Frank stopped and then everyone else did, sometime after FR/before Evo.

There's several reasons as to why...but most notably: Super, a fragmented scene, people loving the shit out of GG, lack of gatherings, and Brandino getting mad.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old

: PWS December 07, 2010, 02:07:53 PM
Yeah? Well, you have FR coming up to find people. Pretty sure there are a few players there, but the south in general is pretty spread out. You could probably find a small scene at AWA, whenever that is.

Melty Blood Actress Again (PS2) lifespan in North Carolina:

August 20th, 2010 - April 27th, 2010

Wanna take bets to see how long Arcana Heart 3 will last in NC? With half of the MB player base in NC hoping on the AH3 hype-train I say 6 months at best.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: PWS December 08, 2010, 05:23:55 AM
I'm so realtalk right now in that thread.

I know for a fact AH3 isn't lasting that long. 6-7 is generous. It'll be me, you, Matt, like two State guys and Jon. 3-4 tournaments, top 4 matt/me/you/jon, State falls off, lack of entries, sadlife NAH.

Reason why I say 6 months is because people will want to train for the side tournament at EVO someone will run and try to win it...after that though...yeah it'll be pretty much done...unless MvC3 kills it first or AH4 gets announced around that time.

It isn't helping you're choosing to stick to AC online for one.

I'd tell you to go to Greensboro this weekend for a tournament, but the odds of any MB being played there are slim to none since I doubt Brent's going to Lucky's, I'm not going, and basically no MB tournament is being ran there.

He was posting on DL about GG/SSF4 too though, and he lives in Raleigh...finding games in general isn't so hard, and me/Doug meet up like once every two weeks and have been playing Melty. Kris wants to do something in Raleigh tomorrow and I'm thinking about hosting a bigger gathering next Friday.

Lucky's will have Guilty/Super aplenty, of course.

I only said I would stick with AC online because it looked like the scene here was just a sinking ship about to go down. I'm still very eager to play MB/GG with people. SSF4 looked mildly interesting after watching the NECXI livestream and seeing C.Viper in action. But without a ps3/360 I doubt I'll want to play that much. And traveling to stuff is hard for me as well. I don't have a car so I either have to borrow my parents car, get them to drop me off, or get a ride from someone else.

Maybe I shouldn't have given up so easily. whatev *shrugs*

It wouldn't be too difficult for someone coming to Raleigh gatherings to pick you up, that's how mostly everyone else has to do it. I've never driven in my life and I'm one of the most active players in the state.

I mean, there is some Melty here, and that's more than you can say for most of the country. If you just want to play MBAC online, then that's cool, but your reason for doing that shouldn't be because there's no comp. I mean shit, you could probably use the bus system to get to my apartment.

I'd like at least an NEC-sized group if I go, though. It'll likely cost a bit more than the last trip. It's also kinda crappy how it's so soon after the holidays. But yeah I'm trying to recruit some guys.

Did you happen to pre-order your copy from amiami or play-japan? I haven't seen any place selling that game that offers next day shipping outside of Play-Asia and seeing how they're overpriced...screw that.

I already got mine pre-ordered, but I'm looking for a friend.

Never ordered from amiami or play-japan before.  I got mine from NCSX's pre-order shop.  They're expensive, but you spend a lot less than play-asia when you combine shipping cost. This will be like my 5th order from them, so I'd say they're pretty good.

I'm in Boone. I play H-Ryougi (poorly - the knife pickup loop is hard). There's at least some interest, but nobody good that I'm aware of. We have general fighting game meetups weekly, so I've been working on teaching people the game. The campus gaming club (of which I am president) has monthly LANs with both PC and console tournaments - I'm hoping to generate enough interest to run an official Melty tournament at our April 28th LAN.

I'm also in NC (Chapel Hill) and only recently got into fighting games. Also, I just love games with depth and a focus on asymmetrical multiplayer systems which is why I'm fascinated on trying out more and more fighting games.

I had some questions about Melty Blood but I couldn't find the proper place to post. Since I don't want to derail this thread, would anyone mind sending me a PM?(tapatalk seems to be having issues with that part of the forums)

Yeah it seems like the game of the week so far at state at least until everyone gets tired of being blown up for mashing.

I hate how hard most of the people I have to play against tend to mash 90% of the time - I hardly get any real-world practice with real stagger strings because 2A > 2A works too often. On the other hand, learning C-Cake C-Hime is going well, and the style fits me better than H-Ryougi does in CC.

My laptop is capable of running xsplit and Melty at the same time with no delay, so I'll be streaming casuals this Friday (and hopefully from every other gathering too)
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old

News at state people are figuring out hey I should block on wake up and not tech yay progress :toot:.  Still some massive neutral game problems, but I don't know how to explain melty neutral game.
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: Narcowski February 26, 2012, 09:45:44 PM
I feel like the "right" way to play Melty at neutral is so character dependent that it can't really be summed up easily. It's learned with practice, and that's about it. If you really want to simplify it you could probably tell them to play footsies in 2D (instead of 1D like SF) and try not to get counterhit, but that doesn't really do it justice. :slowpoke:

Blocking on wakeup is good, as is not mashing tech, but how do they deal with (endless) pressure?

Oh, and the gathering went pretty well I guess, though I didn't actually end up streaming any real matches....
: Re: North Carolina: Because the old thread was too old
: noradseven February 27, 2012, 06:40:55 AM
Yeah but I'm trying to give people advice on what they should be doing.  Really doesn't help when they are playing someone like F-Sion.  At least with the Shiki's I can say use X really good move alot.

I'm trying to get them focused on oki it is just as important as combos themselves actually probably more important but the only people who really even try shit on oki is the maids player and the nero(do a special congrats pressure).  Everyone else either just runs up and 2As or backs off.

=
Blocking on wakeup is good, as is not mashing tech, but how do they deal with (endless) pressure?

Normally trying to poke out and/or getting hit, I have not gotten 1 guard break yet, and nobody is really EX-guarding to stay in business so until that starts happening they arn't blocking enough.  I actually have switched off my main for a bit to get people more used to blockstrings because Catsuki's is a half grappler sooo blocking isn't the best of idea's against her, plus her stings last like 4 seconds tops.  Unlike when I bust out F-V.Akiha or H-Roa or C-Aoko.

I wrote up this post days ago and forgot to hit post :gonk:

Yeah but I'm trying to give people advice on what they should be doing.  Really doesn't help when they are playing someone like F-Sion.  At least with the Shiki's I can say use X really good move alot.

I'm trying to get them focused on oki it is just as important as combos themselves actually probably more important but the only people who really even try shit on oki is the maids player and the nero(do a special congrats pressure).  Everyone else either just runs up and 2As or backs off.

Doesn't F-Sion usually use gunshots for ground-to-ground zoning / harassment (to make the other player want to jump if they're not jumping for some reason), 3B to antiair when possible (leads to j.Cx6 combo), and j.B / j.C / j.[C] for air-to-air and air-to-ground poking? That's mostly what I'm seeing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6YXHF6ZtXg has some good F-Sion matches, maybe show that to the player?

I'm not really sure how to make people focus on okizeme, but you could at least tell them which of their normals are best for beginning pressure on oki - 2A isn't exactly optimal for a lot of characters.

H-Roa and F-Warc are my go-to characters for demonstrating standard pressure in this game. C-Hime isn't a grappler or anything, but I can't think of anyone else with aerial air-unblockables off the top of my head. I've gotten a couple guard breaks, but nobody seems to EX-guard - they seem to prefer either just blocking or trying to shield out.

To be fair you normally shouldn't be EX guarding except during rapid hit moves unless you failed a parried/dodged recently, like for example Warc's rings or Ciels' daggers you can mash in ~2 free EX guards before you have to block a mixup which should give you enough guard.

Dude made F-sion his secondary for C/H-Hime which was probably a good move he couldn't get the j.[C] combos to work for him well even in training mode let alone a match it is the guys first fighter after Marvel, plus I actually know a bit about hime so I can help him there.

A guy here can play C/F Maids decently at least so he was showing them some block for 5 decades pressure, and gotta watch me just block him forever, then blow him up.  Basically his neutral game is way better with C but his pressure is way better with F, once I hit either of them he loses though he doesn't know how to deal with that 3.5/4-way shit...heck nobody does...

I didn't even realize that people started posted here again. I'm gonna start lurking here now.

Nobody actually posts here. :teach:

In other news, Boone currently has a larger Jojo's scene than Melty scene. How?  :mystery:

Repost from HC:

I just put in an order for a legit copy of Current Code. Anybody in the scene that wants to throw in some $ to cover some of the cost would be welcome but not expected. If we're going to host actual events at venues, going to want to have real copies.

I also wouldn't mind lending the game to anyone who helps with the cost etc.

So I'm teaching people this game again... I wonder if it'll stick this time. I'm considering putting up a bounty on myself and giving the first local player to beat me in a FT10 $10 (limit one try per player per week), but I'm not entirely sure it would help.

NC Melty must not die. :slowpoke:

ReSe in a little less than two weeks, anybody practicing?

Hi folks. I'll be coming up from Atlanta for the RESE and this is definitely my favorite game right now. I hope we can get in tons of casuals and have a lot of fun! Being only about 4.5 hours away I'd like to build a pretty good relationship with the NC community. I know I plan on coming to the July RESE as well.

Hey ZomB. This thread is pretty much dead right now, but I keep on posting in it just in case somebody decides to pay attention to MeltyBread again. It'll probably be my first time meeting most of the people there myself, to be honest - Boone is pretty much its own little isolated scene. I'm hoping I place well, but I'm looking forwards to getting casuals in too because this game is awesome and I want it to thrive.

Eh, the Georgia thread is somewhat similar. But hey, if you have other ways to get in touch with them let em know I'm coming up and I'm out for blood. Haha. Or at least good matches! Can't wait.

Slowly tagging the replays from KDP. I'll record them and post them to youtube eventually, but here are the grand finals in replay form:

So I actually spent some time today getting melty up and running on my laptop.  So I can actually practice this game again  :)

I had a lot of fun remembering how to play at the KDP tourney and look forward to playing this game with anyone when I get the chance.  If nothing else I can play with Brentfy when I happen to be in Raleigh.  hooray!

Also, good meeting all the new people, and by new people I mean everyone not Brent or Aaron lol.  Next time I will make it a point to actually play a good bit of casuals!

I'll be playing with you guys when I come back to NC in November. It's wierd how even with all these fighting games out now, I'd still rather play Melty / Arcana the most. lol.

: PWS October 06, 2012, 08:57:24 AM
Hahaha...Rob told me people were posting here now, and it's just James from when we had the tournament XD

So yeah, PacStrife has my copy now. The only thing I want to do in the game atm is figure out what to do as an air throw combo. Everything else seems mostly the same from AA.

edit: oh and Ries in UNIB plox

There won't be any more TYPE-MOON characters in UNIB according to French-Bread.

I wish My computer could run AACC. I still have combos I want to learn. And not having time for tournaments/sessions sucks.  :(

Melty is going to be at the KDP Poverty Fest tournament in Fayetteville on the 23rd of March (amongst many other games). Posting about it here in case anybody in NC still looks at this forum and wants to come out.

Facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/events/316748228450848/

: Copy-paste from Facebook

Date: March 23rd, 2013
Venue: Elite Zone at 1916 Skibo Road in Fayetteville at the Marketfaire mall.

5$ Casuals Fee
10$ Venue Fee (if you plan to enter tournaments)
Amount of money per game is listed under the different poverty level tiers by the games list:

The idea behind this tournament is pure fun and nostalgia for the classics and old games that had so much love put into them. Don't come out here expecting to get paid a whole bunch of cash or having large turnouts per game (Unless you are competing in UMVC3). Poverty games rarely get large turnouts, they are passion games. So come out, casual players, pro players, oldheads or whatever and just have fun with everyone.

I repeat, you aren't going to make any money here, if you win a few of these maybe you'll make like 50-100 bucks, don't come here expecting to play for the big bucks. It's a poverty game because you'll only get like 5-8 entrants.

Some of these games have prize bonuses, physical items given out to the winner. In order for the prize bonus to happen they must get at least 6 entrants. Depending on overall support of the event or certain games more bonuses will be added.

Non Poverty Tier: UMVC3 = 10 dollars (practice for Marvel invitational)

Poverty Tier: $5 Dollar Games
Arcana Heart 3 (PS3)
Aquapazza (PS3)
Guilty Gear AC+(+r) (PS3)
Street Fighter 3S (Xbox 360)
CVS2 (PS2) (Not guaranteed, dependent upon someone bringing a setup)
Skull Girls (PS3)

Super Poverty Tier: $3 Dollar Games
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (PS3) (Prize Bonus!)
King Of Fighters 2002UM (Xbox 360)
Vampire Savior HD also known as Darkstalkers 3 (PS3) (Prize Bonus!)
Neo Geo Battle Colosseum (Xbox 360)
Street Fighter II Turbo (Xbox 360) (Using HD remix and switching all modes to classical settings)

Ultimate Poverty Tier: $1 Dollar Games
Mystery Game (PS3) Round Robin, Capped at 4 entrants, winner take all.

In addition to the official games being run by KDP the NCSU Poverty Team will be running tournaments of there own as well. This is the list they've given me

$3 Dollar Entry
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown (PS3)
Vanguard Princess (PC)
Dark Awake: The King has No Name (PS3)
MeltyBlood Current Code (PC)
Dong Dong Never Die (PC)
Samurai Shodown V Special (PC)l
We're also doing Arcana Heart 3 East vs. West, which is free if there is time available.

These games cannot be guaranteed by KDP staff as they are dependent upon a 3rd party running them (although they are pretty reliable and they will most likely be there).

A general time table will be created a week before the event is up. If you're planning on coming please post up a list of the games you are interested in playing to show your support for that particular game and it will help me make the time table as well.

Do people still play this game in this state?
