Not that I'm going to be able to make it but here are a bunch of questions anyways...

I read on Dustloop that you are gonna play on a LCD. Is it going to lag with the PS2?

How many setups will you have? Also is there wifi at Game Center EX?

By contribute, you mean pay for the buy-in right?

And how many people are you expecting to attend so far?

I'll try to make it if nothing comes up.  I would prefer the time to be a little earlier though, but 7 to 10 is doable as well.

Fairly certain it won't lag. I own a LCD screen and my PS2 doesn't lag on it.

I don't know if they have wi-fi.

Basically, we want to build up a tab there as they already have a system of payment per hour for their setups. Building a tab means we could lower the cost later or contribute to their arcade as pure profit. Either way, we want to make a lasting impression with them, that's why we want to keep the 5 dollar standard.

I'm inviting, at max, 15 people and expecting about 8 of them to show up. Could be more or less, but I am shooting for more. Also, we only have 1 PS2. If we had more, that'd be 14 dollars an hour; which needs a turn out to warrant that kind of commitment.

@Riotblade: Again, the time is subject to change. Since the place is open till 1 AM, it's negligible to change the time unless the PS2 provider can't make it.

8 people. 1 setup? :|
well if you only have 1 PS2 what can you do I guess

btw not all LCDs are created equal...

So it's $7/hr? And buy-in per person is $5?
If you're expecting 8 that's $40 which is close to enough for six hours... building up a tab eh...

negligible to change the time... english please...

What I mean by negligible is that it doesn't matter. It won't hurt much to change the time to earlier or later considering closing for them is  1 in the morning. I'd like to keep pricing the same. Atleast in this case, we can use extra money as a group to do something like paying with less people so newbies can be free, run a ranking tournament and use the tab as prizes, or just have more days and use the extra money to pay for those extra days.

Since there's a system already set-up, there's a lot we can do with the extra money. If a tab system doesn't work, we can just donate it to the arcade. The key thing we want to do is show the Melty Blood community is friendly and dedicated.

I understand there's a bit of discomfort in that, but lets break this down a bit.

Guaranteed people is ~ 8.
Revenue: $40
Rental: $5 for PS2, $7 per tv per hour = $14 per hour
Expense: $14 x 3 +5 = $47
Balance: $-7

We'd need enough buy-in to warrant that. Doing it at someone's house has advantages and disadvantages, one being it's free. However, we're trying to make people more acquainted with the game, meaning we have to step outside and spend a little money. Even with two PS2s, we'd still be in the red by 2 dollars.

Edit: Cleaned up the math

We're trying to get things started while we have the momentum. Don't worry, Tone, we haven't forgot about the weekenders. As soon as Southtown Arcade has an idea of which day would be good or when Ranking Battles will end, sometime in July, we'll start up at Southtown and that'll be the weekends.

You guys should probably start a new thread in the Regional Community section, and post updates there.

Will probably do that for the sessions, but this thread has been useful in gathering ideas, support, and brainstorming. We still want to encourage Southtown to get MBAACC v.1.05, and I don't think we'll get that far without this thread anymore.

In the front page post that introduced UNIB, they mentioned that "Arcades currently running Current Code will get upgraded free of charge.". Does that apply to the updates or something else?

Does anyone know if there're any bus systems that end at least within walking distance of the arcade? It could help improve attendance in general if that was listed to show people without a car (like me) a way to get there without bumming a ride off of someone else.

The front page has been edited with directions and the best means of getting to the destination by public transit. If you're in SF, I'm going with a group.

So far, we've got 13 people signed up to come out. If you can't come, I can understand, but throw the event around. Get some hype going so we can show the arcades who we are.

13 people 1 setup...? You should probably think how you're going to do a rotation. I'm starting to think you guys need some board games or something too lol

Number is climbing; I've been really busy inviting everyone I can think of. It's probably going to be an Iplaywinner sort of thing where people just cycle through. I'll use a list of names and cycle through them as a new player is allowed in. Things are manageable with proper moderation. I'd like more for people to play with another set-up, but that's not going to happen that easy.

I know someone said something about letting me borrow their PS2. If it climbs past 15-20, I'd really appreciate anyone who can bring one!

Probably not. I have stuff to prepare for a tournament stream I'm doing at NorCal Regionals this Saturday. Maybe next meet.

I actually meant the phrase "I play winner", as the person who wins stays on and the next person on the list of people gets put up.
