I'm in San Diego... I'm currently responsible for getting the KOF scene united/started down here, but I'm trying to open people's eyes to other solid fighters that aren't SF or MvC...

So far it's going good with both VF, and Battle Fantasia... Here's hoping I can get people into MB, 'cause the game is dope, and I've been playing it since I was living in Hawaii in '05...

Anybody in the area, hit me up, and I'll setup a session for matches...

@sharkchowder:  I added you on the list of players. Muwahaha.

@JINXHAND: Yo. I added ya on the top list of players. Also feel free to introduce yourself here when you get the chance. http://www.meltybread.com/forums/akiha%27s-tea-room/

O....k.. At least I'm done being buried by work. Now I need to figure out how to get my car running again - but first I have to do my taxes.

Crap.  Well, I should hopefully be able to start coming regularly again within the next couple of weeks.  Just sucks that it's been so long since I played.

By the way, congrats on Final Round, Numa  :)

WanteD, Elec, Bellreisa:  I added ya to the top. Beware.

Gonna do my Friday ffa thing again.

Also... for non ffa things, just plan it and I'll see if I can hang.  I only do the Friday thing to avoid Friday traffix... even if it is an additional 50 miles driven... :x.... but at least it's driving fast and not sitting an hour in traffic... go sanity. !!

1: It's friday. Gonna loiter at FFA tonight. Weeeee.

2: I'm talking to ID about the next West Toast. From what I'm told, It will prolly take place at Super Arcade the week before Anime Expo. Was wondering if Saturday or Sunday would be better for games like MB and AH3.  What would you guys perfer?

Couple things.

1. West Toast XVI has been added to the top under events.  Even better is it is at Super Arcade, which is across the street from Mt SAC. It's nice to have something local to me for a change.

2. @Jinxhand - Mind if I plug the Comic Odyssey in the top post? Also how often do ya set up for matches there?  I can prolly stop by when I am actually down there to visit family in San Diego.
On a slightly related note, There is a Comic Odyssey that is walking distance from my work in Pasadena. 2nd store perhaps?

Gargh!!!

I'll be there next week!  BTW, Numa, what precisely are you using for capture? It seems like it might be a good idea for me to equip my own notebook with it,  so we have backup.

I'm using cyberlink power director to record... the program is ass, but it came with the capture card.  Kinda wanna find a better capture program.

Also...
1: @Ehrik: What is the possibility of invading your place to play games?

2: Xie's "Level Up" tournie is taking place Feb 28 on a Saturday. I'm considering in bringing on my lappy there, maybe. It has Melty.  I should check if it is ok.

Hello Mar Tee.

Since this is your first post, feel free to make an introduction at the introduction thread. You can find it here
http://www.meltybread.com/forums/akiha%27s-tea-room/

If you are interested in an event that will probably hold Melty, there is an event at Super arcade this coming Saturday, 7/28/2012 for Xie's "Rebel Up" event. It is mainly for BB and P4A, but there will most likely be a MB setup there.

If you want to play the cab at FFA, I sometimes head there Friday evenings, where i will loiter at the MB & GG machine. If tournies for MB took place on Friday evenings, I'd be interested in recording again.

Enjoy your stay here.

PS: I updated the beginning thread with your info as well as the Rebel Up event.

Thanks for the warm welcome; good to be here.
I would totally go to FFA or Super Arcade. I'm working graveyard on Friday and Saturday however, so I can't stick around either for longer than 8pm, since both are about a 2 hour bus ride from my place :nyoro:. I'll try talking my boss into changing my schedule so that I can visit more often; we'll see.

Also, I'm a pad warrior atm; anyone got a stick just taking up space? I'd appreciate it if anyone would sell me one, not that I can buy one right away. Minimum wage... :emo:

I have this urge to practice. I'll prolly actually get around to it this week. Can't wait for the next round robin.

Was fun playing at Rebel Up last night. Played more Chaos Code & Melty then I expected. Also was a plesant to see Nostalic & crew come down the last few hours.

As for future comings.

- No Melty @ Japan arcade next friday (Oct 4) I'ma be trapped in Temecula.

- Nostalgic is running an Event on alternate fridays. you can go here for more info. http://www.meltybread.com/forums/tournaments-and-events/csun-bi-weekly-fight-nights-927-northridge-ca-california-state-university-of/

- There will be a Rebel Up @ Super Arcade after the release of BBCP. I'll have my setup there as usual.

- I'm pretty sure San Diego is holding something that has Melty & other fighters. I'd be nice to get more info on that, or a post on another website that has that. If anyone knows, please post here, since i have no idea whats going on away from LA.

Thats it for now. If there are any other local events, you can post here and ill be sure to add it here.

On another note....

-Rant mode-

I really do wish Melty was at super. I'd attempt something there as well if that were to happen. Maybe i can trick GG and Marvel heads to play it... and Armando as well. Then also have Watson look at the game strangely.  For it to happen though, it'd have to be something provided by the ppl. Cabs and board aint cheap.  I'll see if i can get more info on the possibility.

-End rant mode-

mbaacc doesnt work on astro city cabs unless the crt monitor gets upgraded. the options are the Vewlix, or the Net city. Right now, its planned to go to the Vewlix because theres more elbow space, and the net city doesnt have 2P panels. Tetris will go to the net city.

Melty was successfully installed at Super Arcade.

https://twitter.com/Numakie/status/389144071815442432/photo/1

Currently it is in the Viewlix cabinet. 1 quarter per game. A little bit of display lag, but I feel it is tolerable.

I'll need to obtaia VGA splitter before I can capture on the cab. That will be my next to obtain in addition to a HDMI Capture n device.

Then maybe some events at super as well.  ;D

GGs at Super & Martee's place.
Dipswitch 3S was a lot more fun that I thought it'd be. It has a totally diffrent metagame of it's own lol.
The lag on the viewlix was okay. I can play F-akiha on it but I don't think I can play c-arc on it.  :(
We should convince Watson to take out SSF4AE out of the Versuscity cab and put Melty in there. Everybody plays it on the console setups anyways.  :P

Probably 0% chance of convincing him though. :nyoro:

Thanks Numa for sharing your B-day gift with all of us!

Edit:

Whoops, didn't notice that part. I wouldn't mind Melty being on the Net city. I don't mind being smooshed in there as long as there's no lag.

I talked to Armando about the possiblity of putting it in a dual cab. It's could be done. Just gotta prove that ppl are willing to play it and put quarters in it. 3S, MVC2, and CVS2 are dual cabs for that reason.

The SSF4AE cabinets are on Atomiswave cabinets. They're really weird because the i/o board on it wasnt made to run anything other than 5-button Atomiswave stuff. But the monitor is VERY nice, better than the Net City. SSF4 however REQUIRES a head-to-head configuration, each cab only supports 1-player and it does matchmaking via ethernet. On a seperate note, SSF4 is out of commision because one of the atomiswave cabs has a problem dissapating heat, and it killed one of the ssf4 videocards.

The Net City is pretty much the BEST cabinet in terms of compatibility. It'll run any arcade board you throw at it, SD and HD. Problem is, its currently on is a 3-button 1-player panel. It'll require 2-player panel with 6-button each, from any SEGA Astro City, Blast City, or Net City.

Right, and the panels are like $80 each? I wouldn't mind chipping in a few $s if it means moving Melty to a non-laggy cab.

Another note, feeling that calling this Melty JA is... kinda fitting... put a gif of Hisui doing jA on the stream... or make a poster of a montage of charas doin jA... so bad. XD

Melty plans this week.

Thursday: I'll be at Super for TRB. Gonna enter GG. Dunno about BB yet. I'll see if I can trick more ppl to play Melty.
Friday: I'll be at super again, this time to scope out how things look on Fridays.

I'll need to invest in a VGA splitter before I am willing to run Melty events at super.

Saturday... Still not sure...

Thursday (11/07): TRB @ Super Arcade.
Friday (11/08): Arc Drive (working title). @ Super Arcade. My preliminary run at doing a MB event at super.  Hope to have the sticks and VGA splitter to record by then.

I'm not even sure that game even available for sale outside of Japan. It's an all.net game so I figure you would need network access rights just for the game to run in the first place. Kind of like how Nesica cabinets are or current Bemani games forcing e-amuse (oh wait  :V ).
Title: Re: SoCal Melty: Arcueid Edition v2013.07 (USM4AE)
Post by: scottind on November 03, 2013, 11:48:36 PM
All.net+multi is the equivalent of Nesica, from what i understand the game supports payments through it, but i'm hoping that the game can just run without a network like SSF4 does, and like MBAACC does.

Typically, the only reason to really go online is just to get patches. And hopefully, we can just piggyback off of R1's All.net servers every now and then to get a patch, since they have an actual Japanese all.net server located in the US for Project Diva.

Thurs, Nov 7: TRB @ Super Arcade. I'm gonna try to run a small melty event on the Melty cab with whoever is interested. Prolly a round robin.  Also, Guilty Gear.

Friday, Nov. 8: j.A @ Japan Arcade. Anything goes really. I'll run something as usual.

Thurs, Nov. 14: TRB @ Super Arcade again. Gonna try to run something again.

Sat, Nov 16: Rebel Up @ Super Arcade. Primarily a Arksys event. I hope the Cab is record ready by then so I can stream melty. Also considering doing another game as well... or 2... Depends on the support.

This post is subject to change, so make sure to check By Friday afternoon.
For those who have attended my casuals you already have an Idea what to expect.
We have access to the balcony (dress warm if you can). which is at least 3 times bigger than my room (which was decent, right?) however, we don’t have the ability to just go and come as we please like we can with my room. We have a fridge and microwave on the balcony, so you can bring anything you can nuke.  Since we’re not paying for games, money for food is appreciated, I have chips & soda & bottled water.

If everyone I hope comes does, we’ll have 14 people. Preparations are complete, drop by anytime after 7 pm. I won’t reject anyone coming later than 3 am, just apologize to my mom if you wake her. If you wanna bring more, that’s not a prollem. Just let em know it's an all nighter. I have a pair of matresses if anyone needs a nap but everyone's gotta be up by 6:30 am and ready to leave by 7 am.

Games/Setups
I have three laptops in house, All of which I expect to play Melty just fine. If the third is not up to snuff, we'll just play QoH 99 or something on it. Of the three I have two set up at this moment. Nostalgic is bringing a PS3 and  laptop, so we have three Melty setups guaranteed, and I guess CP/Vsav? John is bringing his 360 with ACR. Since I expect you all to have accounts here, we can discuss who's capable of bringing what  here.
Make sure to bring your own stick.

Sup guys! I'm a newer SoCal player and old friends with iPhail/WanteD. Looking forward to meeting the rest of ya soon at Rebel Up.

Also, I will be able to host stuff at my place on the weekend. I live in Irvine right off the 5 freeway (about 1hr south of LA, 30-40 mins south from Super Arcade). Doing a quick scan of my place, I could probably fit about 6+ setups. I live with 1 roommate, but we'd have access to the whole place minus his room. There's also plenty of parking / food in the area.

I currently have 2 setups (PC + Laptop) as well, so I should be able to bring my laptop to Super Arcade this weekend. We also got some other stuff hook up to the tv - PS3 (KoF / SF4AE), GC (Melee) WiiU (Brawl). PS4(?).

I'm not sure if doing something this Friday makes sense with Rebel Up on Saturday, but if people are interested it's cool. I wouldn't mind hosting in the future also.

Sup and welcome Viskar. I normally work on Fridays and don't know at what times so weekends is best for me although it is possible on Friday's, but with Rebelup being this weekend i think it would be best to do it next weekend maybe?. Or maybe rebelup next weekend and party at Viskars?.

What do yall think?.

oh man.
Viskar/iPhail hold on a minute.
Sometime this month, or early January, I HAVE TO hold casuals. I told a lot of people we haven't had attend before I'd like to host within the span of three weeks. I was just keeping myself from announcing it cause I wanted Numakie and Bell (and anyone else that attended) to take a rest from NEC and the work lying in wait thereafter, rather than shout "CASUALS!!!!" when they just got back to reality.

I've got like, 10 people outside of our regulars that want to come/I'm trying to get to come to my casuals.
I'm giving it a three week widow starting next week. And I'd like for us all (or at least 80%) to come to an agreement on which weekend is best for us to attend.
I'm partial to Saturday as it is a must for some of us.
I'll discuss it with most of you at Rebel Up, and message anyone I haven't met at Super to see if we can make this work out for everyone.

Sounds good. It's not my intention to try and replace any other meets that are happening, but just that I'd be happy to offer up my place if need be, since it would probably work well. Looking forward to meeting everyone at Rebel Up.

This is primarily a Arksys event, but I will be there streaming on the side for Aquapazza, Chaos Code, and VSav. I'll be sure to run Melty there as well. If ya'll have HDMI, I can prolly stream at least top 3.

My laptop will be there for casuals or matches and has HDMI, but doesn't support PS3 sticks. So if people have PC/Xbox sticks they might be worth bringing.

I was told LACC's Arcade has the Melty cab from Japan Arcade. Alberto told me that his friend told him, so I can't be sure until I check it out myself. Also, I'm pretty sure I will never have  Saturday off. We're gonna hafta do something about this, be it for Arcade meetups or my casuals. If LACC does have it, than we might have a reason to play Fridays again. God I just hope they fix the cabs when they need repairs.

Can anyone DM over twitter me or message me here (phone not in service atm) and tell me their weekly schedule so I can try a day everyone can agree with during the week. Cause Saturdays are done for me. It's just not happening anymore. And while I do get Sundays off, it seems like that day nobody wants to do shit on period T_T

Kind of late notice, but since I live in Irvine you guys are free to park at my place and we can carpool over to SCR together if you want to avoid paying for parking. I'm right next to the freeway so it's pretty much on the way there. Plus afterwards if anyone is interested we can do some casuals here later tonight when we leave the venue.

I think iPhail was interested, dunno if anyone else wants to also? KFL?

PM me on Steam or the forums if you are interested.

Hey, GGs to the people I played at SCR! I wish I had found you guys earlier; I felt like we didn't get that much time to play before getting kicked out.

In case anyone doesn't remember me, I was the guy in a hat who was playing mostly F-Sion and F-Aoko and who knows H-F Blade.

GGs! It's always nice getting to play people from out of state. Yeah, it's a shame that we only got to get a few matches in. We probably should've set up earlier/advertise better.  :nyoro:

Sorry for the late post, just got off work.

Anyway, talking after last Rebel Up we had some interest in some casuals this weekend. I was willing to have people over so I think that's the plan on Saturday. My place will be open all day/night so any time is OK (just don't come before 12:00 noon).

Message me or post if you want to go and need my directions (it's in Irvine).

I believe right now there's about 4 attendees interested including KFL/iPhail.

Setup Status:
Viskar PC + Monitor
Viskar Laptop + Monitor (KFL)
TV(LCD) w/ Melee

I think we have room to fit 2-3 more setups. If anyone wants to bring stuff, it wouldn't hurt to have a small folding table, power strips, or extension cables too.

Hi Dead Thread!

I'm looking to host some local matches at my place in Canoga Park. I've already got a good turnout on Saturdays for GG+R and CvS2. Local matches can be MB, UNIB, BB, or whatever really as long as we're playing competitive games and hanging out. For more info PM me or find me on Discord @ id#7624

Here's my twitch channel so you can see how it's like. I'd love to get some good melty up there!
