SOVA Melty Blood (Hampton Roads, VA)

Ok, I know there's more than myself, Kam, and Saikyo Joe who play.

Sometime in the near future, I'll be able to host gatherings regularly.  If you're from the area, and you're looking for local competition, don't hesitate to post up here.

Well we already had a thread but it was dead. I'm trying to pick up Full Sion along with Full Ries now, dropping Hisui maybe. Though, I'm only learning Sion in Full cause I'm familiar with Full Moon, and I always forget the differences between the moon styles.

I'm on the other side of the state (and, thus, four hours away), but if I'm ever nearby, I'll try to drop a notice.

Just making my mark here. I go to ODU, so if anyone is around (and has the game! My PS2 and game is at my not-college home.), I'd love to play.

Don't feel bad, I can't play her in any moon but Crescent. Gotta have my reverse beats and j.[c] combos that I can't even do consistently...

Dusk, do you have any relatives out here?

Drem, I need to get in on those sessions at the Den.  I have the game and ps2, but it probably wouldn't do too well on those TV's in there.

Unfortunately, nope. >_<

It's not unreasonable that I'd end up nearby at some point, but no money on it, either. If, for example, I were in VA BEach for a weekend or something, I'd try to put in the hour or so to get over there and play some MB.

I /might/ have some friends from there, but I don't know for sure. I think I have more friends from the Richmond area.

FINAL EDIT: In case somebody looks here and not the NoVA thread, I'm around Harrisonburg for the school year.

Playing at the Den is usually on Fridays because it's the easiest day with our schedules to lug consoles around campus, and we play at the Den because it's just really convenient to meet up there, as well as gets other people interested in the games. Otherwise we're always playing stuff at my dorm. As far the Den's TVs go, it's honestly been a while since I played on them myself but I remember the delay being noticeable but serviceable. Display-wise, Melty Blood looked fine. We always inevitably head back to my dorm once the usual suspects have gathered, though.

It would be cool if you could bring Melty Blood sometime, whether to the Den or playing it at one of our dorms. Are you on campus on Fridays? If not, I'm sure we can work something out for other days.

Dang, I can't think of anyone near there who plays.  You're in the Dead Zone

I'm on campus on Fridays sometimes, usually when I have to do some stuff in the computer lab.  I have no problems bringing melty, especially since the PS2 is not that heavy.  I'll try to make it out next time.

K.C.'s Lion's Den, as it's called, is a game room on ODU's campus. It's fine for a small group of people if that's what you're talking about. It isn't a very ideal place for large groups though. Most of the room is taken up by pool tables, and there are generally already a lot of people there playing pool and taking up a lot of space. Not to mention that since it's a public room for students, there's no knowing when other people will already be using the TVs or if some fraternity has it reserved it for an event. I guess I could ask, but since it's run like a business I doubt we could get some guaranteed time and space without paying a lot of money.

There is actually also the Powhatan Community Room, which is the community room for my dorm/apartment (I live in an on-campus apartment). It's very large and spacious and has some very comfy sofas. It actually would be pretty great for gatherings, but again there is the possible schedule conflicts since the resident assistants regularly hold events no one actually goes to. The other concerns are: 1) Only one HDTV and I don't know how much it lags, 2) Don't know if it's okay to bring our own TVs, or if there is even plug space for that, and 3) There was another concern but I forget what it was. If you don't mind actually playing there I can always inquire with the office and find out about these things, and they are probably more lenient than the Lion's Den. If they don't bother you in the first place, then that's great too. Otherwise, there is also my apartment too if the group isn't too big I wouldn't mind having you guys over anytime.

Or we can always just meet at someone else's place if that's a lot less trouble, but I'd need a little forward notice so I can arrange a ride with my friend.

Edit: Checked with the office and they said they usually post when events are being held on a bulletin board so I can double check those, and no events are ever held on weekends so the community room is free (as long as no one claims it before us, anyway). There is also a decent amount of plugs (about 3 sets of 2-plug sockets on the main wall), so we could do okay if you wanted to bring a small TV or two and extra systems. I just remembered this is the melty blood community we're talking about here, so I doubt we'd need a lot of room or TVs anyway.

Well hell, if you guys want to do this then let's get some Melty going on! (And other stuff too if you want).

Ohh, you're over at Powhatan.  There's not really anywhere to play in Norfolk besides Mito's, so it's cool that you're able to host over there.  Shortage of plugs won't be a problem, because I have a power strip.

Sounds good Drem. We can make it our Arcana and Melty, and even BlazBlue domain. Just be sure you check, cause those sound like a good place to play for a small group such as us. Maybe we can get new people to play?  :nyoro:

Good stuff at hosting Drem, we didn't play Melty but at least now we know we have people who want to play, and a place to do it.

Thanks a lot. Hopefully we can play Melty Blood next time. I'll need you guys to drop me pointers on Actress Again, though. I never played enough to get a good grasp of the moons.

No, I don't have it. I mean, I, uh, kind of have it, but the legality of my "copy" is questionable. It's also at my home in NoVa along with my PS2, so I can't play it. I'll have to rely on you guys.

Ah okay then. So this time, we're doing Arcana Heart 3 and MBAA right? I think all of us are on the same level in Melty, but its a pretty basic game so we all stand a fair chance.

Is there anybody lurking this thread that doesn't go to the HomingCancel regional thread? Just in case, I'll go ahead and cross-post this from HC:

So I’m able to host again this Saturday around 6:00pm if anyone wants to come. As per discussion last week, this time we’ll hopefully be able to buckle down and focus on AH3 and MBAA. If you don’t have my number already, PM me and I’ll send it to you so you can call me if need be (my address can be found here). Hopefully we can also grab the community room until the 10:00pm closing time. Afterwards, it’s back to my room.

Again, I only have one PS3 and one copy of AH3, so I’ll rely on you guys for the PS2 and MBAA. If someone wants to bring another PS3 and copy of AH3 so at some point we can have two simultaneous stations, that’s fine by me. Joe, if you can make it and want to bring your TV that would be fine too. The small black TV at my place is actually my roommate's, so if he ever wants to take it to play games in his room we’ll be down to one TV.

Had a lot of fun playing MB last night. I'd like to host again in about 2 weeks (I can't host next weekend), but since we're in the last month of the college semester I might end up needing the time to do work instead. If I can get my stuff finished early I'll hopefully be able to host again.

But maybe that was a given, considering this is just an extension of the regular hosting we were doing before.
