New to the boards here and I'm from San Antonio.

I'm mainly a Guilty Gear player but I've been mashin' out some MB recently. I think it'd be interesting to get a MB scene goin' on here. It'd definately be more interesting than seeing nothing but Smash going on @_@

I hardly have any actual match experience in this game and I barely know Wara's BnBs, so there's actually a good chance that you would beat me. But who knows really.

Maybe next time a tourney goes down or somethin' we can mash some MB or GG on the side durin' some downtime.

I live in New Orleans but was visiting Houston for the weekend, A guy who said his name was Xianoir beat my tail but it was pretty fun cause it was someone who cared about the game instead of downing it (KenmastersX) but I really gotta practice stick so the next time I see Xianoir I could give him a better match. He played with Len and for some reason it was very stylish. :slowpoke: Though I lost to him alot and I think only got a round off of him I still had fun. Serves me right for leaving MB alone and maining guilty gear  :teach: Im coming back to Texas for some competion when I get the money. :toot:

Well, stomp on frogs and shove a crowbar up my nose.  There ARE people in Texas who play something besides SSBM.   ::)

I live in Houston, but saying I "play" this is a relative term.  Though, admittedly, I've stuck with it longer than I did Immaterial and Missing Power (since NOBODY plays that where I live, and all the netplayers are Sakuya-playing gods).

I'll probably get castrated for it, but I've never touched Guilty Gear.   :-\

I don't think they do.  Last tourney I went to at UFO, they set up a BYOC at the hookah place next door to them, but I'm not sure if they're doing it again this time.

You can try asking in the SRK topic, they're likely to have a more definite answer lol

Random question here and pretty much unimportant/silly, but I doubt it'd be possible at all to record the matches from it if it is a main game?

Sadly I don't have my own stuff to do so (despite it being pretty much pointless to do so) but I dunno, I think it'd be kinda neat to record some of the matches, at least the finals maybe? If anyone could?  :V

Hey guys, sorry to intrude on your thread, but I thought I'd formally invite y'all to come out to a tournament we're holding in Little Rock, AR on April 3rd. We're trying to build a scene in AR and the surrounding states. We aren't for sure holding a Melty Blood tournament, but if there's enough interest, then we for sure will. The thread is here: http://www.meltybread.com/forums/tournaments-and-events/a-r-k-arkansas-regional-knockouts!-little-rock-ar-040310-8-games!/msg68931/#new . Thanks guys.

You anywhere near UNT by chance?  There are a few of us up here that play fairly often.  And by a few I mean like 3.
And we're all pretty terrible.  :toot:
But yeah, if you're near UNT and you want to play a few rounds, send me a message on msn or just send me a pm.  Or something.  I'm usually logged in even if I'm not actually there.

Unlikely given that SF4 will probably still be going on during the Melty tournament :V

There's a possibility that Josh will show up for his shift in time to record at least some of the matches if he wants to, though he'll probably be saving tape/battery for recording Gundam mostly.

Hey guys.  I live in Mission, Tx  (deep south texas......RGV)

Hopefully we can get in some games now that you have a ps2, furix    :fap:

I play H-Ciel, H-Akiha Vermillion, C-Ryougi, F-Miyako currently.

There's hardly anyone to play down here  :/  i've gotten a few of my friends (around three or four) into MBAA but most of them don't pursue higher levels of play; they like to try to mash out of EVERYTHING always pressing buttons lol and it gets tiresome punishing the same mistake(s) over and over  :/  All I can do is lurk nico video and practice.

I started with MBAA, still new to it, and utterly obsessed.  I used to play Third strike and cvs2 like a fiend but those games are dead now  :(  Now all that's left is MBAA.

Mostly SSF4 players from UFO going to Evo, fubarduck is entering Melty as well but I don't think any of our ANIME GAME players are going.  No money, UFO job barely pays bills as it is :V

I really hate that there isn't much of a LA scene as I'm really interested in starting to play this game. I live in Alexandria and I know very little about the game so I don't know how I'm supposed to learn with no mentors or a where to start guide. It really sucks to be pigeonholed into playin sf4.

Hey guys. Central AR is holding a multi-game tourney on July 31st. Official thread is here: http://www.meltybread.com/forums/tournaments-and-events/(07312010)-a-r-k-ii-arkansas-regional-knockouts-ii!-conway-ar-73110/msg76263/#msg76263

We can't guarantee Melty Blood at this time, but it WILL be played if there is significant interest. We have 2 hardcore Melty players that will be there as well as 2-3 others that really enjoy playing the game but don't really have an opportunity to get better. If anyone is willing to come to support the community, then please let me know! We want a bigger fighting game community as a whole and that definitely includes our Melty brothers! Even if we don't hold a Melty tournament, we'll still have several games that some of you may be interested in.

Thanks guys.

Alright, well, despite not having gone to the arcade recently, might anyone in the Austin area want to meet up this weekend at UFO for an MBAACC session? If there's a specific time that works better for others, let me know I suppose, I kinda prefer to go at night (around 9ish PM) but can try to be there in the afternoon or other specific time if anyone wants to meet on a Saturday or Sunday. I could be there Friday too, but am a bit more limited on that day.

Just kinda feel like planning something since I havent played MBAA in a while lol x:

Those of you in Houston interested in playing this game, talk to the Blazblue players. Most of us have at the very least played it, if not, either gotten lots of play time with it, or show some interest in it. I don't think people post on this, but thats all thats really need to be said about the scene so far in Houston. And of course, I'm willing to play any fighting game out there (except for MAhvEl), so of course i'll be down for some play, but i don't own the physical game.

Bedford eh? I live in NRH. There is about 4 of us that play in Denton near UNT.
Pfhor, Oldboy, Pat (don't know his screen name...) and me.
We usually meet up on Sat or Sun and play Melty/BB/MvC3/Arcana.
But this weekend is Evo, so me and Pfhor will be gone, and Pat is moving back to Keller for the rest of the summer.
We will prolly start things back up after Evo.
Just PM me and I'll let you know when we meet up next.
Not sure why, but we like never use these boards to organize. Easier by phone with our group I guess...

Just in case there are ppl that are going to the Anime-Fest convention on Memorial Day (or is it Labor Day, I can never remember the order...) weekend (Fri Sep 2 - Mon Sep 5) in Dallas,
and if I get the go ahead from Cookie allowing me to bring Melty (prolly a non-issue),
there will be a group of at least 6 Melty players there.
So anyone that is anime enough to go to cons in state (or out of state), but not anime enough to know that US cons are irrelevant, and that is already going to this con, feel free to come play.
If anyone is interested, PM me and I'll give you some contact info so we can sync up at the event.

Texas Tim, do you still play Melty by chance?  I'd love to get some games in with you!
Yes, I do. There is a small group that play in the DFW area.
Sorry, I did not respond to your post above b/c you said Huston is where you lived. It's like a 6 to 7 hour drive one way.
If you're willing to drive up here, we host games every weekend, and a couple of us play during the week too. (Kinda slowed down weekday play due to university.)
If there are more people in Huston that play, maybe we could alternate when you drive up or we drive down, or meet 'half way' or something.
I'm not totally opposed to driving 6-7 hours to play, but I can't do it every week. I already drive a lot just between Denton, Ft Worth, and Dallas every week.
Having said all that I would also love to play with you too. We are trying to expand our player base in DFW, and Texas in general.

I guess I can tell a little about the scene in DFW area, which includes Denton, Ft Worth, Dallas, and everything in between.
There are at least 7 players here with skill levels ranging from beginners to top US players. I know of more, but they do not frequent these forums, and I have no other way of contacting them.
In no particular order they are:
TexasTim- Denton/Ft Worth(NRH)
Denthorn- Denton/Ft Worth(Keller)
Pfhor- Denton
Oldboy- Denton
Synyster Spirit- Lewisville
Cookie- Dallas (Carrollton)
Qpunch- Ft Worth(Bedford)

We primarily meet up on Saturdays, in Denton near University of North Texas. But every month or so we bring melty to a larger meet-up in Dallas.

As far as we are concerned, we are the ONLY scene in Texas, and there are no other scenes. I've only heard vague suggestions and rumors of other scenes in Huston San Antonio, and Austin. I mean, Austin had CC for months and did absolutely nothing with it until they sold it. They hosted zero events, or if they did, no one knew about them, and they did not bother to promote them. I guarantee that we in DFW would have driven down every time (with in reason) if we knew an event was going on for melty. There was absolutely no reason for CC to get sold if the locals hosted events for it. I can only conclude that Austin has no scene. If they did, I might direct you to them, as they are like 2 or 3 hours away from you.

I'd like to issue a challenge to the rest of this state. Regardless of whether or not you have a local scene, I would like for you to post in here with where you are and who plays or wants to play (especially if you live in DFW!!!). Get a little more organized with at least some locations and names. Let the rest of us know you exist. That way, ol' CPhame here wont have to drive 6-7 hours to play. If you know of people that play, but don't post here, list them too.

With a little organization, we could get something like a Texas REGION going, which could lead to a regional tourney every 2/3/6 months (or however often people want it). I'd love to see it, but I have no proof of any Texas region. Only DFW :-\.

-TexasTim-

Edit: I guess I can edit this post with names and locations of people that respond.

CPhame- Houston
Skwuck- Auston/RGV
DrgnAK- Ft Worth(Arlington)

I see, that's really informative.  So Denton is the place to be, followed by the DFW area.  Gotcha.

I remember at Evo 2010 there were a few guys from Texas who roomed with Shin's group, but I don't remember where they were from.  I could've sworn they were from Houston or some area around there...but I guess maybe not.  I was hoping to run into them here.

And I can't be the only guy in Houston.  That leaves me in the same position as it did back home.  We had four players there and even more up in KC.  No one took it too seriously, sadly.  There seems to be a fairly moderate AH3 scene here.  Maybe some of those guys play.  I'll keep trying.

Thanks for the heads up.  I'll try to visit Denton sometime in the near future before the year ends.

Only 2 posts I've seen from Huston. Going on a year old now. The top guy has 2 posts, last active 12 Aug 2010. Bottom guy has 1 post, last active 09 Nov 2010.
You may have better luck finding them on dustloop or homing cancel.
And yeah, sry for the ranting above, just thought it might motivate people a little.
I hope we can play while your in Texas. Pfhor and I go to some of the majors that host melty every year. I'm pretty sure I'm going to NEC and FR. I do go up to the east coast to play about once a year at someones random local event.
And if I get wind of anything more local, I'll try and let you know. There was an event in OK recently. Might consider going to ARK's events. And I can prolly be talked into going to more anime cons if we can find a cheap place to stay.
Other than that, it's one hell of a drive to Huston.

As far as the Austin scene goes... MBAACC didn't get enough play because the scene was me and a few regulars at AUFO who really weren't -that- into melty. =/ I pretty much was the one who played it all the time on weekends and rarely got some actual matches in. When it came to tournaments for melty, there was like only one. And it didn't even happen because 1) It started late due to bad planning/busy with SF4 or whatever and 2) when it finally was going to start, not enough people had signed up, since people who mightve played had left by then (it started like 6 hours later than it was supposed to). It was a little depressing. And I haven't made much effort myself so I wouldn't know where to start. I'm trying to get a small thing going down here on campus but it's hard to with a fighter like melty when most people who -are- into fighters are into ones like MvC3 and SSF4. So it feels like I'm the one of the rare few who would want to meet up for this game for casuals and the like. (Surprisingly my suitemate has played melty before and he wasn't bad either, so I guess I'm a little lucky there but I dunno if he'd be into getting into it again.)

I DO know there's a tiny RGV scene, that I visit and play with when I go home over the summer, and they're decent, at least one or two really know what they're doing and are good. I myself am alright (I went to Final Round last year and did okay I guess for my first time at a "major" if that would be considered one, we played some games iirc Texas Tim). I wouldn't really know much about other areas otherwise, though I do have a friend in San Antonio who visits me every so often (he's visiting today) and we play games and such. He's picking up melty for sure and is doing pretty good in the learning process.

Anyways, to answer your roll call, I'm a Melty Player from the RGV, I main H-Sion at the moment but have picked up H-Miyako (and know basic H-Koha stuff) and am in the process of learning C-Kohaku. I also play Arcana and Wonderful World(poverty fighter) decently, and I don't mind mashing other games as well. The RGV group I played melty with consisted of about 5 who played regularly-ish, and I don't know how much bigger it got since I've left.

A Texas regional sounds amazing. I'd love to go to something like that. I really want to play people at this game and get better. Sadly it's kinda hard for me to travel but who knows, maybe that'll change. I dunno yet.

While I'm here, I might as well reach out and ask that any melty players in Austin who see this, if you're willing to meet up sometime and organize something, I'd love to meet up as well.

If I'm not mistaken, RGV is Rio Grand Valley, the area between Brownsville and Rio Grand City-ish.
Yeah iirc Brownsville is about a 12 hour drive from DFW. (LOL 12 hours of driving and still in Texas!! :psyduck:)
I do believe I remember you from FR last year Skwuck. You sent me to losers iirc. I'm such ass at mirror matches. :emo:
Well, I'd like to invite you to come play up here any time you want. Austin is only like 3-4 hours drive.

As far as where to start looking for people, does UTA have something like a fighting game/general game club that hosts events?
When I started going to UNT about 2 years ago, there was no scene in DFW. But a games club was hosting an event on campus for lots of fighters. MBAA had recently been released.
I had the game, but did not have a PS2 to play it on at the time. So I was running it on an emulator on my laptop. I just went to the event and set-up my laptop to see if anyone there knew of the game. I had never played fighters before, so I just went into training mode and practiced combos. It did not take long for people to ask what the game was and if they could try it out. Eventually, pfhor showed up and said that MBAA was his main game and asked to play. Then the 'scene' was me and pfhor for a while, until I found more people.

I found most of the people that play now by just taking the game out in public and playing it.
If you already know of a fighting game group that meets in Austin, just take melty there. MvC3 is pretty similar to melty. Most Arcana players I know play melty. Many BB and GG players I know play melty.

You might try and get to know the people in the Japanese language program there. I have found people who know about MB who are learning Japanese. You may find a Japanese person that knows how to play. Or you can try the anime club (long shot imo). Thats about all I can think of.

Edit:
Anyways, to answer your roll call, I'm a Melty Player from the RGV, I main H-Sion at the moment but have picked up H-Miyako (and know basic H-Koha stuff) and am in the process of learning C-Kohaku.
Oh wait, I just realized you said H-Sion and not H-VSion... Derp. Yeah I remember now. Not that many people played casuals last year.

I vaguely remember a couple of events at UFO that were supposed to have Melty on the side (before CC was sold off) along with the mainstream games, but Melty was canceled each time because of attendance.  I told pfhor about one of them once on IRC and he seemed surprised that there was going to be Melty at some UFO event.  I only saw that they were having Melty there from the SRK thread, which is pretty silly.  Have a Melty tourney and forget to tell Melty players to show up.

Edit: Scanned the event forum and didn't even see any UFO threads, lol.

Here or on SRK? I recently looked through some of the old SRK events in Texas just to see what events were out there. I'm shamefully ignorant of the larger Texas community.
I didn't see anything from UFO either, though I did see some more recent events listed for them. I might have missed them though, there are so many events to go through.

I remember there being two events that were supposed to have melty (I know I attended at least one anyways..). Each time I went, the "signups" for it started later than expected, and when they did happen, like you said, it was cancelled due to poor attendance. At one of those, I remember there being melty players I hadn't seen before, though I never got their names. But by the time melty was ready, they had already left. And when there was going to be one, I think all that was given as a light mention in this thread.

I just started learning Melty somewhat seriously and I still live in Arlington.  I have a friend who plays mainly SSFIVAE that I sometimes play Melty with, and I also play with a couple of super casual friends at UTA every Tuesday/Thursday.  If anybody goes to UTA, PM me and I'll give info on where to meet up for some games.
Have I met you before, and just can't remember? I am very bad with names.
We might have met before if you went to the Bar Fights when they had Arcana.  My friend and I messed around on the Melty setup that was in the corner when nobody else was on it for a couple of minutes until my friend had to play a game.  The only person I tried to talk to there that played Melty was pfhor, though.  Otherwise, probably not.

On here.  I saw a thread for AUFO with Melty and Arcana listed back in May, and was considering going for Arcana and SSFIV.  I was surprised nothing was posted here.

Well, if you want to play more, we play in Denton every weekend. Looking like it'll be on Sundays @ about 3pm (due to ppl working on Saturdays). If you can make it up here you are welcome to come. Also, QPunch lives in Bedford just north of the 121/183 split. You might try and at least hook up with him if you can't make it up here.

Yeah Friday we will go to Dallas to play at Mightfo's.
All of us in Denton: Pfhor has class scheduled until 5pm but he usually gets out early. I have class until 3pm. So expect to leave around 3-5pm.
Everyone else: It's prolly safe to show up to Mightfo's at about 3pm, so feel free to go early if you don't want to wait. I might not have room to pick ppl up on the way (Syn/Cookie).
If anyone needs the address, PM me and I'll get it to you. (Or it might be on dustloop if you feel like checking yourself.)

Hope to see everyone there. :bleh:

I don't think that the Texas players outside of Austin should be shamed at all.
The arcade itself seemed largely ignorant of the larger Melty scene in Texas, by their total lack of advertising of events for MBCC.
Why would people in Texas drive to Austin to play the same 3-5 ppl they play at home? Only if they host events and let ppl know about them will ppl drive out.
Also, the Austin community could have stepped in and let people know, if said community existed.
Like I said before, if we in DFW had known about events for CC, it's almost guaranteed that we would have driven out for it.
Therefore the only people that deserve shame are AUFO itself or the Austin MB player base. (inclusive or, meaning it could be both)

-TexasTim-

On a side note, from some of the posts from people who were at events held for MBCC at UFO, it seems that UFO TOs either did not know how to run a tourney, or did not care about MB. (Also inclusive or.)
My thinking is that they were doomed to fail from the start with MBCC b/c of the preceding statement, unless the Austin MB community took the running of the MB tourneys out of AUFO's hands.
UFO then would have only had to schedule events, take all the sign-ups for all games at one time, and hold the pot until the bracket is concluded.
Then just run the events and not wait till they're 6 hours behind schedule to even take sign-ups...

: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?

There were no Meltyblood CC tournies at UFO the entire time they had it, and the 2 times I went there nobody played it except fubarduck, another guy who worked there, and a few button mashers. There were, however, events during the time they had MBAACC, we actually went to one (a CC tourney was scheduled, even) but that was the DAY they were setting up CC and Fubarduck had technical problems (they needed some ghetto ass usb cord that was only available in japan). That was unfortunate, but between that day and the day Fubar sold CC, there were absolutely no scheduled tournies for Current Codes to help hype up the game.

That said, I actually can't blame him, it's a bit of a gamble scheduling a tourney for a game you don't think anybody is going to show up for. Fubar didn't have much demand from people to hold a CC tourney. Perhaps we could have said more to him to give him an idea that people would actually show up to a CC event.

That's all chicken or the egg though, it's too late now and while I'm all for hating on Texas it's not really productive as of now.

Greg it was sold to Family Fun Arcade in Cali
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: fubarduck October 01, 2011, 12:13:08 PM
Yo,

Someone on Twitter directed me this thread to ask for my input.

Long story short, yes, we sold MBAA:CC to FFA in Cali because nobody here was playing it. We were the only arcade in the USA to import it and we lost over $1,000 on the purchase [i.e. (price we paid) - (the amount it was played + the amount we sold it for) was over $1,000].

Some people seem to be saying if we had more events, it would've been different/gotten more support/whatever.

First of all, events do not cause a game at the arcade to profit. They are simply there to support the community, since a popular game will always make more via pay per play. Games make money on the arcade by getting played on a regular basis, which MBAA:CC definitely did not get that. MBAA:CC and MBAA were the two least profitable fighting games we ever imported, which is unfortunate, since I made the purchase mainly as a fan of the series.

So, even if we advertised a big Melty tournament every month and got 10 people playing it all day, it still wouldn't have been enough to make the game worth keeping in the arcade based on how many locals/regulars played. Furthermore, when only 2 or 3 people per week max are showing up to play the game, what's the point in holding a tournament for it?

I played the game with everybody that came in and asked me to play, but I was at a much higher level than any of the people that came in, and nobody ever reached that level even though I never really studied the game.

Finally, the Austin/Texas thread hadn't had posts in over 2 or 3 months every time I looked at it. The Texas thread was all people from other cities posting. Melty players all knew we had the game, and I did post in the appropriate forums. I simply reached the conclusion that Austin did not have a scene for the game, and that I couldn't carry the weight of it on my own shoulders (nor bear the financial burden) and decided I had to sell. Judging from what I see here, I don't really think that's changed much.

We do still have the old version of MBAA v2 on Naomi, which is now outdated even by the current PS2 version IIRC. If you guys pick a day to come and let me know, I can always throw it in.

Still hope I can find some way to support the game in the future, but it's way more likely that we'll be able to get a stronger scene for P4U or Under Night In-birth.
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: TheMaster_Rahl October 01, 2011, 12:57:43 PM
Thanks for posting that Fubarduck. I understand. In hind sight, I wish I would have done more to contact your arcade about tourneys. But back then I was so ignorant of the Melty community that I though: "I'm just some random player. What the hell can I do?" I really wish that I could have afforded to come out whenever I felt like it, and play whoever happened to be there, but I honestly thought that my support would be better spent going to tourneys hosted by UFO. But I totally agree that the Melty scene in Texas is damn near non-existent, and is non-existent in Austin.

I will discuss this no further, unless I get randomly insulted by blanket statements again.

Lol I feel like I was the only one who really played Melty frequently there when it was there. I could be wrong though. I feel like I'm the only player in Austin though (at least, who checks here..), and I kinda had the same mindset; "I'm just a random player, what could I do?" Oh well. If anything I'll see what I can do about getting up to one of you guys' meetups sometime, somehow...

If you said this at the beginning, it would have been a lot better than just blaming a whole scene for CC bombing at UFO. The game failing isn't anyone's fault. The Austin scene just wasn't interested in the game. Mad respect giving to Fubarduck for trying to support the game at his own risk.

I understand your point on embracing the new and different titles that your arcade might get, but in my experience it seems to come down to what dipstick said. I can remember countless games, many of which were new that hardly anyone would play at the arcades I use to frequent in Canada, simply because they weren't KOF or Tekken. After MBAC failed over there, I realized that trend and gave up on trying to befriend and network players I met in the arcades, because it was clear at the time nobody cared about games that weren't of the trend. In the end, it's the players and the scene that decide what gets played.

Nope. You said Texas, he said Austin. You say Texas again here. You should say Austin.
Quite generalizing with blanket statements that insult people. That is why I 'went in'.
I merely stated what would get me (and I think most other Texas players not in Austin) to come out is tourneys. Everyone else not in Austin simply can't afford to come out enough to support UFO the way they need.
You literally do not know, or do not care about, the difference between Austin and Texas. Therefore you do not know what you are talking about. Or if you do know and don't care, then you should not be taken seriously.
What you said in the beginning is the logical equivalent to:
'The US did not come support MBCC at UFO, shame on you USA.' I hope this is enough to demonstrate to you that what you said makes no sense.
Now, I hope that clears up our misunderstanding. I believe this is the crux of our disagreement. Fubar's post should leave you with no doubt.
I am not writing this to try and be insulting. Only to show you why I disagree with you. If you are not convinced after this, we can simply agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Now I can get back to what this thread is meant to be used for: Jointdate:2012, if you ever find yourself in DFW and want to play MB, plz come play with us. We would love to play more people.

Denton does Melty meet ups pretty consistently every weekend right?  When's the next hookup?  I'll come out there by myself if I have to.  I'll even pick you up Skwuck, if you help chip in for gas.

I'll get the info about our next meet-up by tomorrow and post it for you. I can tell you that you and Skwuck have a place to sleep if you don't want to drive back the same day. I'll pay for your food so don't worry about that.

Okay, CPhame and Skuwak:
Looks like the best weekend for you to come would be Oct 14th-16th.
Basically, Saturday, Oct 15th is the day we should play. I think I can get the most players in our area to show up then.
So you can drive up Saturday in the morning/afternoon. I would not mind housing you both for Friday night and Sat. night, but Saturday after about 3pm is when I can prolly get the most players here for you guys to play. Let me know if that weekend works for you.

This next weekend's meet-up (Oct 7th-9th) will prolly be on Sunday (or Friday, not sure yet). So if you came then, we would play on Sunday at about 3pm and you guys would have to leave that night (or Friday at 3pm and you guys would have to leave early on Friday to get here on time). That's why it might be better to come the weekend after next.

DrgnAK, Qpunch and Cookie: If you can make it up to Denton on Saturday, Oct 15th, and CPhame and Skuwak can make it up here, then it will prolly be worth it to come up. Come if you can.
I will personally go out of my way to provide transportation if that is the thing stopping you from coming.

Feel free to bring more people, but be warned. I don't have room in my apartment for more than 2. There may me more room available, but I have not asked any of the other local players if they can room someone.
One spot is a couch and the other is a bed. If you bring more people just give me a heads up. I'm sure we can arrange housing for you guys.

: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: CPhame October 10, 2011, 01:32:38 PM
@Qpunch I don't know anything about White Len  :nyoro:

And, I hate to do this but I started a new job this week.  They gave me Saturday off, but I have to work Friday until 1am and the following Sunday at 12pm.  What this means is that I would either have to get up super early to drive out to Austin and pick up Skwuck on Saturday and leave the same night, or leave right after work on Fryda (which is around 1am) and then drive off to Austin / Denton and leave again Saturday night.  I don't know how that will work out, but it's definitely going to be a lot of driving.  I probably won't be able to stay Saturday night like I had hoped.

So...I'm going to have to reschedule to get a full weekend off.  If the idea above works for you Skwuck, let me know.  If you're willing (and Texas Tim is willing) I'll go that route -- otherwise, I'll probably have to cancel until a later date.

Which sucks, because I just started practicing Melty again for this weekend.  :(

You mean 1am Friday morning/Thursday night correct (ie. 0100 hours Friday), and not 1am Friday night/Saturday morning (ie.0100 hours Saturday).

If you mean 1am Friday morning/Thursday night, then it's up to you guys weather you think it's worth it to come.
It'd be best if you could come Friday night or Saturday morning.
Then Melty Saturday afternoon until evening.
Then wake-up and drive back Sunday morning/afternoon.
But if you have to be back at work by noon Sunday, then you'd have to leave some time Saturday night.
We could just start earlier than 3pm on Saturday so that you guys could leave at a better time and still get a good amount of play in.

If you mean 1am Saturday morning/Friday night, then you should not come. That'd be too much driving and not enough time for sleep.
We can reschedule for another weekend.

That sounds... kind of not worth it... x: I mean, I suppose I'm willing, but that's a LOT of driving for one day. If you really want to though, let me know and we can try to work out the details. I think you might be able crash Saturday night maybe, if it makes things on the way back any easier. I don't mind waiting for another weekend if you'd rather wait though (or heck, if you can go without me, that's fine too; it would suck to hold you back just because I'm too far away in addition to your work stuff D: ).

Yo, I'm out of town this weekend since the Houston/Austin guys are not coming. Going to CT to play. :fap:
Talk to pfhor or denthorn(aka pat) about whats going on. I think they want to go to frigid's in Dallas.
Or look up the info on the DFW thread on dustloop. I'm pretty sure frigid posted something about this weekend there.

It's prolly best if you guys decide on a weekend to come up and just tell us when. It'll prolly be too long waiting for a weekend where everyone here can show up and you all can make it here.
So just tell us when you can make it up and we'll do our best to be there.

Great news!  I found melty players here in Houston.  There are people here, its just that they stick to Facebook and not to forums (not even the srk forums).  What surprised me most is that Kensou plays melty.  I can't wait to play them soon.  Hopefully some of those guys will come to Denton.

November 19th is gonna be poppin!

That's really good to hear that you found local people to play. If more than 4 people come up, I'll have to consider where we are going to house people.
I might see if I can move the location to my mom's house in NRH. It'd save you about a hour drive on the way up, and I have way more room there.
I'd just have to get the okay from my mom to use the space for a weekend. Let me know when you know how many people are coming with you.

Yes sir. No problem.

Looks like this weekend will be a Sunday meet-up in Denton at Pat's at 3pm.

I might be a little late to this one. My dad has invited me to go see the NASCAR race this weekend. There are races on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
I can't skip out on my dad here, so yeah. Me is late... :P
Sunday's the big race, and starts at like 12-1pm. So I should, hopefully be back by 5-6pm.

Good news. We can use my mom's house for this gathering and for housing on the weekend of the 19th. :toot:
PM me for the address.
I have cats there. So if anyone is allergic, let me know.
As of now, my mom has requested 2 things:
- Stay out of her room.
- Don't raid the wet bar, pantry, kitchen, or fridge for food and drink.
All the food and drinks there are not mine, so I can't give them out. But I'ma buy some stuffs, and the things too. :mystery:

There are 9 spots for sleeping, and everyone else gets floor space. Bring a pillow and a blanket. I don't have enough for everyone.
We'll see how many people show up. :D

The most that will possibly show up from DFW is:    9
Possible amount from Houston/Austin:    4

Well, we have 3 cats there. I can put them up in the pantry for the weekend and clean the house. But if it's too much for you, then I think we can find another place for you to sleep.
I'm not too sure what the weather is going to be like, but I do have a garage with a good amount of space. We could put the set-ups out there if need be. There is also a couch/bed out there.
But, chances are it will be real cold at night by then.

Six days till the 19th. I'm pretty hyped.  :prinny: To everyone planning to attend:

-The event will be held at my house in North Richland Hills (North East Ft. Worth)
-As far as I know, it will be a Friday night, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning/early afternoon event. (Guess it really depends on the Houston/Austin ppl driving up as to when we start and end.)
-Anyone who comes is free to sleep at the event, or commute back and forth from wherever if you don't mind the drive and gas.
***Remember the rules of the house:
As of now, my mom has requested 2 things:
- Stay out of her room.
- Don't raid the wet bar, pantry, kitchen, or fridge for food and drink.
All the food and drinks there are not mine, so I can't give them out. But I'ma buy some stuffs, and the things too. :mystery:

For those driving to my house, PM me for the address. A lot of highways are real close to my house: 820, 121, 183, 35, 30. I can prolly give you good directions if I know where you are coming from.

For those that would like to come, but need a ride: Tell me you need a ride and I will come get you. Please tell me if you need a ride. This is not a good excuse to miss this opportunity to play what are pretty much out of state-ers by most people's standards.

For those that would like to come but can't be there during the whole event: Just come when you can and play some MB. Some folks are driving a long way to come play our scrub asses. Lets make it worth it for em by being there.
We will likely play other games as well, but I'ma be playing Melty the whole time pretty much. :mystery:

If you know anyone that has expressed interest in playing MB, let them know about this event, these boards, and this thread.

Unfortunately (maybe), I don't yet know how to run a stream, but I will be recording stuff through out the weekend. Bring your A game gentlemen.  :V

Remember to get the :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: :fap: done before you come...

I don't even...

Good to know. I suggest you get up very early to start driving. Like, be leaving at 6am, early. Have whoever you are driving up here in your car by then too. I recommend you do the prep work, ie gas, ect., Friday night after work. Make sure your car is good to drive the distance, ie good tires, no leaks, ect.
It's totally up to you of course, but I can't see it being worth the drive unless you get here by the early afternoon. It's about an 8-9 hour drive, iirc. One way.
Don't spend anymore money that you have to. Just get what you need for the trip up. I'm going to buy drinks and some snack items, and drive us to eat places. I'm a terrible cook, so I plan on eating out every meal.
And, that is just my way of reminding people... to... take care of...what is truly important to them in life. :laffo:
Realy just telling people to do what they need to do to get here, and do it safely, mixed in with about 3 jokes that only I'm going to understand... :gonk:
You can replace all the  :fap: with the word 'work', and apply a very broad definition to it, and get about the equivalent meaning of what I was saying. lol... :blah:

Are you planning on taking 45 up? If so, I recommend you skirt Dallas via 287 at Alma/Waxahachie, then you'll hit 20, then 820 which you will, unfortunately, have to take North until you get to my house. But I can give you a route that will skirt the worst of the traffic you might face on 820. I'll PM you that info as well.

To the people that are already in the DFW area:

I am going to go to my house on Friday to clean up, set up, ect.
Even though the Houston guys won't be here till Saturday afternoon, if you would like to come Friday night to play, feel free.
You even have the option of staying over if you so choose. It's totally up to you individually if you would like to come Friday or Saturday.
I'm currently operating under the assumption that everyone will come Saturday afternoon, like 12-3pm-ish, since the Houston guys won't be here till Saturday afternoon.

There is net access at my house. You bringing a loptop? The comp my mom has there is rather old and slow. Like it's a Dell that's like 10 years old or so. Made when Dell made quality computers...

CPHame:  Man, just crazy busy and lots of sleeping lately.  x_X;  Can't wait to game up again bro!

TheMaster_Rahl:  I haven't been to a convention in.....hmmm....ever I think.  Does QuakeCon count?  But I'll toss you a PM for the address if it's cool, if there's room I'll be bringing another MB'er.   Not sure who all plays what, but I'll bring the following games just in case on my PS2 HD:

MB:AA
GG:AC
FUC
CvS2
Basara

I miiight be going.... And I might have my own ride to the place: a friend who also has been learning. So it'd be us two, and you wouldn't have to go out of your way CPhame. But I still don't know yet. I'll try to have an answer asap though... ><;

Forgive my double post, but doing so just in case people don't notice an edit; CPhame, you can go ahead and go, if I do go, I've got my own ride, and if not, oh well. Sorry for letting you know so late, but I hope in the end it saves you trouble instead of causes it, since you won't have to go out of your way (hoping you see this before you get off work..). I suppose I can post again later if I do go or not, but just letting you know that you don't have to come get me.

It feels likely that I'll go but we'll see.

I got a text from Skwuck. Skwuck +1 is on their way up. Just to confirm, CPhame, you do not need to pick him up in Austin. Take the route of your choice up. It's prolly about the same distance going to Austin and then up 35 to FT Worth as it is going up 45 then over 287 to FT Worth.

Safe travels everyone.

I'd like to thank everyone that came to my house this last weekend. You all made this event a huge success, beyond my expectations.
A total of 11 people showed up, 4 or 5 of which are pretty much considered out of state: (I hope I remembered everyone's names)
TexasTim (Denton)
Denthorn (Denton)  :bleh: Worst/best Kouma in Texas...
Pfhor (Denton)  :bleh:
Oldboy (Denton)  :bleh:
Cookie (Carrollton)  :bleh:
QPunch (Bedford) Hope you had fun man. Come out when you can. :bleh:
FoxStepCEO (Ft Worth) Been waiting for you to turn up since SuperBitWars. :emo: See you when you can make it to our regular meet-ups.
KosMos(?) (Oklahoma ?)  :psyduck: Too gdlk for showing up. ;D Hope to see you next month.
CPhame (Houston) Thanks for coming. Hope you can play more MB in Houston. Nice to meet you. Although I may have met you before... :mystery:
Skwuck (Austin) Loved playing your Sion. Thanks for coming. I also think I played you before, but I could be wrong.
Nick (San Antonio) I don't remember your handle. A Texas Hisui player? wut? :o Thanks for coming up. Good to meet you. I want to play against more Hisui. :gonk:

KosMos, FoxStepCEO, CPhame, Skwuck, Nick: Thanks so much for making the trip out to play Melty. Excellent play from you all. In no small part you all brought the hype, and contributed much to make this event such a success. You all are more than welcome to come play again.
A special thanks to Chris for showing up, quite unexpectedly. When I heard that Matt was coming, maybe with a friend from OK, I was kinda hoping you might come so I could get some run backs from SuperBitWars. It's so much fun playing Melty with you.
I hope that coming to play us in North Texas was worth the drive. It was certainly worth it for us.
I don't know if it is just the unique experience of hosting an event like this or not, but my level of enjoyment from this event is equal to or greater than any of the other events I've gone to in the past. To me, it was well worth the expenses in time and money. I would not mind at all hosting more in the future, as often as you guys can and want to make the trip.

To the DFW guys: Thanks for coming out and rep-ing DFW. I hope you all enjoyed it as thoroughly as I did. I'll see you next weekend. ;)

To those that could not make it out: It's too bad, you all missed one hell of a good time along with free snacks, beer, soda, Gundam Getto Assault 2 aka secret main game, and Melty. Hope to see you guys at the next one when and if it happens. :V

I'm going to edit, encode and upload all the footage I recorded from the weekend. I've been kinda using it as a tool to watch the things that I do wrong and try and catch things to work on. So I won't leave any out. It's not as structured as I'd like it to be, but I was way too busy to be monitoring the recording set-up for that kind of thing.

If anyone has suggestions for how it could have gone better, let me know and I'll try to implement some of them at the next one. Especially if it would have saved you money, please tell me.
I'm kinda interested if you all thought there was enough room to play/sleep. I think so, but then again, I've been to events where the entire floor space was covered with furniture or people. Also, if you guys think I should make a topic in the events thread the next time around, or if using this thread is sufficient, were there enough snacks, set-ups, ect. Stuff like that.

Lost and Found:
Black PS2 to PS2 Controller Extension Cable                1ea       Found under the entertainment center with the big TV.
Blue PS2 8Mb Memory Card                                          1ea       Found in the PS2 set-up on the big TV.
Key w/ Red/White Hello Kitty Cover (Mushroom Hat)    1ea       Found in my room on the floor; the room Skwuck slept in.

PM me with claims. I can mail them to the address of your choice.

Time for some well deserved sleep...

Good games to everybody, and a big thank you goes out to Tim for being a most excellent host.  It was great to finally be able to put names to faces.  I'd like to say more, but ever since I got back to Houston I've been hard pressed for time so I'll keep it nice and short.

Looking forward to the next one!

It prolly goes without saying, but there will prolly not be a Melty meet-up in Denton this weekend due to Thanksgiving.

I'm back at my mom's house this weekend for the holidays, and noticed that the usb plug for charging/pluging in wireless PS3 controllers on my PS3 in the living room is gone.
It's a short little cable, I'd say like 1-2 feet maybe.
Does anyone remember moving it, or using it? Maybe when the other PS3 was set-up in the kitchen you guys used it?
It's the only one I own here, so my mom can't charge the 'remote' for her 'blue ray player' without it.
I remember it being plugged into the PS3 in the living room, on the floor, by the big CRT, at the start of the weekend.
Let me know if someone picked it up by mistake, or left it in a weird spot in my house.

Well, I forgot to mention this. I'm not going to be in town this weekend. I'm going to NEC in Philly.
So for the meet-up this weekend, you guys are going to have to talk to Denthorn, aka Pat aka best Kouma in Texas...
He doesn't post much so just PM him for details, if he's even going to run stuff this weekend. I haven't talked to him yet.

Pat and I were wanting to host some games before the holidays.
I was thinking Friday, the 23rd.
It'd be at my place in Fort Worth, the same house I hosted the event that the Houston/Austin guys traveled up for.
We'd prolly be playing the 1.07 demo. :V
Pat and I will prolly play regardless, but if more people want to show up, fell free.
We'll prolly get more regular meet-ups back in Denton when the winter break is over. In the mean time, I'll host at my place in NRH.

Although he did not tell me if he was or not, and I therefore could not tell him to get me one too..., Pfhor did go to JP a few days ago, and I think he'll be there through the new year. So I would not be surprised if he comes back with a copy of the game.

If you guys have MBAA:CC, I would mosdef be able to swing through.  That might even be enough to convince even more Houston players to drop down too, since I know a majority of them are sleeping on MBAA until CC drops.

I got my hands on CC, so me and Pat want to host a meet-up during the week, Tuesdays specifically, at my house in NRH. So expect it to start at about 3pm Tue. If more people have set-ups, you might want to bring them. PM me for the address if you need it. It's in NE Ft. Worth.

I'll try and be there this tuesday, but that's probably going to be the only time I go. driving to ft. worth from garland and then making it back to carrollton is too much driving to do more than once.

Finally played some awesome local talent here last night.  There's actually quite a few amazing players!  I'm quite happy to say the melty scene is beginning to blossom here again (even though I wasn't around when it was blooming lol).

Just wanted to let Denton, DFW, and Austin players know that there's a tournament for the game on February 11th at the Test Your Skills event.  I'd love to see everyone show up and rep Melty!

I enjoyed being out in Austin but the military moved me out to the Desert part of TX. (El Paso). I'll post here more often when I get back in the heart of Texas or anywhere worth viewing.

C-Aoko
C-Arch seems to be really fun so considering her as a sub.

I like it. I think I've been in training mode for like more time than I was in MBAA already. I think I'm switching to F-Warc at this point. She got hella buffs, but is still pretty bad at pressure, like me.

Wow, that's insane.  That's awesome you made the switch.  Any reasons?

For me, I'm probably going to stick with Ryougi even though she's been hit with the nerf bat.  I've always liked Aoko too.  I'm not sure what character would be a better fit.

Wow, that's insane.  That's awesome you made the switch.  Any reasons?
Why not H-VSion? While I have no trouble executing VShi combos, I don't like her play style and am not good at trying to play it. Her moves aren't active enough, nor have enough block stun for my liking (they prolly don't need to have those...).

Why F-Warc? I love her 63214C, and her 5A, and her 2B, and her 2C, and her air rings, and her rekka, and her oki, and her damage, and I just have more fun playing her in general. I like that she is not H-Moon. Her mix-ups are simple, her combos are simple, everything about her is pretty simple. I like that I can play more cautiously with her. I do wish that she had a faster low, and air teleports. And I wish she had a faster special. But those wishes aren't very realistic. Except the air teleports. Where are they? :mystery:
I kinda wish she had good pressure too. :V

Fwarc pressure is ok, it just forces alot of lvl 0--- which can make it for higher level play yeah but i wouldn't call her pressure bad at all.

Also yeah i didn't really think your style suited hvsion either so seeing you want to switch is a good idea, imo. Just be careful of the deadlock of switching characters and make sure not to miss Vsion easy AA, damage, and comeback factor. But if you stick with your guns I can see you pulling through with some interesting tech. Good luck

Nice to see that it isn't. I'm not sure how many people will come. There is interest in the Austin community for the game so a couple of the guys should show up. I would think. I really hope to see you there Skwuck. Lets get in some good games :)

Yeah, that's my bad. If you want to come up again, I'd like to coordinate with OK and Austin so we can kinda come together at the same time. I know KosMos said he was coming down sometime this month?

I might try and see if we can set-up a, like, Texas Meet-Up, in like Austin, that way it kinda cuts the drive time for you guys in Houston, and it's kinda central to all of us. I don't think it's really fair to have you guys drive up 8 hours every time you wana come play with us. But housing is going to be an issue. Prolly something to start thinking about for later in the year. Or we can set-up a Bi-Monthly type thing? Let me know what you guys think about that idea.

Well chances are I'm going to show up for the Bar Fights Test your Skills thing in Houston on Feb 11th. I've yet to mention it to anyone else in DFW to see if they'd be interested in going though. So I'll have to get back to you when classes start and we all get our schedules for the semester.

So if anyone is possibly able to pick me up near the campus that's going to this that would be pretty helpful. Otherwise I'll still try to make it there via nearest bus, hopefully I won't get lost. :V

You said you'd be going to the arcade afterward? Could I possibly catch a ride with you on the way back? Or someone.

Also, I'll have to post again about Denton/DFW gathering this weekend. Pat tells me he might not be able to host tomorrow after all, so it may be Sunday, but I have not confirmed it yet.

-TexasTim-

Edit: Just confirmed with Pat. The meet-up this weekend will be Saturday, 3PM at Pat's in Denton.

I should say, that if it's going to be two weeks from now we might as well meet up at the Test Your Skill tournament that's going on the weekend after (three weeks from now).  It's hard enough already to ask for one Saturday off, let alone two.

Plus my nephew's birthday is a month away, and it's an absolute must for me.

Well, at least 3 of us from Denton are coming down for Test Your Skills.
I don't know. I'd say that it'd be up to Kos Mos. Just come down when you want/can. We will play. If you can come down to Houston with us for Test Your Skills, great. If Not, that's fine too.
If CPhame can't make it up when Kos Mos can come down, oh well. Lets just play Melty when we can, with who we can.
I'll leave it to you guys to tell me who's doing what, when.
Kos Mos, you're more than welcome to come down when ever you want, and we will play. Two weeks, three, no matter. Same to you CPhame. Just let me know.
We are going to play Melty here, in Denton/DFW, in two weeks, and in three weeks, we are going to Houston to play.

Who would that be?

Oh and, I've been told that Texas Showdown (an EVO 2012 qualifier) will be hosting a MBAACC side tournament at Anime Matsuri.  I think they're making me run brackets for them (I seem to be the default person to go to when it comes to running Melty in Houston because of my tower lol)

Just letting yall know for those in Houston, there is going to be a meetup in Houston on the 28th at University of Houston college. It will have various games including MBAACC. I'll be there to for sure. Let me know on this thread if anyone is interested.

For people around the Dallas Area, we are going to be bringing Melty to the House of Goons on Friday (tomorrow). This is basically the fighting game central meetup for North Texas, and they play all the popular games as well as some obscure things from time to time. Tim's gonna bring his laptop and we will have a Melty Setup for anybody to jump on who wants to try the game out. It starts around 8pm and basically goes on all night, not sure how long we are gonna stay.

Goons address (it's public, don't bother knocking, just walk on in and take off your shoes at the door):

Address 4821 Bull Run Drive, Plano, TX 75093

Damnit, I forgot to post this.
The Denton guys are going to go to MightFo's meet-up this Saturday in Dallas. See you guys there.

Also, how did goons go?

Well, there were a couple people that watched, and showed interest in the game. And we did touch base with someone else that we met at another event who played, so pretty good.

For anyone that does not know, there are going to be a good number of us showing up for the Houston Test Your Skills Bar Fights tourney for Melty this weekend. Tourney is at 4pm-ish on Saturday the 11th.
Pfhor, Pat, Cookie, and myself from Denton, along with Chris and Matt from Oklahoma.
If there is anyone in the DFW area that wants to go to this, but needs a ride, let me know so I can pick you up.

Currently, my plan is to drive up Saturday morning, departing(as in on the road) about 7-8am, and returning Saturday night after the event, whenever it is done, prolly around midnight. This may change, but I'm going with this plan for now.

-TexasTim-

PS. I am bringing a set-up, but hopefully someone else has at least one more.

I have a finalized plan for DFW guys going to Houston.
I have the use of my mom's van, which seats 8.
I'm going to leave Denton with the people from Denton at about 5pm and drive to my mom's house in NRH.
I'm going to take my mom to the airport, then drive from the airport and pick up Cookie in Carrollton.
I'm going to drive to Oak Cliff to pick up Angel(?).
Then we will leave straight from there and get to 45 and go south.
We'll prolly arrive to CPhame's late, at least midnight, prolly closer to 1am.

Could the following people PM me an address please:
Cookie, Angel, CPhame.

Actually I just NOW thought about having this on my phone, holy crap technology!

If you mean like, this weekend like tomorrow from now weekend, I'll be driving up to Oklahoma this weekend, but it's all good though, no worries on the post delay or whatever, it's all good.  I'll bring my PC tower at the next gathering and see if anyone knows if I just need a graphics card that's not made out of cardboard or if it's a processor problem, I know nothing about PC stuff, but CC runs at like half speed and it's actually kinda funny.

You know, it's actually funny that you said that, cuz like, wasn't Kohaku raped in the story, so I guess she -did- fucked.  And why did I say that's actually funny?  Unless she was raped by a clown.  Warachia kinda has a clown face though, peanut butter sandwhiches.

If you live in DFW, there is a group of players in Denton that hosts meet-ups pretty much every week, but usually on Saturdays. And also, Mightfo/Frigid from dustloop hosts meet-ups in North Dallas that we go to as well, also usually Saturdays. Also, we've gone to the house of goons' meet-ups in Plano on Friday, but not so often. But if you can make it to Denton on Fridays only, I'm sure you could find some players to play.

I still have to talk to everyone here to find out where we are going to play this weekend. Some people went home for the break.

Hey Tim, I need your help on something.  I found this amazing glitch but don't have any means of uploading it to youtube.  How do you do that?  I have a few other match vids I want to post up as well too.

Also, if I hosted a weekend-long gathering here, would anybody be interested in coming by?  I got lots of booze to go through, and no one but myself to drink it unfortunately  :nyoro:

Also also...anybody playing ACV?

super edit:

Tim, you know you guys are welcome here.  Just...bring toothbrushes and stuff.  I quite like the one I have now.

Hey Tim, I need your help on something.  I found this amazing glitch but don't have any means of uploading it to youtube.  How do you do that?  I have a few other match vids I want to post up as well too.
Well, youtube is linked to google now, so I think you have to have a g-mail account. Then just make an account with youtube, and you can upload stuff. If you mean converting replays into a format that is playable on a media player, then all you need is fraps. It costs money to get, I forget how much, like $20 or something. You would use fraps to record the replays as you play them back using the MBAACC program. If you don't want to get that stuff, then you can just e-mail the replays to me, or otherwise upload them to a public site for download. Then I can record the stuff you want and just upload it to my youtube. I can hook you up with some software for encoding and show you how to use it to upload vids to youtube, when I go down there.
Also, if I hosted a weekend-long gathering here, would anybody be interested in coming by?  I got lots of booze to go through, and no one but myself to drink it unfortunately  :nyoro:
When? I'd be interested, but it depends on when.

Thanks a lot Pete. I'll take that to mean that if we come to the Showdown event, that we can stay at your place and commute to the event, and that you will be going too. ;)
I think that if we go and pay for the venue fee, that we are going to go to the venue all weekend to get our money's worth.
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: CPhame March 24, 2012, 07:56:31 AM
Yeah, I was thinking like next weekend, on the 31st through the 1st.  But that's only a week before Texas Showdown, so it might be kind of awkward to have you guys come two weekends in a row.  Maybe sometime later in April / May?  I gotta let Matt and Chris know too (hope they're reading this board).

What's your email, Tim?  I'll send you the files.

You should talk to CPhame aka Pete to see if he is free that weekend. I'll do my best to come down then and play, and bring some people with me too. I won't be able to make it to Houston until that Friday at the earliest though. So you might want to do some sightseeing in Houston Wednesday and Thursday. We will be hosting a meet-up this Tuesday. So if people have some free time, come out and play.
It will be at Pat's in Denton. Time will likely be 3pm-ish, but may be later depending on when people get off from work. I'll post again with the time when we decide.

This weekend there will be 4 of us from DFW driving down to Houston for Texas Showdown. There may be a couple more that decide to come last min., but 4 is the number I have now. We will leave Denton around 4:00-4:30pm and arrive in the evening. It'll be a lot of traffic, I expect, until we get south of Dallas, so maybe a little longer than 4 hours travel time.

Just a quick note to everybody coming on Friday: bring something to sleep on. It's only been a month since the last time, and I don't have a whole lot of stuff for people to sleep on (at best, for only a couple of people at most).  I mean, I've only upgraded the apartment modestly, so please, please, bring some sleeping bags.  And toothbrushes.

Also, booze.  This is a weekend for melty I'm sure, but I'm really only in this because...anime weekend.  Last weekend we had a Japanese festival (which was loads of fun) but this week is where we nerds get to truly splurge.  I hope everybody is ready!

Gonna be loads of fun. Get hype, Texas!

I need to talk it over with my roommates but, would anyone be down for a Sunday Meetup next weekend? I know I'm gonna get to play Saturday if I have the cash but, I want us to try be as strong as possible which means a lot of grinding.

We can make it Sunday. Or at least me and pfhor can. I'll have to talk to Allen and Cookie, and Pat to see if they want to come too. I'm bring melty if that's cool. And I know that Pat is going to insist on bringing project M if he comes...

So just cleared it with the roommates. I'll host Saturday at 3pm. Who can bring setups? I'll have my 3 as usual.

Also, Friday Ronin is gonna come by around 3 for some games. I don't think most people are available then but, y'all are welcome if you want to grind some KOF with he and I

I havent been here in quite a while! For those of you coming to houston late may, I can bring a set-up to PZ. I used to do it when CC released for PC to generate interest. Stopped after a while to focus on other things, but i do want to play you guys when you come down! I play a decent C- Seifuku Akiha. Not sure if i played any of you guys when you came down for Texas Showdown. I should be Free for games on that Wednesday, Friday and Sat.

I do still plan on coming to Houston that weekend in May (25-26th). But I'm not too sure about the plan once we are all there. I thought that Pete was going to host this. But I guess it really doesn't matter were we go to play. Pete, tell me what we are doing when you decide.
Also, do you have a way to get a hold of/pick up Inso once he's in Houston? What's the plan with getting him to this meet-up?

Whoa, it's Isaac!  (...it's Isaac, right)

I wasn't really planning anything at PZ at all, mostly just an in-house kind of thing like the hookups in Denton.  I thought that's what we all agreed on?  I'm going to need to get tables and chairs by then for the living room though, and hookups would be really appreciated.  Maybe you can bring that Asus monitor you guys bought and put it to use, eh? lol

Welcome! There is one person who lives really close to you, in Bedford, QPunch. And us up in Denton, and a few more in North Dallas. There is likely to be not many people showing up to what ever meet-ups happen this weekend due to finals, but I'll post where we are going this weekend when I find out from Pfhor. Hope to meet you soon. :D

We will be hosting a meet-up in Denton at Pat's at about 3PM this Saturday.

There is a good chance that I will be in Fort Worth, in NRH, on Saturday, so I can offer Qpunch and Fishduck rides if you need them and are able to come.

Just let me know, I'll send you guys texts.

I wish I could come, but I'm working a big weekend shift (as usual).

On another note, it's a little under two weeks until the 25th and I found out from a friend that Comicpalooza is going on that weekend. It's not as anime-heavy as Anime Matsuri was, but it sounds like a fun alternative if anyone's up for it.

So I got word from Stone that there's going to be a tournament(?) at Comicpalooza.  Dunno what tournament though, but it's an option if you're interested.

Also, Airbrush King said that if we bring a setup to his new venue, he'll stream Melty for your Brazil buddies back home.

Additional costs? Will other Houston players come if it's an event run by ABK? Not that I mind so much, but I think that some of the people that are thinking about coming down with me are contingent upon it costing little to nothing, or on more players from Houston showing up.
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: CPhame May 16, 2012, 07:15:06 PM
That's really up to those other people, but yeah.  I'm just trying to give our guest a few more options.

Don't quote me on costs, but I'd very much assume entry fee is part of it.  It's on a Thursday iirc, so for you guys it's a non-issue.

Isaac said he's going to talk to the anime gamers here.  Should be a good turnout.  (Matt said he might come too woot woot)

You guys were mentioning it earlier, looks really promising, it's been years since I've been to anime or comic related events, might be fun to go even if it's just to chill out. Since my mom will be attendind a conference while we are there I'll have a lot of time for myself, any sort of activity is welcome.

A stream would be gdlk, I know for a fact that some of the players here would love to see it. Hey, they might actually cheer for me. :toot: Let me know how that turns out and I'll spread the word.

For everyone who can't go to Houston but still can make it to Denton on Friday. Pat is going to host on Friday, so feel free to come play.

Hope I can repay it some day with more than pizza, and please don't give up. You've improved since you picked up the game, no one can say how much farther you can go if you really try.

Tim, you're pretty good playing that really ass character, stay hungry. You would do better if you stoped autopiloting that 5A antiair. xD
cookie`, wakeup backdash or grab mixups are bad for you. You could get blown up really quickly, take my word for it. I would have said goodbye but you passed out on the floor.

I had a lot of fun last weekend, thanks a lot for hosting Pete. I feel real bad that I don't remember one of the Houston guy's name. But Issac and the P-Ciel player both improved a lot since Texas Showdown.

Big ups to inso for coming on down and bodying us all, playing you helped me learn a little bit more about the game and it's good to see how the level of play is elsewhere in the world.
Shoutouts to the houston crew that came down and played a few games with us; you guys are doing really well and it's great to see how you're hungry to play more; hopefully we'll meet up again in the future

Yeah, I realized that this morning. I might not even be able to show up to my own meet-up...

Everything alright, Tim?  Did you get into another car accident?
Yep. Two actually. A drunk driver hit my car while it was parked outside my apt. It's prolly totaled.
And then someone went straight in a turn only lane and hit me while I was turning left in my rental car...
Not the best luck with drivers lately. I think that I've been involved in more car accidents in the last 4 months then all the rest of my time driving. Like I think my number of total accidents has been multiplied by 4, and none of them were my fault either...

Hello everyone, I used to be mostly a KOF/GG player, though I did play MBAC as a side game most of the time (I used to mainly play as Kohaku/Nanaya Shiki).

Recently I've been trying to balance myself, thinking about playing a mix of MBAACC, SCV, and KOFXIII. I live somewhere in Frisco, TX. Currently, my only method of playing Melty is online (50/50 chance of good connection). Though soon, that'll probably change (I just don't know when). :slowpoke:

Btw, I'm a C-Ryougi main.
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: TheMaster_Rahl June 23, 2012, 12:43:24 PM
Hello there! Welcome to Melty in DFW (at least I'm assuming you mean the Frisco that is North of The Colony and Plano).

Well, there are some MB players that are kinda close by. You're not too far from Lewisville, Carrolton, and Richardson. Also, you're not far from Denton. There are players at all of these locations. Although I kinda doubt it, we may be able to pick you up to come to meet-ups until you can come on your own. It's worth asking about, so PM me if you might be interested in that.

We usually host Melty meet-ups in Denton, or we bring Melty to one of the meet-ups hosted by the guys in the Dustloop DFW thread(Carrolton/Richardson area). I usually post where Melty will be in this thread every week.

As far as netplay goes, I'm not sure who plays netplay in the area. I played a total of one time with Pfhor, who lives like 5 min away from me, and it was still bad. But I guess I can try again. I've actually been thinking about trying to play a little more netplay with the people in this area I know, as a tool to play more often. I don't know why, but I just find being on IRC constantly to be such a pain to keep up with, and I usually forget to log in when I have free time... I'll try out some net play though.

As far as communication goes, since there are not too many of us in DFW, I use texting and this thread as the 2 main ways to communicate with everyone. If you like, I can PM you my number for getting a hold of me. Otherwise, just PM me on these forums.

Again, welcome. I hope to meet you in person when you can make it to meet-ups.

Btw, I'm a C-Ryougi main.

Hey man, nice to meet ya!  Always happy to meet a fellow Ryougi player!  If you're ever in the Houston area, hit me up.  Melty players are super welcome here!

Though soon, that'll probably change (I just don't know when). :slowpoke:

Good meetup this weekend, I learned a little more, and was nice to play against everyone. There was talk about competitive catherine, and it would be nice to see where that goes.

Okay, most of us in Denton are busy Saturday. So this weekend we will have a meet-up on Sunday at Pat's place in Denton at about 3pm. Same place as last weekend. If you need the address, PM me or text me.
Hope to see you all there.

Is Sunday going to be a regular thing?  I thought you guys used to host only on Fridays / Saturdays?

Also, good stuff on those vids.  I was wondering when that video of us playing was going to pop up, e.g. the one where I kept spamming Ryougi's parry.  I was laughing so hard during that match....good times.

No. We prefer Saturdays, just like everyone else. It's just that there are other events on Saturdays that either Pat, Pfhor or myself go to, or our time is otherwise occupied that day. When that happens, we play on Sunday if we can't bring MB to whatever we are doing.

Also, good stuff on those vids.  I was wondering when that video of us playing was going to pop up, e.g. the one where I kept spamming Ryougi's parry.  I was laughing so hard during that match....good times.
Yeah, it was too funny. You should see some of the shenanigans that happen when me and Pat play.

99% sure I won't be able to make it, unless my plans change.  :nyoro: I'll text if plans change in the meantime, I'll keep practicing, already got one bnb I'm working on another.

For all of us not able to go to evo this weekend, we will be hosting a meet-up in Denton at Pat's place at about 3pm this Saturday. Sorry it took me so long to post this, but I had a final today that I spent all week failing at. I know the evo stream for MB is from 12-3pm here, so if you want to watch that and be late, that is fine. ;)

Hope to see you all there.

Okay, so pat is going to be out of town tomorrow. So, he cant host. But, if people still want to come up to Denton to play MB, I guess I can host tomorrow. My place is a lot smaller, but w/e. Just let me know if anyone needs the address. It's the same complex that pat used to live in, just a different building.

: TheMaster_Rahl July 27, 2012, 08:24:26 AM
Yo. So this weekend we will host a meet-up on saturday at pat's in denton @ ~3pm. Last few weeks have been kind of a lull here, so sorry for that. Hope to see people the weekend.
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: TheMaster_Rahl July 29, 2012, 12:14:57 PM
This coming weekend, I'm going to be on vacation with my family in North Padre, pretty much right across the bridge from Corpus. So you'll have to bug Pat about setting up next weekends meet-up.

I'll be uploading the vids from last weekend's meet-up soon.

Edit:
SRK thread here. (http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads%2Faug-25-2012-ark-v-1400-bonus-pots-feat-the-best-of-the-south-jacksonville-ar.158608%2F)

Yes I know that Summer Jam is happening at the same time, but is there anyone who's planning on going to ARK who'd like a MB side tourney? If there's enough interest I'd like to try to make it happen.
I'm kinda wanting to drive out to this event this year. Last 2 years I could not make it, but this year I think I can. Check out the link for details. Let me know if anyone is interested in going to this.

: CPhame August 17, 2012, 10:56:01 PM
Everybody ready for Ark V?  One more week!

Did anyone get confirmation on a place to stay yet?  Might be time to check in with the hosts.
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: TheMaster_Rahl August 18, 2012, 09:27:04 PM
Well, I think the answer is no, we in Denton/DFW will not go. Not enough ppl wanted/could go to make the trip worth it. Sry Pete. We'll have to meet up some other time.
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: CPhame August 20, 2012, 09:54:16 AM
No one's going? Man that sucks...

I already requested off, so I guess I'll make that eight hour drive by myself.  Anyone else interested, please let me know.
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: TheMaster_Rahl August 20, 2012, 10:21:09 AM
Yeah. If you are still going, I will go. I'm the only one that I know can go. :(
I do have an appointment on that Friday in the afternoon for my knee. But I could be ready to leave anytime after that. We could meet in Fort Worth at the same house you came to before.
Did you already request housing too?
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: CPhame August 20, 2012, 11:41:26 AM
Just now did.  And yeah, text me your address there again.  I can stop by there.

The heck happened to your knee this time?
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: TheMaster_Rahl August 20, 2012, 11:45:55 AM
Same ongoing issue. I had an MRI done. It showed a tare in the lateral meniscus. The tare is in the rear of my knee, but my pain is in the front of the knee. So since the pain is in the wrong area, and I show no signs that the tare is affecting me, the orthopedic doctor recommended physical therapy instead of surgery. So my 1st physical therapy secession is Friday.

Also, do you know when were you are planning to come here yet?
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: CPhame August 20, 2012, 12:38:25 PM
Probably Friday.  I just got a reply on the Ark V thread.  Most likely no housing for us.  Some of my friends from KC are going, so I'll ask them if they're getting a hotel room that would could split with (hopefully).  No guarantees.

We could also just leave the day of, on Saturday morning.
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: TheMaster_Rahl August 20, 2012, 09:03:18 PM
So, here is a plan, you drive here Friday, stay the night at my place in NRH, we drive out Saturday morning.
But if we don't have a place to sleep, then do you still want to go? My car is prolly not that comfortable.

Also, did you plan on entering any tourneys? That'd determine when we have to leave Saturday morning. Since I missed the online reg date, I'd have to pay at the door, and I'm not sure I wana pay $40 to drop Chie combos.
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: CPhame August 21, 2012, 09:41:43 AM
That sounds good to me.  The KC guys have a place secured now, but the TO just informed he might be able to come up with something.  No guarantees though, but hopefully this will all be settled real soon so we can stick with one plan.

I missed registration too, but only because I refuse to use paypal anymore.  And since everything's on Xbox, I might not enter anything at all aside from Melty.  I really want to play just about everything, lol.

Sunfish will host a meetup this saturday instead of jet/me, starting at noon and ending at 11pm. Go there for animeeee!! Text him regarding address and guest parking passes at 805-674-0262. He lives about 10 minutes away from jet.

Also, he says: " I've got 3 moniters + 1 xbox (possibly one more I can borrow from my roommate) + 1 ps3. If anyone can bring consoles / games it would be appreciated. I need some chairs too, my living room is pretty vacant at the moment, but I've got enough for like 8 people to actually sit down."
So yeah! Chairs, setups, copies of games appreciated. Please post or text me or whatever so we can keep track of number of people coming!

: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: Mightfo September 07, 2012, 04:21:32 PM
Sunfish posted some nice news and close-by directions for those who dont want to bother texting him again or wanted more details regarding bringing setups:
"Towing is turned off for guest parking for the meetup. I won't need to get you guys passes, so for anyone who sees this that is coming tomorrow. Guest parking is in the shopping district towards the Coit and spring valley intersection. If you're heading towards Coit, it's two turn-ins past my place, if you're heading towards the 75, it's the first turn in you can take. You'll see a big building that runs perpendicular to spring valley, guest parking is behind that. Not the best directions, so if you can't find it, just call/text me(805-674-0262) and I'll try and get you to the right place.

For the people bringing setups, you might wanna stop by my place first and drop off your stuff cause the walk is kinda far, or get in touch with me and I'll drive over and help you load stuff up.

Once you've made it to the parking lot, walk towards the apartment complex and turn left. Walk a little more, then go inside the gate and head that way until you've get to the second gate next to the pool. I'm the first apartment once you get through the second gate, it's right next to a pool, so if you don't see one you're in the wrong area. Good luck travelers!

Also, towing goes back into effect at 10, so plan on packing up before that so your car isn't towed. It's like $200 to get your car back."
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: TheMaster_Rahl September 07, 2012, 07:58:49 PM
Sry I have not texted people yet. I've been doing idiot things.
We are planning to go to Sunfish's meet-up tomorrow. Bringing a ps3 persona set-up and melty. So if you don't get a text from me, text sunfish for the address. I'm not driving and so don't know the address, but pfhor is and does.

Alright, this week we have three things going on:

Friday-I'm hosting a meetup, 3pm to about 11pm. I live at University of Texas at Dallas if you haven't been to one of my meetups before, PM me for directions/my number. BB and persona confirmed.
Eric and Ro already confirmed for coming so there will be hungry blazblue play there.

Saturday-D-town beatdown! Go for persona since that's the only thing that got decent turnout last time.http://www.facebook.com/events/461879200511435/ (http://www.facebook.com/events/461879200511435/)
There will be post-DTB casuals at Sunfish's. PM him on dustloop(or me here) or ask around the persona players at DTB for directions/his number/etc.

Weekdays-I dont know if you noticed, but "Random Naoto"(AKA "TXscrub" on srk) posted about how he's up for people coming over on weekdays for Persona. We've done that a bit in the past so hopefully maybe 3-6 of ya'll can do that one of the days this week. time to lazily quote:

: PureYeti
There is a guy at Richardson by the 75/635 intersection or Spring Valley Rd. He can host up some meetups on the weekdays at his apartment after 8 pm though. His phone number is (972)971-8600.

: Random Naoto
That'd be me. I'm trying to get some people over for tomorrow (Sunday) night just for some casuals, no real time frame. Send me a text message if you want to come hang out.

So yeah, text him or PM him on dustloop for info!!

And once again, please give me a heads up in post/text/pm if you're coming so I can plan needed setups.

Me and Pat went home for the holidays, but we will have a meet-up at my place in NRH, Saturday at 3pm.
Prolly wont be another one until after the break, or at least I wont go to or plan any more until I get back from Ohio after New Years.

Happy Holidays guys! :D
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?

We are back in Denton now.

I think that we are going to host a Melty meet-up in Denton this weekend. I'm not sure on the day yet, but I'll decide soon. It would start around 3pm central time.

I'll have at least some kind of stream going, though it may not be quite what I have in mind for the future.

And for anyone that wants to participate, I think I'm try and incorporate net-play into our meet-ups.
I think my plan for that is, I'm be logged into IRC and have the stream chat open on my laptop, while we stream and play from my beast desktop. Though, I'm not sure how the stream and net-play will interact with each other. Offline is just fine, but we will see. That prolly means that ima have to actually update to 1.4 rev... :bricks:

Cool, if I'm around the house this weekend I'll be sure to check it out. In case you didn't know, there is a way to access the stream channel through IRC. And I never had the chance to test it, but they tell me a good way to stream is to use Dxtory + Xsplit (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=272764).

I think that we are going to host a Melty meet-up in Denton this weekend. I'm not sure on the day yet, but I'll decide soon. It would start around 3pm central time.

It's going to be Sunday at 3pm central in Denton at me and Pat's place.

Cool, if I'm around the house this weekend I'll be sure to check it out. In case you didn't know, there is a way to access the stream channel through IRC. Do you mean that there is a public stream account that I could use on IRC? Also, I'm using OBS.
I'm using OBS because XSplit is not free and therefore bad, and FFsplit is bad.

What does Dxtroy do?
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: Inso January 10, 2013, 03:32:08 AM
Those stream chats on twitch's page are actually on their IRC network, so you can access them through IRC as long as you have the channel's password. You can find on google how to do it, but the only real difference is that you don't have to open a browser to check the stream chat, may not be worth the trouble in your case.

Dxtory captures the game screen and outputs into a virtual camera that you catch with xsplit, supposedly it's lighter and more practical than using any of xsplit's capture functions.

Xsplit doesnt have a free version anymore? D= That sux. Never heard of OBS before, is it any good?

Oh, I should be back from my trip by then, I'll be sure to watch it.

Yeah, I'm use my laptop for that.

Not sure if I need the software I have any lighter right now. But I'll keep it in mind if I do need it later.

Xsplit doesnt have a free version anymore? D= That sux. Never heard of OBS before, is it any good?

XSplit is free on the pirate bay... but I'm not sure it was ever free from their web site. They have a trail version that is free that has like shit for functionality.
I mean seriously, how am I suppose to trial some software when I cant get it to do what I need? :mystery:
They should have the trial be fully functional, and limit stream time instead...
I don't even want to pirate software, when the official one does that crap.
OBS=Open Broadcaster Software. I think it's good. I get no frame drops. But I'm not sure how much anyone should trust my opinion of streaming software...

So this can't happen. The meet-up and stream will still happen, but doing net play while streaming results in one of two things. Either the stream will look like shit and drop all the frames and we have net-play, or the stream looks great and net play is unplayable b/c of increased delay. Both of these things are unacceptable to me. So, there just wont be net play stuff on the stream. Sry to anyone that actually wanted to do this.

There is going to be a meet-up tomorrow, Sun in Denton at about 3pm ish. I'm not sure how many people are planning to come though. So I expect a small gathering.

I am going to have the stream set-up and running,
but I still have not found a way to record only the mic audio so that I can edit the commentary into my youtube recordings.

If anyone has any ideas on this, let me know.

Oops. Well, I just got confirmation from everyone here. No one is able to make it this time, and Pat is going to be out of town too. So there will be no meet-up or stream tomorrow.

I'll do something for sure next weekend though.

This weekend may be a no go as well for a meet-up. I've only got confirmation from Cookie. I know that Pat and Terrance can't make it. I'll know for sure later today. If it does take place, it will be on Sunday, in Denton at our apartment, at about 3pm.

Screw Sundays!

I am aiming for Saturday this weekend at Pat and I's place in Denton at about 3pm till whenever.
Gonna stream stuffs. I got a way to record only the commentary now, so I'll be able to upload the matches with commentary to youtube!

Hope to see you guys there!

Though the archives get deleted after a while. So I still save replays and upload to my youtube.

That is not a problem. Feel free to come by to play whenever you want. Just give me a heads up before you leave so I can tell you if I'm going to be here or now.

I'm knee-deep in work and other things lately, so I can't make it.  Do save an archive though.  Never did get to see those blindfolded Nero mirrors..
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: TheMaster_Rahl February 06, 2013, 12:13:12 PM
Well I'm not sure I even want to save the archives on Twitch. I get way better quality if I save and record replays. Now that I have a way to record only the audio commentary while I stream, I can include commentary too. I'll prolly just upload vids to youtube.

I'd be willing to get you since it is [relatively] close to where I work. I usually get off work at 4, and then head up there. It wouldn't be every meetup, maybe just this one tomorrow, [unless] you'd want to pitch in a little gas money. I'd give you a freebie tomorrow though. [because you play CIEL  :fap:]

But isn't Wylie like, East of Plano? It seems to me that calling it 'relatively close' is a bit of a stretch, wouldn't you say? It's like as much distance to Denton, but in the wrong direction.

Unless you take toll roads that is. It might not be as bad that way...

I'm sitting at the school now, and its 47mix2 + inbetween there and denton...  I've driven as far as allen a few times to "work" in a pc shop out there. But like I said, I wouldn't have a problem with it at least once, though it would get very costly, driving there, to and fro, and then home after that.

No, it is not easier to do it off that, it's about the same dificulty mo matter the version. Although, it is one of the ways to go into it midscreen. But I can only get 2 reps off it, although I think 3 is possible. It's harder to confirm into the loop in the corner off 214C.

I haven't found any info on it yet, but it's prolly in the DFW thread on Dustloop's Matchmaking or Matchfinding forum.(I can't remember what it's called now...)

Yo Pete. I think some of us are going to come down for 'Texas Showdown' (not 100% sure that is the name). We went to one before that was also at an anime convention. It was kinda bad, with power and space and org... but I think this year they have their own venue. I'm pretty sure it was (and is) called Texas Showdown. Think you might be available?

That is the original plan, more or less. Prolly more like leave Houston Sunday afternoon, and leave DFW Friday whenever people are done with work/school.

Speaking of... I just got my scheduled for next quarter...
Thu, Fri, Sat...

My classes are morning. 9am - 2:30ish. Sat is 9am - 1:30ish.

If you mean for Texas Showdown, um actually we'd have to leave DFW Friday no later than noon I think.
Some of the people going would want to enter P4A at 6pm.

Well, it kinda looks like I'm not going to be able to go now. As I'd have to miss 2 days of classes to go to it.

And I think that the ones who are going are staying at the venue. You have pfhor's number? You might wana talk to him about it now since I'm most certainly out of the picture for planning.

We typically don't do anything on weekdays. Or at least I don't.

Q, if you read this, I can host on Thursdays, and some Fridays, however it wouldn't start till about 5pm.
Also if you don't feel like going to dust loops on weekends.

Tim what's the link so I can find out where dust locations are?

Check the 1st post, or the last couple pages in the thread. The times and locations will be in one or both. I think we are going to where ever it is going to be on Saturday.

Good news: I don't have required saturdays again so I can host it up on saturdays and fridays.
Bad news: I don't get OT anymore.

Sorry, I'm a little late posting this, but I will not be available this weekend to host. If you want to play melty this weekend, you should go to the dustloop meet-up, where ever it is going to be, on Saturday. There will be a melty set-up there, along with several melty players.

: TheMaster_Rahl April 19, 2013, 07:14:37 PM
I'm late again posting this, but I know that I'm going to be too tired to go to the dustloop meet-up on Saturday. So when I get back to Denton from class on Saturday, I'll play a little bit then, but I'm tired as hell, so I'd like a break. I'd say to go to the dustloop meet-up if you want to play melty.

Hey guys. I'm not going to be able to host melty this weekend b/c of a birthday party for one of my younger relatives. So I'd say to go to the dustloop meet-up for melty.

For those in Arlington, I can play tomorrow (Friday) if you'll want. Either at my place in NRH or at FishDuck's place. Text me if you guys are interested.

This is probably a bit late in asking, but just wondering if there are any Melty players going to A-Kon? I'll probably be around, but unable to take a setup. Just figured I'd ask.

So, I am currently in pittsburgh, but chances are looking like I am moving back to texas ( houston ) in a month or two, and then hopefully within like 4-6 months will be moving to the austin area with a roommate. If anyone want to play some mb this summer let me know ;D

I doubt I'll have money to pay entry. But, it would be a shame to miss playing melty with people that travel. Maybe I can bring my set-up to the hotel, but not play in the venue space. You gonna have a room at the hotel? Which day would you want to play?

I only know one person in Houston that plays, and that's CPhame. There were a couple other people that played the last time I was there, but I have no idea how to get in touch with them, so CPhame is prolly you best bet.

And for Austin, I know Skwuck plays, and there are likely to be at least a couple more that play.

So those would be the people to get in touch with, I think.

Maybe, but I don't have a room >; I'm with friends who have not much planned and are hopign to stay and one of their places but it's up in the air. If it's too much hassle, that's fine, as I'll still want to come up to DFW area for a meetup session during the summer anyways~ But we'll see. I was half-hoping someone would happen to have a setup there but if nothing's confirmed maybe I'll skip out on taking my stick. If you decide to try something though, keep in touch! :3

Verifying this but also with a bit of sad news - I'm moving out of Austin at the end of July. >: And then mid-August I'll have moved to Washington state... I'm gonna miss Austin though. That said, If you're in Houston before then, then trying to get to you for a meetup isn't unreasonable :3 Keep me posted?

I'll probably try to host another gathering here in Houston sometime in the summer.  It'd be good to get all the big cities together!

Kinda curious, but when do you guys think we could do a big meetup like last time? Just thought I'd get some kind of thinking about it going.

Hey, this weekend we will go to the dustloop meet-up on Saturday, so come to that for melty.
Sry about not being able to host for a while. Family stuff came up like every weekend .

Kinda curious, but when do you guys think we could do a big meetup like last time? Just thought I'd get some kind of thinking about it going.

I would be interested in hosting something like that again. As for when, I'm not sure when would be good, but maybe after evo. So anytime after the weekend of July 14. If that sounds good to you, then I'll start trying to nail down a date with locals here. If that's too late, then also let me know, and maybe we can try for sometime in June.

Around that time I think will work great - I should be just about done with school. It just has to be before July 31st for me. I'll look into it a bit more to be safe though and ask my friend or others about it too.

Okay, so I'm pretty sure that I'm going to be moving soon to North Carolina for a job. So I'm prolly going to be too busy this month to plan or host a Texas gathering. It can still happen, but someone else will have to plan and host it.

Sry.

Yo guys. Just dropping by to say that I am fully moved into an apartment in Jacksonville, NC. Got my tubes hooked up and all. I hope that melty stays alive in DFW while I'm gone. I'll be sure to come out to any meet-ups that happen to be going on while I'm in town in the future.

PZ guys.

So.  I'm thinkin of trying to get melty meetups running again some time, probably on Sundays so they don't conflict with them dustloop meetups.  I'm at a new place in Lewisville now, so hopefully it should be a little less of a drive for most people.  I guess just lemme know if people are still interested in playing.  Also keep in mind that the only setup I have has no sound soooo... yeah.  We'll need people to bring some or I'll need to get speakers.  :psyduck:
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: Qpunch August 29, 2013, 08:31:38 AM
I'm up for meetups on Sundays (or even weekdays, preferably.) As for the setup issue, I've been in the process of purchasing a new monitor for quite some time, if this shit goes down,I wouldn't mind buying a monitor for meetups, just need time to gather up the money. :nyoro:

Hopefully this time I can go to more meetups and learn more about the game than what I got from grinding training mode. :psyduck:
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: Denthorn August 29, 2013, 08:42:02 AM
Unfortunately, I can't do weekdays.  I work Monday-Friday, and the best I could do would probably be starting at like 6 on Tuesday or Thursday.  Even then, that's pushing it.

Also, I've been meaning to pick up a new monitor for awhile now.  Maybe I'll just do that and not worry about speakers.  It also occurs to me that I should probably go post this on dustloop... Not sure how many people still even check these boards.

: Fishduck August 29, 2013, 06:14:35 PM
Paaaat. Get a damn phone. I work in flower mound (main street lsvlle is only a few minutes away) and work m-f 7:30-4. I could attend tsundays. and i have a monitor with nosound. (let me know if you want a roomie)

Let me tell you, Pat LOVES roommates so much, that he moved into a single bed apt, just so he could cuddle that much easier.

We could always try hatsuki grapples IRL.
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?
: Denthorn August 30, 2013, 09:24:51 PM
So I'm thinking of starting meetups next weekend.  Probably gonna pick up another monitor so I actually have sound on my setup next week.  Also, I'll be at jet's meetup tomorrow, so hopefully I'll see some of y'all there.  Been too long since I played melty T_T.

: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?

Gonna be running some melty this sunday at my new place in lewisville.  Anyone that needs the address send me a PM!  I'm not up in Denton anymore.  Also, if you can bring a setup, please do, I've only got the one.  Btw, I'm thinking the standard 3 till whenever for timing.
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?

So, kinda late notice, but is anyone interested in playing this sunday?

I can't make it this Sunday cause I have to go to a funeral, i'll probably be tired as fuck afterwards.
: Re: Texas community? lawl, wut?

So, just to clarify I'm not gonna be hosting tomorrow.  Need to get some stuff done.  Hopefully will next week though.

Ok so I'm thinking this weekend, with the ranbats running and all, we could just do that instead of a meetup.  I'll probably also end up running something on Saturday of next week since Terrance can't make it this weekend and I didn't run anything last week.  (Can't do it next Sunday, already have plans).  Sound good?

Yep.  Was a meetup yesterday in Dallas...  I'll try to figure out ahead of time what we're doing this next weekend and post it up on here by at least Wednesday, Thursday by the latest.  Will probably have to do things on Saturday, not sure I'll have time Sunday.
