: MissedFRC August 23, 2009, 11:25:55 AM
After running a side-tourney yesterday at Northwest Majors, I got some decent turnout and I've decided to make a thread to hopefully get some new players and get a scene for AA going. A lot of the people up here also play Guilty Gear and Blazblue. We usually have weekly meetings in the vicinity, usually in Tacoma or Federal Way. Games often played are GG and BB (now including AA!) and just some random stuff when we get bored.

There are no AA arcade machines here, sadly :(

Our events are of course local tournaments, including Northwest Majors (Washington tourney), Random Select (Oregon tourney) and Vancouver Overture (Canada tourneys!).

Don't be shy now  :psyduck:

So PM your info and I'll put it up in the first post!

ANNOUNCEMENTS!:

None!

PM me to have some casuals.

I've gotta play after my embarrassing defeats at the tourney, it doesn't help that aoko is hard, and she's different now. Not sure who I'm gonna play yet but it'll probably some version of aoko, some version of satsuki, or some version of ryougi. There's an off chance I'll pick someone else.

Well practice damn you :psyduck:

And come to Tae's more often or something, we'll probably have a setup every time from now on.
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players
: tolore August 23, 2009, 04:54:15 PM
You guys don't post up when you're doing MB meets! I've been watching for em ever since AA came out. I'll especially come any time after today, after tomorrow I'll be champions onlineless until the 28th. It also takes me an hour to drive down there so I need a little bit of warning.
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players
: MissedFRC August 23, 2009, 06:23:38 PM
Well we haven't had one yet, since the game just came out  :slowpoke:

Tae should be getting his actual copy soon so he's already got a set-up, but I'll be sure to let you know when we do.
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players
: tolore August 23, 2009, 06:35:00 PM
Good, I'm still not sure if I'm going to buy it or not yet, one of my friends was thinking of buying it but I won't be able to talk to him till school starts again, if he does I'll probably just play with him.
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players

Make him come too, we need MORRRRE
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players
: tolore August 23, 2009, 06:49:03 PM
We'll see, his like way overly generous and stuff though so he takes on way too much work at school so he's often low on time.
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players

You gonna host another MBAA thing at Random Selects? I heard it's happening this September.
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players
: MissedFRC August 25, 2009, 12:03:37 AM
Sure will! It should go more smoothly this time since Mark runs it, I can probably guarantee setups rather than losing them midway through :slowpoke:

I'll be doing double-elim this time though, the round-robin took a little too long.
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players
: Munsu August 25, 2009, 12:38:12 AM
But that means I'll only have 2 chances to play... :psyduck:

Apparently there's a cabinet in South Hill Mall (in Puyallup), according to someone on SRK. They didn't specify AC or AA but I'm going to assume AA.
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players
: MissedFRC January 04, 2010, 03:11:27 PM
Hm, that's interesting. It's probably AC but I'll have to find out.
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players
: Zeyl January 09, 2010, 01:02:05 AM
Last time I went to the arcade in South Hill Mall, it was AC ver.A and the buttons weren't in the right order (something like DCAB). Told them a couple of times but it never got fixed although that was maybe June of last year.
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players
: MasterT January 09, 2010, 06:08:29 PM
The guy on SRK mentioned the buttons being in the wrong order so yeah its probably MBAC.

There was a MBAA scene here.  I think I scared them all off.

This might be a bit far, but we are having a Melty Blood AA, Blazblue CS, and Guilty Gear AC tournament at Norcal Install on the 28th of this month. If interested, come down here:
http://www.meltybread.com/forums/tournaments-and-events/norcal-install!-v-2-sat-august-28th-2010-%28we-hitconfirm-everything!%29/

Having more players is a good thing. Post in the thread if you can come, 'cause we're gonna need to show people on the stream that these games can be hype... and alive.

Hey, just a friendly reminder to anyone in the Seattle area that wants to game that we meet up weekly on Fridays at Digipen College. The school is currently closed right now but will be opened I believe next week? Make sure to come by! There's usually BB:CS and GG:AC set ups too for those interested.

Digipen is open again starting today! The meets start after 6 PM at the earliest inside the college, if you're interested in showing up and have never been there, you can text me with the number I provided a couple posts above.

Now that MBAACC is out, I was hoping there would be more people interested. There's a small local scene for melty around the UW, Seattle area (around maybe 4-5 people) and hopefully we can expand on that number! We usually post times and meets on the following facebook group:

http://www.facebook.com/groups/252120041483549/

Hope to play more people!

Northwest MB is completely dead? NO, WE'RE BRINGING IT BACK.

http://www.facebook.com/groups/252120041483549/

A couple of us have been playing a lot lately, and we're hoping to get more people in order to have tournaments and bigger events. We meet once a week, please stop by
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players
: Phanther January 31, 2012, 11:12:00 AM
Oregon feels soooo dead. I managed to get three people at Oregon State to try and pick up Melty. I just doubled the Melty player size at Oregon.

OSU's having a LAN party March 2-4 weekend, no details yet. But I can almost guarantee you it'll have SSF4. It's not Melty, but I'll be there with my computer and stick to play anyone that wants to.

Hey guys, were going to try and set something up as a side tournament for Northwest Majors 4. The tentative date is in June as of right now, but details are still being hammered out. Let me know if there is general interest; I will talk with the tournament organizer to see if we can get something setup

i know this is short notice, but i'm going to be in the udistrict area, which is supposedly near the uw area, for the entire weekend for a tournament. i'll be free most of friday(tomorrow) afternoon and hopefully sometime during the weekend, so if anyone is up for some melty, i would be down.
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players
: lain102300 March 22, 2012, 08:20:38 PM
What times specifically? Most of UW melty is generally available in the evenings to nighttime, probably after 6 PM (we are a nocturnal bunch).
: Re: The Pacific Northwest! Washington, Oregon and Idaho Players

i don't think the weekends are available, but i will be okay for melty all day after 3pm friday

hopefully nothing too late either

Hey so we have this confirmed! We are meeting at UW at Paccar Hall at 8:00 PM. I'll update on the room we'll be at, but we'll be more than likely in the basement. We'll be running this here.

Most guys will probably be playing UMvC3 and such, but we'll be playing Melty regardless. PM me and i'll give you my number.

We'll be at room 191, but the building will be locked since it's after hours, so just contact me.

There was only one tournament in seattle over the weekends and it was a smash tourney. Plus your signature was sionspectre so we guessed your handle was probably sion when the results for the tourney came out.

"Untitled" Fighting Game Tournament Featuring Blazblue, Skullgirls, Melty Blood, and King of Fighters.

The Venue is Gamebreakerz, located at :
4111 A Street Southeast Auburn, WA 98002
(253) 833-8282

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Contact Information:

Landis Huey

253-298-8026

huey253@hotmail.com

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I started this event in hopes that our community could start a local monthly tournament scene for the games that don't get much exposure and or tournaments in the Northwest.
My goal is that this series might evolve into something big with the help of our local community's attendance and participation. This month's tournament will serve as a test run, and to
see how everything works out with the venue and time constraints. I plan to add/subtract games depending on how things go this month. Persona 4 Arena will be added in August.
The venue is really nice and has a fair amount of room, but we will need people to bring setups so that the tournaments run smoothly. There is a small $3 venue fee that needs to be paid
when you walk in. The event will be streamed via twitch.tv at an unannounced url.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Main Games:

KOF XIII (PS3/360?)

BlazBlue CSEX(Ps3)

Melty Blood (PC)

Skullgirls (PS3/360?)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Schedule:

6/29/12

Singles Tournaments:

Game – Entry Fee – Start time

Blazblue EX – $5 -8pm

KOF XIII – $5 – 8pm

MbCC -- $5-- 6pm

Skullgirls $5 -- 6pm

———————————————————————————————————–

We NEED setups! If you can bring a monitor and or console, please let me know. I think Gamebreakerz already has a couple Asus monitors and xbox360s, but we'll need much more than that that to make this experience go so smoothly.

List of Setups
1.

———————————————————————————————————–

There is a bunch of food within walking distance (across the street) and eating in the venue is okay as long as you are respectful. (Don't make a mess, if you do, clean it up).

So, do zero people play this game in Oregon still?

I play. I'm around Portland/Clackamas until September 21. Then I'll be in Corvallis.

To anyone in Oregon, we actually have a scene centralized at OSU and Corvallis, although a few are coming up to Portland for a couple terms.

If anyone wants to come, OSU is having a LAN soon which majority of our Melty scene is going to: https://www.facebook.com/events/316756781760625/

Hey,

I'm relocating to Bellevue and should be situated in early August. Is the melty scene alive?

There are people who know of melty blood in seattle and can play it with varying degrees of proficiency. They usually meet in UW every friday.

As far as getting them to play you, that may be more difficult. If you force them to stop playing tohou shoot-em-waifus and mega man speedruns, they may play a few games with you, albeit most begrudgingly.

Yeah that sounds about right.  We meet at UW, and if you actually want to play Melty, people will play.

Hey, just moved to WA myself, situated in Redmond for now, though this may change to another nearby location maybe in the next month, but I'm in the area for good. But I may try to make it out to whatever meets for melty will be there as well. Looking forward to meeting other players.

Any idea what the general fighting game scene is around the Seattle area as well?

So as far as Melty Blood goes, it hasn't gotten much play around the area. That being said, if people ever wanted to play, a couple of us will be glad to play.

If you play Street Fighter and have a facebook, you can join the Northwest Street Fighter group on facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/144680008921676/

Here's the next "anime" tournament coming up in the Seattle area (Auburn, WA about 30 minutes from Seattle). https://www.facebook.com/events/619431271421629

We also meet at UW during the school year, and we're on hiatus until school starts up again.

I am also settled in the area now.
