Hi, I'm bellreisa and I play Melty Blood: Actress Again on the PS2. Please come session, I am so sad and lonely by myself.

Bellhaus
28922 Newport Rd
Temecula, CA 92591
(909) 539-7354

oh no personal info on the internet

Usually I'm available every weekend starting Friday night. Since I'm relatively far notice is preferred. There's a few other players around (TGS, Lokanas) and some that can travel down here.

GGs. I might have to count myself out on Bell's place for this weekend, I have plans on Saturday and I'm probably going to be hitting up FFA for the MB there on Sunday. Also I'm probably going to start modding the top post to help make things more organized.

Edit: I'm hosting next Saturday 10/03/09 confirmed.

Hey, haven't been around the community in a while, but there's been talk about getting AA into the lineup for Denjin Arcade's 2nd Ranking Battle Season and I'd like to get an idea of who would be interested. The tournaments would be held on PS2 at five bucks a head, plus two more for the console cover charge, and all tournament gameplay would be recorded and probably go up on the Denjin Arcade website. I know Simi Valley is way out of the way for a lot of people (especially guys like bell), but at Interface/FFA we were getting turnouts of 35-40+ people every month and it would be great to just get even 12-16 people to come down a bit more regularly than that.

Time to form carpools! This would be cool if we got enough participation.

I'd be down for Denjin as it's a bit closer to me than FFA. Though in the midst of getting license so I'd have to wait a couple months.

Tim, if you come out, Tom and I have to take you to dinner man. :toot:
???  Sure thing, I'll never pass up free food.

I'll most likely be going to one of the FFA tourneys, but I'm just waiting to hear some feedback on whether more people will probably be going on the 11th or the 25th.  I wanna see a decent turnout when I come down!

Google Maps says I'll be going along this route (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Las+Vegas,+NV+89108&daddr=10363+Balboa+Blvd.+Granada+Hills,+CA+USA&hl=en&geocode=&mra=ls&sll=35.04349,-117.020874&sspn=3.264847,4.938354&ie=UTF8&ll=35.133387,-116.828613&spn=3.310567,4.938354&z=8), so maybe I could carpool some other people there if they're not horribly out of the way?

Notes about my place:
1) Shower before you come because my place is not that big and I'd rather not have it smell like ass
2) If you have an extra TV/PS2/etc, you might want to bring it because I only have three CRTs and two PS2s here.
3) You might want to bring your own food or drinks because I am poverty and I don't have any to give you. There is a supermarket and food places within .1 miles of my house though.

GGs. I had a lot of fun today. It was great playing XieXie. It was too bad not many people came and I didn't get to play Spidey and Obaloney. I'm definitely gonna practice up and go to more gatherings.   :toot:

I also had a question about sticks. Mostly on what is easier to find and mod, since I don't plan on playing anything other than MBAA and GG. I don't think of getting a PS3/Xbox360 since they're pricey, I'm not sure what to buy. Any recommendations?

Okay, I figure I should post in here as well as the FFA thread.

I'm going to be coming down to the FFA ranbat on Oct. 25th, and I'll most likely have at least one person with me.  If it's just one friend and I, or just me, could I get a place to stay the night before (Sat. 24th)?

Since it was just brought to my attention that CUT is on the weekend of the 25th, thereby almost guaranteeing a small turnout for FFA that weekend, lets do some shit this weekend.  I don't care where, but as long as you guys can get some people together, I'm driving down for it (and prolly with 1 friend tagging along).

EDIT:
Okay, so Xie just told me that since CUT is only on Sat. there might not be as bad a turnout as expected.  If there turns out to be enough people going then, I'll go to FFA over random get together this weekend.

So the weekend is getting closer and it looks like I won't have a car since my parents are going to use it for their Vegas trip this weekend. But, re-read that last statement. It means they won't be around. I'd be willing to host for like, Saturday. I hosted AM2 way long time ago at their house and it had like 13-14 people iirc. Let me know what you guys think and contact me directly via aim or something.

Bell already offered to host? I'm set to carpool anyone from corona to temecula (which is the longer drive). And Bells place is closer for Lolisauce, and he has more room/tv. Dunno about changing location, but people can decide.
: Re: West Coast People Not At AI

: Re: West Coast People Not At AI

Friday - Saturday would be best I think.
: Re: West Coast People Not At AI
: Spidey October 15, 2009, 09:24:49 PM
I dont care where people go. I can help carpool people either way. I pan to get out of work tomorrow around 4-5ish. Sat might be best, I dont see anyone sleeping over and HFs like we would normally do at Bells. So I'm up for whatever.
: Re: West Coast People Not At AI
: LoliSauce October 15, 2009, 10:18:39 PM
I can get there by Friday super late, but I can stay until Sunday afternoon-evening.  I dunno how far HF's parent's place is, but it sounds like it's further away than Bell's place, and I'm bringing one other person with me this time if space is an issue.  Keep me updated.

EDIT:
Okay, so talking it over a little, it sounds like bell's place would be more convenient, mostly due to space.  The only downside is that hf and alex won't be able to come if it's at bell's?  It's about the same drive for me to get to bell's or to hf's place, so really I don't care that much where it's being held.

Anyway, I can bring a full setup (tv, ps2, mbaa).  Should I?
: Re: West Coast People Not At AI
: ObiWanBaloney October 16, 2009, 02:52:31 AM
I'll be able to come if I can get my friend to feed the cat while I'm gone (if it's gonna be a two-day thing) and I'd definitely like to come so I'll try my hardest to make it.

But is it going to be as soon as tomorrow or is there a set time? Because if some of us were to carpool or something it would be nice to know for sure ahead of time.

Lolisauce and a friend arriving to Bells tomorrow through Sunday. I can carpool anyone from Corona to Bells, so if OC folks want to stop at my place thats cool. Hopefully the two new guys (Rei, and other guy) can carpool over, also Daimao, and anyone else who wants to/can come will. Should have about 4 setups going hopefully.

Dark Geese apparently wants to hold a big Vegas tourney for various fighters, and a buddy of mine who's helping me build a melty scene convinced him to include MBAA.  I don't have a date because everything's not solidified yet, but if turnout is big to this, we might have a huge jump-start to local melty interest.  I'll be posting in the tourney board and again in a few regional threads whenever we get a date, so that hopefully Cali, AZ, and any other people nearby will be able to make it.

Gathering and a stream? Damn. Stream just never happens when I'm around, no matter where I am. :-\ Good to see that this went down though. Dunno if AZ streamed this past weekend or not. But I was beat from the long drive back so I couldn't go to their session.

Sure thing, next weekend it is. Looking forward to meeting more players.
Since these go all weekend, I can definitely make it out, I'll just be late. (~10PM arrival)

You covered on displays and PS2's? I could probably contribute an extra station.
(No sticks though, the PS3 and 360 HRAPs behind me have left me more than slightly bitter about them picking PS2.)

So if you do need/want to carpool we need to figure out when we want to leave to and from Bells to best benefit everyone coming along. If everyone is going to be picky on leave times I am just going to go solo.

I'll drive anyone who needs a ride for the low cost of [Couch's gas tank never reaches E]. (Designated driver services available!)

: rmfcouch January 15, 2010, 12:05:00 AM
Well, in my head, Temecula means 71S-91E-15S. (This is the correct city, right? Unless I'm vaguely remembering some other poster who isn't Bell who mentioned Temecula?)

I'll drive anywhere any time because driving is awesome. Keep my gas tank filled up and I'll take you wherever the hell you want to go. (Somewhere fun, at least.)

First time there, was a small hangout but it was a blast. Most melty i got in a while.Awsome games to Bellresia, HFBlade, Lolisauce, Xie & Dippy. Also good seeing Spidey, Rmfcouch, Tempered and other ppl i may have forgot to mention.

Memoriable moments for me:
-The cat in one place where no one would have suspected.
-Melty Blood in English
-"Can you dodge this"?
-FShiki's Justice punch & his retarded j5b.
-Aoko's damn kick.
-Troll Points
-Ppl hyped/aww'd with my attempts with that Hisui combo.
-All my efforts completely in vain with 1 FMiyako combo.
-gettin angry at other character's projectiles being faster/safer than Hisui's (Aoko, WLen, Ciel)
-BS j2bb shinanegins
-My discovery of Dash back, j6b nonsense.
-Just seeing old faces again.
-Getting that 1 win against HF's FAoko after like 20 losses.. (it was totally worth it)
-Blue ciel vs blue hisui on blue stage. It was all kinds of blue.

Hope to see u guys again fo sho.

Edit: moment added

Once again, thanks to bell for hosting and Dippy for tagging me along. It was cool to hang out with you guys again and I got to play a lot of matches with different characters. Looking at the stream is a lot of fun especially when the crowd noise was enabled.

The highlights of my stay were probably (all can be found on the stream if you're bored enough to look through all of it):
- Hisui matches against Numakie
- Ries vs F-Maids matches
- Ries mirrors with bell. Why did I do this again? :psyduck:
- Taking 6K against F-Miyako and making a miraculous comeback the same round.
- Landing 3 Ryougi last arcs in a series of matches. Sorry Lokanas. I couldn't help myself. :'(

Have fun at AM6. Probably won't be able to attend but I'll see what I can do.

As an aside, if anyone needs stick repairs/mods/fixes/etc., I'm feeling confident enough to do it now. Just bring me the parts and if it's not a big job (broken connector, solder, etc.) I'll help out. I'd probably charge for a mod, though, since that can take a bit of time.

You gotta come to Ventura though, since my workbench is here. :teach: Or if you got a soldering iron and space to work, I'll travel for gas money. :V

Yo, it was a blast fellas.  Thanks for having me, especially on such short notice.  The drive home was hell though.  I ended up driving right into the craziest storm in the mountains on the 15.  There was so much rain and fog I could barely see the lanes!  Scariest drive I've ever had.   :psyduck:

lol at Numakie's hate for my TRUE LOLI DAMAGE!  Also, troll point matches was definitely the best.

Honestly, I feel like I've leveled up recently.  I was actually playing on par with a couple people I consider a lot better than me (though Xie and HF still beasted on my face as usual).

Indeed. The road to Evo will be a long and taxing one. Although it's at Evo now, we still need to prove that it brings in numbers and all the tourneys leading up to Evo are good opportunities.

Also, my chances of attending AM6 have gone up. Not for the best reasons, but eh.

If melty vegas comes up for Burnt Toast 2, would we be able to get some cheaper housing with someone than forking up the money for staying at the hotel?  We'll prolly have the same four people rolling up as were going to go to AM6, but it's still kind of up in the air right now who can go and who can't.

Oh, also apparently some BB players might come up too, but I don't know if they're going to try and tag along with us or not.  Anyway, tentatively I'm just looking for room for 4.  Floorspace or whatever is fine, it doesn't matter to me.

Anyone wanna hit up AI instead?
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: rmfcouch February 27, 2010, 01:34:26 PM
I'll go wherever the games are. AI is really close to me so it's convenient, but potentially expensive (especially against Xie).

As for equipment, I have only one PS2 stick. (Go Honcam.)
And my monitor is starting to cook the AC adapter again. I'll rip it open and see if its a quick fix, otherwise, my setup isn't happening.
I can still bring my PS2 if someone has a spare display.

If people want to come down on Friday and stay over to avoid driving a lot in a day I'm cool with that. If you want to stay Sunday that's cool too but I wouldn't expect too many people to do that.

Also I don't really make AI runs, I live like 70 miles away and work full-time

so far people who have expressed interest:

sal_says, rmf_couch, MRHAN, Spidey

people who will probably come anyways:

Good times, Spidey, TGS, Lokanas, aika

Drunken mbaa/ddr/bad movie is more than worth the drive, hype for next weekend!
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: Spidey April 05, 2010, 07:06:02 PM
So Bell gathering this upcoming weekend (either fri/sat, or sat/sun) for those who want to come play drunk/serious streamed mb, maybe play some drunk ddr, watch a bad movie, hang out etc.

So far it will prob be the usual attendees: Bell, Lokanas, Aika (maybe), myself, and TGS

If you want to come and drink in addition to playing all day/night please bring a bottle of something. Me, Bell/Aika usually provide but its only enough to cover us regulars so more people= more drinks.

Notice: If you say you are going to come, PLEASE COME or let us know your not going to make it. No more of this flaking out last minute shit. If you dont want to come or are not sure then dont post/PM/IM etc saying you are going to then flake out and dont even leave message say anything. Doing this henceforth is punishable by banning of future AM's, BelBQ's, French Toast gatherings, Drunken movie night, etc. And if you dont know what the above events are your missing the hype  :emo:
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: f-wlen ice loop April 05, 2010, 07:37:59 PM
banning is unnecessary i just think it's pretty dumb people are like yeah bell i'm coming for sure and then they don't say a word when they don't come

edit: no, seriously, spooky gets like 15 people at his place, az has three setups going, and i can't get 3 mb players? what a joke.

: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: ZetaStriker April 06, 2010, 08:05:31 PM
I'm currently trying to convince some friends of mine down here in San Diego to take up Melty Blood, even though none of us have ever seriously played a fighting game competitively before. I can't promise quality, due to our relative inexperience as far as high level play is concerned, but at least we're well beyond button mashing and can add some bodies at these events. I'll let you know if I have any success, and at worst, I may try to head out to join you guys alone one weekend.

What are the details on these "events" anyway? Do you host them at your place off the PS2 version? And do you run it with fight sticks or regular Dual Shocks?
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: f-wlen ice loop April 06, 2010, 08:31:08 PM
They're hosted at my house on PS2 on weekends. Bringing your own controller/stick is recommended.

Drinking shouldn't be a problem. I can say one of the three of us will be joining in almost definitively, I'll be our DD, and the other may or may not depending on how much he's recovered from the embarrassment of getting violently ill and allowing another friend to rampage across his house the last time he tried drinking in excess. XD

As for our status, I've gotten tentative "yes"s from both of them, although of course scheduling will play a role as well. We're still polishing up our skills, and I'm the only one that's picked a main (F-Seifuku Akiha), but we should be down for testing our mettle and making fools of ourselves should "drunken DDR" see play again. Just let me know when the next meetup will be, and I'll try to get us there.
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: f-wlen ice loop April 18, 2010, 07:26:07 PM
Next meetup is this following weekend as always, we might be on Super SF4 for a while though. Don't worry about the skill factor, it's all in fun.
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: Lenftw April 18, 2010, 10:16:12 PM
*Crossposted from Dustloop, but I'm posting this here cause I want to know the level of interest from SoCal.  So here are my following concerns:

1) Would SoCal be willing to get their top 5 players to compete in a NorCal vs. SoCal exhibition match?  If so, then who are the big MB names of the SoCal community
2) Do people still play Guilty Gear?
3) Is the 2nd week of August a good day for you all?

: Coopa
Also, Winson's birthday is May 15th. I expect all of you to be there to celebrate his birthday with lots of CAKE.

TaoFTW, we need to talk. Got to inform you about the logistics with IPW and stuff regarding the event. Don't get your hopes up yet though. You still got a lot of work to do, but it's still very possible.

But since IPW's support at Fanime (well, we will be at Super NCR, but the point is on paper supporting you) might help you get a sponsor by Aksys, I highly recommend you talk to Haunts.

I'm still busy up to my ass with work and, frankly, I've been busy trying to get them done in SOME particular order.  SO, keeping that in mind, I appreciate your efforts.  The reality is that I need to have somebody back me up in case I can't pitch this minor.  In the event that something - outside of my control - happens, I need to know that we can have backup.

With a fair amount of meditation and feedback, here's my - unofficial - pitch:

Guilty Gear AC (Hosted by: KatanaDash & Tenkai)
- 2v2
- Singles
- 5v5 NorCal vs. SoCal Exhibition

Melty Blood AA (Hosted by: Tsubasa & Dakanya)
- 2v2
- Singles
- 5v5 NorCal vs. SoCal Exhibition

Blazblue CS (Hosted by: Spirit Juice & Aginor)
[INDENT]- 2v2
- Singles
- 5v5 NorCal vs. SoCal Exhibition

Tekken 6 (*Pending?)
- 2v2
- Singles
- *5v5 NorCal vs. SoCal Exhibition

ST Turbo (**Pending?)
- Singles [On Dreamcast]

* = I want to talk to the Tekken community and see what's their take on this gig.  I, barely, dabbled into their scene and don't want to leave a bad impression.

** = I, also, don't have much say in the ST community, so this is still up in the air.

***

We simply don't have the staff and volunteers to run a, grandose, minor.  So, based on feedback from the community and tournament organizers, SSF4 is out of the question.  The whole point of NorCal INSTALL! is to revive a - supposed - dead scene with hopes to extend our reach to a new generation of FGers.

As for the Aksys sponsor, I can only hope and - cross my fingers - that they received my voicemail and respond ASAP.  And I sure hope that Koogy would be, more than willing, to lend us a hand.  Thanks for the advice Mr. Coopa.  I will give you a free 720 on my Rawrgna.

And since Winston is having a BDAY, here's the new schedule:

5/1: NCI GGAC, MBAA, T6 Ranbat
5/8: SVGL BBCS Doubles
5/15: GINSENG LAN PARTY! *Pending
5/22: SVGL BBCS Singles
5/29: Fanimoo

Things to do to get Minor high-n-rolling:
- Secure a venue: (Convention Space or Hotel)
- Secure sponsors: (AksysGames, KOOGY-CON)
- Contact big names from SoCal & NorCal: (Haunts, Mike Z, Goryus/CopperDabbit, etc.)
- Organize, discreet, MM: (SPRTJUICE SAILOR MOON MM)
- Organize, discreet, sidebets?: (Coopa, you're going have to help me on this one)
- Equipment and setups: (What's the best way to secure setups?  Do we ask the community to bring equipment or do we buy our own setups?)
What is the best way to minimize theft?  Post-its don't work, but what works?
- Streaming: (Feel free to share ideas)
NorCal INSTALL!  Magz stream site
IPW
- Organizing Exhibition matches: (WHO?!, what, where, why, HOW?!  Do we have to charge people for a buy-in or give some sort of cookie to the winner?)
- Date: (Aginor suggested the 2nd week of August, is this legit to everyone?  Also that's the week of Aginor and I Bday.  :3)

That's all I can think out of the top of my head.  Feel free to add to the list.

Skill not being a factor sound like a good thing. I've never been particularly good at Street Fighter games.

Aw, come on, SoCal :< makes me sad when I think back to the dedicated community in the West Toast days. I am willing to try and help out anyone who wants to come for an AZ ranbat / house tourney on May 8th. Bring a sleeping bag or something and the hard tile floor is yours to sleep on. We have a couple of recliners, a loveseat, and a couch as well. If bell and Spidey are staying, that will probably leave the two recliners.

Also, AZ tournament coming up:

http://www.meltybread.com/forums/tournaments-and-events/mbaa-devastation-2010-june-18th-20th/ (http://www.meltybread.com/forums/tournaments-and-events/mbaa-devastation-2010-june-18th-20th/)

We had a decent turnout for this tournament last year when Melty was dying... come out and play Melty now that MBAA is out! It's time to get hype and practice for Evo!

The newbie trio can confirm for this weekend, presuming we get a start time. We're all ready to meet you guys and try out some competitive Actress Again action, although of course if SSF4 or, god forbid, drunken DDR come up, I doubt there will be complaints. XD

EDIT: Well, nevermind. Apparently dinner at Chili's got one of us violently ill, so we're going to hold off until the week after next. Some day we'll make it, but man, this has been delayed like a dozen times already on our end. Sorry!

Yeah, we had fun. Doug is already arranging his money to re-order a Slide Magic so he can start practicing with his copy of the game, and I've started learning C-Nero a bit more seriously than I was in the past. After playing with Spidey though, I decided not to give up on F-Seifuku Akiha quite yet. I've started changing the way I play her, but I don't think she's at enough of a disadvantage to make me want to switch my main to Nero entirely. I like her zoning moves too much, and besides, I'm more practiced with her moveset, in my opinion.

I'll let you know when we'll try making it up again. I doubt we'd do too well in a serious competion like this Arizona/SoCal even you have set up, but we'll try to drop by regardless in the next couple weeks.

Shoutouts to Bell and HF for driving me around the place, and Bell for hosting.

Thanks for hosting and driving bell. GGs to everyone. I'll be seeing you guys again next weekend.

Unfortunately I'm having some laptop issues right now and I'm unable to access Windows 7 due to some black screen bullshit. I'll hopefully get this issue resolved and everything backed up in the next couple days hopefully. But for now my internet access is limited to the shitty PS3 browser. :\

Next crack session: 6/5/10
Location: HF's in Tustin
Planned people: HF, ehrik, bell, lok, Spidey
Planned routing: bell+lok -> Spidey's, Spidey+bell+lok -> ehrik's, Spidey+bell+lok+ehrik -> HF's

Thanks again to bell for hosting, and for taking all that time to drive us back and forth.  I had a lot of fun, and my first Double Down was great.  Also ggs to everyone I played, that was probably the most Melty I've ever played in a two day period
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: Spidey June 01, 2010, 12:35:45 AM
I thought we were doing your place again? If I drive us 4 I can't fit tv/setups. Plus bells place is better for us drinkers/ people who can't play nonstop for an entire weekend  :psyduck:
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: f-wlen ice loop June 01, 2010, 04:37:10 AM
we discussed this in the car and i said it would be hf's, iirc. let me know now if this isn't workable so we have time to plan accordingly.
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: COD3player June 01, 2010, 01:39:13 PM
Wait, who said it was going to be at bell's again? No one even hinted at that afaik. ???

Still looking for a solution to my laptop problem. :'( The only reliable way I can be contacted as of this point is through phone, PM, or email.
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: Spidey June 01, 2010, 02:17:43 PM
We did talk about bells place again after discussing the issue of space/setups and for how long we would be there. If we do it at hfs I'm down to stay for the day and leave sat night sometime (maybe 10ish). Also I hang out with other friends Friday night so unsure as to how early I can make it back to my place but that shouldn't be a huge problem. Overall it's easier for me to pick ehrik up on my way home, get my things, and carpool whoever from my place to bells.
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: COD3player June 02, 2010, 11:45:46 PM
Alright guys, it's Thursday. The weekend is less than 2 days away. Let's try to get everything figured out. I'd hate if we had to flake on any kind of plans that we discussed last weekend. Flakes are only good on strudels and pastries, and I'm neither.

But here's what I think, if it's bell's again this weekend, it's going to be difficult because going there 3 weekends in a row is a lot. Remember, the weekend after next is AM6.5. I mean it is more convenient with the space and whatnot, but remember 3 consecutive weekends. <.<
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: Numakie June 03, 2010, 12:25:56 AM
I'll be down for HF's.
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: Spidey June 03, 2010, 02:01:00 AM
3 consecutive weeks at bells should only matter if it matters to bell. If we go to your place (hf) and I pool me bell lok ehrik there is no room for another setup, also we leave out emi. Personally I can't play non stop all day like you guys, with 1-2 at most setups half of us are going to be just sitting there bored. At bells I can go drink and have fun, we also watch anime/movies at night. Sorry I'm selfish here but being bored half of sat isn't a fun use of weekend for me :( but it's fine either way I personally will always choose bells place if he's willing to host. I understand you not wanting to drive but I drive a shit ton and still go to bells every week D: but its worth it!
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: COD3player June 03, 2010, 06:35:09 PM
If I drive to spidey's, this is more workable. Only issue is, I have a family dinner to attend on Sunday night which I committed to last week. So I'd need to be back at Spidey's roughly between 2-3 pm on Sunday so that I have enough time to get to where I need to go. But if possible, I'd like to be there early Saturday if all goes well.
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: ehrik June 03, 2010, 08:16:56 PM
As for me I'm good for either, so whatever is best for you guys, I'm down.
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: Spidey June 03, 2010, 10:28:44 PM
Tl;dr rant...  :-\
Well now I'm forced into a small time frame at either persons house. I will conform to what the majority wants but for this time only. In the future I'm really only going to carpool people who can be more flexible or who can come and leave at a time that's good for me (the driver). This shouldn't be to unreasonable, I always try to help and I never ask for money etc. But I'm going to try to still have a good weekend, if someone calls waking me up early in the morning (like last sat) because they want a super early start at playing I'm going to be very :( I know we all live far and no one wants to drive but gatherings shouldn't hinge on a carpool/middle man driver, you want to be there at a certain time and leave at a certain time then people need to drive themselves.

That being said y'all need to decide a place. And I can still pick up ehrik since he is socal guest. Sunday and late night sat seem to be shot either way, looks like a day event, but I'm not going to kill my Friday night to be awake super early on sat.

Would it fit all of us? D:
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: f-wlen ice loop June 04, 2010, 05:57:11 PM
Okay, logistics are as follows:

Lokanas and I will drive out from Temecula around 11 AM to Corona and pick up Spidey. The three of us then drive to Tustin to pick up ehrik at around 12:30 PM, and from there we arrive in Irvine at approximately 1-1:30 PM. We will play until night time and leave that night, dropping ehrik and Spidey back off on the way home. If Spidey wants to hang out Sunday he can come to Temecula first and leave his car here so we head out directly to ehrik's.

HF will drive directly from Carson to Xie's in Irvine, approximately 33 miles for him.

Anyone else interested (Numakie, Kryojenix, comedy MRHAN option) can head directly to Xie's. We should be there around 1-2 PM.

I have something going on till about 3pm next sat during AM so I will not be leaving to, or carpooling people until then. Ehrik could maybe get Xie to take him if he goes? Or I could pick both of them up and take them after 3. And I plan on leaving Bell's on sun late aftenoon sometime, since Monday is back to work.

Thanks for the weekend Bell.  It was a lot of fun and I think I picked up a lot more awareness of meter management now.  I'm really disappointed that my execution was THAT BAD though.

Anyway, I'm not really sure how to set up a working long-term reminder for myself about the sleeping bag, but hopefully I'll remember next time I'm heading down there that you have it.  Dunno how I forget the biggest, bluest thing in my inventory.

Edit: I'm planning on reserving a hotel across from the University.  People who are traveling from afar could come there to crash while I run the final logistics/management 101/setups situation.  As for 5v5, here are my propositions:
1) Take the top 5 seeds in NorCal/SoCal based on ranbats.
2) Do another tournament on Friday.  Seeding given out.
3) Do five separate brackets for each 5v5 slot.
4) Top two/three seeds get in the 5v5, while everybody else dukes it out.
5) Random select.

I'm going to make a brand new thread with Minor INSTALL~~~~~~~~~~~~! JJust fyi, the tournament in the works AND NOT FINALIZED. There is still loads of things to get done:

- Confirmation of classroom reservation
- Confirmation of the following sponsors: Madcatz, IPW, Brokentier.com, Aksys
- TVs & PS2s
- LCDs & PS3s
- Station management/setups
- etc.

Also, streaming will be provided by IPW. The only catch is that there is a small streaming fee of $2-$3, but he'll handle all streaming and advertisement for us. If you can't afford $2, then you need to rethink your life and live in a bucket.

ehrik, maybe you should reconsider going since Melty will more than likely be there with Dakanya and Abstract coming down from NorCal. But it seems your issue is still getting a ride. pulsr's place from where I live is over an hour away unfortunately. Ideally I'd like to carpool, but options are looking very limited right now.
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People

: Re: SoCal Non-AI People

The Plan:

HF goes to ehrik's and waits ~11 AM
TGS picks me up, drives to ehrik's which is on the way to pulsr's, picks up ehrik and HF and heads to BBQ

NOT GONNA WORK AT ALL cause tgs is taking backroads
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: COD3player June 18, 2010, 07:05:29 PM
ehrik, you can drive? Because I need someone I can carpool with. Don't worry about it being a gated community, I've been there before and space isn't really an issue.

Yeah I can drive as long as I have a licensed driver with me (which would be you). We'll head back in the evening/nighttime

edit: Ugh, well I thought it'd be pretty close by, but its like 30-40 min away and goes on the 241 south (which I'm sure both of us don't want to risk our lives for lolololol since I'm still learning how2drive)

: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: COD3player June 18, 2010, 08:15:56 PM
That's fine. I can tag my GPS along in case it finds a better alternate route that doesn't require toll roads. I believe there should be a way to get there via Alicia Parkway iirc.

Other than that, I just need an estimate of when I should be there.

ok cool I checked it out seems easy enough, we should be good for tomorrow.

BTW to get to my house past the gate, first the passcode will be #2196. After gate opens, make a left, then make the first right and go all the way down to the end, my house is right there. You can park on any of the driveways in front of my house. (except for the one on the far left).

I'll remind you tomm if you forget.

Try to come early, maybe by like 10-11 am?

edit: btw, TGS told me that if pulsr exceeds the amount of cars that he said could come, pulsr will get charged like 50 bux. So we need to find a place nearby we can park D:

edit2:

<TGS_> [21:43] <@TGS_> ehrik and HF drive to pulsr's, but if they can't get in the gate, they can park at the albertson's plaza or something
<TGS_> [21:43] <@TGS_> and we'll pick them up
<TGS_> [21:43] <@TGS_> from there
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: f-wlen ice loop June 18, 2010, 10:11:54 PM
Revised plan:

TGS picks up Bell (and maybe Lok) around 10 AM, drives to pulsr's via back mountain roads
HF drives to ehrik's, and then ehrik drives him and HF to pulsr's
Everyone piles in TGS' vehicle since he's a registered driver and goes to the BBQ

We usually meet here:

28922 Newport Rd
Temecula, CA 92591
(909) 539-7354

(Bellreisa's house, aka The Tsukihime Anime)

you should get on IRC, #MBAA on irc.mizuumi.net to chat with us and other mbaa players.

This is a common complaint.

Hi, i've been watching Melty (and used to play a bit of poverty netplay before MBAA was out) for a while and I'm super interested in actually getting into something, I didn't know you guys congregated so close by. I live in Tustin, so if you guys do some kind of meetup (and don't mind having a complete idiot hwo knows next to fuck all about the game along) in the future i'd be interested in going.

It's been a while since I dropped in here, so I thought I'd let you guys know I'm still alive. We didn't just get smacked around by you guys and give up on life, or anything. XD

We've had some techincal difficulties. One of us lost interest in Melty Blood after losing so much that night, and now starts using the excuse of "it's boring to use the same character all time" like he's got ADD and can't play a match twice with the same setup. It's. . . frustrating, but I guess he think frame counting is a moral crime or something. XD

The other one of us, the Ryougi player, no longer has a working PS2; he can't practice at all, and only ever really had one day to spend learning his character. He does really well, considering, but I don't think he can really improve and learn the better combos for his character of choice without having access to the game. I'm working on getting Melty set up on his laptop, but even then, with the slight lag, it wont be quite the same.

I remain the only one of us with the access and desire to really do anything. . . but with one of our number down and another out of practice, my efforts have slowed considerably. I can only spend so much time in training mode without ever getting to use what I'm practicing before I get bored, and the chances for me to get out and do anything with it down here are becoming fewer and further between.

On the bright side, we did hit up Anime Expo at the start of this month; we missed the Melty tourney they had out there, but the two of us that are still interested crowded around the arcade machine and the PS2 they had upstairs and basically owned our way through waves of noobs for several hours of uninterrupted play. Made me think it must've been what you guys felt like when we went up to play against you! XD

So, yeah. Once the two of us get back on track, you'll probably see us again, but we're still on hold until I get Melty up and running for him. Hope you guys had fun at Evo, and we'll see you when we see you!

30-40 minutes isn't a far drive really. i'm actually in riverside and i'd make more of an effort to play melty if my schedule wasn't so restricted. that and i haven't played since august or whatever. besides, if you're trying to learn anything technical about the game, bell would be the guy to talk to in this region anyway.

Fatacon and I will probably playing with some people today, but since there was almost no planning involved for a session I'm not sure how things will go down.  Also we're all down in Riverside so it's about a 40-50 min drive from Lake Forest I believe.

: Re: SoCal Non-AI People

I am located in Irvine which is pretty close to Lake Forest. I am able to host sessions since I have a full setup along with 2 extra CRT TVs. It's usually Devin, Alex and I playing at my place. I have a friend in Corona that comes occasionally.

Also that smash tournament is near my place since I was the one that opened the venue for one of my friends. Maybe we can use that to hold larger sessions.

Nice.  Keep us updated on those sessions.  That would be sick if we could get enough people at a session that would require a venue of that size xD.

sorry bell, was my idea at last minute. i brought up the idea since pyro wanted to try out the game because his import hadn't arrived yet. all in all, even just being the 3 of us, i think it turned out well. it seems like they both have a decent background with fighters so they caught on fairly quickly. i'm a really bad teacher, but i think they got the gist of it. like i told pyro though, i'm not available very often and wont be again until mid-december.

socal should have some kinda big session sometime. they seem pretty excited about learning, and it doesn't seem like melty guys get together all too often down here. honestly, it felt good to play the game again after a 3 month hiatus. it's pretty refreshing since my roommate only plays SSF4. wish i had a stick though. i should build a new one. 5 hours of play killed my left thumb. i don't know how YAT does it. GDLK thumbs yo.

I think I can get it, since it's just a lounge for residents being first come, first serve.

If we're asked to leave since if any resident wants to study, they get priority, we can just move to my apartment which is a building over.

Parking sucks here but there is an Albertson's parking lot a block away.

Cool, judging from the amount of people that want to come, that might be our best bet so far. I'm assuming the smash tourney went on without any problems so a session should be fine.

Same.  Did you get my text?

: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: Reyes Mahou November 18, 2010, 04:13:06 PM
Got it. I was making dinner so I didn't check my phone. lol

Yeah, game setups would be useful since I only have one. Same with smaller tv's since two of mine are really heavy CRT's and we're using the venue unless you guys don't mind being at my place.
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People
: PyroRyuken November 18, 2010, 04:22:11 PM
K I'll bring my stuff.  If Fatacon can make it we'll have another game setup.  No sticks though.  As for the location, whichever is more comfortable with the amount of people we have.

I'm willing to go as well and I would probably stay longer, just that being up for 28 hours and trying to play a game I'm bad at in the first place was kinda hard for me to do :psyduck:. Fuck yeah for my shitty sleeping patterns.

I have class on Wednesday until 3:30pm, but I can host from then until late night since my ride doesn't want to deal with Thanksgiving traffic.

I'm going to head back home Thursday morning and I'm not sure when I'll be back. Most likely Sunday afternoon.

If he's hosting until late Saturday/ early Sunday I can probably go and take you/other people.  jpAlex gets home around 2pm and I need to pick up someone from the airport around 2:15.  So we'd arrive at Bell's pretty late in the afternoon depending on how plans work out.  If you can finalize plans with people going, I'm willing to screw myself sleep-wise for my Sunday morning shift.

Some of you may remember me from the one time I showed up to get my ass handed to me; it's really just a blur of pain and bewilderment on my end, sans a set of good matches against Spidey, and I followed it with weeks of talking about returning without any action. Initially, I held back because I was trying to organize with my two wingmates, but now I've finally decided my friends suck. One wont fix his PS2 to get back to training with Ryougi, and the other bailed and started playing BlazBlue while whining about each and every online matchup he ran into. So, now that I've got a new job(money, yay!), if any more events pop up I'll just cruise down for them myself. Is this still going on regularly for me to tag along for?

i think, for the most part, socal melty has gone over to arcana. i'm pretty sure if there are sessions though, people will still be willing to play melty if there's a setup and someone who wants to play.

also, going to AI for MBAA isn't really worth it, IMO. it's not like the cab draws a lot of competition and it's pretty much inferior to the console version anyway. getting something going at a session would most likely be more worthwhile if you want to play melty.

Hmm. I never gave Arcana Heart much of a look, but I guess I'll have to check it out if it's drawing that much attention. Maybe it'll finally force me to buy a PS3 hori stick.
: Re: SoCal Non-AI People

If you have a PS2 stick, you just could buy a PS2 -> PS3 converter for like $25 + shipping on etokki.com shop.

You just missed the proverbial "gravy train". I was down in Riverside for the past year, and Pyroryuken asked me to teach him how to play MBAA. He has since then moved, and I moved back to NorCal about 2 weeks ago. I'm not sure if SoCal even plays the game anymore outside of Numakie and randoms. From what I've seen, Riverside is mostly the SF4/MvC crowd.

Norcal already has a scene, you need to wait until cc2 potentially gets a port before anyone is going to play melty again.

There's a group of AH players in Riverside. if you can get in contact with them, I'm sure a bunch of them play Melty Blood, too. You might want to check homingcancel.com

Riverside is about 2 hours away from where I live, and where my arcade is at.

NorCal does have a scene, but it'd be a 2 hour drive with me still not having a car. Might as well try to build my own in order to cut down on travel costs. Here's to hoping that the port lands for PS3/360 and we at least get netplay.

Besides, I'm impatient and want opponents now, damnit. I'll do my best to get at least 1-2 converts to MBAA.

You should get in touch with that Reiki Kito guy. He's trying to start up some scenes in SF and San Mateo. He's pushing for that CC cab at SouthTown.

Wow someone in Rside that wants to play Melty! lol.  I'm currently living right next to UCR.  I did move, but I ended up rooming with some friends here.  I pretty much gave up on fighters at this point after the small AH3 scene here died lol.  I got tired of playing the same Japanese players over and over again online and all of my friends pretty much dropped it and started playing marvel and SF4 again.  I'm willing to get into Melty again, but it's been a while since I played.  I also have no car anymore.  I pretty much have to rely on Fatacon for transportation now :x.

I have the Swap Magic disc and a copy of MBAA if those're what you're missing. Bringing the full PS2 would be a bit of a problem if I'm forced to go by bike/foot rather than getting a car.

Additional problem of me going back up to NorCal once the Summer ends, so getting that car could be difficult.  :emo:

I have one setup.  The problem is that I never got to gluing that one swap magic piece in that holds the brake back in the PS2.  My PS2 got shaken up and the piece went missing during my move a few weeks ago x(.  I wasn't thinking about it when I was moving it lol.  I can probably find something else to hold it down.

I've heard of people just using something as simple as a shaved down toothpick for that. No need to get anything expensive, it's not like the parts inside are so fragile that they'll break from something touching it.
