Hey, haven't been around the community in a while, but there's been talk about getting AA into the lineup for Denjin Arcade's 2nd Ranking Battle Season and I'd like to get an idea of who would be interested. The tournaments would be held on PS2 at five bucks a head, plus two more for the console cover charge, and all tournament gameplay would be recorded and probably go up on the Denjin Arcade website. I know Simi Valley is way out of the way for a lot of people (especially guys like bell), but at Interface/FFA we were getting turnouts of 35-40+ people every month and it would be great to just get even 12-16 people to come down a bit more regularly than that.

30-40 minutes isn't a far drive really. i'm actually in riverside and i'd make more of an effort to play melty if my schedule wasn't so restricted. that and i haven't played since august or whatever. besides, if you're trying to learn anything technical about the game, bell would be the guy to talk to in this region anyway.

I am located in Irvine which is pretty close to Lake Forest. I am able to host sessions since I have a full setup along with 2 extra CRT TVs. It's usually Devin, Alex and I playing at my place. I have a friend in Corona that comes occasionally.
Also that smash tournament is near my place since I was the one that opened the venue for one of my friends. Maybe we can use that to hold larger sessions.

sorry bell, was my idea at last minute. i brought up the idea since pyro wanted to try out the game because his import hadn't arrived yet. all in all, even just being the 3 of us, i think it turned out well. it seems like they both have a decent background with fighters so they caught on fairly quickly. i'm a really bad teacher, but i think they got the gist of it. like i told pyro though, i'm not available very often and wont be again until mid-december.
socal should have some kinda big session sometime. they seem pretty excited about learning, and it doesn't seem like melty guys get together all too often down here. honestly, it felt good to play the game again after a 3 month hiatus. it's pretty refreshing since my roommate only plays SSF4. wish i had a stick though. i should build a new one. 5 hours of play killed my left thumb. i don't know how YAT does it. there's no large, location-neutral venue for us, which has always been the problem for melty in socal. I don't like playing at AI.
I think I can get it, since it's just a lounge for residents being first come, first serve.
If we're asked to leave since if any resident wants to study, they get priority, we can just move to my apartment which is a building over.
Parking sucks here but there is an Albertson's parking lot a block away.

i think, for the most part, socal melty has gone over to arcana. i'm pretty sure if there are sessions though, people will still be willing to play melty if there's a setup and someone who wants to play.
also, going to AI for MBAA isn't really worth it, IMO. it's not like the cab draws a lot of competition and it's pretty much inferior to the console version anyway. getting something going at a session would most likely be more worthwhile if you want to play melty.
Hopefully that MBAACC board was sold to AI.
i'll still play melty casually but it's pretty hard to justify it when there's 100x as many people playing ah3 and everyone is learning

NorCal does have a scene, but it'd be a 2 hour drive with me still not having a car. Might as well try to build my own in order to cut down on travel costs. Here's to hoping that the port lands for PS3/360 and we at least get netplay.

I'm willing to get into Melty again, but it's been a while since I played. I also have no car anymore. I pretty much have to rely on Fatacon for transportation now :x.

I have one setup. The problem is that I never got to gluing that one swap magic piece in that holds the brake back in the PS2. My PS2 got shaken up and the piece went missing during my move a few weeks ago x(. I wasn't thinking about it when I was moving it lol. I can probably find something else to hold it down.
