C-Nanaya Combo Thread
« on: March 21, 2013, 01:09:40 PM »
I hope I'm not spamming the boards, but the I'm really used to seeing these threads categorized back in Dustloop. The mod here can remove this thread if it proves to be a nuisance, or offer me a template if this looks too sloppy. Feel free to add/correct/optimize combos:
(All combos may begin off of any A or j.C starter)
(Any 2C>214A combo enders can be replaced with 2C>5BB>22C>Air Ender)
(CH = Counter Hit, AT = Air Throw, AD = Arc Drive, AAD = Another Arc Drive)
Requires 100 Meter
Requires MAX mode
Requires HEAT mode
Requires BLOOD HEAT mode

Midscreen:
2B Starter:
  • (Max Range Confirm) 2B>5C>214B

I think it'd be more clear if you separate j.X and dj.X and label airdashes with just j.66 instead of AD to avoid ambiguity with Arc Drive.

Quote
(Any 2C>214A combo enders can be replaced with 2C>5C>j.BC>j.BC>AT)
This should be 2C 5C 22C, 'cause you can't jump cancel 5C if you've already jump canceled a ground move.

Aerial combos vary depending on conditions.

j.BC sdj.BC Airthrow is the generic one.
j.BCA sdj.BC Airthrow is the stable one. (This one is important.)
j.BC j.66B dj.BC Airthrow is a damage variant off when the opponent is lower.
j.ABC sdj.BC Airthrow is if you're not sure you'll make it in time with the jump or they're high.

Should also check this out.

ダッシュ is dash.
投げ is throw.
エリアル is aerial.
ディレイ is delay.
派生 is the optional component.
七夜(縦) is the close version (sideswitch launcher) of Nanaya's 214B.
七夜(横) is the far version (wallslam) of Nanaya's 214B.
水月 is Nanaya's 22.
画面端 is corner.
画面中央 is midscreen.
各種 is whatever.
拾い is pick up.
急降下 is fastfall.
八点 is his 236.
六兎 is his 623.
八穿 is his 214A.
BE is Blowback Edge (?), which is the charged version.

EDIT: And here is a dictionary of Melty terms.

This is really helpful. I've been thinking of picking up Crecent and FullMoon Nanaya since I already play Halfmoon. You should refrain from using coloured text since it makes it hard to read. Atleast it does for me. It'd be great to get Video of these combos too. :D  :blah:

...stuff

Oh, don't worry, I can live with Kanji, it's just the Hiragna and Katakana that end up killing me. The only reason I haven't applied the updates is because this computer I'm using doesn't support Asian characters, I'll have to go home to update the thread. Thanks for the dictionary though, I knew most of the terms already, but there are still a couple things here and there I need to familiarize myself with.

Yay, a semi-newcomer! I didn't expect this thread to be seen by anyone who would find it useful until a couple months from now... And about the color coding, sorry about that. I'm used to seeing this format back at Dustloop. I'll get to videos once my execution improves. This pad I'm using hates DP motions.

You'd be surprised! We check the forum nearly everyday! Atleast I do! lol Honestly, I'd like more information on my Mains! F-Seifuku and C-Ciel. But, I'm trying to get to the point where I can get decent with every character. Atleast get good at Everymoon-Nanaya/Everymoon-Sion/Everymoon-Arcueid. lol

I've noticed that apart from certain strings that absolutely need it, the 5B starters are nearly identical to the 2B starters. Any suggestions on reformatting?

EDIT: BTW, the wiki listed 2B>5C>214B>j.22>[2C>214B>2C]>ender as a corner combo. Has anyone gotten this to work? I don't see how you can do the part in parentheses. The second 214B clearly wallbounds, and does not allow enough time for a 2C followup.

2B is a better poking tool. In general, though, combos in Melty are so freeform that it doesn't matter what you start from.

The 2C 214B 2C thing is the side switch combo, I believe. I do 2B 5C 214B tk9.22 2C 236B 2C etc. You're so close after tk9.22 that you're technically on the other side (in the corner), so you reverse inputs even though it looks like you're on the same side (out of the corner).

Thanks once again Sacchin for your helpful explanation. :teach:

And thanks to the developers for making sprites that have stupidly deceptive animations :slowpoke:

Does anyone know how to make the airdash into grab combo ender work consistenly off of 5BB starters? I seem to have absolutely no issue off of 2C starters, but the 5BB starter combos occasionally pop the opponent too high for an air grab off an airdash. It works just fine without the dash, but I'd like the squeeze out as much corner carry from a completely vertical launcher as possible.

Thanks, both of your advice helped me get it down more consistently. Even so, I'd like to post an example comparing my (deliberate) failed attempts with successful ones for lab analysis. Have fun:

Either do csj8.BC sdj.delay BC 66 Airthrow or 22C after 5BB. Or both. That said, you don't get raw 5BB very often. Gravity is dependent on the number of hits, so you'll probably have better luck off of a more reasonable confirm.

Actually, that does have some truth to it. The reason I only recorded this in the corner is because that's the only time I can deliberately replicate the issue. Not saying it doesn't happen midscreen, but it happens at least a third as much.
