: Tutorial on how to make your own webshow/stream and optimizing it!
: mizuki September 30, 2011, 07:49:19 PM
Hi guys, you all might know me as the person that records, compiles, and occasionally live stream the show. I will be doing a tutorial on how to make your own live show or gamestream and how to optimize it on my personal channel on October 4th, 2011 at 5pm PST. I will answer questions anyone has. So if you know someone who wants to pick up streaming, or has problems with their own streams, I will be happy to answer them!

stream site: www.twitch.tv/thenipahhut

also if you guys miss the show, I will upload it to my youtube channel and link it here!

If you could recommend software that adds graphics to the stream (say from recording a match vid), that'd be cool too.

Still waiting for it.

I want to stream at 60 fps with 2mb upload. Average computer specs (corequad, 4 ram, 512 video). Xsplit paid version can do that, but if I were to give money I'd give to French Bread, so I'm looking for a free program.

If Rokunaya could explain his setup would be awesome too, his last streams are really good.

I coulda sworn I posted a link to it. But don't worry about it, the old version of it was crappy and didn't work properly because Xsplit was in Beta. I can make a proper tutorial once I get back from MLG

Hey, Mizuki thanks for putting up this thread. I'd like to stream either youtube vids or CC netplay matches in the future but my laptop is rather "meh". Was wondering if you could provide me with information on the best settings I can use for optimal streaming quality with the equipment I'm currently using. Also, the software I'm using is the default that twitch provides which is xsplit. Below are specs. Hope this helps.

Laptop
Windows 7 Home Premium/Service Pack 1
Processor: AMD-E450 APU w/ Radeon HD Graphics 1.65 GHz
RAM: 4.00 GB (3.60 usable)
64-bit OS

Internet
According to Speedtest.net
(Ran three separate tests)

down
19.21, 19.94, 20.37 mbps

up
2.04, 2.0, 1.99 mbps

Adapter Info
Type: AMD Radeon HD 6320
Total Graphics Memory: 1973 MB
Dedicated Vid Memory: 384 MB
System Vid Memory: 0 MB
Shared Memory: 1589 MB
Chip: ATI disp. adapter (0x9806)
DAC type: Internal DAC (400 MHz)

If you need more info than this, please let me know and I'll post up ASAP!

Is this a netbook?

Anyways, put MBAACC as lowest settings, run it at 640x480 settings.

For your stream, use Open Broadcaster Software, and try natively streaming at 640x480 at 30 fps. For your upload try running at 500kbps and audio at like the mid range. If you have any problems let me know I can tweak more settings for you, but this should be fine. If it doesn't work with 480p try 480x360.

I managed to overcome my crappy notebook's streaming capacity with the Game Capture card of mine. I just plug the card from my notebook into my notebook and have OBS capture the Elgato output. It's godlike, allows me to record 1080p and stream ~480p although my notebook is not even close to being able to do that. Hax x)
