Display lag causes an effective lag of inputs. Doesn't matter when the machine reads it because, guess what, you play by visual confirmation (or at least I hope you do). That extra "second" that it takes to see the results (hopefully it's not actually 1 second otherwise you're in for quite a trip) will already have an effect on your game whether or not you realize it regardless of how much you attest to it having "no effect" or you "having gotten used to it". Yes, it IS possible to overcome this obstacle by playing on that particular display setup whenever you play that particular game, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that is not going to be the case.
