Earlier written on the trip back...
It's about 11am and I haven't been able to get much actual sleep on the Megabus but I've got some physical rest I suppose. I spent something around 30 minutes reflecting on how memorable this West Toast was for me, even if I didn't play much. I was gonna hold it all in my head and write it when I get home and then I realized I had a laptop in my backpack.
Arlieth: Thanks for driving us around, that curry tonkatsu ramen was some of the best I've ever had and the tonkatsu was top notch. Man, I don't think you let your guard down at all in the tournament, I was predicting that H-FBlade and Magz were gonna do better but you were always conscious of their options and always made the right decisions, and you were an extremely entertaining player to watch. I never saw you give H-FBlade a single chance to bust out EX Hiero.
Psylocke and Leo: Where were you guys?!
Numakie: Your Hisui has incredibly levelled up from what I can tell since the last time I saw you at EVO. I underestimated you in my predictions.
H-FBlade: Man I thought your Ciel was hot stuff at EVO but you weren't lying when you said you weren't in shape then. It looks like you've levelled up (or at least performed much better) and become even more solid. From what I could tell, the most significant difference was that you made much better decisions. Those combos are beautiful but those wakeup reversal supers man...
Desert Coast + Lokanas: WHERE WERE YOU GUYS?!
Kryojenix: Mech-Hisui is pretty interesting! I think you should've performed better though or maybe I should've done some awesome praying again.
Tsubasa, Sataya, Buzzsaw, LastElixir: You should've just eaten with us at Denny's.
Tsubasa: BAD HEATS. You need safe heat setups!
Buzzsaw: YOUR COMBOS ARE UGLY, GO TO PRACTICE MODE. You'd probably be actually able to beat Magz (and not to mention give us all that much more of a challenge) at SJSU if you had those down, I hope you took some notes watching Scott and H-FBlade. Good job on getting as far as you did.
Okay man I swear I had more to write and more people to write about... yeah okay keeping things in your head is a bad idea. Thanks to everyone for coming out and making this a memorable experience for Norcal. Until next time, 'cause I'll be learning that stick yo.

This was the most fun West Toast for me thus far. I surprised myself with my results, as the last two Toasts I went two were 2 and out for me. GG's to all I played against!

I still feel bad for your attempted blood heat when you were nowhere near me causing a circuit spark instead. I think it happened because they need that code in the game to allow baiting, but that wasn't the circumstance =/. Good job putting me in my place in casuals afterward - I'll look forward to some rematches at the next Toast.
Jux
Ouch. I really need to learn how to deal with HisuKoha better - I was utterly owned. GG's anyway :)
Mizuki
Fun matches. You really should work on shielding those ex-pilers though - they just aren't good for your health, if you know what I mean ;) Also, thanks for running the brackets.

Your Hisui is solid, keep up the good work. I look forward to a rematch at the next West Toast if you are coming.

lol i got 9th when I got my ass whooped. I played like crap, and nothing came out the way I wanted to.
It was nice meeting a lot of you guys, the trip was well worth it. I got a shit-ton of practice to do, I felt pretty intimidated by you leet socal people.
I was pretty much dead by the time we got the denny's though, couldn't even keep my eyes open. I give props to Tsubasa for dealing with me while driving back half dead. I gotta remember to get more sleep ahead of time the next time we go down there.

Magz
Those were great matches. At the very start, you made me look like a day 1 player. x_X I felt pretty demoralized after you took me out so quickly and I was afraid that you had me all figured out after our casuals. I remember the last thing you said to me after the match was "I'll see you in the finals hopefully." Perhaps you saw it coming? :mystery:
Wicked Element
Miyako's hitbox was a bit funky for my combos. Tech punishes hurt and I re-learn not to be so tech-happy. You almost took me 2nd match and I was really getting nervous near the end. Well-played.
buzz
Norcal's only Ciel. You're not bad at all. You're tick throw attempts were really getting me but lucky for me I managed to catch on and make the necessary adjustments. You almost had a 2C mixup against me and I panicked for a second but you input the wrong air attack. Use j.C if you're trying to go for the overhead. Magz says you should watch my matches if you want to play Ciel effectively. Not trying to toot my own horn, but, maybe that's good advice if you're looking for ideas. :-X
Sataya
Like Magz, you also made me look like a day 1 player in our first match. X_x Very discouraging since you almost double perfected me. Kouma is a very funky opponent to fight against and you were just killing me on the wakeup end of the match. I couldn't counter-poke nor could I backdash to safety without finding myself in the same position over and over again. You were very patient on the defense and I was trying my hardest just to land a hit. You're a solid player so keep it up.
Jux
Our matches were more or less the same as the matches we play outside tourneys. Thankfully we didn't fight each other until later in the tourney. Great performance all-around. Though it seems that you were burning out as time dragged on. We will continue to improve our characters and hopefully Rayzr will be able to join us next time.
Mason
I owed you one back from WT6. >:D It was a great fight all-around. I learned a thing or two since the last time we played at a WT and it looks like it all paid off. ;) Your reaction to my psychic EX Halo was classic along with the crowd's. Don't worry, I would have felt the same way. Since I got a blue stage, I was puzzled as to why you went to "once again" instead of the select screen. Some would probably say that it wouldn't have mattered because we might have gotten it again or rather another "favorable" stage for me. lol Good commentary as usual.
Numakie
The tie breaker. It was an impressive battle and fighting your Hisui is always a lot of fun. Remember what I said about "not playing by the book." lol Your style is unique so keep playing the way you do now and continue to level up. ;)
Arly
Arrrrrrrg! Camoflauge does not affect you. :'( You are the beast of the Socal scene. Nero might be the biggest character in the game but I had one hell of a time just trying to land a hit. Your shielding and dodging was my demise. Congrats on taking 1st (again). ;D

Memorable Moments:
- Landing the 51 hit otg loop against buzz. lol Sorry even I'm surprised that I managed to land something like that in the heat of a match. I rarely every see anyone attempt it let alone be able to keep it up for that long.
- Connecting a psychic EX Halo against Mason. The crowd's reaction was classic. :D
- "If it's a blue stage, H-F automatically wins."
- "Leo came out of nowhere and hit H-F Blade in the face with a chair."

Okay, now time for me to post some actual meaningful stuff about the tourney instead of just :blah:
First off I'd like to thank any and every body that was there for making it such an enjoyable time. This was my first Toast and I'd only been playing for about two or three weeks, so I didn't come in expecting to even win a round (though I managed a little more than that, ggs Mizuki). You guys are all awesome and made the trip to Simi more than worth it.
Second, thanks to Arly (and Mizuki) for running the tournament. It's nice to have some actual competition for this game so close to home, otherwise I'd just be Akiha mirror matching Soniti all day for no reason at all.
Third, Thanks to Soniti for getting me into this game, the multiple rides to Simi, the tips, coaching, training, and just about anything Melty related for the past 2-3 weeks.
And to wrap it up, the tourney was amazing and expect me to be back for more Toast in the future.

We found out the hard drive I was recording to had a lot of bad sectors and stuff. However, all the data was recovered. That's why it took so long.

I'm 100% sure that my laptop was switched over to one of the two desktops before the tourney started. There were NO laptops used during the tourney. Why do you think there was one? Arly should know which two desktops they were, or I'd be able to identify them but I'm not driving down to Semi Valley just for that :<
