tldr version: Everyone starts with 1000 points and antes part of it for every tournament.
For those that care, the ranbat system details, summed up into a hopefully easy to read list.
Minimum 8 people to enter for it to count as a ranbat.
Seeding will be by ranbat points, with ties broken randomly.
In the case of foreigners coming(anyone outside NY/NJ/PA/CT/MA/DE), people who came together may be separated if it is their first tournament.
Everyone starts with 1000 points.
Everyone in a tournament ante's up 10% of their current amount of points to form a pot.
Last place gets 0/x of the pot, second to last place gets 1/x, third to last gets 2/x, etc..
X is determined by the number of different places. In a 16-bracket there are 8(1,2,3,4,5t,7t,9t,13t), which leads to x being 28.
The points awarded to a place are split among the players who tied for places past fourth.
Ante is rounded up for players above 1000, down for those below.
For points awarded to each place, it is rounded up for top places and down for lower places. Number of places rounded up/down is determined by how many points(if first is .7, second .6, and third .7, first and second get rounded up, third gets rounded down).
If points don't split evenly among people who tie for a place, those with a lower rank get rounded up first. Ties broken randomly.
Notes:
The first tournament is going to be bonkers for statistical purposes since good people will be ranked low and bad people ranked high. However, this is true for any system.
Due to how ties get split, the reward between fourth and fifth place is substantial.
This system rewards doing well in tournaments with more/better players over ones with less/worse players.
The average of everyone's points is always going to be 1000.
Dippy and Chibi are going to complain no matter what.
