know what? until i see the "no same character" rule officially posted, i'm gunna say it's not in effect.
tom, i know you're insanely busy with school, a shitty job, and a futa girlfriend but it's really not cool leaving us in the dark. it'd be really awesome if you could take a few seconds to confirm or deny the implementation of this rule. 'til then, mech/mech/warc still stands
Why wouldn't this rule be implied? IIRC unless its stated that having two of the same character on one team, its usually not allowed. I really don't see why this tournament would be any different than most team tournaments that don't this rule.
Now not that I care or anything (I can't even go to this anymore), but hasn't all WT and other team tournaments have had this rule? So why would this tournament be any different especially if its the same format as past team WT events...3v3.
In the other West Toasts that had teams, it "specifically" stated that there is a no same character rule in teams. However, in this case, there is nothing in the rules that states "No more than one character of each kind on a team". Instead, it states "Locked characters" which
Implies that same character teams are allowed.
To show you that I speak more than
, here is what is stated in the rules in previous WT's-Teams with regards to the "same characters" rule.
WT9: No more than one character of each kind on a team. (i.e.: no Baiken/Baiken/Faust)
WT10: No more than one character of each kind on a team. (i.e.: no Baiken/Baiken/Faust)
WT11: No more than one character of each kind on a team. (i.e.: no Baiken/Baiken/Faust)
WT12: No more than one character of each kind on a team. (i.e.: no Baiken/Baiken/Faust)
Now lets restate the rules for the Melty Cup 2008 in the front page as of May 25, 2008.
- Three-Man Teams
- Locked Characters
- 2/3 Games, Double-Elimination
- $50 Entry Fee per player
- 1st Place takes Pot, other prizes for top three to be decided (including Shirts, Custom Cases, etc). I'll be contributing $300 towards this. Winning Team also gets to hold the Melty Cup for one year, to be brought back the following year.
- Teams must be decided one month prior to Evolution World 2008.
That isn't to say that it can be changed. Then again, it is a little over a month till Evo will start, and, from what i see, this thread started ever since August 29, 2007, 9 months ago, and was edited last since March 17, 2008, 2 months ago, with these rules stated. A change 1 month before the event when it's been posted 9 months before hand may be a tad bit incontinent to some ppl.
Edit: It is especially inconvinent with the "Teams must be decided one month prior to Evolution World 2008." Rule.
