Also I say if we have time a team tourney sounds good. I call AJ to be on my team!

Yea, I was going to say winner takes all but I figured if I couldn't get AJ on my team I would be screwed out of at least a portion of that pot like that. Anyways, there are going to be some upsets at this tourney, guaranteed.

I recommend contacting ChocolateThunder (sorry if I forgot the name) and see if we can get that room in the dorms again. It would be the perfect place to hold the tournament IMO.

I think starting the singles at 2:30 would give us enough time to do the teams event as well... yeah we'd have to do teams in that room magz mentioned... and I guess we'll go off-campus in between the tournaments for food. There are some places around... it's a bit of walk but food is food...

I assume that there will be more than one setup for tourney play (save top 4 or top 8 ) if that's the case I can see it finishing by 6:00pm at the latest. I would consider closing the time slot about 30min for sign ups as it will give you more time to set up the brackets without having to deal with stragglers. Food as a group would probably be best after both tourneys are over as, from experience, when you feed the beast that is NorCal, they no longer want to play.
So, If someone sets it up, can I do commentary?

Very few people, but these weekends will be consisted of hunting them down, and then trying to gather them and create our mini community and start from there.

We will have many laptops, so getting through the tournament will be very easy.

If you don't want to start insanely late, tell people that the tournament will start at 1 so you can actually start it at 2. (I learned my lesson from WT's and CvS2 tournaments.) Think of it as a Filipino party.

This may or may not have been brought up already, but teams should be 2v2 single elim. Double elim takes a really long time and we're already doing double elim for the singles anyways. Plus we'll have guilty gear.

Since the SU will be closed on the 22nd, we will probably be using one of the rooms at the dorms. Check this thread for updates this week.
As for the team tournament, how much should the entry fee be? I'm thinking somewhere between $3-$5 per person is good along with a pot distribution of 80/20.
Sims should post up some details about how the GG tournament is going to be run if it is even going to be run.

It's a pretty long walk and there are a few buses that can take you from the Diridon to SJSU such as the 22 and the 522. I think there's a light rail station nearby as well that could take you to Santa Clara and First or Paso de San Antonio...

Since no one has stepped forward to be my partner for the team tourney, my partner automatically defaults to AJ in accordance to "Dev's Law".
Because my partner is AJ, I will probably only stay long enough to win the singles tourney and I will just have AJ mail me my portion of the winnings from the team tourney after he cleans up.
