: Battle by the Gazebo 6: Path to the Pavilion -- Chinatown, NYC - 8/2
: AARP|ZTB April 24, 2008, 10:34:09 AM

Date & Time
Saturday, August 2nd (8/2) @ 1pm *Tournament portion will be held at Columbus Park @ approx. 5pm*

Meet Up Spot #1: Chinatown Fair (CF) & Columbus Park
8 Mott Street
(between Chatham Sq & Mosco St)
New York, NY 10013

Meet Up Spot #2 *[added 6/12]*
Tournament & Post-Tourney Casuals will be held at ->
Columbus Park
67 Mulberry St (Mulberry & Mosco), New York, NY

Transportation
NYC MTA Options:
J, M, Z, N, Q, R, W, 6 --> Canal St.
Puts you off at rock-throwing distance from CF. Mott St. is about 4-5 blocks distance if you choose to exit from the Centre St. exit. Once you find Mott St. the rest is cake. Plenty of police officers on Canal St. so you may want to ask them for directions (DON'T ASK RANDOM PEOPLE ON THE STREET). If don't see any pigs around to ask, talk to a random street vendor. Police>Street Vendor>Spin around and choose a direction>Ask random NY'er.

B, D --> Grand St.
Puts you about 2 blocks away from Canal St. Train Station. Still pretty easy to not get lost. Grand St. and Canal St. are parallel to each other. Not many officers on this particular area so you may have to resort to asking for help  ::).

Less viable MTA options
A, C, E (Canal St.) & F (East Broadway)
Well, if you choose these last two options, I can't really help you there. I just know that both stops will leave you with a 10-15 min walk in order to get to Chinatown Fair. Good luck and take notes.

Travel tips by Jiyuna (Philadelphia>NYC) *added 7/18
I'm writing this shit from the BOLT BUS!!

Forget that shady chinatown bus business, BOLT BUS!! is the truth ->

Roundtrip ticket prices between Philly & NYC vary from 2$-25$ depending on how early you book (I paid 18$). Seats are mad comfortable, tons of leg room, clean bathroom, TVs, power outlets, and DAT WI-FI :prinny: Only downside is it looks like imma have a 15 min walk when I get there, but small price to pay for this shit. Now you philly people can get out to those BBG's without fear of getting shanked by a chinaman.

Travel tips by HyperHal (Philadelphia) *added 5/7
I know that if you're coming from philly, you'll want to take the chinatown bus located around 11th and market. Just walk down towards the gallery until you get to a small store called "Cherry bus inc." $10 one way/$20 round trip to NYC, drops you off in chinatown roughly 4 blocks from CF(it actually drives past the park/CF).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Casuals and Tournament

Casuals @ CF:
Venue fee: FREEEEE, $0
Player fee: Also FREEEEE

Pre-tourney gathering will be held at the back of CF by the Capcom Vs. SNK 2 machine. Once inside CF just hit the corner, make a left and walk to the wall in back. Casuals will run from about 1pm to 5pm. At about 5pm the mods (Zaelar, Chibi, Zar) will break for about 30mins then return to the front of CF (at a specified time) in order to round up the players that are interested in attending the BBG tournament. From there we head out to....THE GAZEBO.

Casual Pay Rules:
Stick only with standard arcade config & macros disabled.

(http://ikusat.mac.org/mbac/images/4/42/Mbac_controls.jpg)

Sticks will be provided by Zaelar and Chibi so do not abuse/misuse them. Should you be caught mistreating any equipment that belongs to them or myself, you will be excluded from participating in casuals and possibly the tournament event.

One game, gtf off & the Stop Beasting Rule
Just like an 'authentic' arcade environment, when you get beat up you get off. You win - keep playing. The one exception to this is when the winner accumulates 10 consecutive wins. After a 10streak, the rapist is asked to step down and head to the back of the line. This gives other players a chance to shine and you some time to Stop Beasting  :o.

Tournament Format and Rules:
One dollar...
One game...
One elimination...
GTFO

The tournament portion of the gathering will be held at or by THE GAZEBO. After the break from CF casuals, players will be escorted to a city public park one block from CF were the mods will be leeching the city's energy supply from available outlets. Now, at the last event I got dissed at THE GAZEBO and power supplies were null. This time around I will be better prepared and check the power status of THE GAZEBO a few days before the event date then give a report in this thread. Should we be denied power again, we can always run it back by the Snapple Vendors. For extra precaution I will also be checking power status for vending spot as well.

Venue: ...What venue? It's a park! lolololololol

Entry Fee: $1. Come on, its ONE DOLLAR. You have no excuse to not have this.

Format:
One game: A Match consists of 2 points i.e. two-out-of-three rounds.
Single Elimination: Should you lose a match (2/3 rds) you are eliminated from the tournament and will not be placed in a losers bracket. Yeah...mad grimey.

Pot/Prize: Its winner-take-all, baby. First place will be awarded all of that cold casssshhhh.
***I was thinking of starting a trend where the winner of the GF's buys the runner-up the Snapple beverage of their choice. Let me know what you guys think.*** <-- According to park employees, the vending machines are inoperable. If anyone says otherwise please notify me because I would really like to implement this idea. A Snapple for second would be a good way to promote and exercise good sportsmanship  :blah: .

P2 side and the mystic coin-flip: [*added 6/4]
Players seeking advantage in a match (or scheming to take that from their opponent) may request a coin-flip for player side before the start of a match. More than likely the winner of the coin toss will choose p2 but is also free to choose p1 if they desire. Loser of the coin toss get the choice of stage selection.

MBCaster auto-recording feature and the not-so-random random stage selection [*added 6/4]
To insure that we catch all replays w/o any "accidents" happening the mods will be running MB through MBCaster's Broadcast (option 4) feature. Broadcast mode has been personally tested (for 4+ hrs at several occasions) by Zaelar and myself. There was absolutely no lag or dropped input issues to be noted and it works 100% fine as if MBCaster weren't even being use (0 input lag setting). The only nuisance with caster is that it fails terribly at randomizing stages - in fact the first 3 stages are always the same by "random" selection (warc, len, kohaku). So with that being said, if a coin-flip for side was not requested, p1 is free to select the stage of their liking.

Peripherals & Config: Controller/Pad/Keyboard/Your Mom is allowed
-For the tournament portion, participants are allowed to use whatever piece of non-stick crap device they want to use (e.g. pad/keyboard). Be sure that your peripheral is fully operational and compatible. Bring whatever drivers necessary to install so you won't be assed out when your time to play is up. As for Keyboard, you're not using the laptop kb so bring your own shit please. Be sure that your kb/pad/stick does not cause interference (i.e. controlling opposing player), otherwise you wont be able to participate for obvious reasons [*5/8].

-Both players configure their button settings prior to starting their match. Please, for the love of God, take the time to triple check your settings and be sure that your buttons and (cheating ass) marcos/shortcuts are on/off and in the right spot.

-Should you experience mechanical difficulties in the opening of a match, please inform the mods ASAP (not in rd2 or something stupid). The 3 of us will re-test the equipment in question and try to devise a "fair" ruling for the current situation.

Ediquite:
-Shake after pwning or getting pwned. Just cus we hype don't mean we have to be douches.

-We must remember that we are in a public area so PLEASE keep the swearing and profanities to yourself. Children and parents will be in the vicinity of where we will be set up and we need not to draw more attention (esp. to police officers responding to complaints about "a group of loud black people cursing at the top of their lungs. Cus you know we will all catch a club to the dome after that). If you feel the need to cuss, use euphemisms instead such as: "Man, that Akiha AD is such [a beautiful sunset]!"

-Again, don't fucks with the equipment.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
***The tournament portion of the event will be held outdoors so in the instance where "undesirable" weather conditions may occur, the casuals will either be cut down so that we have time to run the tournament inside CF OR I will have to postpone the date to the following week. I will be checking broadcasts about 4-7 days in advance to give you all the heads up on whether or not the gathering will take place. If anyone would like to run a ballot for holding the tourney at CF or postponing for another date let me know.***

*Note*
Now because BBG (event after casuals at CF) is being setup pretty much out in the open, the mb station will possibly draw unwanted attention i.e. random kids, parents, bums. This could lead to the more serious unwanted attention (i.e. the po-po) should enough ppl start to take notice. They could also randomly pass by and start to ask questions too. My point is: we got hella lucky last time and didn't get our melty shop closed down and nothing is guaranteed for the tournament portion of this event. Be prepared for disappointment is all im trying to say.

YES! Get hype!  :toot:

Also, the great thing about this is that I don't have to lug my stick there.  :V
But even if sticks weren't provided, I'd still bring my own.
Also, good idea on the 2nd place Snapple. I'm thirsty.

The only way you are using a keyboard in tournament is if you can show that you can't control the opponent's character with it.  Don't even ask about using my fragile laptop keyboard either.  And you aren't putting any programs on my laptop or going into my config files.

This applies to any controller, but keyboards are the only one that I could see having a problem with it.

LOL Whelp, you heard the man! No installing drivers = "Oop Aww" for you....Yet another reason why pad/keyboard = fail.

EC STAND UP!!

(then get ready to sit on a tile/concrete floor lol)

So I decided to stick w/ recycling this thread to announce all BBG events in the future. Made some minor updates to the first post along w/ the next tournament date. The first post entry (5/13) is lacking hype at the moment due to my current lethargy (zar needs a refill on his aaaghh-get-hype meds). Once I manage to gather my thoughts I'll be able to spice things up a bit.

Until then, think melty thoughts.  :fap:

Yooooo, It's just about that time, folks. Time for another bum-fest on the streets of Chinatown NYC so get your empty coffee cups and recycled newspaper blankets ready for dat Columbus Park camp-out.

Over the last couple of weeks there have been TWO ECMB events (East Toast 1 & C3) and if you attended at least one of them, there's no excuse for not having your A-game present at BBG III. Now if you didn't attend at least one of the afforementioned  events you need to go on a fast cus you're obviously not hungry enough for dat melty hype :blah: . (Don't be surprised if you get your shit bodied for slacking too :moar :blah::  ).

Assuming Mr. Weather cooperates with us for the weekend (I'll go more into detail on this in a bit), this BBG will pretty much follow the same procedure as the last two BBG's: CF Stick-only casuals, $1 Single Elim Tourney, followed by BYOC Casuals. This time around, "seats" will be available for the princesses that can't bear to have their gowns tarnished and I am currently searching for a (humorous) "trophy" to hand to the victor of BBG III. Similar to a Boxing division or circuit, the top ranked contender will be issued with a title and belt ("trophy" in this case) and must defend this title in future events. Should the current title holder be bested, they must forfeit their title to the new champion! Now I didn't think past "what if the current champ doesn't show to the next BBG?" yet but I'll probably do something along the lines of having the former champ just forfeit the title by default or have the two title holders battle it out next time around (which could probably get messy if multiple title holders don't regularly show to BBG events :< ) - I really haven't decided yet.

Ok, back to the random douchebaggery that is Mr. Weather. Now according to Weather.com, the forecast for Saturday, June 7th shows a peak temp of 86 and....dum dum DUMMM..."Isolated T-Storms". With BBG's main attraction (1, one and gtfo tourney) being outdoors this will obviously be a problem so I have decided to place the fate of the next BBG in the community's hands by having you all choose between one of the following options should the sun not smile upon us that day:

A) Bump the Single Elim tournament time slot up to 4pm. since we won't be able to run MB off the laptops after 6pm, this will mean less Stick-only Casuals in the beginning (starts at 1pm) and less or possibly no casual play after the Single Elim tourney. *edit* or we can just make stick-only casuals, byoc casuals
instead.

or

B) Push BBG III back to next week (Saturday, June 14th)

Please post up and tell me what you guys think.

Contributions to future Battle by THE GAZEBO events

BBG is a desparate, last-ditch effort to try and keep the non-netplay ECMB community together and for NYC locals/neighboring counties & states, to get down on some lag free comp as well as being give players the opportunity to meet their enemies and heroes face-to-face. But let's face it: this shit is poor and shady as fuck. I mean, we have to run shit out of an arcade on laptops on the low then when it's time for us to peace out, we head to a park to play next to a bathroom lol. Much love to everyone who has endured this so far but if we all work together things can be a bit more commodious for you and your fellow MB'ers. Here are some basic items that you can supply to help things run a bit more smoothly:

Chairs
Not everyone is capable of playing on the mean, cold, rough, concrete streets of NYC and you may just be one of those people. If you are, you should probably try bringing a small stool or chair with you to play in a manner that makes you most comfortable and relaxed. Now I know that if you're coming from quite a ways to attend BBG events you probably don't want to lug extra shit for and 1 1/2+ trip so I will ask from the NYC locals: If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you please bring a folding chair or stool of some sort to share with others when they are up for their matches. You can also donate a chair and either Sp00ky or I will hold on to them and bring to other events. I will personally be bringing two "chairs" for BBG III but feel free to bring your own just in case.

Power Strips
The more the merrier, especially if people are bringing their own laptops for the casual sessions. We need to juice as much of New York's energy as possible! Bring your own if you can or donate =D. Don't forget that you're responsible for your own shit so keep your eyes open.

Extension Cords
You know, I would like to see how far we could get with Operation Bathroom Siphon one day lol. If people are willing to give this a try, post up and let me know who's bringing a cord. Oh, and be sure you have a good lawyer too.

Not so "simple" items

Tripod
Well, we have a functioning (real) camcorder to work with now to record Top4 footage but we need to step up the quality with the non-shaky-cam productions. The tripod I had was seized by family members unbeknownst to me so my plan is to invest in a new one probably by the end of the mth. I'm open to (small) $$  donations if anyone would like to contribute. If you have I tripod of your own and would like to share it for the day, please post infos. Here's to the future of quality ECMB footage.

Megaphone/Bullhorn
I just can't say no to this. I'm so damn hype for hyping up the players during matches (oh yeah, and making important announcements) that I just must have one. Or maybe I just like being loud - AAAHHHHGG, ECMB, GET HYPE!!! Anyway, expect to see one of these in about 2 BBG's or so. Again, open to small $$ donations, just come see me if you're down.

Travel tips
Out-of-towners, please provided and travel tips. They can be useful for others not familiar with the area or may not have solid directions to go by. Bus, car, train, whatever travel tips are welcome. They will be added to the travel tip's section in the first post.

So anyone down for those Simon MM's?

Also I'll try to make it down before the casuals end, so my first time playing of the day isnt a tourney match. :lawlz:
Moar hungry, less sleep, MS  >:(.

And for anyone that doesn't know wtf Fox is talking about with the Simon MMs ---> http://www.meltybread.com/forums/index.php?topic=1508.0

To those who can make it: I hope you enjoy yourselves and remember: MAYK SUM NOIZ! STEP IT UP! STAY HUNGRY! GET HYPE! (RANDOM ALL-CAPS EXCLAMATORY)!

Partly cloudy with a high of 93 degs! Gonna also be humid that day but IT'S ALL GOOD. GO, MELTY BLOOOAAAHHHHHHGETHYPE!!  :psyduck:
Let's make this another hypetastic event and support the EsCene.

On another note...

I know it's a bit early to be posting this but my plan for the next BBG event (BBG IV) is to run a 2v2 single elim, team event in place of the singles event that we have had in the past. As much as I would like for the 2v2 to be a non-duplicate team event, we just dont net enough players to make this happen. Those that are interested should try to get an idea of who you would like to pair up with NOW because you have a lot of time ahead of you as I'm scheduling the next event date for Saturday, June 21 (6/21). Be sure to take what you absorb at the next couple of BBG's to the next East Toast II (http://www.meltybread.com/forums/index.php?topic=1583.0) event that takes place on the following weekend cus I'm sure that will be quite serious as well.

I'll repost this info in the first post a few days after BBG III. Stay tuned and stay hungry.

don't worry, this is just an experiment and I don't plan to do this often. also I'm giving the regulars/locals ample time to put a team together for BBG IV. and hell, if it flops, then we can always call the audible and switch to singles that day. =/

...random teams isn't a bad idea either.

Although very unlikely I'll be able to show for this, I'll see about coming down to support the game. I have another tournament to care for on the same day, which makes my time very limited.

Either way, make shit pop off RECKLESSLY

Tinshi and I ran a team tourney at CF and it turned out really well. I ran GG and he ran 3S. The place was packed and hype as hell. Everyone liked it because
A) $2 entry and about a dollar in tokens spent
B) It was fast
C) different from the regular CF tourneys
D) it was an experiment, damnit

Next event date has been announced (see post #1) and yes I'm aware that this is the same day as MWC so don't bother me about it  :-\. I figure since Sp00ky is the only EC player headed out there no sense postponing the date (back to july!!!) and not trying slip in more events for us to all STEP IT UP.

Also added more meetup infos for ppl who may get confused, lost or wonder "where the hell is everyone" (again, sorry to Kamina/NightRoad). More details will be added to that later in the wk.

Hope niggas is fasting for this next BBG and to Sp00ky: fuck shit up for EC (rawr).  :toot:

Yeah man, we are trying to make this a bi-wkly event whenever possible (unless it conflicts w/ other major tourneys [that a lot of melty heads would attend] or mb tourneys [and personal stuff]). And ppl......please......  >:(READ THE FIRST POST  >:( for all Battle By THE GAZEBO related info. All details (date, time, meetup, WEATHER, directions, cancellations, address, #'s to escort services, etc.) lie within the very first post...Post #1!

For those that will probably still fail...

Date: 6/21/08
Time: 1pm-4pm (Stick only casuals [on one setup])
Place: Chinatown Fair

Time slot 2: 5pm-Until you fuckers decide to go home
Place: Columbus Park (one block from CF)
Events: Single Elim, $1 tourney, BYOC Casual games (on two setups [zar/zaelar], FT3 rotation [need to discuss w/ co-mods])

The plan for this event....Get in as many games as possible. It's not so often we get to play in a lag-free environment all together and the tournament portion will restrict us to playing a select few people so I would like for us to focus a bit more on casual games. The tourney time slot is being bumped up and no team event will take place this time. This means more casual games with the people you want to play and of course, using you're own non-stick (coughgarbagecough) peripheral. Remember to BYOC (bring controller) for tournament...just in case :sadface: .

To my non-poor ppl:
If you can lug an extra laptop for a third casual station it would be much appreciatied

If you have good speakers that plug into a phone jack bring em'. Those would increase hype lvls by at least 50%.

If you have a seat or seats, bring em'. I will be lugging THIS CHAIR X2 to provide optimal ass resting

aight pplz, till tomorrah...WUN  :V (colon-V ftw)

Aight, good stuff there EC. I see you all are hype for the next event being held on JULY 12th. Now if some of you took notice to the title for BBG5 you may be wondering "wtf is this Killer Cameo shit and why are Zar's titles so f'n random". Well, this Battle by THE GAZEBO is going to be epic on many proportions.

First, BBG mods have personally hired two of EC's finest assassins to test our regulars and local players. Their directive: Kill everything in sight with extreme prejudice. Yes, their sole purpose for existing in the MB community is to body YOU at BBG5. For now, their true identities must be concealed as they are wanted in several states for aggressive mashing and consecutive wakeup DP's with a high success rate.Yes, true USMB professionalism  :psyduck:. But all jokes aside, be prepared to bring your A-game this time around because we can guarantee that seeing the Top4 spot is going to be tough.  BBG 5 = SERIOUS BUSINESS!!!  >:( :o >:( :o >:( :o >:(

Second, there is a slim chance that we will actually have the venue reserved for this date. I'm currently looking into this and gathering information. This is definitely not guaranteed and according to the park website I may have already missed the chance to reserve it (20-30 days for permit to clear). Still trying to get in contact w/ the park office to confirm. Dont anyone get their hopes up and you should all be prepared to run it back in front of the HYPE DISPENSER machines.

Looking forward to seeing you all and hopefully some new faces. Trust me on this: if its not too much of a hassle for you to get out to NY, it is DEFINITELY worth the trip for some high quality play.

I will now leave you with some BBG tips:
#1 you probably shouldnt bring your girl to this because it is likely she will get bored and want to do something else which will result in you getting owned for your game time.

#2 if you're a minor, you should probably tell your parents about this now and try to set something up where you will be free for the next BBG.

Ok people listen up!  We have a good ol' fashioned bounty hunt!  Here's your briefing:

Zar the douche is sending assassins to eliminate the people who have supported these tournaments from the start.  While the details are not known, it can be assumed that he is giving them information on how to beat everyone since he is too lazy to do it himself, and isn't even saying who the assassins are so you can't prepare on your end!  This level of douchefaggery shall not be tolerated!  It is an insult to everyone who has made these events great!

As incentive to level up your game, I'm placing a bounty of Zar's head.  Anyone who eliminates Zar will get 500 experience points.  Assassins are secondary targets, and will be worth 200 experience points each.  Keep in mind that these are random encounters and you may also encounter other bounty hunters looking for their heads as well.

Study up, headhunters!  Zar's latest tournament replays(and some youtube[thanks to ankoku]) can be found here:
http://www.meltybread.com/forums/index.php?topic=1650.0

Also, as an incentive to work together, if Zar and both of his assassins are eliminated before getting to the top 4, everyone who makes top 4 will get a 100exp bonus!  Even if the random encounters don't favor you going for your targets, you can still help by helping fellow hunters who might be in a position to eliminate them.  (whoever takes first won't get this bonus due to not needing it to reach the level cap)

Zar the douchefag and his assfagins are not eligible for rewards.  Experience may be converted into pennies at the rate of one experience point to one penny at my discretion.  Pennies may be converted into other denominations of currency at my discretion.  My discretion is biased based on if I have the correct denominations, proper change is available, and/or how many $20 bets you made with me, lost, and failed to pay up.

Next BBG date set for 8/2 (first wknd of August). Pretty much the same as the past events (casuals, intermission, single elim, random event, casuals). More details on this later.

Updates added to first post and new travel tips provided by Jiyuna were added to the traveling section also located in the first post of the thread.

Hope to see a good turn out for the next one and hope to see plenty more on 8/23  :mystery:. Got a big surprise for you all on this date so keep a look out.

MORE DETAILS SOOOON!

Things are looking up for me as far as making it to BBG7, Sorry I can't make it to BBG 6 (If only it was two weeks later  :emo: ). I'm already looking up airline tickets to Philly and catching the Bolt Bus with LK, so it looks I'll be dusting off nearly 5 months worth of dust off my Ciel. The ONLY thing I'm worried about is the day I plan on leaving which is the main reason why I didn't book my ticket yet. Worst case scenario is that I leave Sunday afternoon instead of Monday Evening like I plan.

Anyways can't wait till then and I'll be sure to be up to speed by that time.

I know *some* of you are hoping on getting dat floor space at a certain godfather's house on 8/23 BBG, which is up to you... But this BBG is gonna be BIG, and I'm sure he's not feeling 15 randoms coming to storm his place for the weekend, so..

I've been looking into NYC hotels for 8/23 BBG (Sat night)- average price seems somewhere around 180$ for the night, which is not bad at all if there's a couple bodies splitting the cost. I'm guessing the event will probably be over around 10-11pm, so unless you really wanna get back that same night, probably best just to crash in NYC overnight. I'll try and get a good hotel in the city so people can check out some shit and not have a hard time getting back to busstop/trainstop/airport/etc.

Let me know who's up for it, if enough people are in then I'll book it this weekend. And if you are really broke (even for EC standards), let me know and maybe I can give you closet space for cheap.

8/2 (this Saturday)

With EVO just around the corner, this upcoming Battle By THE GAZEBO event (BBG6) would be a good opportunity for ECMB players to brush up their skills, refine their game play, and gain more matchup experience in time for the "big day".

Procedure will follow the same as in past BBGs: Stick-only casuals (at CF), intermission (ie-food), tournament event at Columbus Park (by dem HYPE MACHINES!).

Now at the last BBG(5), we were fortunate enough to get TWO (shut up, Bell) MB stations setup inside of CF. Players were able to get in more games and because we had such a nice flow going, I permitted the use of non-stick peripherals (oh my gosh) for those players to warm up . Unfortunately, you will never see this happen again. Apparently, two setups are a bit too O.D. for my friend who works at CF during our casual sessioning (taking up too much space, blocking other cabinets and such, too much hype, etc). He was kind enough to let us set up in the back and even keeps a look out for the manager (who would FLIP if he knew what we were doing) so it's understandable why I must respect his wishes. In other words, we're back to one (stick-only) setup.

Now because I'm such a nice guy, I will cut this wks pre-tourney casual session at CF down an hour and setup a bit earlier at the park so that the non-stick users get to warm up in a casual session before the start of the tournament.

See you all in a few days and remember: if you're going to EVO, this would be a goooood chance for you to get naisu for one of the biggest MB events of the yr. If you ain't going to EVO then stay muthafukin' HYPE and keep supporting the scene.

Reminders:

***8/23 info will be edited into this post...probably***

Saturday, August 23rd 2008...

Oh boy. . .This. . .could possibly be the BIGGEST MB gathering not held at a major/mthly event. This. . .may exceed a level of epic that is beyond my control. This. . .will require the assistance and cooperation of ALL who intend to show to "This" event.

. . .An event so mind-blowing that I'm not sure if it is able to bear a title. . .An event so immense that it will need its own thread. . .An event so hype that Snapple machines alone will not be able to fuel it.

We need more. . .we need. . .THE GAZEBO

: Re: Battle by the Gazebo 6: Path to the Pavilion -- Chinatown, NYC - 8/2
: AARP|ZTB August 01, 2008, 05:22:07 PM
lol Keyboard Crushers. They do it to themselves. =/

But here's what I can try to do: Since Zaelar obviously doesnt want to risk any harm to his laptop (and that's his choice, dammit!) we can try to run the said program on someone else's laptop, should there be other people present to provide one, and the kb player can have his matches played on that. But of course there can be an issue with having the program run on their laptop as well (lol). I have no problem w/ the program being run on my laptop BUT i'd advise against anyone using my laptop for serious/tourney/mm matches (dat lag).

And looking at Twinniss's post, this shit looks overly complicated for no reason. Which is probably why most MB tourneys dont even bother w/ the trouble and say 'fuck it, no kb's allowed'. KB players need to just chock it up and invest in a cheap pad (or stick if youre a real man) if they intend to compete at events not in front of their pc. =/

@Zaelar: If there is some issue that I overlooked concerning installation of kb programs or using kb coupled w/ the programs Twinniss has mentioned (which supposedly allow you disable the ability to control your opponent) please let me know so we can sort this out. ( '_')d

oh wait, you won't even need ma programs, i forgot caster has all of this built in

you guys are using caster right??? so replays will all always get saved

just go into the config

Look for these lines

[INPUT]
inputDevice=0
# Your pad number (starting from 0 for the first pad) or 255 for keyboard.

# Keyboard inputs. Check keycodes.txt for appropiate numbers.
kLeft=0xCB
kRight=0xCD
kUp=0xC8
kDown=0xD0
kA=0x31
kB=0x32
kC=0x33
kD=0x34
kQ=0x24
kAD=0x25

# The values below are only used in broadcast mode
inputDevice2p=1

kLeft2p=0xCB
kRight2p=0xCD
kUp2p=0xC8
kDown2p=0xD0
kA2p=0x31
kB2p=0x32
kC2p=0x33
kD2p=0x34
kQ2p=0x24
kAD2p=0x25

and change inputDevice1/2p = 255

@generic, if you want q to be on k change kQ2p=0x24 to 0x25

: Zaelar August 02, 2008, 02:07:06 AM
It's not so much a problem with the program itself but the logistics of having to change it every time someone wants to play and it needing to be on all setups(for larger tournaments).  Same with drivers.  Trusting the programs is another issue that sometimes comes up, for example I'm not putting x-box drivers on my laptop but I wouldn't have a problem with your program, which creates an issue.  I'm not putting in the rules that only programs/drivers trusted by me get to be used, and what if theres another setup that has x-box drivers but not your program?  Too many issues for a problem that already has a hardware solution (custom ps2 controller made with keyboard keys).
