- Captains report starting teammate to a judge. Judge announces opponents for first match to both teams after.
- Winner stays on to face next opponent
- Losing team decides next teammate (that has not already played) to continue the set.
- Coin Flip for Player side upon request. Winning team of the toss must keep the side they request for the entire set.

- Bring your own controller!!!
-Game will be played on VERSUS MODE with default damage settings and timer (handicap and quickmatch will be turned OFF) *For you fags that want to run your gimmick characters*
- Gameplay balance will be set to PS2 Balance (Original).
- Player Side (optional) : RPS/Coin Toss to determine player side. If a decision can't be made, Judge will bitch-slap both players and force a coin-flip for player side (using an american quarter or chinatown fair token most likely).
-Player1 gets the option of Stage Select- no questions. If you want to choose stage then flip/rps for P1 side otherwise just select Random to save time.
- Winner must stay with character/Loser is allowed to switch characters.
- Winner is allowed to switch Moon Style (Crescent,Half,Full).
-No game freezing, invincibility, gamebreaking glitches/bugs allowed *I actually found some gamebreaking shit for NAC so I felt this had to be mentioned. Ryougi LA isn't considered game breaking (as of yet) and is allowed.*
-TYPE EARTH ARC IS BANNED *Do you even have to ask why? All consoles will have non-hacked version of MBAA but just in case: All Eclipse characters are banned too. Basically, any character that's not already on the select screen (with the exception of TypeEarth) can not be chosen.*
- Pausing during matches is not allowed (duh). In the event of an accidental pause, conclusion of the match will be decided by Judge(s).
- Button Configuration is to be set before the start of the (official) match. Use training/versus to test buttons, etc. and restart. *Best bet is to choose characters to start the match, pause and configure buttons then return to character select screen via pause menu. It won't take up that much time.*
-Blind-pick/Double Blind-pick upon request (notify Judge). If either player requests a blind-pick then their opponent has no choice but to oblige. Players must choose both character AND moon style before revealing their choice to the opposing side.
- Auto-fire not allowed
- Macros NOT ALLOWED. You have an E Button that gives access to THREE shortcuts. *If you see anyone mapping A+B/A+B+C/A+D buttons or whatever, let me know and I'll shut their shit down promptly.*
- Don't be a queer; shake hands after the match. Man-hugs are optional.

Judges & Staff will be responsible for match decisions in the event of a random dilemma e.g. pausing mid-match, power outage, controller malfunction, etc. as well as maintaining brackets, assisting entrants if needed, watching for "shady behavior", moving and organizing equipment, assisting with setups, help people keep the area clean, keeping the crowd HYPE and pretty much making sure that everyone is enjoying themselves. If you're interested and are willing to show at the venue/gazebo in Chinatown no later than 1:30pm, please post up and you'll be added to the roster.

Stuff I could use to make this better:
1) Foldable mic stand (Don't really want to pay 20 bucks for one of these, anyone have one around?) -- Not really necessary, ie don't BUY one of these, I only plan on using it this once.
2) DJ style headphones with RCA (the red/white jacks) input/passthrough. Not a necessity but someone who is big on audio might have a set of these around.
3) Help carrying all this equipment from/to my place (ZTB needs this more than me since he has the 2 TVs) I really only need 1 person.
4) A duo who will video tape interesting footage via camera reality show style. Don't bother recording what's going on on screen. It's important that only two people are dedicated to do this so that the style is fluent. The total camera footage needs to be kept to a minimum while capturing as much interesting stuff as possible. That means more focus on direct interviews/Q & A sessions and less focus on sweeping shots (only really need one or two here or there). I'd prefer them to not be me/ZTB/a judge since they will be busy. I'd also prefer it to be a cameraman/reporter style. They should prepare a list of funny/interesting/DIFFICULT questions to ask people alongside the typical stuff that usually gets asked (think Dogface). I'd like them to have priority over everything else going on at the tournament except top 4. That means if they are pulling someone aside and interviewing them and the person has a match coming up, the match is put off until the interview is over.
5) Commentators. I only want to commentate one match as cameo, while leaving others who are better at making spur of the moment/funny remarks to handle the rest. No idea if Tinshi is making it to this.
Please post if you can provide any of this stuff.

I'm just really glad you found the time to come back and give us all a hand again. Your assistance is quite crucial as we will be supplying our own tvs/systems/random and not using convenient laptops anymore and will need a vehicle to lug stuff around. I may need you to PM me your number so we can discuss the scenario in detail.
Lastly, any chance you can talk to your friend about getting that bullhorn/megaphone this time around? Also if you can get your hands on a 3rd TV or know someone who would be willing to donate that would help. If not, don't sweat it cus your doing us a huge favor as is.

I know you're set on getting this done at the Gazebo but to be brutally honest I think this isn't going to end well, especially given the time frame and the trouble we had just setting up two laptops last time. God forbid they fuck you over with just getting the permit, you / LK are going to have to be on their ass just to make sure we can get some actual space this time, let alone tables and chairs to work with.
I talked to the people at Play n Trade, and they're very cool with letting us run monthlies at their location, and they'll even provide the tv's and PS2's to run them on. They mentioned having a basement area we could do it in, and the store handled 23 people just fine for a BB tournament this past Saturday. All they ask is $5-$10 for a house fee, which is completely reasonable.
If you want to stop by to check it out, let me know, I did want to ask more questions.
Also, I'll take the role of interviewing everyone, I'll compile a list of names and a index card or two with questions I'll ask.

Sp00ky Edit: There were several posts after this debating the merits of using a new location versus continuing to use the Gazebo. I removed these posts to help clean up the thread.
Main argument for Gazebo = location we have control of, less fees.

Hacked memory cards can solve the PS2 modding issue ;)
If you have access to one swapdisk, you can hack one memory card. After that, you can hack other memory cards without the need for a swapdisk ever again.
The only issue with this method is that while it is possible to load swapmagic from a memory card, it won't actually work. Instead, you use an app called ESR that only works with games that have been patched to use ESR to boot, so any backup games you've already burned won't work. (Wasted blank dvds! :o)
If Kirby manages to go I'll be able to hook him up before then. Unless Twinniss already has that covered...

Saiyd, I suggest you talk to Steve ASAP, according to Andrew the permit didn't go through because the Park Commission group thought he hadn't paid them, or some shit. They both showed up yesterday to a local tournament at the Break but I don't know if Andrew was trolling or telling the truth, talk to Steve asap, I'll try and get in contact with him as well. If this is the case the Gazebo is out and we're going to have to try and hit up Play n Trade by Union Square.

A new pending date had to be set as there were some difficulties with the former application process and a second request had to be made. More updates and details will be provided this Monday (8/24). Final decision on allowing for console/unlockable characters and rules for the event should be set in about a week. I'll keep you all posted on this as well.

Well a new application has been filed by Sp00ky since there were some errors with processing LK's from before. We tried to match the former date (9/5/9) in an attempt to reclaim that day for reservations but theres a 21 day application process and we came up but 4 days too late. The new date set had to be made for the weekend after (9/12/9) instead.
The good news so far is: Sp00ky's request was in fact actually accepted. We know this because he received a conformation mail shortly after he applied which contained all info he placed on the form (date/time/etc.). For whatever reason LK never received a confirmation mail and thus we were assed out from the beginning. We know now that next time when applying...check for that confirmation mail(note for future reservations). Oh well, stuff happens and this is how we learn. :teach:
There is the possibility that NYC parks will suggest a different date which usually involves rescheduling for either the week before or the week after (as I have mentioned in the past). If this does happen, I will ask Sp00ky to reserve for the original date we asked for which was 9/5/9. For now though, the current pending date is 9/12/9. I'll will post any changes that may occur and reports from Sp00ky about emails ASAP.
Again I apologize for the inconvenience and random hype-kills. We just have to start over again so please just bear with us for now.

Sorry Nas, BBGXI right now is not going to happen this weekend as orginally planned. It's been officially pushed back to next wknd (Sept. 12). Sp00ky has no new info to report about the permit atm and I've asked him to contact NYCParks staff later in the week to find out for sure if we'll be getting the gazebo for next wknd. Much like the last 3 "successful" permit requests, NYCParks will probably mail shit out at the last minute and I'll let you guys know what's up at that point.
As soon as the good word gets out I'll be rushing down the BBG threads and asking for everyone to assemble for the...S-Day or whatever (lol). PMs will be made and numbers have to be exchanged cus this will be the first time I've had to get more than 3-4 people on staff to help out and I'd like things to run smoothly (ugh, and I start class two days before this event =/ ).

Judges & Staff will be responsible for match decisions in the event of a random dilemma e.g. pausing mid-match, power outage, controller malfunction, etc. as well as maintaining brackets, assisting entrants if needed, watching for "shady behavior", moving and organizing equipment, assisting with setups, help people keep the area clean, keeping the crowd HYPE and pretty much making sure that everyone is enjoying themselves. If you're interested and are willing to show at the venue/gazebo in Chinatown no later than 1:30pm, please post up and you'll be added to the roster.

That means alcohol is BANNED FROM THIS EVENT. You guys fucked up on this one last time and im not going to be the guy to get in trouble with it this time. Get drunk AFTER THE EVENT IS OVER.

for commentary I think were better off passing the mic around than sticking to one person not sure why i wanted one or 2 people originally.

LMAOOO. I was actually going to announce this at the event cus posted to the back of the permits are park rules and such. No alcohol is indeed mentioned on that paper...Honestly, I was just looking for an excuse to get fools to actually save me some goddamn liqs after the event this time.
And I think there's some mention about littering and keeping the area clean. You guys always piss me off with this. Four trash receptacles and you still can't get it right. If we get too rowdy with the alcohol and the trash everywhere and staff takes notice to this, then it can very well ruin our chances of future events at this location. So let's try to stay a bit more focused this time around, please.

New In-Game Rules
Dippy has mentioned this in past MB events and after stumbling on to a serious bug, I'll have to include these as well:
-No game freezing, invincibility, gamebreaking glitches/bugs allowed *I actually found some gamebreaking shit for NAC so I felt this had to be mentioned. Ryougi LA isn't considered game breaking (as of yet) and is allowed.*
-Game will be played on VERSUS MODE with default damage settings and timer (handicap and quickmatch will be turned OFF) *For you fags that want to run your gimmick characters*
-Player1 gets the option of Stage Select- no questions. If you want to choose stage then flip/rps for P1 side otherwise just select Random to save time.
-TYPE EARTH ARC IS BANNED *Do you even have to ask why? All consoles will have non-hacked version of MBAA but just in case: All Eclipse characters are banned too. Basically, any character that's not already on the select screen (with the exception of TypeEarth) can not be chosen.*

Sounds fine from what I've read thus far.
I will be attending the event with my laptop for brackets, support, etc. Anything else, I'll just help out one way or another. Also, I'll be there early to
test run the adapters and see which ones would work properly. Should you guys also need a judge/proctor, I'll be more than happy to volunteer as well.
My question is: Since we have the license for the event, when is the cut off time?
Last time we had the event, the park rep cut the power off @ 8pm. Will it be the same time as the last time, or will the park permit extended time?
I'm asking this now before anything, b/c in case if people want to have a Jew Puncha tourney afterwards (optional), then it would be best to have people
set up the game right when either MBAA starts or right in the middle of the top 8, thus killing two :prinny: with one :psyduck:

Reservations are from 2pm-8pm sharp (I mean this quite literally cus the staff doesn't play around lol). After we manage to set everything up properly, casuals and sign-ups will take place (2-3pm). We start start singles at 3pm and continue from there.
Assuming there are no major technical difficulties, I'm guessing the event will progress quickly and leave us enough time for teams and possibly other side events as we're running on 4 setups. If it seems we do in fact have enough time nearing top8 for singles, we'll break for MBAA team sign ups, Sp00ky can check over his media equip and those who wanted to run side shenanigans are free to do so provided they have their own equip/software/laptop/etc. AND...
I request one and only one favor from the people setting up and participating in side tourneys:
Please, if you have entered in MB singles and are present at The GAZEBO try and show some respect to our top8 placers in singles. Stick around and see what you can learn, cheer them on or talk trash (I'll be doing the latter ;D), cheer for the community, pat yourself on the back for supporting the scene and most importantly...keep the crowd HYPE. Don't just walk off somewhere playing your NDS or some poverty fighter on your laptops. It's the least I can expect from you guys if you're not starving or have irl stuff to take care of. If any of you have gone to NEC7 for MBAC then you know what "makin' sum noiz" can do for a community. Don't be lame/salty :-\.
Anyway, 3 more days until dat S-Day! And if anyone has a playlist of some GOOD electronic, trance, d&b, ambient, lounge or techo musics of about 10-20 songs, bring it on a flash drive or CD for me please. Some music while where setting up and and doing sign-ups would be nice to draw some outside attention. Try to show up a bit earlier if you got something for me. If no one brings anything then you'll all have to listen to RAP! :P
