Ok guys, stop ripping the guy a new one.

Get your shit together, because there's a good number of you in here who were looking foward to play the game, so talk to AI, set up shit for next time, and leave whatever his name is out of it. Get your scene going!

Also, a Hisui player?

I'm not the only one!

 >:D

get our scene going? I think Arlieth is doing pretty damn well getting the scene going in the WHOLE COUNTRY with this website alone.

just wait til we get ver.B at FFA..
we're not gonna run shit at AI, its not where we're from

Gosh chill out. Just learn from your mistakes. Don't run anymore tournaments for awhile. Just play the game with people, that in itself is helping the community.

Let it go Zantua, people make mistakes.
But yeah, once we (FFA) get Ver B.  I guarantee you, WE WILL TEAR SHIT UP.  >:D

somehow i dont like the angle of the sticks and buttons on the FFA cab, the way it dips toward you makes my hand extremely cramped. probably cuz i'm really tall too. it'd be nice to have a stool or chair, that'd help.

Well, it's not like there's anything inherently wrong with holding tournaments at AI but a couple of issues have to be addressed before someone steps up to the plate and goes along with this.

1. Different cabinet please. Preferably a head to head, but since I don't think that's feasible with the amount of room in there, a real showcase. Something big and wide so that I can fit my ass next to other people without elbowing them in the face. This is a personal gripe, but I'm not going to enter any tournaments down there when I know my execution will be skewed because the only way I'll fit is by facing the token machine.

2. Coordinate with the management. Not only do you need permission from the owner but a number of other things have to be taken care of. Fliers need to be put up so that the locals will know, and perhaps draw a number of people who don't even want to participate but want to watch. Sticks and buttons need to be in top condition on tournament day. Hell, if the machine can be moved for that one day to accommodate the larger number of people showing up that's way better.

3. Coordinate with the wider community. Always watch out for other tournaments occurring on the same day. I know it didn't happen this time, but since all the Interface players are also 3rd strike players, what if everyone had gone to the Cal Poly tournament? Three people would have shown up? Well, I guess it would have been easier to distribute the prize money.

Also, many of us have run tournaments before, large or small. If you're not completely sure of your plan, then talk it over with someone. I'm sure anyone who is driving out there already wouldn't mind helping to run it as long as they were asked in advance. Don't wait until gametime to start asking people. Five minutes of preparation can save hours of embarrassment.

That being said, I wouldn't mind going out to a properly run AI tournament nor would I mind helping run one. I think that with collaboration from everyone we can put aside yesterday's incident and move forward with the growth of the Arcade Infinity Melty Blood scene. After all, it'll still be a little while before FFA has Melty Blood Act Cadenza: Champion Edition Combat Evolved.

LOL, we're trying to convince Thomas to put Ver. B CE (once we get it)  on the Jap h2h cabs with jap sticks and controller ports so people can bring their pads, joysticks, or whatever they use.

I drove an hour and half, got stuck in the parking lot for 40 minutes, and then waited 2 hours to get the tourney started..

like i said to you Tshkn before we left, no disrespect, but make sure you know how to run a tournament when people are gonna drive an hour and a half to support it.

p.s. i dunno how much more otakuness i could handle in the melty blood scene..

scottind: it was really cool meeting you..rock, paper, scissors for ranbat points!

I'd run the next AI tournament, and there's plenty of things i could do different.

but

1. the owner doesn't like using h-2-h cabs cuz its mostly a waste of space. kof11 is the only one with h-2-h and i could try to have him change melty blood to that spot, but the vertical upright cabs that MB is currently on is an EDTV setup, and i'm not sure of the video signals are interchangable. and the kof setup is very old, while the upright is brand new. i have no qualms as it is currently, the setup is perfect to me. location has been changed though, it's now between the guitarfreaks and initial D.

2. & 3. Yes, sir.

I guess I could try not being fat for the next tournament but we'll see what happens. Anyway, is it possible that you could get us a head to head setup just for tournament days? I think it'll be easier for everybody else since that's what we're used to.

Tshkn, it would be in your best interests to be quiet for a while. If you can't learn how to type in proper English, nobody will ever be able to take you seriously. In the meantime, I will not be endorsing any events run by you for at least six months until I've seen that you're competent at explaining how a tournament is run.

i wouldnt give another chance to run a tournament, at least not for a long time. You seriously need to consider that as an organizer people need to look to you for decisions. Standing by the stairs, asking random people walking by to "help you" by joining your tournament is not the way to do it. The fact that there was a wedding in the plaza was not under your control, but delaying it for 2 hours, is a stretch. I personally didn't want to wait for the machine to Game Over so i could pick my char so i just stuck with Hisui.

Also,
I don't think AI needs the approval of anyone whether or not we can have a Melty Blood tournament. But i think the general consensus is that- it should not be this guy (tshkn).

damn jeebus.. thats some hardcore otaku talk there... i dont care if its 3s related.. still otaku... dork

Ugh, you got me there.

Yeah, I wouldn't take it all personally buddy, it was just the long drive, the waiting for 2 hours, and the long drive home that got to us, so we were all a bit pissed off when we got back. It felt like you thought we came down to hang out instead of play.

I actually met this guy at person the night before while playing casuals at AI.  Even though I had an urge to go to the tourney at first, after meeting this guy I didn't want to any longer.

A) He wouldn't shut the hell up, and was going up to random people who were not even there to play MB, but simply wanted some change from the token machine next to the MB machine.  We got bombarded with random shit:

Him: OMG you know I'm running a ranbat tourney tomorrow right? For melty blood.
Me: I knew about it, you're running it?
Him: Yea, omg i have a 64 man bracket, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna get that many people.
Me: Not sure...
Him: Did you watch that Kingdom Hearts special edition extended trailer of doom.
Me: I've never played Kingdom Hearts.
Him: Well, OMG like this and this happens, and then sora, and this and this happens.
Me: I don't know what you're talking about.
Him: Oh....well have you played the new first of the north star?? it's way better than the previous one and....
Me: *Interrupting* I've never played Fist of the north star.
Him: Oh...*blah blah blah*

So once you manage to evade this guy by hiding by one of your friends, he later proceeds to find you and follow you around and continue talking.  If you do evade him completely, he will go an pray on new comers to AI that clearly give a damn about what he's saying.  I heard him ask probably 6 people about the Kingdom Hearts thing....Sigh...Needless to say, that was a total turnoff to join a tourney this guy was running. :psyduck: :psyduck: :psyduck:

Anyways, I will more than likely make it to the IF tourney, even if it is just for casuals.  Looking forward to it.

Edit:

Fuck, I just realized I put an A) but not a B) or C)

B) That guy smelled like crap.

C) Fuck that guy.

D) Hi Scott and Leo.

Looks like everybody here has some kind of tendency to host tourney somewhere in South CA - which is a pain to me.
There is nothing good nor bad, human make them that way..........

 >:D

Yeah definitely need more folks down at FFA for real; nobody plays it down there but me anyway :'( but at least I get to get use to playing with the sticks ;D
after reading what they posted i felt like crying  i was so mad at my self
<tshkn> maybe i should just kill my self now 4 fuckin up so bad  :'(
that's true chibi and i'll take back what i said too. because running tourny's must be hard espically if it's the first time too. but ya, if you run another one i'll go because ai is koo and that's the thing close to me  ;D
