Final Round is the major fighting game tournament of the southeast, usually taking place in the spring. This have already announced pans for this years event (six months in advance, wtf) and Melty Blood is currently not on the roster. However, after a small shitstorm on shoryuken.com, the game has been brought up for consideration. I've been asked to gauge interest in a Melty Blood tournament there, if it were to happen.
Final Round is one of the longest running tournament series in America, and a strong showing here would be a significant boost to the community as a whole, especially in the south, where there are a lot of fighting game players and a disproportionate lack of MB players (to my knowledge).
Update: Melty Blood is now an official game at Final Round XI (http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=4566946&postcount=576).

I'm going to final round for 3rd or some shit probably, but I'd really rather there be a MBAC tournament there.
Also, as for the disproportionate lack of MBAC players in the south, I'm working on NC. I have maybe a handful of people I can play with regularly at school, as well as another handful of people who will play at gatherings here.

Actually I was hoping you'd come with me, I was probably going with Min again. At the most the trip would probably cost you $300 overall if you were to buy tickets last minute ($200+) and pay say $60+ for a room when splitting it with other people.
And I don't know how long the poll is going to be there but things aren't looking hot for MB anyway.

I just booked another BALLroom at the hotel for SUNDAY, so we can have the melty blood tournament now!!! Now I will say I don't have MB nor do I know anyone in the ATL that can let me borrow it for FRXI. If someone wants to bring the game i'll allow it at FRXI on sunday. Also I want to run the a3 and a2 tournaments. Both will be capped at 32 man so we can get it over with fast due to time.

Can players who are planning on attending please pre-register with ShinBlanka over on shoryuken.com? While it was hype to overshoot the pre-regs at NEC by ~50%, it does mess with planning and he seems to be a real nit about these things.

Yeah, there's a large chance ill be making it. Its at a really really convenient time, and i think we're driving, so itll be cheaper than a plane ticket. Especially now that Melty has been added to the lineup, it makes me much more interested.

Word around here is that my Miami stay may extend until March, so Final Round sounds like a good possibility.

What difference does it make if he plays you on pad? Seriously, to me it just sounds like an excuse that you might lose if he plays on pad and you just need a handicap. Showing that he's serious? Come on give the guy a break, he lives in the middle of nowhere with no major tournament background or scene and decided to travel to NEC. He's definately serious about the game. He's taking time and money now to travel to events like in Final Round, playing and practicing at home, going to gatherings at DIFFERENT cities, I dont know what is making you assume he's not serious. Choosing what kind of input method you prefer in a fighting game = how serious you are to the game is news to me.

What about Texas Showdown? That's all arcade cabinets. I mean in reality there are more MB cabinets in the US then both GG and AH combined, and that's saying alot, and there's more coming still.
Practicing stick with MB in this game means that SHOULD you be given the opportunity to play the game at an arcade cabinet, you will not be assed out, and sooner or later, everyone does. I was playing MB on pad since I started back with the ORIGINAL MB, but then I found out an arcade FOUR STATES AWAY had the damn game (this was well over a year ago) so I made the 14 hour trek up there countless times. Shit was sadness, but the opportunity will be there, and there's no real con in learning stick (in reality I just get alot more hype and energetic when using stick, more so then I ever did with pad).
So I guess learning stick in MB really is a sign that you're getting serious, because even if the chance for a qual or on on actual cab is 0.01%, it's still there, and you'll be ready for it.

You just completely missed the entire point. He said that stick defines how serious you are to the game, that logically doesn't make sense. So you may be playing your stick, and sure it may matter if it gets to the sitatuation that you magically make SBO, but still wouldn't make a difference what you play on if you suck. I'm pretty sure if a significant event like that did occur to him, he'd probably use stick cause he had NO CHOICE. But why would you make a condition like that for a money match? It really just sounds like a silly excuse to me.

I never said I WOULDN'T play against him on stick(I actually agreed), I'm just wondering WHY I HAVE to because I'm not buying that excuse. Ok, yeah I could understand if I had to use stick in a tourney setup or even SBO then I'd obviously use stick in the first place (and BTW I have been and still practice stick so hopefully I can be prepared to be put in a arcade setup like you said). But this is a MM so I should have the option to use w/e I feel comfortable with, not use something that'' obviously put me at a handicap. I'm honestly having to agree with Tare on this and say that only allowing me to use stick against Choco to MM sounds like bull.

Yeah I bet those stick players felt REAL bad about beating JuicyG and FlashMetroid in GG at EVO. Not to mention they even map FRC buttons. This is probably out of my line since it's really between you and Brandon but, you want to talk about SBO, you want to talk about stepping it up. But the only fact here that this match has nothing to do with either of those. It's a money match and the conditions you set just goes to show that you really aren't confident about winning. If you were, it wouldn't matter what he used. Changing a character and input method of a preferred choice does affect your game. I think YOU'RE the one that needs to step up and challenge him under reasonable conditions. You wouldn't be proving anything beating a pad warrior but you obviously have something to brag about beating a gimped player, that's awesome. It seems he agrees to your cowardly decision anyways so, guess it doesn't matter. I'll be seeing you at SBO Finals.

Tare, I could probably spend the next two months before FRXI trying to get you to understand and accept my justifications for the terms... but fuck that. You take your side and argue your points since you think it's so righteous. In the end, I refuse to do a high dollar money match against someone who isn't serious enough to give up being a pad scrub and start practicing hardcore for SBO -now-.

If you're really serious about playing this game, you will 100% play it on stick.
Why?
Because if there's a chance in hell you can get to an arcade cabinet, you will not be assed out. And if there's a bigger chance for the US getting SBO quals AND you getting to attend it, then you're still not assed out.
That's it. You are completely preparing yourself for these two situations, regardless of HOW unlikely it may seem for either them to happen. You can walk in there, lose, and tell yourself:

Lord Knight himself came to a Philly tournament a few weeks ago, and in all honesty he played the worst I've ever seen him (it should have been him and myself in GF).
What did he do immediately after the tournament? Guy came right up to me and asked if he could borrow a stick. I happily lent him one on the spot.

If you're really serious about playing this game, you will 100% play it on stick.
Why?
Because if there's a chance in hell you can get to an arcade cabinet, you will not be assed out. And if there's a bigger chance for the US getting SBO quals AND you getting to attend it, then you're still not assed out.
That's it. You are completely preparing yourself for these two situations, regardless of HOW unlikely it may seem for either them to happen. You can walk in there, lose, and tell yourself:

Yeah I agree learning stick helps in situations where it's absolutely necessary, I'm saying for this SPECIFIC situation that it was just an unnecessary call. Brandon doesn't even have a stick, he has to borrow someone's stick. He never said he wasn't going to learn the stick. Picking an arbitrarily date like Final Round and saying you have to learn stick perfectly by this time is dumb. He should be learning at his own pace and he is. It's like you never played stick, but then I tell you that you have to learn it by next week to compete in this tournament or else it means you're not serious enough in this tournament and that you never will be and you'll just remain a scrub. By the way, it's more than likely that no one in North America is going to even attend SBO this year playing MBAC because the game isn't even on the list. Replaced by MBAA which doesn't even have videos out yet for localization tests. I doubt NA will have any chance of competition given the environment and restrictions when it comes out to cabinet as well.

Also, related to commentary, the mixer Im getting is able to do 2 inputs for mics. If it was possible, for the MM only, to put a guy who was for Choco (Jaxx) and someone who was for Brandino (PBJ or myself.)
Im sure we can figure all this out at a later time like AT Final Round but Im just putting this idea out there.

Outside of Dippy, noone's made an original mix worth using because that shit stops half way in and starts again, ie looping horribly. Hell, the reason Dippy's works at all is because his songs are longer then most matches to begin with. So while I may like the songs, the last thing I want is to hear them getting cut 40 seconds in and starting up again.
But whatever. If you guys do that, I'll just put my headphones on.

Major tournament line up change!!!!! AH will move to Sunday and melty will be on Saturday! With 3S and ggxx-AC having over 100+ players and cvs2 on the same dates we are going to need every tv and ps2 to make sure we get things finished quickly! On Sunday we should have more ps2 free up since mvc2 will be on DC and tekken will be on ps3! I'm sorry about this change at 9 days away!k

Truth be told... this just kills everything! Seeing as the MM was supposed to be a prelude for the tourney, the tourney being on sat just messes up the entire plan. We'll have to think of something in the meantime.
What I just can't understand is why they can't move either 3s or GG to sun. I know it'd be a huge change and all, but it's a lot better to even out the days than hold all the big things on sat and leave the mediocre stuffs for sun!

Or it could be an epilogue to the tournament. It may have ruined someone's victory plans, but they can plan that on their own time. Its still gonna have the same hype if its RIGHT after the tourney or on Sunday. I mean...we got this on the big screen! This doesn't ruin anything, we just gotta make a few changes here and there.

Now that we've been moved to Saturday, I need some time to chill/play in the MB room on Friday but most importantly is to make sure the commentary is set to go come Saturday. Ill test the commentary over some casuals Ill record in the room on Friday. Sounds good?
Also. On the topic of top 8 MB being posted on meltybread, Shin PM'ed me saying we needed to give him the video for the DVD. Altho this doesnt sound as a problem, the lack of not posting it at all is. I am doing my best to keep Shin on his good side because of what he has been doing to make this tournament and MB alone be hype. He told me to not post top 8 at all and to wait for the DVD. This is what I can do: I can have the MMs/Casuals/Early Tournament videos and rpd's up as soon as I can. Other than that...well, top 8 is just gonna have to wait until the DVD comes out.
I am still debating on whether or not posting the top 8 replay files w/o commentary. Or maybe just one match from top 8 with commentary. I still got a week to think it over but I wanted to let all of you guys know this ahead of time.
Also, if anyone is willing, can they be willing to make the subtitles and text for all the videos? It would be of a real big help if you can. Thanks in advance.
To Choco: If you have your cam handy on Friday and Saturday, I wanna tape some expectations for Final Round at the MB room on Friday night. Predictions, hype level of MB, hate talk, hype talk, whatever anyone in there gotta say. Also on Saturday, 1 minute on the hype.
