BBGXI was the first real MBAA tourney in the US, and I think everyone who attended will agree that it was a huge success won by a truly great player. Now with the weather getting colder and people back at school, we can't really afford to hold many more outdooor events this year...so how about we finish the season with a bang and get together for THE BBG TO END ALL BBG'S(of 2009). If this is gonna happen, I want it to be big; we had a ton of new players show up to the last one, hopefully we can get even more PLUS those regulars who didn't come out to BBGXI. But before I start making plans and shit, I gotta check to see if you casuals share my vision....as well as decide on a DATE that is the most convenient for everyone. Just for reference, the last BBG of 2008 was held on October 15th and the weather was beautiful (and if you are still cold I have a special drink that will warm you up real quick).
People need time to recover/get money/get hype, so this possible event won't even be until mid-October. The possible dates are...
Saturday, 10/17 (Season's Beatings)
Saturday, 10/24
Saturday, 10/31 (Halloween)
The 17th is the ideal date for me (but I can make it to any of them), I'm just worried we might lose some people to SB. Ya'll need to post up with what date is good for you, if any. If nothing is convenient or people are just not interested, we'll wait for NEC :toot: Also, sooner you get back at me the better, if we gonna do this it takes some time to secure the coveted gazebo permit.

I'm going to talk to the Play and Trade that held a BB tournament in Union Square because the weather will hinder us eventually. If everyone still wants to try for another BBG at the Gazebo let it be known because we'll have to get another permit and you guys know how unreliable that can end up.
I'll head to the actual location next weekend as well to see what's going on otherwise (space, televisions, etc) and get things finalized then too.

I vote for the 17th as well even though either of the dates is good for me. The last BBG was awesome and I would love to build up my experience and skill before NECX.

Uh, Yeah interested.
Any of those dates seem good. However as you are, I fear that having a BBG at the same time as SB would take participants away. So the 24th sounds good

Honestly and realistically, I don't think anyone that comes to BBG is going to go to SB4, especially given MB's time on the schedule.

Tinshi/XAQ/Chaz/Stickbug/Alzarath are just some names I heard today who were planning on going to SB; that's enough for me to throw out the date. How we gonna have XAQ/SaltKnight runback with no XAQ!?

Also.... CHINATOWN HOTEL RUNBACK!? This will make trip easier for those that are traveling and don't mind sharing a bed with 7 dudes.

Also for anyone not familiar with the CHINATOWN HOTEL, it's a very cheap hotel within walking distance of the Gazebo. At BBG8 we rented out 3 or 4 rooms and shoveled like 20 people into them; cutting down costs to like $5-$10 a person. Don't expect gdlk conditions though, you get what you pay for- here's a pic of one of the rooms before the other 9 people piled in and went to sleep.

The rooms do come with TV's on the walls though, so maybe we can get more MBAA in after tourney.

Each room supports a maximum of 2 people (image: look at a king sized bed, the rooms are a little smaller that that).
250% more people OVER max capacity (not including baggage/systems).

They do have bigger rooms that are not too much more expensive, if someone could go see how they look on their free time that would be nice.

Kinda late as interest check but i might as well say it now that i'll be trying my hardest to make it to this. i have a place to stay very close by which is very helpful although transportation is kind of a bitch. i have a few questions though.
how far is the gazebo from the NYSE? also i know shit goes down way late and i don't wanna invite myself to anyone(coughspookycough)'s house for the night but how uh safe is it to walk/travel/however from wherever the gazebo is to the nyse? yeah the nyse is really close to the place i'd be staying.

In NYC, you can easily get wherever you wanna go with the subways. NYSE and Gazebo are both in lower Manhattan, so it's probably just a 5-10 min subway ride- I can give you easy directions if you show up. Also the area is safe, even on a Saturday night at 2am there are still tons of people/cops walking around so you not gonna get randomly jumped in an alley like the movies. Just don't look like a bitch and people will leave you alone.

Seeing that the 24th is booked, it's possible for the end of October so people can cosplay their favorite loli fanboy heroes and still make it in the top 8, just like
:psyduck:, :slowpoke: and :prinny: did a few weeks ago...
Otherwise, I always look forward for another final BBG before NECX, plus some more Ajisen Sake throwdowns...And THIS TIME, all the heavy hitters interested in
the sake throw down will sit next to Jiyuna and I for another 9 inning playoff. no :fap: boys allowed!
Cross your fingers for another hype event. I'll try to bring some more slammin Casbah music w/ some subwoofer speakers.
