When's Melty on Steam?

So I know we have a growing community here in the south. And obv you guys MDVA play melty and enjoy the game. But it's a fucking 12 hour drive from one place to the other. The main concept of this tournament is to provide a middleground.
I've talked to one of the major TOs in NC about the idea of holding a melty tourney there as sort of a "mini melty major" -- something about 6 hours away from all of us. Anyways, I think it's a nice idea and if we could all work out a good date for everyone we could probably get a pretty good tourney going.
His next tournament is on June 23 but nothing is set in stone now as far as this goes, I just want to see if any of you would be interested in meeting half ways for some melty blood. Certainly anyone in Tennesee, Kentucky, or even Ohio players are welcome and anyone who wants to drive further too.

yoooo Brandino, that would be hype. If you have anyone you might be carpooling with bug them too. If everyone who should come comes we can get 16 easy if not more

It would honestly depend on the date. Any time after July would be ideal for me personally, but I know Summer Jam usually goes down in Philly in August so honestly a date in September / October would really work out for me.

Yeah, at the moment the most IMMEDIATE date would be June22, but he holds tourneys monthly so it's not hard to push it back depending on what everyone wants to do. Summer time is probably best though

Though, if there's a carpooling from GA to NC and if the tourney is on Saturday, then things look a bit better for me.

Well the tournament is definitely on a Saturday. And SVX I would be taking my car up, hopefully full of Melty folk :3

I will say that if you're trying to make this a mini-major and expect players from TN, KY, OH and the South East I would really advise trying to make it two days if possible.
I'd gladly drag down some MI players (and by that I mean Axis) for a MB major.

Summer Jam usually goes down in Philly in August
This year SJ is early August. I don't feel like getting my phone to check when. I'll post up a thread closer to the event.

Seeing as BBG is likely in June, and Summer Slam will be in August. I'm thinking about planning for a July date. I'll talk to him and see about getting 2 days maybe he can hype up the other games too.
Edit: to avoid EVO overlap, maybe July28-29ish.

I don't specifically know of anyone in that area, but since this will be combined with a SF/Marvel etc event maybe you'd be able to find someone on SRK to ride with?

Edit : This is not the event ZomB is talking about, but it will be held at the same venue and run by the same TO. MBAACC will be there.

So you want to a run a major?
I know there is actually a scene for MB in North Carolina from when I lived there one year, and if PWS can drag a few of his people down, we can get MD/VA in on this, and a couple people up from Georgia/Alabama up, it could be a decent sized event (25+).
I have to get my car inspected in North Carolina sometime before August 31st, so I was planning on going down anyway. If you give a months notice, and this isn't within a week of Summer Jam, you can get people.
You need to give people 4-6 weeks if you want to run a a large event. I don't think a July event is going to pull anything, If you want to do the weekend of the 11th in August, it would be much better I think. If you set a date we can start making arrangements.
I am also not opposed to carpooling with a couple people who want to go from my area, given they understand I need to take out some time either that Friday or Saturday to get my car inspected. I drive to visit my parents in NC every few months, and this drive is much shorter than the one to Final Round.
