I definitely don't think all the west coast should be mixed up together, there are too many communities and we all have multiple players from our scenes we want in the tournament. I think a good solution would be to split up EC and WC and drop wild card and foreign, since most of the jp will probably opt for SBO instead.

my only real concern is that single elim is kinda shady when beginning brackets is NJ vs NY, winner plays winner of Bellhaus vs South
the tourney idea started out as a really SRS BSNS regional contest with harsh filtering that would have been exclusive but it's now become more of an open team tourney with the massive numbers allowed to play in this format.  i don't have a problem with that

I am 100% behind making sure no one plays against their own coast first round. I will randomize/float when needed to make sure that doesn't happen. Now you're not being granted that if both teams make it to like 3rd round or some shit.

I think a huge single elim would be the most fun.  The most crazy upsets and random raging comes out of single elim.  lol

Everyone's pretty srs bsns about it though, wanting it to be mad high stakes and shit, so smaller amount of teams with double elim is probably necessary for accuracy reasons.  We can just start combining closer regions together until we have whittled it down to a small enough number.  If we go that route, I think international should be allowed one combined team (if we have enough in attendance to actually make one), but wildcard teams should be out.  Teams should be prepared well in advance to the actual event, in this case.

If we're going just 8, the teams could probably be set up like:
West coast north
West coast south
Desert coast
Dirty south
East coast north
East coast south
Midwest
International 

Some things I'm unsure of:
-If not enough people RSVP for the Intl team, what would it be changed to? 
-Are the scenes in the South or Midwest big enough to warrant a split?
-Exactly how many people are we allowing per team?

Well if a team of international players can not be completed then why not a wild card team being selected. As far as preparing the teams shouldn't it be done fair and have each region host a tourny where each of the members are chosen by the top slot winners of the region tourny. Also in my opinion I think 5 man teams would be awesome and make things interesting.

imo wildcard teams sound kind of dumb.  they take players out of the general pool to create a team that will just lose in the first or second round of elims.  if we want this tourney to be high stakes/elite it should be 8 teams double elim, if we wanna just let everyone come play for fun it should be 16

Well for wildcard you can take the top 5 or 6 players from other regions who did not qualify to get into their respective teams and set them up as wild card. And I know there would be 7 other teams and you might say well we can't take the top 5 or 6 because that leaves either 1 or 2 players out. But if you assign a captain for wild card have them select the other players in the team I say it makes better sense but thats my opinion on these things.

Seems the general concensus is 16 teams. If we can have a promised 80 players to fill it out, we can make it happen. Another thing I have to ask is, how many international players are planning to make Evo. I'm a little scared that if we don't have much out of country players, there would be no international team so I'd be splitting up too much of the country for this fight to fill team spots.

Also, I was snooping around WC community threads and there was talk about QUALIFIERS for their respected team(s). I believe we should enforce that.

That's fine and all that WC wants to hold qualifiers for THEIR regional team, but it isn't something all *16* teams/regionals should have to do if they don't want to. I mean I'm only speaking for NC since we're getting our own team and all...lol, but we more or less already have our team set.

Personally, 16 teams sounds too excessive for a "regional battle" considering that there could be some teams with players who aren't in their respected regions or even the possibility of 16 teams of 5 players not even happening. If you ask me a standard 5v5 or 3v3 would be much less of a hassle.

SF4 could've gotten A LOT more than 16 teams easily for a *standard* 5v5, but I doubt he would even bother to try and come up with more than 7 regions         and a wildcard to split up.

If we're seriously going to have 16 teams then we could split it up with 8 regions with each region having no more than two teams MAX.

The format was taken from the SF4 regional event and you can check the map yourself to see how I split the regions (yeah I missed some states, but whatever). Not saying this is final or anything, but at least should be considered.

Edit: Reason why I put Norcal by itself is because Norcal could *possibly* form it's own team and team with WA/OR if they choose and why I put Socal with Southwest is because Socal, in it's current state, would not be able to form a team by itself...
