After discussions we have decided to waive the tournament entry fee to the Dead or Alive 5 Singles Tournament!
That's right, it is free to enter the tournament! This does not mean that there will be no prizes to the entrants who place in the tournament. In addition to winning their own copy of Dead or Alive 5's Collector's Edition for the system of their choosing when the game releases, there is a pot prize of $500 provided by myself and Erik "Rikuto" Argetsinger to be divided up by the top three of the tournament in a 70/20/10 split.
GVN Sumer Jam 6 and Dead or Alive 5 are going to be hype! I look forward to seeing all new and old competitors looking to try out the most competitive Dead or Alive game to date.

Don't miss out on this great room Me and Kazi(AG) will have for you guys.
-
SG and Persona 4 will be added to the list.
-
MB teams should be 2v2. Unless someone decided to change that since last time.
And I should be able to be there.
-
Teams for MB should be 2v2, unless i can get people to fill out a bracket with 3v3.
-
I'll be dere 8-)
-
I want to go
-
I will be there most definitely...
Going to be (poorly) playing both Melty and Ultimate in Satonaka Arena
-
who else is going? i should be able to go, making this the last tourney in the forseeable future with complete $NJ$ attendance. make sure you also sign up for p4u
-
Tryin to go to this as well! Should be with a few other New England guys
Sign me up for MBCC, BB and GG
-
I'll be there mashing buttans in MB and P4U
-

COME AT ME
-
ill be accepting $MM$
COME AT ME
:)
-
I'll be here. Just need to work out the fine print.
Planning to play Melty and Persona mostly, some KOF and UMVC3 too.
Ehrik: Let's go, $10! First to 5.
I'll need a Melty teammate too!
-
Very good chance im going. Entering Melty and P4U. I'm most likely booking a room again so the usual guys PM me if needed.
Will MM poverty games for poverty amounts. (Iamp/EFZ guys hit me up) :toot:
-
I'll do poverty iamp/efz stuff :3 soku if there's demand, I don't mind the game offline
-
I'll be going, but I don't really give a shit about playing anything serious (because none of you are), though I'll enter anyway. Or something.
WHO CAN I STAY WITH PLEASE
-
All taking melty money matches from anyone (Ehrik has been thoroughly challenged)
-
Lets go MB players the dustloop thread is going crazy.
-
I might be in the area... Although if anything of the past couple of weeks my schedule is really sporadic so it would be a last minute type of thing, but I'd enter Melty if I did show up.
-
So... melty teams 2v2 or 3v3? Is NY making it out?
-
Should be 2v2.
Don't know about NY yet, Zar's probably going to need transportation if he's going to come.
-
Lets go MB players the dustloop thread is going crazy.
I've been in contact with all our regulars players about if they plan on attending this event. Everyone I talked to (easily 20+ people) plan on coming, and there is going to be some hype matches no doubt. We should focus on drawing out more people though, I think this event could reach 36+ people if we all really tried.
-
Teams should be 2v2 unless there's 40+ players and if it's 2v2, it should be Mi-Ka-Do format, just my two cents.

It seems there's talk even if it isn't on the forum. Would be nice to see some posting here though.

Cool i just updated the first post.
If you didnt get a hotel room please hurry up 202 rooms gone so far.
-
Yeah let's get 6 more people then Evolution got guys!

I'm in the mood to do some more reversal 2a's with Patchouli.
-
I'll be there.
-
Damn. Thinking real hard if I want to mash on some Persona buttons. I'll go if I can grab a room with someone. Also I heard that they closed down like all the Chinatown buses there. Is it true?
-
HEY CAN ANYONE IN PHILLY PUT ME UP SUNDAY NIGHT AND TAKE ME TO THE AIRPORT IN THE MORNING I'LL GIVE GAS DOLLARS
I'm about to buy my plane tickets and it would save me like $100. we can play video games and cuddle but nothing too homo or my waifus will get mad
if you don't know who I am I will earn your respect by beating you at iamp? <3
Edit: or if someone is staying at the hotel through Monday I could chip in. That would be boss. Thanks.
-
Five of us are coming for MB and P4U.
-
Just bumping this to see who's still going.
-
I'm still going, might be bringing a couple scrubs along.
-
The only way I can go is if someone is driving me home early on sunday, and I don't see that happening.
-

It's called Waseda format, and I do prefer it as well. It guarantees that both players play.
-
Okay, it's almost time. Because the current release is PC, I need your guys help for setups (if it was ps3 or ps2 I'd be fine :nyoro:)
Is there anyone coming that will be bringing setups? We need 3 setups.
-
just to let you guys know, there's a possibility your space for setups might get compromised with how big p4a could possibly get that weekend. in any case my pc will be there at the least, along with my speakers
edit: ill also let people know if ill be hosting the day before for anyone getting in early, i should know by the end of this week

Put us out of our fucking misery already, shit.
Now we're an actual hindrance.
-
Wait...weren't you the same guy who was like "I may as well tell Eric to take Melty out of xyz events" (paraphrase obv) not too long ago??
Oh you, Chibi lol
-
Put us out of our fucking misery already, shit.

i didn't mean it like that! since there's a chance p4u could get that big we might have to cut down on the amount of setups the lesser games will have. you aren't gonna see the random poverty setups and doa taking up a million spaces either, we'll have to probably give everyone a max of 2 setups so we have as much space as possible incase 100 niggas sign up. Eric will never completely remove a game, worst case we'd just cut down on stuff that can afford to run on 1 or 2 stations. too many games came out this year :(

its not melty itself getting singled out, i gotta stress that point. ah3 is gonna get the same treatment if it even gets numbers!

You can't stop the e-sports train! Whoo Whooooooooooooo!!!
If I was a tournament organizer nowadays, there's no way you would ever get me to add MBCC to my roster -- and I say that regardless of how much I enjoy the game.
-
I'm being entirely serious now, when we've become an actual hindrance you have to ask yourself if its worth at this point. No, I have no right telling people what to do but when you become the expendable part of a tournament it begs the question on continuing onward.
God Bless Eric but we went from main game status to 'lol we'll run it with Killer Instinct, someone will totally enter'. No one really cares to play at this point (this is 100% fact) but people will bitch and moan about me just bringing it up anyway.
Whatever~

fuck you I'm playing melty blood
-
I'm going to keep playing as long as possible. People will play if I provide a setup.

yeah like you did at the last st1ckbug tournament, right?
Right...?
-
Aaaaaa yall arent listening!
You know how at NEC theres like 4 setups for Arcana even though there are only 40 entrants, while umvc3 has 8 setups with 180 entrants? Or ssf4 has 10 setups for 210 while BB has 5 setups for 60 entrants(this is probably necessary though with how Alan only has 1 day to do his job lol)? I'm saying that all the other games will probably get downsized to help make space for a game that'll probably pull in big numbers. I mean Melty is dead yeah, but in no way am I saying the game is a thumbtack in Eric's behind. Please don't start jumping to conclusions on things I'm not really saying, since I'll probably end up getting chewed out really badly from him if he hears people saying I'm conveying a message he never agreed with :(
EDIT: Again, I'm not saying any game at an Eric tournament is a hinderance(that is solely up to him to decide), I'm saying number of setups will reflect number of entrants. A bigger game gets more screens to move the tourney faster, a smaller game gets less since it can handle it!
-
When the fuck was it stated that we'd be a hindrance? Hal said we may be hard up for space.
Shut the fuck up kids, don't make me turn this car around.

Now that things are cleared up (mostly), we should figure out what we're going to do with the footage. Winter Brawl didn't get uploaded for multiple reasons and that's something I want to change. I'd stick commentary on it myself, but I haven't really found my groove for it.
-
If we can't get a stream, we can at least save the Replays for Top 3 on Hal's computer and add commentary later.
If anybody has the equipment to stream it though, I'm all for it.
-
I'm going to attempt to get replays for the whole tournament and get them sorted this time. If you want to add commentary let me know. I'll post them up anyway and you can reply with the commentated version.
I doubt we can stream on the hotel's net because it will cause problems for Sp00ky. Ya know, losing him was probably one of our biggest losses.
-
I'm still playing Melty Blood :toot:
-
Dont worry guys i will find you guys extra spacer if you need it.
-
Good to hear Big E.
-
Most likely not coming to this, couldn't get the days off for it and I'm not ready for another P4U tournament anyway.
-
Dont worry guys i will find you guys extra spacer if you need it.
This is going to be a fun weekend. Thanks for the support Eric, as always.
-
So I was reading about the GG/BB/P4A team tourney and realized.... I don't know anyone who plays BB or GG :bricks:
so if anyone wants to team for that lemme know.
-
Guys i will try to get you 4G for nec13 so you guys can stream.
Eddie i need start times.
-
Singles will start at 2:30pm on Saturday, Teams will start on 1:00pm Sunday.
Teams will be 2 man teams, unless you can get me 8+ teams of 3v3.
Teams will be your standard teams format (Winner stays, team plays until out of players).
-

You don't play those games :gonk:
-
Tigre, may I appeal that we try Waseda format for this team tournament? We haven't used it since WinterBrawl 4, but I think it will be fun.
It's simple in a 2v2,
Team A player 1 and Team B's player 1 fight each other.
Team A player 2 and Team B's player 2 fight each other.
If a team wins both matches, that team wins. If a team loses both matches, that team loses.
If a team wins one and loses one, the winning players fight each other. It keeps the event short, streamlined, but also guarantees that everyone who entered teams plays. It requires no extra management on your part, the teams can certainly do this themselves.
Of course standard format is better for 3v3 though.
