: Dipstick May 02, 2007, 07:46:21 PM
I doubt min f'in masters would ever post this here either, but unlike DSP he does not actually loathe MB (just Chibi) -- so here it is.

The date: Saturday, May 19, 2007
The time: 12pm to 12am
The price: $10 cover, $5 to enter MB:AC
The place: web2zone
54 Cooper Square (Cafe area)
New York, NY 10003
212-614-7300

Doors open at 12, casuals until 3. Tournament signups are from 1:30 until 2:30, and all tournaments are scheduled to start at 3 PM. Standard rules (2/3 rounds 2/3 games 3/5 for winners final, losers final, grand finals), bring your own stick or pad, we're playing on the PS2 version because we're ghetto, and don't act stupid. Also sickness and rank odor are banned so don't bring that shit.

MB will be there, even though this is meant to be an Evo East prep. event and there's no such noise at Evo (this year :V ). MB actually included a pot bonus last time (!!) and that offer is on the table again from web2zone, turnout dependent. MB is also the only five dollar tournament (open question: should this change?) because MB is the baller's choice and we can afford that shit. Games should be recorded (they will be if I make it), so be prepared to make an ass out of the 100 people live in attendance and a few hundred more watching on youtube. Sp00ky and Zar should be back for this, and they are going to be very fucking angry and just as hungry. Lots of other people have things to prove, from XAQ and his relationship with Arc to Chibi and his ability to think and Dippy and his willingness to exist.

Other tournament games:

-SF3: Third Strike
-Capcom vs. SNK 2
-Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
-Marvel vs. Capcom 2
-Guilty Gear XX Slash (singles and teams)
-Virtua Fighter 5 (aka best game ever)
-Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection
-Dead or Alive 4

On top of that, lasers, traps, and lolis will all be available at the venue. No reason not to go.

Get hype,
Get hungry,
Get better,
Get shot.

Sorry it took so long to post, but ranking results from the first ranbat.  This one will be seeded using them.  I don't have much time right now so i'll post the specifics on thursday when I get back from my vacation.  Top 8 present will get seeded, with ties broken randomly.  Everyone else is random.

I'm also thinking of including a bonus as an incentive for people to step their game up.  I'm still working on the details though.

1)Xaq - 7
2)Chibi - 6
3)Damian - 5
4)Andrew - 4
5)Buri - 3
5)Chaz - 3
7)Rich - 2
7)Zaelar - 2

The following all have 1:
Jamie, Tony, Kayin, Sven, Nightroad, Finale, Desert Coffin,Kyle, 30pot, Nas, Plural, Legacy.

Updating on the format.

First the point system.  To start, first gets 7, second gets 6, ect., with 1 being the minimum(everyone who enters gets at least 1 point).  Also, for each tournament, there will be an incrace to the points given.  This tournament, first gets +3 and second gets +1, so first gets 10, seocnd gets 7, third gets 5, and one less for each place down.  9th and worse get one point.

The seeding is the top 4 get byes to the semi-semi-finals(must win 3 games to make it to the grand finals in winners side, will get 9th if they go out in two).  The next 4 get byes to the semi-semi-semi-finals(must win 4; 13th if out in two).  All ties will be broken randomly.  Out of everyone who doesn't get seeded, there will be 4 in winners and 4 in losers who make it to those who do get seeded.  Depending on the number of entrees, it might be run on two brackets.  The first bracket, for those who don't get seeded, will need to make top 8 to make it to the seeded bracket.

Zaeler: That seeding fucking sucks. Just seed the top players away from each other and call it a day. The last thing we need is people going 'lol rigged'.

Surprising that Spooky placed so poorly... but I do not think it's much to worry about. It was the PS2 version, afterall. Just hope that he doesn't consider not coming to West Toast because of this D:
: Re: Super Practice Opera at web2zone (NYC, 5/19/2007)

I lost. It's not a big deal really it happens, just motivates me to rethink my playing a little. But yeah im not taking anything away form anyone here, I was losing to XAQ in casuals as well.

I didn't execute poorly or anything either from what I can see in the vids. I just got outguessed a lot.
: Re: Super Practice Opera at web2zone (NYC, 5/19/2007)
: Dipstick May 20, 2007, 08:33:19 PM
This really was one of the most depressing tournaments I have ever seen. I'm not a believer in Hype(tm) but there was negative buzz in the air with this tournament. It felt like I was attending a funeral... and maybe I was.

I didn't execute poorly or anything either from what I can see in the vids. I just got airthrown a lot.

Fixed. :V

Two things I need to address now before they possibly get out of hand:

Sabin: I heard some of the things you said about me and I'm :(. I have no quarrel with you (except with some fighting game full of little girls  :V). Just because I freaked when you started grabbing me doesn't mean I think ill of you, then or now. I couldn't even hear you (I had my headphones on) and I'm paranoid as fuck, so when someone grabs me from behind out of nowhere yeah I'm going to start spazzing out. :\

Master Chibi: I've been hearing that you want to challenge me to a $500 money match. Well, you should know I would never accept such an endeavor. :\

I said $50, not $500, I don't know where $500 came from.

;P
That's even lamer -- at least $500 was absurd enough to make people double-take. Nobody is going to give a shit about two replacement-level players playing for $50.

i must say... it wasn't that depressing to me... matter fact really nothing depresses me that badly... the only thing that was bad was attendence.. but that's due to evo east being close

Chibis- sorry ill bring the tv next time...

Xaq-good ass whippings by you sir... next time man... next time

sibladeko- good matches against Warcueid...hope to play you again too..

tinshi-haha you's a cool dude man...i need to play in MELTY BLOOD.. although i like playing peeps in tekken DR...

damian's habit of air throwing is something that he has picked up from playing gg.  we quit playing melty blood about two months ago because i told him the game was crap.  i didnt like the snobby attitude i got from you when i offered to travel to play you and engaged in a very one-sided effort to keep in touch.  we might have learned a lot together eventually, but it is of no concern to me now.  i suppose i was the only one who could see that.  if your scene dies, blame yourselves.

2 ciel's in the winners final... lets accept that shes broken and move on... also i use sj.c more than j.b, i learned to abuse j.c's clash frames a long time ago to deal with nero chaos's clash frames and it stuck... in fact anything i do is designed to beat clash frames or people who jump... in the last match i saved dashing 5a, 4c for the final moments to stop spooky from jumping but i try not to use it too much since its so scrubby... beats low parry, sets up throws, stops jumpers, chains into madness, does everything and more etc... also option select air parry/throw is too good...

mb at evo east? anyone?

: Re: Super Practice Opera at web2zone (NYC, 5/19/2007)
: Sp00ky May 22, 2007, 04:13:38 PM
Ciels not broken at all, she's just a popular character. If you have 3 ciels playing in a 12 man tournament it's easy for 2 of them to be in top 3.

Also dashing 5A loses to low parry. A attacks can be parried both ways. The real reason it works and why you should keep doing it is because it looks like a throw setup so people (including me) poke it.
: Re: Super Practice Opera at web2zone (NYC, 5/19/2007)
: Nas May 22, 2007, 06:48:11 PM

I'm scheming something up...a Melty Blood Ranbat Masters Tournament!  (Nothing finalized, just ideaing)Right now my idea is something along the lines of right after the fifth ranbat, the top some people by ranbat ranks and the highest placed person or two at the tournament not at the top of the ranbat get to play in this invitation only free entree tournament.  Single elimination, one game, 3/5 rounds, and I'll put some money down for a prize.  Again, nothing is in stone yet, but I'll be trying to get something like this to happen.
