If I'm able to use a pad, then I'll use a pad, otherwise I'm quite fine using a stick.

dude, you're such a fucking liar. there were plenty of times where you got fed up switched to pad out of frustration/lack of comfort. if you were truly 'fine' there wouldn't be any need to ever use pad, right?
zar are you even aware that your attitude is what drove people off in the first place. i think zar's attitude is worse than all of that. cause neither of you guys mean anything. but zar can poison shit around him. zar's the one that gets personal online and does realtalk that's out of line.

nah smash is just a really different game... it's fighter in it's own way... but it's definetely not a traditional fighter... and there a lot stuff in smash that just don't make sense in other fighters..most smash players can be pricks... like philly ones but meh.. oh well... im not saying a smash player can't do it... it's just little more of the attitude of the smash players that i hate the most... almost like the DOA community..lol
Basically... kind of a big deal....

Exactly. I'm not hating on Smash because I play the game (haven't played competitively in over a year though), but what I do hate is the attitude that they adopt towards traditional fighters. imho I don't think I should have been reprimanded so quickly for my rants because it's not senseless hate and there was clear reasoning for doing so, as Arly clearly explained earlier. But yeah, Smash is the kind of game where practically no gameplay mechanics (or some very obscure ones) would transfer over to a game like MBAC. Hence why I would be disappointed if someone like KDJ defeated me because I had a lot more knowledge and experience with the game as opposed to the few sitdowns he had with it. That's what I meant when I said I had a little too much pride because I wasn't trying to place myself on a pedestal or anything.

well i know you weren't hating on the game... but honestly the smash community is filled with hate alot... i don't know... i tried it... it was moreso it's community than the game itself that i didn't like... but meh...

Yeah, I hear you. It's not the game but rather the attitudes they have about it that invite a lot of hostility. But I don't think it gets any worse than where I live because we're like 10-15 minutes away from Ken. This is part of the reason why I went on such a long hiatus with the game. :-\

Man if there was anyway you could use your old Saitek you'd be using that shit, don't lie.

And what I said is true, if I'm able to use my pad, then I will use it, but if I hit up TGA or don't have pad then I'm fine using stick. I'm better with pad, but I'm not a completely lost cause with stick. At the moment I don't have one to practice with anyway.

ERRRRNNNNTTTT!!! I-N-C-O-R-R-E-C-T.

As tempting as it may seem to you, choosing a saitek over stick would be -EV for me considering the fact that mb is gradually becoming more tollerated(?) and accepted in other fg communities.  Its only a matter of time (got $$ on next yr.) before the population accumulates enough ppl for it to be deemed 'worthy' of an 'official' SBO qual.

And do you know where those quals will be held? Youd best believe that TGA will be a likely candidate =D.

And do you know what TGA will be using to operate mb on? thats right, ARCADE CABINENTSSSSSSssss! And arcade cabs have *gasp* -omg- STICKSSSSSsss.

Assuming you got really chummy w/ your trusty non-stick peripheral, conveying muscle memory or whatever you may have learned will not be a simple task because....ITS MELTY BLOOD......ON STIIIICKK!

Play on a saitek? why the fuck would i do that to myself? so i can not compete to my fullest when it comes time to collect that dough?

awww sorry chibi, your inference was wrong but you do win the consolation prize....INTELLIGENCE. what he will do with it folks...no one knows.

I only have a vague idea of where all of this animosity for Smash players is coming from. There is this perception (real or otherwise) that after you won the ranbat four months back that there were many :blah: from people on Smashboards about how the game is easy, how the 'top players' in the game were an utter joke, how I should die in a fire (oh wait that was the #meltyblood people talking), etc.. I can not find any actual first-hand evidence of this, however -- just a lot of second-level (or greater) references. Then again, if I read Smashboards for more than 2 minutes my brain explodes. :-\ So I have no idea what the actual truth there is (and again, it's highly likely that other players were talking shit but neither of you had anything to do with it).

With that all said: KoreanDJ, entering the Melty Blood tournament at Anime Boston?  :V

I have no hate against Smash either. I enjoy the game, though I'm not very good at it.

Personally I'm trying to find the connection between Smash and MB, I've asked some other Smash players why it seems that MB is gaining some popularity in their community, but noone's been able to give me much of an answer.

And I ask that out of curiousity, not out of spite or anything, I'm just not seeing a connection here, but hell I can't complain, right?

They have NO similarities whatsoever. That's what I'd like to know too because I'm a rather curious person myself.

And KDJ, I would play against you if I didn't live so damn far away. :\ I plan on going to Evo (not 100% sure yet) so if you do too  we can play there.

Apparently a lot of the original MB:AC players in Japan came from SSBM, and had been playing React on the PC before that.

Not that such a statement helps any, but it does not seem limited to just the US.

Seriously, we need to set up one or two Melty Bread rooms for EVO World. Less money on rooms = moar reason to travel.
