Need some crash course tourney help...

There's supposed to be a tourney at the next Sakuracon but the original host jumped ship so in order to still have one, I decided last minute I would host it. The problem is I've never hosted a fighting tourney nor really been to any. So now I need to puke out some rules ASAP and I was hoping I could get some input on what would be some general rules to use for a anime convention so it won't completely blow up in my face. (Not looking to run EVO here, just some basic rules)

I've looked around at some of the other threads and so far come up with:
* PC Ver B
* Single Elimination, Best 2/3 games
* Neco Arc/Chaos banned
* Character change between matches, winner of previous match stays the same.

Still looking at those bracket programs to make my life easier but any other rules/tips would help. Thanks.

What's the estimated amount of people going to enter?

Answer these and I can point you in the direction you need.

Whoops, I did forget that. Looks like PC VerB since they're demanding a actual JP console for the ps2 version and I have no idea what kind of turnout it'll be. I hope to god that it doesn't end up being only 5 people...

Okay, rules I would put down would be.

2/3 games, double elimination
Necos are not banned (Why would they be, also remember to have NAC unlocked in case someone wants to use him)
Able to switch characters if lose, if win keep same.
Default time settings/damage scaling

Also PS2 is obsolete (Speed is way too fast, lack of playable White Len, move properties changed, move buffer is more frames iirc.)

Hm, was thinking no necos purely out of neco beam spam players and single elimination if time won't permit for double.

Oh yeah, how do you deal with people neededing to cusomize buttons for controllers/sticks or installing drivers if needed? And what about keyboarders? Am I supposed to laugh at them until they leave?

Customize buttons is fine, you can't force them to play a shitty layout if they have button placements. Don't allow keyboards, you can control both players on one keyboard.

There is no problem with single elim, but if there is enough time double is better.

Exit game and rerun it(make sure you have an easy to find icon on the desktop) to go to controller config.  Don't allow the use of a keyboard.  Provide ps2 converters if you can.  Controllers/sticks are even better, but let people use their own if they want.  If a controller needs special drivers don't let them use it.
