Oh shit, ZAR POSTED!!!
Yeah, I'm "back" so to say. Not to add to the guide however but to announce some (moderately) fantastic news!
Approximately 2mths ago I decided utilize mbcaster to assist an individual who showed great interest in learning the ways of a Magic Gunner. Throughout the wks. he gradually began to progress and show some improvement with each session (despite the "difficulties" mbcaster presents ). Shortly after, another inquired about the basics of Aoko. He didn't seem to be as enthusiastic as my former client but I decided to show him some basics anyway (surprisingly he was familiar with the full bnb).
After observing both of my clients struggles to grasp the character and grow to overcome the trials I threw at them, I soon began to realize how truly effective mbcaster can be as a tutorial tool. Then it hit me...
Zar, you're a lazy fuck and you hate doing periodical write ups but at the same time you want to see other Aoko players succeed, you want to see more Aokos populate and you would also like to discuss Aoko strats to evolve your own gameplay. Why not just do what you're doing now (using IRC and mbcaster) but on a wider scale?! You can communicate live with players, answer their questions on the spot and show them first-hand how to perform beginner through advanced techniques all while avoiding the nuisance of creating reps for combos/strats, encoding them, uploading them, etc. AND not have to type up a damn thing in the thread (so many ).
So with that epiphany comes this...
The Mages-Association on IRC!!!
Yes, the School of Magic Gunners. Here, the experienced and inexperienced alike will be able to:
- Learn the core basics of Aozaki Aoko: BnBs, Movement, Beginnger Okizeme, and more
- Progress to more advanced techniques such as: orb charge toggling, utilizing dash momentum, Advanced Okizeme.
- Exchange strats and advice with n00bs and l33t Aoko players (guest appearances by Jeffrey Manson!? )
- Discuss character match-ups and VS Character strats.
- Become an assistant teacher to aide newcomers.
- Participate in combo exhibition challenges and All-Aoko netplay (sorry) tournaments.
- Discuss story-related topics pertaining to Aozaki Aoko and theorize the meaning behind her mysterious Last Arc (aka MVC2 Globe) .
- Give Zar all of your Aoko Doujins.
- Overwhelm the MB communities with a Legion of Aokos!
Now of course every secret society has its set of "rules" and to not abide by them could lead to disastrous consequences ....Meh, I'll just kick/ban your ass for a while . But seriously though, here's what I expect from the people that decide to pledge allegiance to Aoko-Sensei:
- Have a general interest in learning the "Destructive Arts" (i.e. you play Aoko as your main or first sub)
- Session with other "trainers": Sorry, but you can't just come in the channel and idle for a mth and not expect me to check on your progress. This is serious business here. That goes for you animufag people as well. I have no problem with people fagging it up (no homo) but I expect people to be learning as well so I will ask around.
- No "dissing" other Aoko players in the chan (cus you all suck anyway - j/k ). We will all be there for a common purpose and that is to see your fullest potential as an Aoko user and fap to Aoko doujins - so show love for your Aoko-loving brothers (and sisters?).
- Unless you have some very important Aoko-related news (vids, bugs, strats, etc.), please don't beg or ask for ops (@) in the channel. :'(
- As for lurkers and idlers: Whooboy. Just...don't...do it. I'm a complete Nazi about this shit. Just...don't...do it. Since we all can't be on IRC at the same time I or some other higher up will /query you a warning or ask you to demonstrate your "loyalty to Aoko". No, you don't have to cut off a finger or anything like that. We just want to know if you are learning anything......(Mmmm fascism.)
Frankly, I don't give a fuck what you think about me or my rules. If you don't like them, don't bother showing up or just peace yourself out of the chan (or I most likely will do it for you). The people that are most dedicated to learning will put up with the bullshit and see positive results*. If you show up in the chan expecting to come out a stronger or more knowledgeable Aoko user then respect-knuckles to you - this is the purpose of the chan. I just hope that this focus group will strengthen our communities bond and skill lvl as a whole. See you guys there!!** (...or not) .
~Zar The Biscuit
*disclaimer: results may vary among indviduals -lol-
**The "main" channel is currently setup and a "dummy" channel (which will likely be abandoned by Monday) is open on efnet. If you are interested just post or pm your thoughts, expectations and such then I will contact you with more information regarding the "offisho" channel. I will also be personally hunting down other Aoko players that I know of for an invite to the channel's debut.
PS - I'm an emote whore. 8)
Run it back, RUN IT BAAACK!
As i have promised, the School of Magic Gunners has re-opened and we welcome all Aoko users to join us on our trek to become the most powerful sorcerers on the internets! #Mages-Association was formed to bring Aoko users, lovers. and fanboys from all corners of the globe into one online community. As Blue starts to gain more popularity and generate interest among melty blood players I've realized that sending out private invitations to potential members would become too time consuming and eventually stunt the growth of the Aoko-community. So that being said, I've decide to open the channel to the public for all to join. Keep in mind though that this is an Aoko-based community and those who wish to lurk or express no interest in learning the "Destructive Arts" will be personally interrogated by me and possibly removed from the channel. I'm not saying that I'll boot you if you dont chat every second of the day but I will be looking out for ppl that are just in the channel to be in the channel for mths at a time.
Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble..
Ok, enough of the recap, time to get down to bidness. Heres how to join:
- Grab an IRC client (or use webproxy if youre lazy - mibbit.com)
- Add irc.mizuumi.net to your list of servers
- /join #Mages-Association
If anyone one has questions on how to attain an IRC client, try googling MIRC. A very reliable and user-friendly program (you cant mess this up
). Should you have issues joining the channel just post up and I or possibly a member will assist with those matters.
Happy casting!
