Other notable events:

• Kubo hasn't ceased to amuse and bemuse me for the duration of the qualifiers.
  First he tries to qualify in block D-4 with several different partners; Satoken, Handa, Hyonkell. Then in block D-2 with yet another partner; F.T. All with Sion.
  He didn't even reach the block finals... so he grabs another partner and qualifies with... VSion!? Seriously, what the fuck? I can't tell if that's a typo or not. It was a typo after all, he's using Sion
• LuckyStar(Nero) having a major case of "so close yet so far". At least a half dozen attempts with at least four different partners, finishing second twice and third once; most recently losing out to Kubo/Kou.
• 「一人ごっつ」 タチバナ（さつき） - Tachibana(Satsuki)
  Entering without a partner is one thing, but doing so and reaching the freaking block final and finishing second is another. It's almost as nuts as when Denpa OCVed an entire 3 vs 3 1 tournament at Game41 last year.
• MiruMiruMilky tried it too, finishing second in a prelim.

Yeah, I'm rooting for Leo/Kaimaato too. Great team there with good potential. Leo's Warc is one of the best around and Kaimaato's Kouma is deadly.

Winners only.

Participating arcades are split into blocks based on area, and appear to be organised such that there are 3-5 per block with some exceptions (e.g. G-3, Okinawa, which has only one)

Each arcade holds a preliminary tournament, and the winners qualify for the block final.
The final is held immediately after the last preliminary, and the winning team qualifies for Tougeki.

The format is decided by the individual arcades. Usually round-robin, single-elimination, or a combination thereof depending on the number of entrants. There is no entry limit and as far as I'm aware no seeding.

Any remaining spots are filled by other means (i.e. last-chance qualifiers during the final event)

Then if an area has like 2 to 3 top team players, that sucks. You gotta travel far and join the prelim of another arcade just to stand a chance to qualify.

and yeah, i'm rooting for leo/kaimaato to win this year. and not just because kaimaato plays kouma, they're just the only team of two players i've seen outright beast the shit out of people (GOOD people) on a regular basis
