Ciel's Tech Support / Re: Cant Use numpad
« on: March 03, 2009, 11:11:44 AM »
Because this is exactly what I thought when I began playing and I'm assuming you're having the same problem, when people say numbers for move inputs, they don't actually mean the numpad - just the direction, as if you were using the numpad. 2 is down, 6 is towards (not right), 3 is towards and down, etc. There's no actual button for diagonals - they just mean both buttons together.

I've had to explain that more than once and I have yet to think of a good way to phrase it so I hope I didn't just confuse you more.

The replays saved by MBAC I believe are just a list of the inputs entered - the game recreates the match by literally running the fight again with the exact same attacks done at the exact same time. It's not video, so you can't upload it on youtube or whatever.

I used to record matches, but I don't remember what I used. I think it was Camstudio (not Camtasia Studio - this is more legal free) and Virtualdub for a few quick post-processing-things, and then threw it into MediaCoder to use a codec that's not awful. I don't remember it well enough to give you exact directions, though, and Virtualdub is a bit of a confusing jerk, so you might want to find something a bit more intuitive.

MBAC isn't exactly a complicated game - I think the system specs only require 256 megs of RAM. Which is pretty much nothing.

I wouldn't even consider "can it run MBAC" a factor in buying a computer. Let's put it this way - I just looked at the prices/specs of Laptops these days and when looking at the cheapest laptops I had difficulty trying to find anything with less than 2 gigs.

Checking out processors went similarly.

Chaos is still obviously the same.

Really? They sound completely different.

Maybe less than some of the other characters, but still different enough to sound like different people.

As for "FAMOUS VOICE ACTORS," you guys are assuming I pay attention to this stuff and, uh... I don't.

none of voice actors changed

I've heard conflict on this and I can't be arsed to look it up myself, so I'm just going by the fact that most of the characters just sound WAY too different to be re-records.

people just get older, u know
listen Katsuragi in eva new movie  :slowpoke:

...There's probably about a year gap between the recordings, if you consider the fact that the same voices are used in the MBAC arcade plots. It's not age.

You could make a case if the VAs were around puberty age, but there's some VAs who are obviously pretty old - like Nrvnqsr - and everyone's voices are still different, sooo...

Still calling that they'll announce the next port in Type-Moon Ace vol. 2.

And hoping it will be PC. PS2 is for dorks.

The voice actors changed, so they'd have to dump all the old voice acting.

I'm guessing that they didn't have time to re-record everything or something. It sounds like a bonus they'd add to MBAAPC or something, but who knows?

Psst.

They've been going at a rate of about 1 MB release per year.

2008 was AA, 2007 was AC PC, 2006 was AC PS2, 2005 was AC arcade, 2004 was Re-Act, 2003 was the only year without a release, and 2002 was vanilla. So we'll get a home AA release in 2009 probs.

The real question is: console or PC?

But did they change how H-Moon's Autospark works? As in make it punishable?

...Is it just me, or is having something the player has no control over be punishable a really bad idea?

Besides, losing Heat is punishment enough.

Having a desperate and foolish hope that NA might not be terrible this time, I'm trying to figure out what each of the summons do.

Princess NA is obvious, as is the 22b-causing one. The things I'm confused about is what the roof-raising and the flying ones do (if anything), and why the chargers seem to only do damage half the time.

Isn't Shiki's arc drive unblockable if used in throw range, but blockable like normal if not? Or am I just cracked?

MECH HisuKoha?!

Someone needs to have access to this board and the know-how to rip things because jesus christ there's like 50 potential avatars in this video.
Wha, you mean like this?

I was hoping for just the raw sprites so it would be as clear as possible.

I can wait n+1 years for it to come to PC and figure out a way to rip it from there, though. I'm patient.

that said downloading FURIOUSLY

No one wants to keep depositing 100yen into the machine just to play a joke character!

I would.

Who cares about being competitive? It's fun as hell to make Nasu crash into people and shoot eye lasers all over the place.

Still no NA or NAC footage?

Were they cut or something? I could have sworn they were playable, but the fact that there has been literally nothing but the Miyako video (and one combo video, which could just as easily be one of Satsuki's bosses)...

(in before "OH MY GOD YOU ARE A HORRIBLE PERSON" or some such nonsense)

The problem with Half Moon is that you don't really have control over when you heat activate. If you're low on health and stuck at around 100%, you have to gain 100% meter to heal before you die, which isn't a problem for Crescent. My judgment on Full Moon is resting on the fact that apparently you can't Heat Activate until you're in MAX. If you could do it, then it would see much stronger to me. Right now it looks like you lose out on a lot of healing in Full Moon because of the minimal Circuit control.

200% circuit isn't really uncommon, so you'll be constantly auto-heating and recovering all the red damage during the fight.

If you're low enough that you need heat RIGHT NOW in half-moon, you probably don't have any red damage to recover anyway.

EDIT: Rumor mill's churning and saying MBAA is console-bound for 2009 and PC-bound for 2010. Anyone got any sources?

It really looks like Spark is UNPUNISHABLE.

Screw eating a combo, isn't your entire circuit meter vanishing punishment enough? :V

(Although with the speed of healing you're pretty much done with the heat by the time the animation finishes, unless you want to EX spam or Arc Drive.)

Also WHERE ARE ALL THE NECO VIDEOS. The only one I've seen so far is a Satsuki combo video.

Die, Your kind does not belong here.

I love you too, darling.

Half moon still sucks.  I've seen the autospark punished a few times...

...Also instantly healing all red life immediately on entering autoheat screams noob...

So you're saying there's a massive advantage and a massive disadvantage? Wow! It's almost like they tried to balance it!

I stopped caring about it being the "noob spec" - especially because all it is is automatically going into heat and circuit sparking. The former isn't exactly difficult, and the latter isn't needed by any newbies anyway. It's obviously meant to heat while you're on the offensive, and to make that heat stoppable.

(Still think they probably could have toned down the speed of healing though)

For those of you upset about Ciel throwing things diagonally, one of the new Joybox videos shows that C-Ciel has the old throwing behavior. ...which is pretty much what I figured but forgot to post. Oh well.

(This is probably old news though because everyone's obsessively watching these... I'm behind OH GOD.)

Also, is it just me or is the healing during auto-heat really fast? Like Blood Heat fast? It seems way too strong, but who knows!

Leave your MBAC CD/iso in the drive/mounted when attempting to run the game and try again.

Not sure why (maybe I installed the NoCD crack and forgot about it :psyduck: ) but I never needed the CD before now.

That said, I forgot to mention that I had the CD in the drive the entire time I was goofing around with it.
