Count me in for this. I've been distracted from Melty long enough.

I got pretty invested in restoring a 50 year old pool table, but now that it's almost done, I won't be quite so MIA any more. See you guys soon, hopefully (probably at AI).

I agreed with him
on the post prior to his.
(picked this thread up late)

But also notice,
it was a jab at myself.
I broke the rules too.

Touhou 6-8 really did it for me. I made my current stick because of those games.

Let's add to haiku,

the limerick too,
I wonder what will be said?

I have it, yes. (Freaking happy about this.)

I can't date it, but I've determined that it's actually a Gold Crown I or II. I'm currently working with my brother to restore it. Plan is to sand the paint off of the sides and base, then stain it some nice dark color. We've decided to not attempt the slate leveling and refelt jobs ourselves. (Simonis cloth is too freaking expensive to try to install without any experience whatsoever.) Once we're done making it all pretty, all we'll need to do is call the pros and they'll have it ready to play on within a few hours. Also, I'll probably place my order for the cloth tomorrow, probably 860 in tournament blue.

So yea, lots of work left to do. It pretty much comes down to how fast we can prep, stain, and clear coat the project pieces. After that, it won't take more than a day for the installers to do their thing.

With that said, a short AI trip would be a great distraction from all this work. If anyone's gonna be there tomorrow or next week, post away. I'll come down if I see it in time.

Well, looks like I'll be diving into the pool table reassembly/install tonight. This will be interesting, to say the least. I'll be at the next gathering for sure though.

Great find, but it could have been that much more awesome if you Nero'd people with an Arcana Heart 2 stick instead.

Of course I'm coming. Nothing even had to be said.

But I'll be somewhat late. There's a Brunswick Gold Crown III with my name on it that I have to handle first. (Quite excited about this.)

I'll shoot for noon then, see you guys there.

Around what time are most of you planning on heading out/showing up?

Blah, I was totally there today at ~3pm too. Where are the "I'll probably drop by tonight" announcements when you need them?

Edit: Anyone going tonight? I haven't had a serious session since am6 and Saturday is well, already here.

I can (and 99% of the time, will) make it to any announced weekend gathering.

Here's hoping something comes together some time soon.

I'll be around this week. I have to make up for the vs matches I missed out on this past weekend.

Kohaku / Re: KohakuH Thread (AKA Combo movie thread)

I happen to like going right into a corner loop off of that 6AA combo reset opportunity too, especially against lolis and awkward people like Aoko. (And anyone else against whom I might whiff BE2C.)

I wonder what the others have to say about it.

Just got back home. I can still make it to Xie's with one joystick if people are still down, otherwise, AI is less than 10 minutes away.

Edit: Looks like today fell through. I'll be at AI tonight around 8:30 or so. As for tomorrow, I'll check here and head down when everyone else does.

I'll go wherever the games are. AI is really close to me so it's convenient, but potentially expensive (especially against Xie).

As for equipment, I have only one PS2 stick. (Go Honcam.)
And my monitor is starting to cook the AC adapter again. I'll rip it open and see if its a quick fix, otherwise, my setup isn't happening.
I can still bring my PS2 if someone has a spare display.

How are you doing on setups? Should I pack one up?

Room for one more? I'm available from early to late evening.

Edit: (Forgot to ask for directions too.)

I can pretty much make it to any Friday/Saturday session if you guys will have me.

Get your fill of beating on my H-Kohaku while you can, I'll make her dangerous eventually.

Also, I'll be monitoring the AI thread for when people will be going there, since I live close by.
(Unfortunately, I got wind of tonight's AI thing too late. I'll catch you next time Sal and Scott.)

Tournament Results / Re: American Melty 6 !!
« on: February 22, 2010, 06:40:49 PM »
Yea, to the people I played, thanks for the games. I'll definitely make it out to more gatherings in the future. I just need to grind out as many vs sessions as I can. I'm learning, slowly but surely, one loss at a time.

Until next time, gents.

3 is possible, but a longshot. I'll definitely be there by 3:30. Anyway, I'm enroute.

I'll be there around 8-9PM tonight. Weekend morning obligations require me to go back home, so that's one less person sleeping on the floor. But I'll be back again early Saturday afternoon.

How are we doing on setups? Should I throw one in the trunk, just in case?

Kohaku / Re: KohakuH Thread (AKA Combo movie thread)
« on: February 16, 2010, 12:55:56 AM »
k getting it more, i was trying to confirm the feint before the 2a which i guess was slowing me down, i just gotta always assume the feint is gonna come out (which it does most of the time)

NEW PROBLEM
I can not for the life of me get the midscreen command grab combo, cmd grab, 5(b) delay 5c(1), 2c, 5a whiff 6aa, i can never get the 6aa to hit. I've gotten it to hit once and it was during a match i got so hype i put my stick down. i have never gotten this to hit in training mode unless i was close to the corner. This is the only kohaku combo that has given me trouble like this even with the feint combo i could get it ocassionally.  whats good?

Against which specific character are you having trouble? If it's one of the people mentioned in the previous posts, prepare for loads of frustration because timing is awkward for them. (And since you're whiffing the 6AA, my guess is that it's Roa, Sion, or VSion.)

MissedFRC nailed my problem:
You need to delay between 2C and 5A so that Kohaku slides closer to the opponent. That's how I get it, at least.

That little gem allowed me to up my consistency on those three.

Also, thanks for reminding me, I forgot to +heat him for that advice.
