I agree, but its easier to conform to what people use here than demand they do what is easier for you.

Hitboxes are typically outlining the sprites, right? It's not like I've looked at a 2D fighters code, but that's definitely how it feels. Even if hotboxes are set in code, they still would use the positioning of points in the artwork, I would think. If that's the case it would be outlining the naked character.
As far as learning a new language, C# is ezmode C++. Sure there will be some learning that needs to be done, but in the grand scheme of things it's worth it.
If I were you, I would not even worry about the PS3 at all. Develop it for Windows/X360 using the XNA package(which uses C# not C++ btw) IF it succeeds on those two platforms then you can start thinking about the PS3.
The problem isn't the language in the beginning, it's converting it to PS3's programming code.
Unlocking thread- some of the discussion actually has merit. Even though it's depressing.
I'll admit I was probably using too extreme of examples. Its certainly possible to put 8+ hours into a game a day and hold a fulltime job. Its not like every Japanese person is working 60 hours a week, though that's the stereotype I had in my head.
In response to people like Fatality and mainstream gaming, people like us DON'T GET PAID TO PLAY GAMES unlike those guys. Everyone on this board has either work or school or both that keeps them away from playing MBAC, a game that has yet to be accepted by the majority of the American fighting game scene.
I don't believe the problem lies solely in whether or not players are willing to drive an hour to attend a session. Like I've been saying, it's dedication. Do they ditch classes, midterms, and labs just to play at the arcade? Do they take days off work to play? Are sessions held every single day? How long do said sessions last?
How about people aim for a more attainable goal. Something like being able to play an entire game of MB without dropping a combo... I think that would be a good start.
Im starting to see a LOT of repeats.
Is it true that these are the only good fighting games?
On the whole not being able to "settle" for WoW, I can say this: WoW is like wine, it really is an acquired taste for people. If you can't get into it, you can't get into it, and that's perfectly fine.
As for Melty, tell her this; button mashers wouldn't be able to survive in Melty, unlike in MvC2.
