HeartNana, I Play Games & Nickel City present
Chicago 4 Ultimate in Midwest Arena
Saturday, August 18th

Nickel City
555 Waukegan Road
Northbrook, IL 60062
847-559-8727
www.nickelcitygames.com

We're doing this on short notice, but we don't care. Presenting the sequel to last year's successful Chicago Heart 3 and taking the place of Windy City Showdown Prime 5, it's Chicago 4 Ultimate in Midwest Arena. What makes this different from the past few tournaments at Nickel City is that Nickel City will let us use their room for the entire day! So let's do this big and do this right.

Preliminary Games List
Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition v. 2012 (XBox)
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (XBox)
Persona 4 Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena (PS3)
King of Fighters XIII (PS3)
Soul Calibur V (PS3)
Mortal Kombat 9 (PS3)
Skullgirls (PS3)
Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown (PS3)

More games may be added with enough interest

All tournaments are $10 to enter. There is a venue fee of $10, which is paid upon entering Nickel City.

The Payout: The top 10% of people who enter will be paid. Here's how the payout scale works, along with pot bonuses:

    8-24 entrants - 1st place: 65% of pot, 2nd place: 25%, 3rd place: 10%
    25-40 entrants - 1st: 65% of remaining pot*, 2nd: 25%, 3rd: 10%, 4th: Entry fee + $5 - $25 pot bonus
    41-64 entrants - 1st: 65% of remaining pot*, 2nd: 25%, 3rd: 10%, 4th: Entry fee + $10, 5th/6th: Entry fee + $5 - $75 pot bonus
    65-80 entrants - 1st: 65% of remaining pot*, 2nd: 25%, 3rd: 10%, 4th: Entry fee + $15, 5th/6th: Entry fee + $10, 7th/8th: Entry fee + $5 - $150 pot bonus
    81-128 entrants - 1st: 65% of remaining pot*, 2nd: 25%, 3rd: 10%, 4th: Entry fee + $20, 5th/6th: Entry fee + $15, 7th/8th: Entry fee + $10, 9th-12th: Entry fee + $5 - $225 pot bonus

And so on.

* "Remaining pot" means the pot after all places 4th and lower have been paid out.

Call for Volunteers
We will need a lot of volunteers in order to make this tournament run. First, we need a bunch of people to bring systems and set-ups. We cannot run this tournament without systems and set-ups. Please bring systems if you can!!! We also need people to help out to help out with the duty of running brackets. Please post in the thread if you are willing to volunteer for any of these duties.

General Rules

PS3 Dualshock Wireless controllers are permitted only with a connecting cord and with the understanding that they must remain off when they are not being used. If any irregularities or disputes occur, the players involved should attempt to resolve them among themselves. If they cannot, only then may it be referred to the tournament organizer.

Stream
To be determined

Pizza
For people attending the tournament, Nickel City is offering a special deal: A one-topping slice of pizza and a small fountain drink for just $3!

The Tournament Organizers:

If you have any questions or concerns about the event, please contact one of the tournament organizers.

Let's do this right.

Yeah I'll be there for P4U. If you want to fight me in melty, come and fight me. We can run a side tourney if people want, but last time I said that no one came. I'll do MMs, so bring it.

2
I don't really expect anyone to come out for this that's not already in the area, but if people want, we can run a Melty side tourney. I know there's a bunch of crossover between Skullgirls, guilty gear and the melty community so if people are already coming out, I'll run it (and show up to begin with).

I'm pleased to announce Ultimate Fighting Game Tournament 8 has been booked! Stay tuned for details, and we'll see you all Memorial Day Weekend 2012. (11 months notice?!)

Naptown Clutch 2 - February 25th-26th - Indianapolis, IN
When: Saturday Febuary 25th and Sunday Febuary 26th, 2012. Pre-tournament day Friday the 24th. Doors open on gameday (sat.) at 10am, and tournaments commence at 1pm, with finals, casuals, side tournaments, and anything else on Sunday

Where: Our Tilt Studios Arcade is still our proud venue. Located at the Circle Centre Mall (address: 49 W Maryland St. Suite #101) on the top floor. We will have the run of the arcade, and our tournaments will be showcased in both theater rooms.

Venue Pricing:

$20 for a two-day tournament pass, getting you in your tournaments, and on the tournament floor for both tournament days, Saturday and Sunday, aswell as a gamecard and free roam on Friday if you're up to it.
$12 per day for individual day passes, and of course if you only believe in your skill enough to only play for one day or not stick around for finals, then that's backwards so we obviously suggest paying for both days.
$5 spectator passes are available, which not only gets you sanctioned on the tournament floor for the whole weekend but also gets you a free gamecard to play any of the in house arcade games.

Schedule

Friday Feb. 24th - pre-game-day ... if you happen to be in town a day early you can check out the arcade venue for free, check in and register for your tournaments, or just hang out. I'll be running last minute stuff, and helping setup the stations and stream and whatnot

Saturday Feb. 25th - Game-day!... doors to the arcade open at 10am. Registration goes from then until about 3pm. at 2pm SSF4AE starts. at 3pm MK9, ST, 3S doubles start. pending the end of SF4, MvC3 and KOFXIII will start at or around 6pm. The arcade will close around 11pm.

Sunday Feb. 26th - Finals, BYOC, and Side-game Day. doors once again open at 10am. Registration for any second day game goes from Saturday on until Sunday at 2pm. at 1pm the TILT vs. Arcade Legacy 5v5 will kickoff, followed by the Indy vs. Purdue AE 5v5. once those 2 events are done the finals for each game will begin streaming. Guilty Gear, MK Tag, and SF4 Sudden Death will all start at or around 2pm. And the Mystery Game Gauntlet will begin shortly there after. Melty Blood and VS will run in between whenever there is time. Once the finals and everything is all sewn up, we'll still have the venue space until about 11pm.

TL;DR: They have a meltyblood side tourney and you should come if your nearby so we can fite.

Tournaments and Events / Anime Expo
« on: June 26, 2010, 11:26:38 PM »
If anyone is going to Anime Expo the week before EVO maybe we can play some casuals there or in a hotel room when everything closes... If not we can always find something fun to do if you wanna just meetup. `~`

I'm staying at the Miyako hotel which is 20 minutes away walking from the convention center. There are plenty of nice places to eat outside the hotel. If anyone has a Melty Setup and wants to bring it over that would be cool. Heck you could even stay overnight if you want lol.
