FINALLY. Someone responds. I can't figure out how to make her work better by just watching matches.

Thanks for the tips; naw I'm def not thinking I can get her down pat in a few days, I've been in training for a few weeks after I got back to her and haven't won a single match yet.

Yeah, I need a oki set-up guide if you know what I mean. Sort of some flowcharts to do when I get a KD and some to do when I am full screen and such to start me out. Because I'm pretty frustrated I can't seem to get anywhere on my own.

Guys help me out here.

I started my C Aoko "over from scratch" so to speak because in my earlier matches I was freestyling with her way too much. I think this kept me from a reliable form of of oki, set-ups and pressure and so I went back looked at the wiki as well at the info at the start and some nico vids and I think by going from a new base I can take her higher than before.

That said I messed up some stuff in matches today due to nervousness and it being the first time trying out things (like I usually mean to stop at 6A if its blocked and use its cancelable property to set up orb) and I messed up TKing a few orbs there but other than that I really appreciate it if a good C-Aoko could tear apart what's shown here and give me good tips, as I just don't feel H-Aoko and F totally turns me off for a number of reasons.

Thanks.

If your opponent's poking at every minor gap, then you're better off focusing on staggering pokes for free combos.

See, that's the problem. Besides Tanner most of the time these guys love 2A on wakeup; they always think I'm going for the throw and to be fair - I do throw a lot. But we're meeting up on Wednesday, I'm going to try implementing it in my game again and using some of your set-ups; we'll see how it goes.  :V

Yeah, you're right I should have used EX version over A/B; I had plenty of meter so there is no excuse.  :emo: I will also take care to shorten blockstrings in the corner.

To be honest, I could really never get used to working the command grab into my game; just never felt right to me. Is it absolutely essential? If so, what are some set-ups (I'm talking about outside of combos) that your Akiha uses for it? Thanks for the help BTW

Practice session we had today; starting to work on the small stuff Dakanya was telling me on SRK (more comments in the vid description). I missed out on some damage on the 214B and J.236B by going with j.b, j.c, I keep forgetting I can follow up better with 2C, 5B, or whatever, I'm like, "Gonna miss my CH damage, must jump"! I really need to get out of that habit.

But yeah, feeling a lot more comfortable; I was seriously messing up earlier in our session because I've been practicing my C-mech; that's all the mains I'm sticking with for this game and I cannot understand people that play/alternate every character - just makes them overall weaker imo, but that's just me.

Seems like they're doing a lot to make sure VAkiha isn't too high in the tiers. :mystery: The stuff about C sounds a bit better, but I can't really get too excited about it as we're using the PS2 revision over here so anything different made to CC won't affect us.

How good was VAkiha back in AC? Did she have something really good back then or some kind of stigma to get the untechable C taken away, etc.?

Just curious.

Yeah I looked at those after your previous post, haha. I'm missing out on damage potential; I'm looking forward to fixing that.  :fap:

Oh? No nerf for Warc? I thought that all C-moon had lost some damage compared to AC. Guess not, which is good.

This probably doesn't apply here (which is good) but one of the things I hate about TKing pits is that its easy for me to mess up with normal Akiha and get TK 2C, and vise-versa. I'm guessing VAkiha doesn't have that problem.

Thanks a lot for the responses guys, I've def heard about the pressure game with 5C and been wondering about 6C, I'll work on it. As for the two hitting j.B, I just need to practice; like Akiha j.B, I mess it up more often than not so I let it hit once out of fear of messing up. Now with the C-moon damage nerf from AC, there's no getting past it anymore and I need to get it down; off to practice mode.

That's pretty harsh.

Are there ANY reasons to play C moon? I mean, any?

Is this only for high level match vids? Or can we post our own, here?

A friend picked up F, and I picked up C mech and we're really noob but would be nice to have a place to post and discuss if that's okay.

C-V Akiha is not practical.

Could you elaborate on this? I haven't touched V since a few games back, what makes her C-moon bad in this game?

I'm wrapping my brain around this character as well; here's some casuals I've had recently:

http://www.youtube.com/user/Ergeniz#p/u/7/-zx5HbH6ZF8

http://www.youtube.com/user/Ergeniz#p/u/5/ydV2Ub-T7l4

http://www.youtube.com/user/Ergeniz#p/u/39/aJ5ekCXQ5AU (second match)

Some things I've noticed...

GOOD

* Solid damage output on bnb; its like 4K on Sion/high defense characters, so at least she is okay when she lands a hit. You can increase this slightly with the meter variant by using 623C
* As noted before, movement is better than regular Akiha
* Solid defense modifier
* pits and columns are all air unblockable
* Command grab
* 214C is excellent full screen punisher, comes out very quickly
* 623's are good air defense, better and more easily used than normal Akiha; 623C is one of the best reversals I've seen besides my Ries
* Heat/Blood Heat command grab has tons of invincibility....

BAD

*....But requires you to be point blank for it to connect or it fails completely
* dunno about the obsession with everything being kicks, but her normals suck; I believe she has trouble with faster rushdown characters and she has problems getting pressure because 2A is slow and furthermore, not chainable into itself
* columns are as stated air unblockable, but VERY unsafe on whiff, at certain distances and if the opponent gets around them, miss it and your ass is wide open to retaliation as she sits there FOREVER (no positive frames like normal Akiha 214B  :slowpoke: ), slightly better if you use them in the air however
* 236s are strange, I need more time to get used to them but they seem easier to get over or under; however they do have longer range than normal Akiha; however sucks you can't combo off them, they're unsafe or neutral on block and you can't TK them for oki combos
* jump ins generally suck, especially with characters that have good AA normals and fish for CHs; generally J.A is best and since you CAN chain it multiple times in the air you can combo off this, also okay for ticking, however I see no real cross-up potential and her B is fucking odd in that it points UPWARD

I def see some potential tho and I love Akiha, plus I hear you're not a true MB player until you pick up a Lolicon, so sticking with it.

I picked up AA a few months back and I used to play Red Arc as one of my mains back in ReAct; I busted her out at a tourney meet we had a week or so back and I started playing her again.

I like her new toolset gained in AA, like the very useful (but expensive!) Fouatsait Eit Shul, the air dashes and I'm looking forward to learning her advanced stuff. I haven't seen too much of H and F but really I can't imagine playing my Arc without reverse beat and similar to her AC and ReAct (as well as being a C-moon whore) so I'll stick with C. Here's a casual I recorded today:

Looking forward to tips and criticism.

Recent casuals (C-Ries)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qt50CY-_wAg

These two are from a tourney we had a week or so ago (Warning, I did NOT record these, bad sound quality) :

http://www.youtube.com/user/Ergeniz?feature=mhw4#p/f/3/kDG-RPPPEes
http://www.youtube.com/user/Ergeniz?feature=mhw4#p/f/0/-wOGmCVDIb4 (first match)

About the tourney matches, I clearly wasn't at my best I think; I fucked up on some cross-ups and corner set-ups and I couldn't seem to get off my shield counter move. I think I was nervous; I need to learn to perform at the same level of comfort I do in casuals in a more serious environment.  :V

Pretty new to Ries and AA in general and I just started getting up to speed in the game now that I have a "scene" (2-3 people; wooo) and I play C-Ries. We had some casuals the other day and my friend just picked up H-Nanaya and getting used to C-Wara.

I just discovered from Benny1 that I could stand to improve my combos now that know of super double jump so I'll drill that tommorow; just like to show u guys what I'm working with if that's alright and comments and criticism would be appreciated.

Can't Ren just walk right under orbs since she transforms into that kitty? Sorta avoids them like Ciel would when she dashes.

23
Well, if you say so. But could you post some videos of this in a real match? I still can't get over how I must change it for nearly character in the cast.  :-\

hmm... if you still weren't convinced by psylocke's beautiful post (flamepits suck and as someone playing against akiha with these whiff cancels i would blow my brains out :/) ~ you should read this

Well, yes, since I'm still learning the Melty Blood system I guess I would be considered a scrub. Although I don't appreciate the title when I'm actively researching and attempting to get better at the game. Thanks for the link, I guess.

24
Um, maybe its just me, but don't these seem sort of impractical? Is building meter their only purpose? Why not BnB combo/blockstring and be done with it? They're long, require changing for almost every character and I am not sure I have seen them used that much (I'm probably dead wrong; link me some match vids please). As an Akiha player, is it really important that I learn this? Is it worth the effort?

I know Melty Blood is a deep game, and that's what drew me to it, but really.

There's a lot of reasons to learn these.  Akiha is really meter intensive, as EX Flamepit is a really important part of her corner pressure game, and EX Flameribbons is just a good super in general, so generating meter is always a good thing.  Also, you might have noticed that there's a really annoying property of Akiha's airthrow that makes it so that the distance she lands after airthrowing an opponent is variable.  So sometimes if you do her normal air juggle with airthrow ender on an opponent in corner, she'll land so far away and won't be able to do a meaty on opponent's wakeup.  All of these combos use the 623b ender which does ensure she can do a meaty, or better yet, a TK EX Flamepit right after.

Finally, whenever Akiha wants to do a corner EX flamepit setup, she usually has to sacrifice damage to do so(removing 5[ b ]b combo or just plain comboing into 623b).  With these 2a whiff loops, she can do about the same amount of damage that she would have done had she gone for a normal combo, but end with an EX Flamepit setup on top of that.

Well, if you say so. But could you post some videos of this in a real match? I still can't get over how I must change it for nearly every character in the cast.  :-\

This might be cheap (but since your opponent is cheap anyway), but you can abuse flameribbons (236x) when you see his Len spinning towards you. Rinse and repeat if he still chooses to spam that move repeatedly.

Good idea. I still would love to be able to bunker cancel through him into a bnb, though.  >:D
