I really have no idea about the storyline at all, I'm just hoping the new game has more fanservice.
Like what, an extremely fappable Blue?

Yeah, whatever that is. Fappable things are awesome.

Ahh, I see. Well, somehow in English, 'kara cancel' got thrown into it because it's canceling the beginning frames of the Shield Bunker. Also, in English, it's easier to say Bara Cancel than Baka Cancel, so I guess the name stuck.

I think we should call it a "Baka Cancel" anyways, because it makes more sense, but considering the fact that like 90% of the Melty players are anime fans in some form or another they already know what "Baka" means and will probably reject the idea.

Still, I'm rooting for the official name to be "Baka Cancel".

Awesome.  Heat?  Heat.

~M

What is "Heat". I know some of the Air Force I work with call things "The heat" but I am not sure what they mean. It's usually when I fix something for them. I this an zoomy term?

Kohaku's Magical Garage / Re: Hit/Block frame advantage?

I'll give it to you really brief.

You hit an opponent with 2A. You're now +6 (just making these up, bear with me). This means that you have 6 frames where you opponent is in "hit stun" and cannot block/move/etc. If you do a move that hits within 6 frames then it will connect. Lets say that you cannot chain 2A for the sake of this example. If your 2A has 5 frames to it and hits on the 3rd frame, then there are two frames of startup and it will connect on the third, meaning you could link another 2A. But lets say you didn't want to do a 2A, you wanted to do a 2C, which has 15 frames and hits on the 7th frame. You would not be able to link it in this scenario (we're assuming you cannot chain, which you can in Melty Blood).

Block stun is the same thing, except with blocking. You keep your foe locked in "block stun" instead of "hit stun" meaning you can throw out more moves to keep them locked down.

Basically hit stun/block stun means how long they're locked down, and the "advantage" comes from the fact that you will recover before they do and they will not be able to punish your next attack most likely. The thing about knowing this is that a lot of heavier moves will have a large amount of NEGATIVE frames where you're stuck in the animation and cannot avoid getting hit. Like for instance, if you have a move that puts you at negative frames on block then you're more likely to be hit afterwards.

An example would be a sweep move. Lets say that you 2C someone and you're at -17 now. That gives your opponent 17 frames where they can hit you and you can't get out of it. They could land a big fat combo because you left yourself wide open. However, in Melty you can reverse beat to 5A most times and cut the recovery time to almost nothing, so it's less of a concern in this game than it is in other games.

My examples weren't based on anything in any real game, just arbitrary numbers. I'm sure someone here has a much better knowledge of frame data in MB.

All you should really be concerned about is "what can I throw out that will keep my opponent from moving long enough for me to do something else, and what do I not want to throw out unless I can reverse beat it or cancel it in to something that makes me safe?"

I swear if I've just augmented the irritating sacchin arm of fury...

~M

Eh, I don't like Satsuki much, but it seems like the normal versions of her throws aren't that fast, meaning it would be hard to react to various pokes like that, and she'd have to burn meter to get a grab off that wasn't guaranteed. Besides that, half the time it's probably better to dash in and try to hit them before they recover. This technique seems it's only good to catch your opponent off guard and train them to stop whiffing long range moves or land that bigass AD for massive surprise damage (go go mashed Akiha AD).

Nero's 2C and Kohaku's 5B too.

The AI opponent swung it towards me, I AD'ed, Akiha literally grabbed them and cremated them  :slowpoke:

Anything that sticks out should be grabbable (is that even a real word?) it seems. I'm going to try this out with normal grabs, but for some reason I don't see it having much success. I know you can bunker into a grab, but it doesn't seem to come out as fast as command grab and doesn't have the damage or follow up potential for Kouma, so I never really explored it. Maybe it's good for people who can follow up grabs with awesomeness.

This actually seems to work with most command throws. I'm a Kouma player, and he can do the same thing with his command throw/
ex command throw/Arc Drive. Luckily with him he doesn't have to have meter to do a command grab, so it's much more useful to him.

Try it with the following:

Warachia 5C/2C
Nero 5B/2B (2B has weird hit boxes)
Akiha 2C

Really any long ranged physical poke can be grabbed, it sort of reminds me of Gief in SF2 except you don't take off 25%+ in one throw. I didn't know about the whip, but then again the only thing I play is the computer. However, I've taken to punishing whiffs with 214A~4 with Kouma, which is great if my back is close to the wall because then I get a follow up.

I assume this limb grabbing technique would serve Kouma and WLen the best, since they have extremely fast start up command grabs, but knowing it with Akiha/VAkiha is good too because their arc drives are pretty good, but you'll have to have damn good timing and reflexes to pull it off. You'd probably be better off learning how to Bunker in to the arc, since it has the same limb grabbing effects unless your throw startup is too slow and you get grabbed. I do it with Kouma pretty consistently now, and I don't mind wasting 50% meter to get potentially 3-4k damage and a okizeme (haha, okizeme with Kouma, that's fresh).

See, I agree with you for the most part. Personally, I think we should have turned the place in to a sheet of glass long long ago. But the US is too afraid to actually strongarm people. And talk about wasted tax money: financial aid for foreign countries is the biggest crock of shit ever. LOL LETS THROW 10 BILLION AT PAKISTAN, I'M SURE THEY'LL LOVE US NOW. No thanks. Personally I think the US should withdraw all foreign aid and focus on rebuilding itself from the inside, starting with solving problems like homelessness, etc. There is no reason why any one in the US should be so lazy and unskilled that they can't get a job of some sort.

As for the subject, I think Ann Coulter is entitled to her opinion, and if her opinion is that Jews are imperfect because they're not Christian then so be it. Religion has been a dominating force the entirety of human existence and will continue to be. Wars have been fought and people killed all in the name of religion. It's not going to stop now, and people trying to be all "PC" and respecting others isn't going to change a thing.

I think the problem with America is no one is willing to say what they truly think any more in a public forum. Anonymously you'll see people say the most outlandish things, but they won't say it face to face with another living person. When our free speech is stifled to the point where we cannot say what we feel about things and if we do we end up like Ann is here then that's an America I don't want to live in.

Nappy headed hos.

I've been in Iraq for the last two years.

How many troops have we lost in these two countries since we entered them? I hear all this "BAWWWWWWW LOSING TROOPS DAILY" crap and all I can say is that I personally don't know anyone who has died, and I've been here TWO YEARS. In the entire what, four years we've been in Iraq there have been less than 4000 deaths. That's 1000 deaths a year, give or take. What is the yearly average death toll in YOUR city? This count includes various deaths like vehicle accidents (on and off post) and health stuff (heart attacks, etc). And it encompasses a whole COUNTRY where people are trying to kill you.

Afghanistan has seen about 400 US deaths since 2001. Over half of those have been vehicle accidents and were not related to violence at all.

Do I agree with our tactics and methods? Hell now. We should have carpet bombed the place in my opinion. It's awesome when troops are being fired on but aren't allowed to fire back because of rules of engagement, but if someone decides "Fuck this, I'm going to try and save my ass and prevent others from being killed" he'll get slapped with a court martial and his military career is over. The media focuses on deaths and how the military is "breaking the rules" but this is motherfucking war. They're not following any rules, so why should we recognize rules they aren't and treat detainees with any respect at all? We know they wouldn't do it, they would attempt to use captured soldiers in their propaganda and threat campaigns, beheading them on video. But if we don't feed people we capture the right food and allow them their daily prayers and spoil them then "ONOS WE ARE EVAL".

But this is way off topic. Ann Coulter is a funny lady, and I think it's hilarious that people are coming down on her about this when people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson say some of the most outlandish bullshit ever, but it's okay because they're black. White people can't say or do anything without being called racist or bigots. Let her speak, it's a free society.

Oddly enough, one of my coworkers loves to browse "black" sites. He is particularly fond of "www.blacknews.com". If there was a "www.whitenews.com" it would be shut down for being racist. That is a fact. Regardless of whether they had any racist slant to the site. Us White Anglo Saxon Protestants are so tied down by society today that we can't even make jokes (Don Imus). I say let the woman speak her mind.

deutsch?  more like douche.  maybe if he wasn't such an emofag, coulter wouldn't have to drop the real talk.

the only american heroes left are people like coulter, o'reilly and limbaugh.  they talk the talk and walk the walk.

all the demoCRAPS just whine all day instead of sacking up.  take the war for example.  how are you gonna say the people of Iraq aren't thankful for being freed from an evil dictator?  the soldiers actually want to STAY in Iraq because the people there need the help so bad.  but you liberal jerkoffs want to pull the soldiers out without even knowing what it's like over there.  if you think everything can be solved by singing songs and holding hands, you're WRONG.  saddam wasnt down for that - which is why we went over and K.O.'ed him .. and now we need to FINISH the job, but thx democraps for killing that chance just for the sake of trying to stain the republicans as much as possible.

enough about the war.

coulter's a diva, all y'all haters

Preach it brother. Hitler had the right idea, he just went about it the wrong way. I think Ann would look hot in a Nazi outfit. Everyone here is just so brainwashed by the liberal media and jew controlled society to see that the white man is superior. We should pass an amendment reestablishing slavery so we can actually get some work out of the darkies we have lying around leeching money from welfare.

We should back Ann Coulter in her fight for justice.

You're military too, aren't you?  I've got an itch in my brain that says you are...

~M

No, but like I assume about you from having read your posts, we're in the same part of the world. I've been here about two years straight, with maybe 2-3 months home total. In fact, I just hit the two year mark a few days ago and I am looking forward to getting out. Ensha'allah I will leave before Christmas for good. I've already secured a job stateside and I'll be making a good deal less than I am here.

I am a civilian, feel no love for me. I'm in it for the money, and I'm making buckets.

However, I deal with military all the time, and I grew up on bases as well as my father is a retired O5.

Hit me up, I'd like to get a general geographic location.

I will wager you all use email to communicate. I recommend the following, which I have used to rectify my superiors in the past:

Document.
Document.
Document.

If he is screwing up, make sure it is document in email and other viewable media such as reports. Don't come out and tell his superior directly that he is a failure, simply document and show them that you are bearing the burden and that all the work could have been avoided had they had the experience in the field you have.

Document everything. Every failure, every time they screw up, every time your suggestions are ignored for their own which result in errors, lost time, and broken equipment. Ensure that these are forwarded to someone above him, but never directly state that you think they are in error. Let the documentation show it for you.

At least, this is what I have done in the past.

I don't really know how to begin this.

I recently started playing this "Melty Blood" game. I picked it up after MBAC verB came out. I had played this game a long long time ago but it never really captured my interest then. I think my friends and I called it "Loli Fighters" because when we saw it being played both people were using Ren, and that's pretty much what we based the game on. However, in recent times I have grown bored with the mainstream offerings and have been dabbling in doujin fighters, which led me to Melty Blood. You can thank Xenozip for giving me a hand figuring these games out as best he can when he is over 6000 miles away.

I have a pretty solid SF background, I generally play a lot of ST, SFA2/3, and CvS2. I hate 3S. That game can die in a fire.

I used to live in Richmond, VA and I would play in the NoVA, SoVA, and NC region. As far as majors, I've been to EVO twice, and I actually managed to get past pools in 3S one year. With Remy. Go me. I've attended one NEC where we almost died in a blizzard driving up, and I've made plans to attend several other majors which were all failures on my behalf due to work or money.

Recently I have been out of practice with the rest of the world (pretty much the last two years) due to an extended overseas engagement. That will end soon but my new place of employment will be in West Virginia which is pretty much devoid of any sort of gamer whatsoever. I am thinking about taking up catching greased pigs, playing the banjo, and chasing after my cousins/other family members in a lewd and lascivious manner. Luckily none of my family lives in West Virginia so I think I will be safe on that.

In this "Melty Blood" game I am currently playing (very poorly, I might add) Kouma and White Len. In the near future I hope to attend some of the "C3" events and perhaps get some actual experience versus another living human.
