Archetype: Earth / Re: The Red Moon style secret boss
« on: August 23, 2009, 11:16:00 PM »
Is it actually broken? It seems like that corner "infinite" can only do up to average B&B damage before putting the opponent in a state where he can burst. The last arc hitting for 100% life is nasty but usually when someone lands a last arc it means the round anyway. Overall, Archetype seems to move fast and do a fair amount of damage but, though I haven't unlocked it to test for myself, I haven't seen anything so far that necessarily makes it indisputably stronger than every other character by a significant margin.

Uhhh does constant meter gaining and boss defense modifiers not sound broke to you?

Wasn't aware of either of those. That does sound pretty powerful, and after reading http://mbaa.mizuumi.net/index.php/Archetype:_Earth I'm inclined to think overpowered, but does anyone have actual match experience fighting with/against Archetype? The only videos I've seen have been people against the CPU.

My gathering is going to be on Sunday, December 28th. It will be at my house in Redwood City It will start and 1PM and go until whenever. Probably some ridiculous morning hour. Unless there's an unforeseen issue with the BlazBlue cabinet I'll hold a tournament for that game ($5, double elim, 70/20/10) and people are free to hold their own tournaments for any other game that will be present. If you need my address and/or cell # or have other questions drop me a PM.

Alright everyone, I'm planning on having a large combination LAN party and fighting game gathering sometime between Dec 26 and 30 but I'm going to have to decide on the exact date pretty quick. Please reply to this post with whatever dates are good for you ASAP. I will have chosen a date by the 24th. As for games, you can bring anything you like and I can provide almost any fighter there is. I plan to have at least BB GGAC+, HnK, SCIV, Battle Fantasia on the fighting game end and Starcraft and various FPS games on the LAN end. I spoke with Derrick and it's likely that we will bring his BlazBlue machine to my house for the event. I will need people to bring TVs, their PCs, ethernet hubs and CAT5. I live in Redwood City. PM me if you need my address.

Kugler's all the way in Reno. The events aren't really conflicting since the few NorCal people who were planning on going that far still intend to. Unfortunately, there aren't really any other days I can have it in the foreseeable future.

Saturday, June 28 I'll be having a GG/MB/misc gathering at my house in Redwood City. 11AM to midnight. I'll make sure there's at least 1 big screen and 1 small screen for both MB and GG. Other TVs/comps can be whatever. If you need my address and/or directions PM me. Bring PS2s and laptops and small TVs. I gave away all but one of my working PS2s and I'll probably only have 1 free comp that can reliably run Melty. Please send me a PM or IM or respond to this post if you plan on coming so I have some idea of how many people to expect.

Huh...I guess this is the place to get involved in the local scene. If SJSU stands for San Jose State University then I am a little over 30 miles away in San Carlos, and a little over 25 when I'm in Redwood City,  according to google maps anyways. I are available on weekends mainly, if I am caught before the weekend, because I have school otherwise. And If I'm not caught beforehand I'll be off doing things with mah friends.

Is my being a minor a problem? I assume it isn't, but it's always good to ask questions like that in case the answer is surprising and unfortunate.

I live in Redwood City. How good are you?

Quote from: Akihabara Channel
I was sad to find the sign at the Sega booth that said, “Melty Blood Actress Again presentation canceled because it still needs development.” >.< I think their website changed the release date to 2008 summer too. On the other side was a surprisingly long line waiting for the Purikura machines.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

Hey Dev, if you're so knowledgeable about those shiny-eyed wide-mouthed cartoons why don't you explain this:

20
Best way to mix up is to switch between close and long range pressure and whiff cancel ground blockstrings into dash-throw or dash 2a or mid-range dash 2b or 5c. Always whiff cancel out of 5c before the last hit, usually a good idea to do it after the first hit but occasionally the second so you don't get too predictable. You can do 6c > 2c in a blockstring and it catches people off guard a lot. If you're in the corner combo 2c into 236c 2c 6c etc etc. If you're midscreen you might wanna Nero summon for oki shit after knockdown or try your luck with 5c jbjc jc j421x. Akiha summon is a shitty overhead. It's not really reliable for anything but if your opponent has a giant hitbox and/or you can choreograph their IADs well you can pop it super early and followup with jc jc j421x. If your opponent blocks a jc you can do land > dash throw or land 2b dash throw or land 5b5c whiff cancel [dash throw or dash in 2b etc etc]. Wara has no REAL high/low mixup unless your opponent has hella bad reaction time or doesn't know Akiha summon is an overhead. His mixups are all fakeout shit + occasional throw to scare people out of turtling. Luckily most MB players are impatient as Hell and it usually only takes 1 throw to make them block MUCH less.

AH2 is supposed to be faster and not have retarded IAD combos and that all sounds nice
Now it just needs a character that isn't gay as fuck
