So true, so true, it's a sad day for all Type-moon'ers everywhere. Well, at least I can gladly say I found Melty Blood after whorring Tsukihime and Kagetsu Tohya.  :V
Yay, another individual like me. Preach it, bro. :D I got into Melty LONG after I had whored out all I could from Akiha's route in Tsuki. :V
So that makes three of us.

Melty Blood is not doujin nor has it have anything to do with Touhou  :psyduck:
Yeah, but Melty Blood started off as a doujin game, didn't it?
Yes, it was a doujin game to begin with. It got picked up later.

It used to be looked as as "oh that fighting game thing about Tsukihime"
and was written off as an advertisement sort of

now it's the opposite: no one plays Tsukihime and they play MB.

Ive been playing NOTHING but 3rd Strike for the last 2 years or so, and I actually came across Melty Blood by accident on You Tube and was like "What IS this?!"  Im a huge fan of dojinsoft TouHou titles but the story of this games rise to fame, the community, and GAMEPLAY I witnessed blew my mind.

So I grabbed a copy for PS2 and PC... (1.03 for PC... the latest patched retail)

My first question is: (and youve probably heard this from every noob that walks in here)

Im running this in my MAME Cabinet ... a restored and refurbished MKIII cabinet with two 6 button player setups.  27" square arcade monitor.  But the sticks obviously are patched into keyboard, they arent actually plugin joysticks and I found nowhere in the game to change keyboard settings??

Thanks for your help!

Have you actually played Tsukihime yet?

I'm gonna be rooming with some friends of mine who play melty at the Ala Moana hotel, so they won't mind if you came in for some games, I still need to get full details on the rooms though.
Dio, will be here on Friday?
2p side has been fixed at Brians.
I was told that the Gamer's Room was pretty much a "first come, first serve" basis, soooooo....
Chance for Melty to be at Kawaiikon, but unfortunately we are one stick short so it'll be on pads probably.
Kinda just gonna chuck that idea and play in the rooms only maybe...aha.

Anyway, lookin forward to meeting ya!

There's one problem. MONEY. I'm trying to save up to buy a whole bunch of stuff for college, and I have no idea if I can ever make enough to buy a 130+ ticket, get a cab, get a room at the Ala Moana, then the convention center...I only have 300 dollars to my name right now. I'm out of a job, and I doubt I can get another 200 dollars by friday for the shit I would probably buy at Kawaii Kon. anyway, it's not looking good. I think in the end, I'll just wait until august and I move into UH Manoa to stop by. Sorry. I really fucking wanted to go, but I not only have money problems, I have a bunch of shit to do this weekend.

Well Kawaiikon hasn't sent me back an email regarding whether we can get a spot in the gameroom...so I don't think Melty will be there :(
And...seriously. What the FUCK happened to the 2p side at Brian's. I just bought those sticks.
Guess we gotta hold casuals at kawaiikon in a hotel room, lmao. Oh well, time will tell.

Yeah, I thought it was going to be NEXT weekend. Hm. Well, if you get a hotel room, email me and I'll stop by at any time you want me to. I'm pretty sure I can get there; I'm not 25, of course, so I don't get a rental car. I guess I just need to taxi my way there and stay at the hotel. Fuck, I don't want to spend TOO much, but the expenses are piling up. Setting aside convention spending money, I'm damn glad that a plane ticket to Oahu's cheap nowadays.

Basically, the situation is -

Both of us can play against other people with mbcaster mauve. However many people we host or connect to, for some reason my friend is the only person that I cannot battle all of a sudden using hosting OR connect.

This is recent by the way. This didn't use to happen.

Make sure to watch Haruhi in broadcast order and not chronological order. It's anti-climatic in chronological order.

Then again, it makes no sense if you don't go by the chronological order. O_o You'll be leaping from one subplot to another and back.
YOU DO NOT QUESTION GOD IN MOE SCHOOLGIRL FORM.

I bare fangs at said God in moe schoolgirl form  :V

Beyond the topic, was there really a need to post this in two separate threads?

On topic, perhaps, I don't know, a listing of changes would be a welcome addition beyond a quoted paragraph telling people to open windows update. Though in all honesty I'm on XP so this really does not effect me.
You don't HAVE to open windows update. You can use one of the links in the OP. Also, there are a lot of fixes...
http://www.istartedsomething.com/20071208/vista-sp1-changelog/

    * Adds support for Direct3D® 10.1, an update to Direct3D 10 that extends the API to support new hardware features, enabling 3D application and game developers to make more complete and efficient use of the upcoming generations of graphics hardware.
    * Adds support for exFAT, a new file system supporting larger overall capacity and larger files, which will be used in Flash memory storage and consumer devices.
    * Adds support for creating a single DVD media that boots on PCs with either BIOS or EFI.
    * Enhances support for high density drives by adding new icons and labels that will identify HD-DVD and Blu-ray Drives as high density drives.
    * Enhances the MPEG-2 decoder to support content protection across a user accessible bus on Media Center systems configured with Digital Cable Tuner hardware. This also effectively enables higher levels of hardware decoder acceleration for commercial DVD playback on some hardware.

    * SP1 addresses issues many of the most common causes of crashes and hangs in Windows Vista, as reported by Windows Error Reporting. These include issues relating to Windows Calendar, Windows Media Player, and a number of drivers included with Windows Vista.
    * Improves reliability by preventing data-loss while ejecting NTFS-formatted removable-media.
    * Improves wireless ad-hoc connection (computer-to-computer wireless connections) success rate
    * Improves Windows Vista’s built-in file backup solution to include EFS encrypted files in the backup.
    * Improves the speed of adding and extracting files to and from a compressed (zipped) folder.
    * Significantly improves the speed of moving a directory with many files underneath.

    * Improves performance over Windows Vista’s current performance across the following scenarios:
o 25% faster when copying files locally on the same disk on the same machine
o 45% faster when copying files from a remote non-Windows Vista system to a SP1 system
o 50% faster when copying files from a remote SP1 system to a local SP1 system

    * Improves responsiveness when doing many kinds of file or media manipulations. For example, with Windows Vista today, copying files after deleting a different set of files can make the copy operation take longer than needed. In SP1, the file copy time is the same as if no files were initially deleted.

    * Improves the time to read large images by approximately 50%.

etc, etc....

Akiha's Tea Room / Vista SP1: oh god it's finally here

Quoted from SH/SC
Quote from: kevdude
The day is finally here, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 has been released on Windows Update for current users of all versions of Vista. Here's a place we can discuss the changes and problems.

Stolen from the old thread, this site gives a detailed listing of all the changes SP1 brings with it. And here's more official info from MS themselves.

How to get the update?
Just launch Windows Update via the Control Panel!

Not showing up?
Use one of these links: (make sure your video drivers and whatnot are up to date too)
32-bit
64-bit
(these are official links updated March 18th)

It's not working/showing up fuck you
Windows Update doesn't show the SP1 update if it detects your computer has a possible incompatability. So if you can't find SP1 through WU, and then download the standalone, you have a far greater risk of a problem happening. UPDATE ALL DRIVERS, and clean up your system a bit. Then try again.

Gurren Lagann
Kaiji
Akagi
Busou Renkin
FINISH DENNOU COIL
Seto no Hanayome (wait this out at least until episode 6, it gets funnier and more awesome the later in the show you go)
Berserk (the anime ending is a bit cut-off, but the manga goes on much longer. The anime covers volumes 1-13, when the manga is at volume 32 and still going)
HunterxHunter
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (manga>anime though. This is an adaptation of Part III, which is one of six different stories that make up JJBA)
Potemayo (holy shit this is an awesome comedy sometimes)

Yes it's a really strange list

39
Wtf, a Prince of Persia movie? I'm glad Bruckheimer does this, because if it was Uwe Boll, it would be become such a trash movie.
Though, he looks somewhat like the prince. But he needs a dirtier, more marcant face to fit.
Movie makeup does wonders.

EDIT 2:
But hey, aren't they making that Kara No Kyoukai OVA? Maybe that'll be better. =)

No.

OVAs are direct to video. All SEVEN KnK movies are coming in theaters and ufotable produced, and so far look fucking awesome.
However, the first DVD isn't coming till late May, so we won't get subs till then.

It truly is a matter of "to each their own", though.

Most Japanese Higurashi fans, having played Higurashi themselves, dislike the anime adaptation immensely because of how inferior it is to the source material, apparently, but there isn't much translation of those here, so the anime is thus propped up.

Those of us who've played all 5 routes and read the amazing story that is Tsukihime in visual novel form, along with Kagetsu Tohya, dislike the anime for the same reason - it doesn't give off the same sort of awesomeness as the source material. Considering how many of us actually liked the other routes than Arc, and loved the music and fight scenes very much, to have these things erased from the anime (jesus, the fights were fail. Where's my hundreds of different animals/huge crabs/musclebound light-speed Nero? Where's my blood-sword SHIKI? Where's my Akiha hair attack and her background story? Where were ANY of the background stories of the maids and everyone? What about Sacchin's death at the hands of Shiki? I mean, come on.)

Also, Red Demon God should have somehow gotten in the anime. They left out so much that it's almost criminal.

You're forgetting that they killed any chance of something like a Kagetsu Tohya or Melty Blood anime.

I'm not forgetting it. I thought everyone knew that.

I'm watching too much  :slowpoke:

The most active ones are probably:
  • Hayate no Gotoku!
  • CLANNAD
  • Bamboo Blade
  • True Tears
  • Sky Girls
  • Rosario + Vampire
  • SPICY WOLF (Spice & Wolf)
  • Kimi ga Garuji de Shitsuji ga Ore de
  • H2O ~Footprints in the Sand

Then I got quite the backlog of series to catch up on which includes Gurren-Lagann, Code Geass, Utawarerumono, StrikerS, and many others. Ah the headache just thinking about it  :slowpoke: :slowpoke:

Tsukihime. And the visual novel of it : D
There is no Tsukihime anime.

These links would like a word with you

That isn't a Tsukihime anime. It's more like a studio who decided to adapt the story of Tsukihime and draw everyone with manfaces, dumb down the fights, neglect all the other characters, and have a low budget, like a shitty doujin or something.

A real Tsukihime anime would be acknowledged by Tsukihime fans, as we hate this 100 times worse version of Tsukihime so much we just pretend it doesn't exist.

Del is a pretty good artist, but I'm sure that wasn't the link you mean't to post :psyduck:

I'm done with Tinshi's Juno mix, I just need to get it off my external HDD so I can upload it. I should be able to get it up today, seeing as how I'll be heading over to the house that currently holds my HDD.

But for now, I've completed a new rap mix suited to my tastes, and will be done with another mix I've been working on for the week.

EDIT: http://www.sendspace.com/file/nva0vb The new rap mix melty

EDIT2: My pride and glory, the MBAC capsule remix. I'll post up tracklistings for both these mixes later, I've gotta get ready to go somewhere.

Hey all Holierthanu here. I hail from Phoenix AZ and have been playing melty blood rather casually for the past year. I was more into GG since my local arcade actually had a machine but not many people seemed to play it focusing on the button smashing MVC2. But now ive learned about netplay. Been lurking here for about a month and decided id try to get good enough to go to West Toast someday, so ill probably post asking random questions or giving my limited 2 cents. I main Akiha Tohno though im also trying to learn Warc and Ciel a bit, allthough sion has been catching my eye as well. Youll probably find me also lurking in the MBAC irc channel.

Also if anyone can give me advice on how to lift my 2 ton thumb of the dpad so I stop useing EX flameribbon like a tard in Akihas corner BnB id be all up for it.

we also know each other from #meltanjp, so haha

Awesomeeeee
Another Melty Player in Oahu!
Scene is soooo small here...haha.
I don't know how I'm going to deal with Kawaii-Kon though. Last time was a bit of a mess, because I'm a normal person who suppresses their power level and just tries to enjoy the convention. There's only so many Clouds, Samoan Narutos, and those lanky pimply kids dressed up as Alucard that I can take. I liked Kawaii-Kon because they had those really cool Tsukihime figures. I really hated it when this one filipino kid in front of me lisped that he wanted the Kohaku. Goddamn I wanted to hit him. It was the only one.

Anyway, I hate AMVs, I hate cosplayers (well just the obnoxious and/or ugly and/or generic ones. I like it when some dude makes a great Guts and actually fits in it rather than it being the totally wrong build for that sort of thing), I hate furries, and i hate badly drawn fanart.

That sort of thing was omnipresent during the convention, and it felt really fucking awkward. I'm going to go again (the funniest thing was when someone yelled at me that they liked my Yaranaika shirt) and I'm going to try to not feel like I'm in some alien world.
