I've had a couple people ask to test their caster as of yesterday. They all have been using the udp tunnel, no port forwarding. It seems they could connect yesterday, but cant now. Is the relay server down?

Only reason I'm posting this speculation is because of the timing with the see me in melty site functions also going down. I dont know who runs either of these things, but since the timing is close, I thought they might be related.

Figured I'd post here, just in case it's not intentional, or already known.

Seems that the login and account creation functions have stopped working. No one has said anything in chat for a while too, although the site reports that some ppl are logged in.

I was curious too, so I went and tested it. The only way you are getting CH out of that move is if you got hit during start-up. Its active before the yellow comes out. It's no longer active, and the yellow is still our during recovery, but you aren't CH for being hit out of recovery. I doubt that there is an aerial that is disjointed below enough to beat that.

Edit: Just Ries BEj.C will beat it clean. Wara j.C and H-Mech j.B will beat it with very specific spacing (ie. Right above, almost behind Hime).

I wanted to see the damage dealt in the combos during the credits

Ah yeah. I kept it so the combo counter was visible, so the combos were valid.
The F-Nanaya combo was 5035.
The H-Ryougi combo was 4326.
The F-NAC is unknown since the 623C heals the opponent... I'ma figure out a way to combo that more than once and do 0 damage...

Not sure if its always been there or not, but when I go to training mode with Ryougi on the P2 side, during her idle animation, her face sprite animation detaches from her body.

I'm using .007, been lazy and haven't updated.

I'm making another CMV. I recorded a few combos over the past month or so. I also have some that were submitted too late to make it into my last one.

As always, anyone can submit a combo. Simply record a dummy replay of the combo in game, and send me the dummy replay file with instructions like meter, screen position, CH, opponent char, char color, stage, ect.

It's not set in stone yet, but I think ima use an edited version of the song Is You by D.I.M. Le Castle Vania Remix.

Here are some samples:

Sample 01

Sample 02

Enjoy! I look forward to making another hype Melty CMV (I hope...).

So I finally got around to trying it out and for some reason my AV freaked out pretty bad.

This may or may not be why it keeps getting deleted from file sharing sites.

Any idea what's causing the AV trigger?

The launcher.exe triggers mine. Had to add an exception for it in my AV. I reported it to Avast as a false positive.

@MadSci and Pad users:

I've run into issues with pad directional inputs not being read properly.
For instance, holding 2, and getting a char that crouches, then stands, then crouches, repeat...
It seems to happen at random intervals. Holding 2 and mashing A produces 2A 5AA 2AA 5AAA (just an example).

Adjusted the deadzone from the default of 25000 down to 12500 at 500 intervals, and reproduced the issue at every deadzone setting. Same problem has been reproduced in cccasterv2.1a training mode. So I don't think its a deadzone setting issue.

Anyone have any insight into this? Any other pad users get this issue?

Tim's Bug List:

Esc while hosting no longer exits from hosting back to the main menu.

While hosting, the script that launches the game launches to the game's main settings screen, where I then have to hit 'OKAY' for the game to launch, then the script runs, and i end up in char select.

Game runs at 30-40 fps in netplay during game play and char select.

So, surprisingly, my timeline is filling up. It's all just my own combos so far. If anyone was actually looking to contribute a combo or two, sooner is better. My motivation for doing new combos hasn't run out yet, and I only have about 30 seconds of unaccounted for time left in my time line.

I still have a lot of work to do with transitions and effects and such, but actual combo content is, pretty much complete.

Hope people enjoy it when it's done.  :D

You can see my post in there, and comment on it if you want, though you might have to be a member to do that... not sure.

Got some yes replies so far, the the C-Warc player, Frank the Tank, has yet to replay...

You can call him out your self, or ask me to do it if you cant get access for some reason...

I'll prolly end up being there, since I live in NC and Raleigh is only about 3 hours away.

I haven't been in contact with any of the Raleigh players for a while now, so I cant say for sure if they will play melty, but they will prolly also be there.

I'll ask about it on their facebook and on homingcancel.

Preview 01

I feel like making another one of these. It'll likely come together as i get combo ideas that pan out into actual combos... No set timeline for me. I'm guessing more than 6 months to completion, baring a crap load of people submitting bad ass combos for it... -Wink Wink-

Anyways, if people come up with cool combos that they want in a combo vid, just record a dummy replay and PM it to me, along with instructions like meter, CH, screen position, char color, ect. If I like the combo, I'll include it.  :D

Hopefully I can make an entertaining Melty Vid once again.

For those that are curious, the song I chose to use is called: Hello! by Kirin (EastNewSound).

Hey, I forwarded all my ports, my friend tried to connect to me but we get something called "Connection Unsupported"

This error is usually either because one of you has the wrong version of melty blood, the wrong version of caster, or are trying to connect to each other using the in-game netplay instead of cccaster.

Make sure that you are both running revision 1.4.0 of melty, and that both ccasters are the latest version of 2.0d. If you still cant connect after that, then make sure that both players are using the cccaster program to connect and launch melty, and that one of you is not trying to use the netplay features in melty.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&list=UUrSe7a-r_6vUFKQr-3M04OQ&v=KTAWhI2kNV0#t=696

This is a tutorial vid for using caster for netplay. The time stamp talks about hosting, and connecting to someone who is hosting. Just make sure both ppl are connecting this way.

Hope this helps.

Ciel's Tech Support / Re: MB Input Lag on TVs
« on: May 08, 2014, 07:40:51 PM »
I'm a little confused. So the total lag = input lag + response time?

No one here has suggested a formula for calculating input delay. All that's been said is that the more stuff a monitor does to an image before its displayed, the more time between when you hit a button, to when it happens on screen.

Also, what should be used for MB in such TV monitors, HDMI or VGA? I have a big LG on my room, it lags like hell on VGA, but lags even more on HDMI. However, I've heard that is a problem of the big LGs.

There is no correct answer for this. From my experience, monitors that do well playing melty work well with whatever input you want to use. There may be cases where one works better than the others, but on monitors that already work well with melty, the differences are usually too small to notice. I have used VGA, HDMI, DVI, RCA, and RGB connections on a single monitor for running melty, and had them all work about the same. I've even converted between these and had it work about the same.

My general opinion:
Don't play melty on something that is sold as a TV. Play melty on something that is sold as a computer monitor. This seems like a good starting point. While I have seen some TVs that do well with melty, most all I've tried had huge input delay. Most computer monitors I've tried have pretty much none, or small input delay. What I do if I'm not sure about a monitor, when I can't find reviews, or don't feel like doing research, is I go to a store with my laptop and stick, and ask to hook up to monitors that are on display. When I find one that feels right, I buy it. Sometimes I take a buddy with me to see what he thinks too.

Display lag is way more complicated than just response time. A slow response time on a monitor is bad, but a monitor with a very low display time can still lag like crazy. The display may be scaling and processing the image...

Yeah wasn't trying to go down that rabit hole. From my experience, these problems are more for TVs, and less for monitors meant for computers.

Ciel's Tech Support / Re: MB Input Lag on TVs

The key spec to look for on a monitor that affects input delay is called 'response time'.

Unfortunately, the last time I checked, the method that manufacturers use to measure response time is not standardized. So comparing a monitor with 6ms response time to one with 8ms is kinda meaningless unless they are from the same manufacturer. Sometimes it varies within the manufacturer as well. Basically, whatever way they get the lowest number is the one they use to market with.

Regardless, 2-4ms response time is pretty damn good on every monitor, manufactured by whoever, that I've tried.

For reference: 1 second is 1000ms, Melty runs at 60 frames per second, that's .06 frames per millisecond. 2-4ms response time is about .12 - .24 frames of delay. Again, this really depends on how the manufacturer decided to measure it though.

And to answer the original question, yes that ASUS monitor is very good for Melty. It's pretty much as close to 'lagless' as you will get.
