Thx. Yeah, use the direct download, and watch it at home. ;)

And just in case ppl are wondering. I know there are a couple combos in the credits that use more meter than is usually available. Its the credits, so I told ppl that they could fuck around with unlimited if they wanted to.

Meh, they are all perfectly readable through most of the vid. Mostly just superflashes. I would explain why I did it that way, but most ppl prolly wont put in the effort to read it, if they dont put in the effort to watch the vid well enough to see the credits. But, I kinda knew that it would be the 1st thing ppl commented on...

Thanks again for the compilation Cristu. I do want to mention that DSK Stress won their qualifier at MAXIM Hero in Hokkaidou. Apparently the qualifier they won isn't up on Nico yet (or ever?  :V)

Vids for that one are on Kore Wa... Melty Blood's youtube.

Teams qualified so far. I think there is one more qualifier, and also one the day of, before the actual event. Not 100% on that though.

Just a quick update.

I am still working on the vid.
I procrastinated for like 3 weeks, and got no work done, but I am working on the outro and credits now.
Work is busy, so progress is slow, but I will get this done soon.

What a character guys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-U2bIubOwGY

I saw that support vid a couple weeks ago and then wondered to my self why I never bothered to try using static in combos... A lot of those seem like they are practical.

For those that have submitted combos to me this last week, if I haven't responded to you, I apologize. It's not because I'm ignoring you. Last week was just very busy at work. I had several 12+ hour days.

Anyways, I've used some of the combos submitted last week. I think I have the time line totally done now. I just have to make an outro/credits section for the end.

I think I'm not going to implement fancy transitions, as this would delay release a lot. I've decided to keep it simple: cross fades, very little effects. Just timing and sync (I hope...) and melty combos.

A couple more weeks prolly and I'll have a finished vid to show.  :D

I have the time line filled and synced, more or less. Now I just need to do some editing for transitions and such. Maybe do some time consuming stuff, we'll see.

Thanks to everyone who contributed so far. If anyone else has combos to contribute, there are still one or two combos of mine that I'd like to replace with something else, and I was thinking of having combos playing during the credits portion I'm going to make at the end. So there is still room for combo submissions. ;)

I got a C-Ryougi Combo.

i'll see if i can send some silly vakiha and tohno stuff your way.

I can tell by both your choice of dummies, colors, and stages that you must play each other a lot...

In other news: Another reminder to submit a combo if you want to. Time is running out. Not from any actual limit I put on it, but because I only need about 20-30 seconds worth of footage before I fill up my time line, and can therefore start editing, syncing, ect.

I'll let ppl know when I start editing the footage. Don't let that stop you from submitting though. There are several combos of mine that I would prefer to replace for various reasons (mostly b/c I have a lot of combos from a certain group of chars, or similar combo paths that are slightly different, ect.)

Thanks to those who have already taken the time to submit combos. Your work is appreciated. Hopefully, I can do a minimum of editing, and still produce something entertaining, that doesn't take like months to produce. Think I'm going to scrap my ideas for scoping shit from type-moon related animes for this, since that is very time consuming, but... We'll see.

Thanks for contributing. :D
Although I'm not totally against it, I'd prefer it if the combos submitted adhered to the game mechanics. So combos that don't require unlimited meter to work. Please do keep submitting combos if you have more ideas. It would help me out a lot.

Although I'm not sure until i see a screen shot or something, it sounds like the game is asking you to register the cd-key and then takes you to the web site to do so. If you have a legit copy of the game, this is normal behavior. Otherwise, you may be patching the game incorrectly. Try asking in the mizuumi.net irc in #mbaa, if you cant resolve the issue on the forums here.

Just a reminder to those who thought they might contribute to not forget to actually contribute. :P

I'm at a point where I don't really have any more combo ideas to try. Currently, i have about 2 min of footage, I need around 4:18 to fill out the song i chose. It makes no since for me to start syncing to music i might not have enough footage to fill. As it stands now, 1/2 is h-vshi, and 1/4 is f-warc... seeing only 2 chars for the most part does not make for a hype cmv... :-\

So just a reminder. Anyone can participate. I'm in a holding pattern until i have more footage. I'll prolly wait a couple months, and issue out reminders. Then I'll have to change my music choice to something shorter.

Thanks to those who have already contributed. I want moar plz...

Kouma Kishima / Re: Kishima Kouma current code changes (1.07)
« on: February 20, 2014, 02:34:56 PM »
Also, some sandoori stuff. For C-Kouma, once again.

First of all, good job on those. :)
Just want to clarify something to avoid confusion.

While your definition of sandouri is okay, I have a problem with its use here. In melty, usually the term refers to a specific kind of 3-way mix-up executed a specific way, that allows you to attack 3 specific points. I guess that what I mean is that a sandouri is a 3-way mix-up, but not all 3-way mix-ups are sandouri.

In your example, Kouma uses super jump to set up the mix-up. Sandouri set-ups are usually different, but not always. It depends on the situation and the char. They do always involve putting the char in a position where they can attack the opponent same side high, cross up low, & (true) cross-up high. Cross up high is the attack point that is called attacking sandouri.

So the set-up is typically executed with:
Dash > Neutral Jump > Return to Neutral > Float Back > (Mix-Up Option)
6A+B > j(8). > j(5). > j[4]. > (Mix-Up Option)
How this works to set up the mix-up options is that the neutral jump maintains dash momentum, so while you input neutral jump, you also are drifting forward to the P2 side of the opponent facing the wrong way. Return to neutral and then holding 4 will influence your momentum farther, in this case stopping your forward momentum from the dash input. You are left floating above the opponent on the P2 side facing the wrong way. This is just one set-up example. Others exist, but they tent to be char specific, and sometimes, situational. This example is the one that I see Kouma players go for the most often though.

Mix-Up Options are executed with:
Air Back Dash > Meaty Aerial High | for same side high.
j.4A+B > j.X
Land > Meaty Low Normal | for cross up low.
Land > 5/2X (whatever hits low)
Forward Double Jump > Instant Air Back Dash > Meaty(ish) Aerial High | for cross up high that must be blocked correctly; A true cross up.
This can be executed many ways, but the most common way is:
dj(7).* > j.4A+B > j.X
*Note that you are on the P2 side, but facing the wrong way still. So the dj(7). will correct your facing and then likely move you back to the P1 side of the opponent facing the wrong way. Once you dj. to correct facing, your inputs change to P2 perspective. Basically the controls are reversed, and the notation reflects this change. This is just general format, there may be char specific nuances.

Anyways, that's what I think a sandouri is. Your example may be a 3-way mix-up, but it is not a sandouri mix-up. If I have it wrong, though, let me know. This is not something that was ever explained to me the way I just did. It's something I learned by watching it happen in game and listening to JP commentary.

Never had to use a forwarding service before on amazon.jp, only on jp ebay and yahoo auctions. But, like you, it's been years since I've used them. Shipping alone will cost $30, the service charges are usually a minimum + % of item's cost. They are just barely competitive with retail mark-ups for imported goods in the US.

Well, thanks for the info anyways. I was hoping that ppl knew sites that sell anime that weren't the standard amazon/ebay stuff i already checked.

You have a deadline for obtaining replays?

No deadline. It will likely take me a while to complete this project. At your convenience sir, send em my way. It'll be done when it's done.

On a side note, I'm trying to get legit copies of Carnival Phantasm. I've seen a couple episodes, and I know that there are a couple scenes I'd like to use. If anyone knows a place to get them, let me know. I really don't wana rip from a shitty source, like youtube, or some other streaming service, or buy the obvious bootleg DVD box sets from Malaysia. A quality source makes a quality edit. ;)

I'm planning to make a legit combo movie for my next project instead of the normal character tutorials I usually make.

Here is a sample I put together: http://youtu.be/_5RAiBYhL4I

I don't think I know enough combos with enough character variety to make this. I also think that getting people involved could produce interesting results, so I'm asking for help.

If you have a combo that you think is CMV worthy, record a replay dummy in game, and PM me the replay file, so I can record and edit it. The combos can be anything that you think is cool, that is not something you see every day in a match vid. I also might need other info like screen positioning, or a preferred opponent character, or stage, or starting meter amount, ect.

If you wish to submit a combo, don't post it in here. That defeats the purpose of the combo video... PM the dummy replay file to me. If you don't know how to use training mode to record dummy replays, or don't know where they are saved, just ask in here, and I'll walk you through it.

The song is a modified version of Into The Light by Gareth Emery Feat Mark Frisch -  (Alex M.O.R.P.H. Remix). The original song is a little too long for what I want, but I found a version that someone else already edited down that works for what I want. So, I'm going to use it.

Ultimately, decisions on what is included and how it's edited are mine to make.

Bottom line is that I'm going to do this, and it'll get done when it's done. I'll likely scrutinize every frame, multiple times before release. I have a job that consumes my time, so I will be working on this in my spare time. I am not a professional editor, but I've been doing things like this for a while now.

If you have suggestions for the sample footage I posted above, please share. I'm not really interested in suggestions about the combo content, but things like the sound, effects, resolution, aspect ratio, music, footage quality, ect.

Anyways, if you are hype for a combo movie, then please participate by submitting a combo!

Thanks,

Tim, you edit way too good for youtube, why don't you encode in 60 fps and post in nicovideo?

Well, I agree that youtube quality is kinda meh. I do record, edit, and encode at 60fps, and have a nico account. I'll think about it, especially for future projects.

got it working on mac, now im just having ONE netplay issue. sometimes when the game loads and it goes to player v player it just has a black screen?

If you are talking about using CCCaster, that happens to everyone. Sometimes caster bugs out and fails to load the char select screen. Especially if you are typing or clicking while the script to launch melty starts, this will happen. Rehosting and rejoining usually fixes the problem, but I've had it persist for a few trys sometimes. Not a MAC issue I think.

I've been meaning to make on for a while. I just never got around to it. I can't do the tk mystic eye combos though. Shit's insane.

Inso, you can go ahead and make one. I was actually planning on a basic H-Warc vid for my next project. No harm in being more than one.

If you want to do less work, send me some dummy recording files of stuff you think is cool. I'll record them and include it in my project. ;)

Note: A finished project from me is prolly like a month from now at least. :bricks:

Exploiting the fact that Vinn uploaded those matches without even checking with me, anyone willing to give me advice on H-warc? (Tim *wink wink*) Her j.B is really bodying me, it whiffs so much I'm gettin AA'd by 2A

If you repost the link and request in the H-Warc thread, I'll reply there. I don't want to post it here, and I don't want to just post my response there with no context.
