Melty Blood Auditorium / Melty Bread Logo: Where can I get the bread? =p
« on: December 11, 2007, 01:11:14 PM »
Yeah, so as a ways of contributing a bit to the site, I was thinking along the lines of making a few site-themed wallpapers, possibly including fanart if people's willing to share, so I wanted to ask this.

Does anyone here (Arlieth or the designers or whoever) have a high-resolution copy of the bread used in the Melty Bread logo? If so, is it possible that I get it, so I can make a few official site wallpapers?

Thanks very much in advance for your time. :)

[awesome wall of text of awesomeness]
Fantastic analysis. I didn't even know of half the shit Satoken did there. :O Seems my holidays will be filled with delicious V.Akiha training. :D

+HEAT for you. :)

I'd venture a guess at Shiki's, though I haven't really tested.

Len / I play the Akihas, the Shikis, and Ciel, and wanna learn Len. Help?
« on: December 09, 2007, 04:33:18 AM »
My style is pretty basic, and there's a consistent combo that I've learned works with most characters (notice I said most: some got so horribly butchered in the combos department, like Sacchin and Sion, and Arc to a lesser extent, that it's undoable with them), which is my basic form of attack (though of course, mixing it up is the name of the game, and I always try to do some other stuff in between). The combo goes, usually, 5A, 5A, 2A, 2A, 2B, 2C, 5C, [4C (depending on the character),] j.A, 5A, 5B/C, d.jA, 5B, air throw (sometimes 2C with Akiha or 5C with V.Akiha).

The main problem with this combo when learning new characters is, it assumes the character has:
1. a generic sweep on the 2C command;
2. a generic, non-lifting/non-pushing (grrr Arc) strong attack on the 5C immediately afterwards; and
3. ability to combo somewhat correctly in midair.

Some of them don't (examples being Sion, who has her sweep in 2B, and Sacchin, who can't air combo if her life depended on it), thus making it difficult to learn easily. Normal Len, to some extent, also has this problem, as her sweep is in 2B, and her 5C attack is non-standard, and she's been giving me one hell of a battle to learn to play. Can anybody recommend combos and techs for me to try, so I can learn to play her somewhat decently? Originally, I forced myself to learn to play Akiha and V.Akiha because of (silly, I know) emotional attachment to her after playing Tsukihime, both Shikis were pretty basic and were just there (:P), and Ciel just was a fantastically mobile character (as much as I hated her route in the game). Now the same thing that happened with Akiha happened with Len, after playing Kagetsu Tohya, and here I am, trying to get her style down.

Help, please? :'(

Ciel's Tech Support / Re: Can I run Melty Blood in Linux?

As I said before, I read in Wine's compatibility database that Melty Blood can be run with little to no problems. You should go check the DB yourself.

Name the character(s) you play, and I can tell you what unblockable moves they have.
Both Shikis, both Akihas, Ciel and Len. :P

Then what are we waiting for? Want me to go create the thread and then you can sticky it later? :P

Let's not trick ourselves into thinking otherwise: this is going to get either a console or PC port eventually. Maybe sooner, maybe later, but I can bet my head it will.

Personally, I'll be praying for a PC port. :P

o wow i don't have that top option like yours. did you dl the center from ATI site?? i only have the 2 bottom options and yeah... i don't understand why its like that. but thanks for the input guys
No, this is the exact Catalyst Control Center that came with my laptop, an Acer Aspire 5672.

That's how my Catalyst looks, and how I configured it to keep aspect ratio while scaling the image to max possible size on the screen.

Shiki Nanaya / Re: when is a good time to use nanaya's AD/AAD?
« on: December 06, 2007, 06:11:44 AM »
Unno, I'd have to argue with that. 7ya's AD/AAD is very slow, and a really good player will either block/dodge out of it. But, I do see what you're saying, it'd work with AAD, but the AD, not so much.
Point taken about the AD, but if Nanaya's AAD is unblockable like Shiki's (haven't checked lately), then the opportunities run high to pull it off after a blockstring, or as an aerial counter (supposing you get your distance and timing right).

And people will tend to avoid you if Nanaya's in blood heat, they know what could be coming, so perhaps its just better to go for a good BnB instead?
Fair enough, though you can also do what I do and bluff every now and then, wasting the Blood Heat in EX moves or trying to do a Last Arc. :P Keeping it varied keeps the opponent guessing. :)

Shiki Nanaya / Re: when is a good time to use nanaya's AD/AAD?
« on: December 05, 2007, 08:09:46 AM »
Another good time to use it: Right after a blockstring. Most people will be usually waiting for you to finish your string to either counter or get out of the way, and if your timing is accurate enough, you'll nail them and they won't have a chance to do either. :)

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: Fullscreen on monitor 2?
« on: December 04, 2007, 07:03:20 PM »
What kind of card do you have?  That'll tell us best how to help you set it up.  I have fullscreen on dual monitor myself, but on screen 2 the opening video doesn't always show up properly.

~M
O_O HOW DID YOU DO THAT? I have a 128MB Mobility Radeon X1400 (laptop). How can I set it up so I can use fullscreen in the secondary screen? o_O

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: Fullscreen on monitor 2?

I'm not sure, but I don't think it's possible. You also have the option of running the game in a VM and running the VM fullscreen in your secondary monitor, but I dunno if you wanna go around all the trouble.

I know. :P I made this thread kind of as a joke, since I know there are probably no players around my area, except the guys I've introduced the game to. :P

Been posting here for a while, but I haven't introduced myself properly.

Name's DZ, and, as my name implies, I'm latino (specifically, from Dominican Republic). I'm a relatively decent MBAC player, long-time MegaMan fan, recent convert to the Type-Moon religion, hopeless romantic, wannabe game developer in training, C# programmer, PHP coder, short tale writer, mildly decent Photoshop user, on-and-off web designer, avid anime fan, picky manga reader, and a bunch of other stuff I'd take too much time to mention so I won't name them here. :P

Currently, my focuses are finishing my career studies in software engineering and getting a (decent) job (though, as things are now, I'd apply for ANYTHING -- staying at home doing absolutely NOTHING tends to make you dumber by the day).

Speaking of randomness, seeing as this thread seems relatively active, I have two small questions: Are signature images disabled here? And why can't I use an offsite-linked avatar without the forum uploading it to its database? That kinda kills the point of my magical PHP-powered rotating avatar collection... ;_;

Shit... Only 3 Canadians? That stinks.
At least you have three people. In my country, only around five other people or so play MBAC, and they're all button-mashing n00bs. ;_;

Jesus Christ, I should have known about this sooner. I have an entire army of people that would have voted for the HisuKoha combo.

And as much as I like Haruhi, Mikuru getting a better place than Siesta? Unforgivable. Simply unforgivable.

Nothing that can't be done with a few environment-enhancing tools out there. Besides, if you're a developer in training (like me) Vista is probably your worst nightmare three times over. Just making Eclipse or Visual Studio work like they're supposed to took me at the very least a good day or two in my friend's new 64bit 4GB DDR2 box, loaded with Vista Ultimate.

Ugh.

Jesus freaking Christ, there's people here voluntarily using Vista?

You people are my heroes. Given Vista's status as WinME Part 2, I wouldn't install it even if I was offered a million bucks...

...Though on second though, maybe I would, then I'd ditch that laptop and buy a super-powered one to install XP on. :P

Shiki Nanaya / Re: when is a good time to use nanaya's AD/AAD?
« on: November 30, 2007, 07:43:08 AM »
I've found that when people block Shiki's 236A or 236B on the ground, most of the time they tend to try and counter immediately after; that's a prime time to use either the AD or the AAD, since it makes you invincible to their attack and is guaranteed to raep 'em during their whiff.
