Akiha Tohno / Re: MBAA Akiha

Watching cAkiha's overhead come out slower than MBAC makes me sad, but great movie!
I'm not sure how to read the frame data from the mook. 発生 17. Does that mean it is active on the 17th frame? If so, then C-Akiha's j.2C startup should be the same. Otherwise, if it is active on the 18th frame, it would be 1f slower. Also if the mook means it is active on the frame it lists, then her A attacks are actually 1f faster now.
It's just 1f slower.

So is there a difference between EX and normal shield? If it was discussed before, i missed it.  :emo:

The same thing as in MBAC: EX Shield can be normal cancelled and special cancelled, Shield can only be special cancelled. Auto shield counter/manual shield counter for Full are both considered specials, so those can be done out of Shield. You can only 5D 5A for example if you get an EX Shield. That's why everyone says getting normal Shields in MBAC are suicide, because 5DA is a really common antiair.

Oh, and in MBAA, EX Shields don't weaken your guard bar. Shields do even if you land the shield. Whiff Shields weaken it even more.

Seems like for Half Moon you can delay the auto-shield counter.
That was just a DP. You can't "delay" auto-shield counter. It won't counter projectiles, and anything caught in multihit autoshield will still get multihit shielded, but everything else gets autocountered as soon as the shield ends.

I should've been more specific. What I meant to say was how can they block the knife on the ground, but yet get hit by the shadow still?

We have a framedata topic... j/k I know it's a bitch to try to figure out what move is what and it took me a bit of pain myself to look it up.

That attack is retarded. I never would have known if I didn't look it up, but the knife can be blocked in all positions, the wave hits low. It can't be airblocked or blocked high. The knife itself is a 1000 damage knife, the wave does 100 damage, no red or guard damage on block, 17f blockstun like normal, and holds the opponent in a stun state on hit.

Wow what the fuck that sounds like some Eddie unblockable shit right there.

:blah:
Thanks, didn't know a lot of that. Since Crescent Moon is the only one with Ex Shield it's the only one with Last Arc right?
No. Full Moon can Last Arc. You have to shield with the same timing as EX Shield. It just doesn't actually say "EX Shield" but rather "Shield" on the screen when you do it.

Well I figured it's air unblockable, but what I don't get is that I see players block the knife and yet get hit by the shadow.
Multipart move. The knife itself is airblockable but not the shadow. You'll block if it it's thrown high enough and you block it high in the air, or if it's thrown point blank and then the knife goes down and the wave misses you. Roa's DP is also this way. The first few hits can be airblocked but if you block them the last hit is air unblockable and will hit you anyways.

wtf happened there?

4:40-4:43

Nanaya's like "What my banana twin can do, I can do better!"

Also, regarding the first post, it's said that in Half Moon you won't reach Heat while you're being combo'd. If that's the case, you won't spark while you're being combo'd either but that has happened a lot of times so I think this statement is incorrect.

One more random thing. In MBAC, if you fastfall, it doesn't show as a Reverse Beat but when you go to practice mode and turn Attack Display on, you'll see that the Reverse Penalty value goes up. Does this still apply in MBAA? If so, is fastfall in Full Moon an exception since you can't rebeat and all?

You can activate, or you might not. It depends on how many frames are between each hit. I believe you don't heat activate if there's a very small gap between one hit and the next. With a larger gap you'll activate and the next hit causes a spark. No idea about fastfall.

What's next, Touhou Fortress 2?

EDIT: If that happens, Aya would be the perfect Scout.  :V
It has actually been talked about a lot.

Wow, even if it's against V Akiha, 7.7k damage combo at 11:48  :fap:
She could always do almost that much damage with 236C. No one uses the combo because unless you spend 200% meter you don't get both damage and oki. It's better in MBAA because her meterless bnb is actually tolerable now and it builds more meter than she used to.

Anywho, to be serious, there's not really much we can talk 'bout right now, only throw theories and idea's around. I mean, until more information/video's/etc. get's released there's not really anything else left to discuss 'bout it, as even arcade related info will be (quite possibly) obsolete by the time the port get's released.  :psyduck:
Or you know we could always go back to when Mbread was dead and have no one post anything.

Warc meterless bnb without a jump in is 5k on Vakiha. Miyako and Sacchin both get 6400 off of j.C with 100% meter. Sacchin also does almost 9000 damage off a j.C in blood heat, but that doesn't really matter.

Her throw at the end of her BnB solely does 600 dmg. What? :slowpoke:

They have give or take three months to balance it. Chill.

And even if they manage to dick THAT up, there's always the PC version which will inevitably come out 1-2 years later for those who still care enough about balance. So don't worry about damage ratio's too much. Absolute worst case scenario, we have a character that reaches the MBAC Ciel level. We've dealt with HER all this time and lived, Azaka can't possibly be as bad.
You mean worst case scenario we have MBAA vanilla Ciel for a few months. Game freezing infinites yay.

The Mage's Association is mostly dead now. Everyone quit MBAC and are waiting for MBAA. Also it dies every time Zar goes into hibernation regardless.

Does the twirly thing in full have and invincibility? Or is it just a Slayer-esque hitbox? I see it seem to go through a lot of stuff.
Also does F retain the taunt 22D? Because it might be useful to hide inside icetraps.
623C has superarmor.

139
Man, all this fanservice and animu nonsense is losing me. Just give me a good game with solid character mechanics already.
Thank you

140
Yep. Also, Neco-Mech-Team right and Amber-Mech-Team left.

Edit: I wonder. Isn't the left side with the "good" characters and the right one with "bad"? Why is Kohaku left?
Kohaku is right, Hisui is left.

I'm wondering why NA isn't mirror of NAC personally.

It doesn't matter how much inv it has when it comes out slower so it can get blocked.

If you're playing Half you shouldn't have much problem. Half bunker is good.

If you're playing Full you can shield counter or Bees.

If you're playing either Crescent or Full then you can EX Guard to keep yourself from getting guard broken. The blockstring is only tight as long as Maids have meter.

Do you have a video of a Nero bunkering out of that string? I'd like to see where you get this conviction from, since you make it seem to be the best option for getting out safely.
Other players bunker out. It's the best way usually. There might be points where you can dp, but Nero doesn't have one.

Does anybody know what H-Sacchin bnbs are?  I've seen people trying all sorts of different stuff but I'm not really sure if a consensus has been reached for what you're supposed to do.
I still use 2A 5B 2C 3C 214A j.BC j.BC j.throw or has there been a new bnb that people do now? I know I've seen a j.B land rejump combo but don't know it.

I saw a F Akiha do Fire Orb oki in the corner and then do AD as the opponent got up. I assume you can do it so that if they don't jump the AD will grab them and if they jump the Orb guard breaks and you get a few thousand damage with the AD.

Yeah, that seems like a pretty common F-Akiha setup. I've yet to see it fail, too.  :o

Take this as you will. Mr. Protoprae is playing Full Moon.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsVy2tgQU-o

EDIT: He's definitely taking advantage of the one thing F really has over other styles, which is 623 series as strong antiair and a dp that will actually work on wakeup that Hisui has never had.

Kohaku's Video Room / Re: BANANA SHIKI - THE LEGEND
« on: May 18, 2009, 11:53:01 AM »
I played F Shiki. 236 is really good, but he's not a better Nanaya at all. He has no air to ground like at all, so you have to shield certain antiairs. His j.B has less downwards reach than Nero j.A, and that's the only aerial he has that even remotely goes downwards. Tiger Knee is awesome though.

Kohaku's Magical Garage / Re: MBAA Guard Bar
« on: May 18, 2009, 11:46:43 AM »
there will ever be strategies to guard break the opponent?
F Wara fireballs are meant to guard break, F Maids have mostly airtight constant blockstring that needs to be bunkered or you have to take a hit to get out.

Quote
i also noticed something strange (H-Moon) that it might be not true: when you shield, but your shield doesn't collide with an hit, the guard bar becomes of another color, and weaker too
Dodging weakens guard bar color, and shielding. EX Shielding does not. Half Moon/Full Moon can never EX Shield so when they shield it will always weaken their guard bar.

there already is Van, Fmaids and Fwarc are testament to that.

Whiff Shields and Whiff Dodges both reduce the level of your guard bar.
Doesn't need to be whiff. All Dodges and normal Shields reduce guard bar. If you actually land a shield it might reduce less guard bar than if you whiff it though.

Is it only whiff shields?  At one point I saw C form shield successfully and it still went down.  Maybe because they only got a normal shield instead of an EX shield, but I don't really remember if they got norm or ex vers.  I didn't realize that evading lowers it as well.

Also it seems that guard break lasts about a full second.
That would be normal. C/F Guard bar also weakens much slower than H. Two airdodges in Half and it already starts turning red. I think if Half does one dodge and one shield it instantly turns bright red. You can airdodge all day with Crescent and your guard bar will just go gray/blue.

Anyone know if the color of you guard bar has any effect on the stun time?
I don't think so. Guard Break might also not be a set time and could be like Stun in most games where rotation the stick reduces the time.
