40$ for that ps2 would be PERFECT actually. Ill definetely be stopping by and hanging out, I think i can exhibit basic social skills, respect, and restraint haha.

EDIT: I cant buy the ps2 until like next week, I'm young and have to wait long periods of time before receiving any money  >:(

Since my plans for the weekend are cancelled, I can show up tomorrow night. I don't mind if we run ranbats tomorrow, but Dippy will be missing since he's out of town. If there's a large enough showing and enough people are ok with it, then I guess it should happen. I don't mind if there is or isn't an entry fee, 25-50 cents or so is fine. As for the format, round robin sounds good so that everyone plays each other. I assume that the format will be 2/3 matches? If this goes down, consider this the March ranbat. The April 3rd ranbat should be good to go as well since Dippy will be back in town. Stream? y/n?

Wed be better off recording matches if possible (yes stream records shit but id rather have quality :V). Sp00ky will be running a stream for On Blast!? and that'll be drawing all the viewers anyways.

Oh right, I forgot that ON BLAST was tomorrow. :V Well as long as stuff gets recorded, that's ok too. It's always nice to go back and review matches.

Dude, I just had an AWESOME idea.

Everyone but top 3 in ranbat has to bring a snack or drink or something to the next hosting session.  Like, a 2-liter of cola, or a bag of chips or something.

Basically, it's a potluck where the losers have to bring something.

How does that sound? :V

EDIT:
This would of course, happen each time the ranbat goes down.  Keeping track of points and such would be nice too.  I think it would also be a good way to keep people playing hard, and also encouraging people to come back and practice more too, if people are bringing snacks on at least a semi-consistent basis.

While it seems like a pretty nice idea, I'm just thinking of... well, winning doesn't matter as much as not losing! So winning a lot is kind of the same as winning a little. And I'm not saying this because I foolishly think I will most definitely win the ranbat, I'm just thinking of personal experience in tournaments... at 3-2, you will curse yourself and say might have had a chance to go farther under a different bracket or something. However, under that rewards system, 3-2 would mean you have a true passing grade with no financial negativity (like losing an entry fee).

I'm still in favor of that idea since it helps everyone! Just had to throw that bit of emotional stuff in there.

EDIT-Sorry about AIM, Sam. I got a call from Mari, then went downstairs to play Tempered, and I forgot to answer :< I feel kinda bad. Sorry.

NPs.  I mostly wanna encourage people to practice, and learn as much as they can while keeping discouragement to a low.  Small money entries would pretty much accomplish the same thing really, but if you can make something sound a little fresh in some way or another, it'll be easier to get people to join in.  It's hard to say no when you say "No entry fee", and it'll just sound goofy and fun when you say "losers bring punch and pie".

Either way, I think we know who'll be there for the comp, and who's gonna be there for fun.

blargh. Might be a little late. Family dinner was thrown at me last minute. My ETA is 8-9. If that's too late and everyone is ready to do the ranbat sooner, then don't let me hold things up. :-\

No. Ranbats are never a weekly affair. There will be a 2-3 week break between ranbats. During the off weeks, we will pair up and practice like usual, but let's try to have some of the more experienced players really help the lower performers in understanding the holes in their game. Just playing sometimes isn't enough.

I think it would be best if we paired off based on the previous ranbat's rankings,  IE 1st place helps last place, 2nd helps second to last, etc. until we're all paired off.  Basically, the people who need the most help get it from the highest rank.  Do this for at least half an hour, and get some input on what's working, what's NOT working, and how to improve.

Obviously, mixing it up is great too.
