So, David...tournament this weekend in Greensboro:

http://shoryuken.com/f7/luckys-revival-greensboro-nc-11-13-2010-a-254480/

If you can't make that, there probably won't be anything going on for a while.

edit: partially because there's nothing planned, partially because once Brandino QUITS EMBEE FOR LYFE, I'll be the melty blood scene.

I ended up going to a smash tournament instead (that was ironically in greensboro as well). I'll probably just stick to playing MBAC online. I'm not looking to get deep in the tourney scene or anything, just play good people. I'll still check around here though.

What's more amusing is that our tournament was hosted by Smash players.

Well, Melty was canceled anyway.

vZakat, do you want me to post here when I'm planning on hosting gatherings? Because otherwise...there won't be anything to check. I'm surprised "good people" still play MBAC online, they must have a lot of time on their hands.

You can just pm me or something, but yes I would like to be informed about future gatherings. I've only been playing melty for 2 months, so I might just suck compared to everyone online. They're good to in my opinion though.

Good shit PWS and Brandino.  You guys repped NC really well and NECXI.  Frank, you not playing Melty anymore?  Did that H-VAkiha from NC show up?

Only me and Brandon still post here. No, BZB, Frank, Roski (the VAkiha), etc all don't really play anymore. Roski/Frank stopped and then everyone else did, sometime after FR/before Evo.

There's several reasons as to why...but most notably: Super, a fragmented scene, people loving the shit out of GG, lack of gatherings, and Brandino getting mad.

Yeah? Well, you have FR coming up to find people. Pretty sure there are a few players there, but the south in general is pretty spread out. You could probably find a small scene at AWA, whenever that is.

Melty Blood Actress Again (PS2) lifespan in North Carolina:

August 20th, 2010 - April 27th, 2010

Wanna take bets to see how long Arcana Heart 3 will last in NC? With half of the MB player base in NC hoping on the AH3 hype-train I say 6 months at best.

I'm so realtalk right now in that thread.

I know for a fact AH3 isn't lasting that long. 6-7 is generous. It'll be me, you, Matt, like two State guys and Jon. 3-4 tournaments, top 4 matt/me/you/jon, State falls off, lack of entries, sadlife NAH.

Reason why I say 6 months is because people will want to train for the side tournament at EVO someone will run and try to win it...after that though...yeah it'll be pretty much done...unless MvC3 kills it first or AH4 gets announced around that time.

In NC maybe, maybe not.

In the US as a whole? Yeah, it's going to be huge.

It isn't helping you're choosing to stick to AC online for one.

I'd tell you to go to Greensboro this weekend for a tournament, but the odds of any MB being played there are slim to none since I doubt Brent's going to Lucky's, I'm not going, and basically no MB tournament is being ran there.

He was posting on DL about GG/SSF4 too though, and he lives in Raleigh...finding games in general isn't so hard, and me/Doug meet up like once every two weeks and have been playing Melty. Kris wants to do something in Raleigh tomorrow and I'm thinking about hosting a bigger gathering next Friday.

Lucky's will have Guilty/Super aplenty, of course.

I was thinking he was strictly talking about getting into the MB scene.

If that's the case, then I can see the difficulty, since it's hard to get into a scene that doesn't exist!

What's going on in this thread you ask?
