When's Melty on Steam?
ahaha that's no--wait, what?
: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Satsujinki July 29, 2007, 01:29:30 AM
This year's sac anime had a MBAC setup that garnered quite a bit of attention and had a fairly successful tournament.

the number of people who were interested and participated in the game's booth had hit an unexpected number so as a community we've decided to start a Sacramento melty blood community.

our first meeting was today at Q-cup on florin road, and although it was not as successful as planned (only 9 out of an expected 20 people showed up) we had a common ground and our community has finally kicked off.

i invite you all to come out and meet with us if your interested. as of right now, it is not clear yet, however with our current plans, we intend to meet every second and fourth saturday of every month.

the current setup at Q-cup is quite expensive, and we're still trying to gain more support, renting the place out costs about $200 (at roughly $7 a person if we can get 20 or more people per meeting) a night however we have full access to the store's LAN center with games including starcraft, CS, and battlefield. along with tapioca and food services before if you show up before 8:00 however those are not free.

our focus however is still melty blood, we currently have two laptop/PC setups and one PS2 setup for the games. with one large LCD television and two widescreen monitors. other games are also setup such as guilty gear accent core, tekken 5, and super smash bros.

so please, if anyone is interested and willing to know more information, please PM me or leave a comment in this thread, the more the merrier. there are some real contenders in this group that are looking for improvement, challenges, and new acquaintances.

~Satsujinki.

PS: also, leave any douchebaggery at the door, although we maybe a bit rowdy and vulgar at times we are actually quite friendly and mean no real offense or harm, any actual conflicts are to be kept outside. and trust me, the security at the store is NOT to be messed with, you may find a very unfriendly group of scary looking people at your door, should you cause any kind of damage to the store, or cause any physical or verbal harm to the other attendees.

but this goes without saying, right? :3

New update - as of September 2nd, 2007

We will have a meeting on september 22nd, thats coming up in a few weeks, please stay posted for the location. we aren't sure yet if we're going to hold it at Q-Cup or a certain person's house.

more information later.

: Choco July 29, 2007, 03:41:20 AM
Just to start, I'm in AZ, so this is just a bit of criticism.

I, personally, wouldn't feel inclined to show up for Melty practice if I had to pay 7 bucks just to get in every time. Is there not some other place you guys can meet that will be free or have a lighter venue cost?
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Satsujinki July 29, 2007, 08:05:34 AM
understandable, the $7 entry fee is a bit steep, but it would not be expected if we can get more visitors. if we had more people it would be cheaper. and overall its more of a donation rather than an obligation (at least thats how i felt, but perhaps our generous host may think otherwise haha), but most people came through and spent the money.

this is our current location :3

ill give more information once i get an OK from the hosts.

were still trying to gain some ground, but if people are interested consistent meets can happen. like i said earlier, our first meeting really hit the hosts wallet hard due to the lack of faces.

this is also subject to change, but the original plan was to meet every second and fourth saturday of every month.

ill keep everyone posted.
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Devereaux July 29, 2007, 09:25:42 PM
As I was hunting for an address earlier I came across that fact that this place is an internet cafe, no wonder it's so expensive.

On a second, and somewhat intriguing note, I also stumbled across a Wiki article about it:

"Q-Cup was an illegal franchise chain of cafes in California. During its operation, Q-Cup offered tea-based drinks and other foods."

I found this to be pretty intresting. Not like I'm holding it against the place though. (I'm sure everything's legit now ;D)
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Satsujinki July 30, 2007, 02:27:56 PM
lol had no idea, infact im surprised the store still holds the q-cup name. (not that it matters, i suppose at this point it's no longer a franchise and each individual store that has not changed it's name is a privately owned business.)
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Satsujinki August 01, 2007, 12:19:20 PM
anyway, ill drop a PM to those who expressed interest a week or so before the next meeting.
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Devereaux August 01, 2007, 01:14:06 PM
Sounds like a plan sir...

Oh yea and I'm assuming we need to supply our own stick/adapters for the PC MBAC correct? I would anyways, I just wanted to ask just in case we needed an extra or something.
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Satsujinki August 01, 2007, 11:10:43 PM
yeah, we do need to supply our own arcade pads, however there is an abundant supply of PS2 controllers available for the game (lol go figure.)

on another note, i just got a heads up, and the next meeting will occur possibly early to mid September, also planned for september there is Sac-con going on which is planned to have another Melty blood tournament (back by popular demand, unless something goes wrong :D.)

NEW UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 2nd.

-theres a local tournament hosted by our group at Sac-con coming up, the official date for the next sac-con is september 2nd at the scottish rite center next to sac state, ill put a post in the tournament board later on.

How many people would you say are involved in the Sacramento area MB scene? What are the average/best player skill levels up there?
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Satsujinki August 13, 2007, 12:22:14 AM
there's maybe one Arcadia cup level player, i just met him recently, but im more acquainted with his friends, im hoping he shows up again at the next sac-con for the tournament, his group of friends usually show up for sac-con because they have connections with the staff.

all together though there's an average of 14+ people. with the average skill level of mid to high experience play levels, a few newbies, enough to count on one hand.

Greetings all. :D

My friend Alt informed me of the upcoming tournament at Sac-con and told me that apparently Sacramento has a decent Melty Blood scene here.  I'd love to get some games in when you guys have gatherings.

A little bit about myself:

I actually live in Elk Grove, but it's close enough to Sacramento (for the sake of people that don't know where Elk Grove is).  I started playing MB last year, fooled around with Sion and Warc, but after summer was over I haven't really picked up the game since.  My main game is Guilty Gear, where I'm a top Sol player, but I dabble in some other characters as well.  I also dabble a bit in CvS2 and 3S, but I don't really play them that much either.

I was actually surprised to learn that MB had a decent scene here in Sacramento, considering Guilty Gear is a more popular game and a lot of GG players play MB as well... but even after all these years, I seem to be the only GG player in the Sacramento area.  Of course I'm not opposed to playing GG as well if any of you want to learn. :)

I looooooove me some Sion and will probably work on her after Evolution this week, but for now I play Warc because she's a simple character to learn in comparison.

Hit me up if you guys are down to play any time or are planning any kind of gatherings.

- Scott

A go, AFAIK.  Should be @SJSU student union and/or the bowling alley, which is connected to the lower floor.

This gathering is intended to be a tourney, right?  If so, I want us to run a standard 16 or 32-man double-elim bracket. :3

sorry to be late as all hell about this but, if its cool, i'd like for one of you guys over there at SJ to host this time and make brackets and junk while i sit this one out (and take notes ;D), if thats cool with you.

also, i will be needing an address for driving directions and a phone number so that i can call some one if i get lost when im near SJSU, or just to confirm information and blah blah.

and again, sorry about being so damn late with these brackets -_- . im pretty caught up in hw and my part time, but i really do plan to do it sometime this week (hopfully).

again, sorry (im a fucking pansy, i know).

I'm not sure where this is coming from. If we weren't serious about MB, do you really think we would drive all the way to San Jose for a tournament that we were expecting to lose in? If you want competition here, give me, Idolo, Cpt. Nanners, Satsujinki or Sentenru a PM stating the time and place and you'll see just how "serious" we are...
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Spirit Juice September 26, 2007, 11:05:49 AM
Gatherings once a month =/= serious and doesn't exactly give much room for improvement.  I didn't get good in GG by playing some friends once a month. D:
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Idolo September 26, 2007, 02:08:22 PM
dude, if you want to play, just give us a PM. we live in the area so its no biggie for us. and trust me, nanners, blaze and those other guys dont play just once a month. they play each other nearly every fucking day of the week. go ahead and ask any of the SJ players just how much improvement we've shown since.

but seriously. if you wanted to get some casuals in, put up a post here and we'll see how it works out in our schedules. i'll even try to get makau back in here ;D

Sure thing.  Since no one posts here I was under the impression everyone was taking a nap. :|

yeah, we dont use the threads very often because everyone who was seriously interested has already been making other methods of contact such as over the phone.

the sac group practices pretty intensely, there really isnt any need to use the forums on this subject because everyone who was already completely interested has taken steps to meet more often.

the original goal of this thread was to just get people to know that there is a scene out here in sac.

as of now, you can litterally see how much everyone has improved (lol watch the replays from plastic cup and then compare them to 73cm cup.)

: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Idolo September 27, 2007, 03:22:55 PM
yeah we still dont. we were thinking about going over to sac state or UCD for a venue for the next big tournament, but once i thought about the layout of their union/bowling alley those places seemed to be no good. unless you're willing to lend us your house for it... ;D

but for casual practice sessions, we usually just go over to one of our houses down here in sac. its nothing too big, just a couple of guys. like i said, if you're interested in getting together sometime, just post something here and we'll get on it.

So, are you people planning on doing another tourney up there in the near future?

well this is just me, but im hoping we can get alot more organized first before we can do another tourney. the first one wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either.

just wanna get stuff straight before making a second attempt.
the biggest issues about our last tourney were:
-Rushed tournament (most of that was from the con-staff who were bitching at us though)
-Shitty (very very shitty) brackets
-terrible environment (sweaty ddr playing power rangers was not fun to be next to)
-early start time.

what im hoping we can improve on our second time is indeed those points, along with:
-a nice open venue that dosent mind us and stays open late.
-if we do find a nice location, im hoping that the heat isnt ridiculous, im sure most players like comfortable environments over hot musty ones.)
-getting more attention and players from our area as well.
-coming armed in order to shut up some certain shit talkers (lol jk.....or am i?)

-coming armed in order to shut up some certain shit talkers (lol jk.....or am i?)

1. in that case, we should have another one down here sooner or later.

2. you sac cats need to come down to west toast 8 with us and do some norcal dmg imo.

Hey all,
After a random absence since the 73cm cup, I want to start having some casual sessions like the San Jose group. Me and Cpt. Nanners scouted out Sac State the other day and found some sweet locations for laptop set-ups. So since this weekend is a 3 day weekend for most, I figure we might as well start then. I'm proposing Sunday at Sac State for anyone in the area so we can finally start our own small scene here. What do you guys think???

I know Sunday's kind of weird but since Monday's a holiday I figured that we'd still have another day to ourselves after the casuals unless we want to do the same thing again.

Sentenru, not sure if you'll read this in time, but I should have MB burned for you.  I hope you know how to use Daemon tools, because I'm putting everything on one DVD, including MB:AC rar (contains the ISO), 1.03A patch, AppLocale, and Daemon Tools installer.  This is better than just burning the ISO to a DVD and giving you the rest on some sort of other media storage device.

Time: Someone call me when you leave, opens at 10AM

Casual Sessioning, the more hype damage down there, the better chance of MUGA getting a Melty Cabinet.

Oh, and Initial D 4 for 3 tokens a play. (1$ = 5 tokens)

Info is outdated on website, 6$ for parking garage to 10 PM.

Who is running the Sac-Con MBAC tourney?

Me and Idolo are but it's looking pretty bad so far for tomorrow. Due to space issues, the Sac Con's game room will have to close up shop at 2 pm tomorrow instead of the usual 6 or 7 so it wouldn't be worth the trip to come here for it unless you want to do some casuals. In January, Sac-Anime should be a lot better since the game room will be open until midnight. But for a good tourney for this forum, I would prefer that we go to Sac State or UC Davis so we wouldn't have to worry about money sharing issues.

Sac-Anime > Sac-Con

The SSBM tournament sucked too.

Anyways, I just started playing this game today at Sac-Con and I'd like to get good at it. I already play SSBM competitively (I go by Delphiki in Smash) and now Melty Blood has caught my interest too.

I live in Rancho Cordova, so if anyone wants to play I'm usually free afternoons and weekends - if I'm not smashing. Oh, and I don't yet own a copy of the game, but so far I've only used the PS2 controller, so I prefer that.

First off I'd like to get some names. I was the guy with blonde hair, wearing black. Who was the guy with the broken controller? (R1 lol) and the other guy who was showing me the controls and pwning me?

If anyone wants to get together to play, post back or PM. I'd love to travel to tournaments outside of the area too, and I'm more than willing to pay a share of gas ^_^.

Melty Blood seesion at Sac State this saturday beginning at 12 noon. Anyone interrested who's in the area PM me or any of the other SAC guys for more information about where we'll be. We'll also probably end up playing some Guilty Gear Accent core if Satsujinki wants to bring his station again.

Varn, get a stick.  If I had a spare working one I'd totally let you borrow it. :'(

Scott, I have no funds to afford a stick,......and only if u HAD a spare working one would have been great.. :psyduck:...thanx for the offer tho  :toot:.....but i seriously should be practicing on stick tho....  :'(

I'll be there on Saturday.  I won't show up late this time so I'll actually play more than five games before going to dinner.  :V

Varn, I'm going to WT9 for sure, but as for who is going in my car is still unknown.  I'll let you know as more information is known.

Finals end on Fri, so (unless work decides to play a joke on me) I *should* be able to drive up to Sac. Also, I could bring my ps2 stick if needed...though I'm so lost and confused in GG because I can't happily mash 2P or 2K on wakeup. XD

Yeah and such...yeah. Who'll be there anyways?

: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Blaze December 11, 2007, 01:08:02 PM
Yeah and such...yeah. Who'll be there anyways?

The same people that you saw at Sac con will be there. Me, Idolo, Sentenru, and Satsujinki. Other people that you'll meet will be Spirit Juice, Cpt. Nanners (maybe), and Chun (another maybe). Cpt. Nanners might be busy with work and Chun may be busy with his own finals.
If you know anyone else who's interrested in playing they can come along too.

I've asked for my name to not be told. Can you not respect this simple request? You have awarded yourself with a Semi-Ban. You can answer me via PM.

If you're wondering if I'm just doing this because it's my name, I'd do the same thing if someone else asked for their name to not be revealed, or personal info.

Ban lifted. I think you can tell apology is accepted.

tl;dr  version:  :blah:

Fun stuff, even though my game was crap today.

Blaze: play me next time fool! From what I saw the matchup should be entertaining.

Varn: Get a f-ing stick. You can do soooooooooo much better once you get used to it. It's a real shame to be limited like that XD

Idolo: WTF was all that faggotry you were spewing. Good games though <.<

Spirit Juice: Very good stuff. Getting combod for 6.7k was most unpleasant. Still, awesome showing on the 40-some games we played. I would say...find out what you're doing wrong with your 6B. I shouldn't be able to punch you out of your overhead like l was able to.

Lemme know when the next gathering is going to be :D
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Spirit Juice December 16, 2007, 02:26:43 AM
Yeah I dunno about 6B.  Some characters can just 2A it if their 2A isn't really low (like Sion's), but it may depend on the range.  I'll have to try stuff out when I get motivated to practice. :V

Good games to all today.
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community

Mir & Spirit Juice:
I'll be sure to play you two next time. I was so caught up in trying to beat Nanners and Sentenru that I kinda lost myself yesterday...

lol danny.  We'll have to see. :o

The reason I'm eager to find out what's going on as far as WT drivers and what not is because I need to find out who is taking Nerina and Tamaki (not sure if Tamaki is going to WT9 though).  It wouldn't be very good if my teammate for GG 3on3 gets left behind. :(  If worst comes to worst he can either take a train to my house the day before and crash at my place (though I'm not sure how capable he is of traveling without Ken), or I'll have to make a big detour to his place before heading to LA area.  :psyduck:

besides the fact i won most of my casuals against some of the best.( hf blade, psylocke, kejea...lol...( he wasnt using mech-hisui so it really didnt count)...and i SHOULD have won against chaotic blue......i was doing sum really stupid shit and was being tooooo predictable...wasnt adjusting ( im such a idiot)....but whatever

next time........i promise to be in the top 3......at least......cause i needa get that money!!! haha

Varn, you failed. I am thoroughly dissapointed in you...  >:(
J/K. You did well for your first appearance. Now you know what to practice up on for West Toast X.

Anyway, another Sac Sessioning this weekend anyone? I may be busy Saturday so I was hoping that we could work something out this Sunday.

I'm sure Tony will be down when I let him know. So far it looks like it'll just be us 3 and Spirit Juice if he can make it. Kind of a sad turnout but my blood for this game is just beginning to boil (no pun intended) so I'm down to play anyone.

We could play both...with more "emphasis" on MB  ;D

With Tony's fancy new laptop we'd be able to play on his 17 inch so that'd be cool. Hope you wouldn't mind being able to tool all of us though. lol

Well, I'm hoping the GG scene would get better since Melty Blood is kind of a "@_@" game. XD

In any case... this is for Varn.

MBAC (PC) Tournament set for Sunday noon

However, I really don't trust the official-ness of any tournament at SacCon ever since last year.

I'm thinkin' about hitting it up; however getting a ride is always a concern.

I might go as I have nothing better to do that Sunday, though 2 hours is pretty weak. I've never been to a tourney that's begun and ended that fast.

They're volunteer staff members that don't get paid or respected.  Also, they're required to stay at the hotel near SacAnime and con holder will not pay for them staying there.  So, pretty much they have to spend their own money staying at a hotel with a bunch of dudes and they don't even get paid for it.  We keep telling them to not volunteer anymore but they never listen to us. @_@

: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Blaze January 07, 2008, 08:02:05 AM
As a volunteer staff member for Sac Anime I feel that it's safe to say that 20 bucks for the weekend here is definately not worth it unless you're a hardcore anime otaku that likes small-scale events. I've been very tempted to listen to Spirit Juice and quit being staff. Even Idolo quit for this Sac Anime because of the required hotel stay. I only started doing this so that I can get more people into Melty Blood in Sacramento and meet new people to play against. But after all of this stuff that's gone down with them asking us for money, it doesn't really feel worth it anymore to sacrafice THREE DAYS just to give up money.

Anyway, I may drop out as well if they're still trying to get me to stay in a hotel even though I live 7 miles away from the site. So if that's the case, there will be no Melty Blood at this Sac Anime. I'd only ask the people here to come up if we held a good tournament at a place like Sac State where the only money that you'd have to spend on the trip would be on gas, food, and money for the tourney pot.  :blah:
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community

: Blaze January 07, 2008, 12:15:47 PM
Are they still going to be jews and take away like 3/4 of my CvS2 pot when I win?

They'll take away about 1/3 of the overall pot to fund the game room's "necessities". You'll only make a good amount if there's alot of entrants. Given how poor the Con's advertising is though, very few people will know about these tournaments and show up. And even if they did, the price to get in the Con in the first place would probably scare them away...
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Spirit Juice January 07, 2008, 12:32:44 PM
So apparently one of my friends from Reno and a few of his friends are going to Sac Anime this weekend.  I'm going to try to convince him to save his money. D:  The only good thing that could possibly come out of his 2.5 hour trip is seeing me (haven't seen him since Evo).  :psyduck:
: Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community
: Blaze January 07, 2008, 01:05:22 PM
The best thing that the Con has going for them are the guests that they manage to get sometimes. This weekend Vic Mignogna (english voice actor of Edward Elric of Full Metal Alchemist) and Travis Willingham (voice of Roy Mustang of FMA) are supposed to make appearances for panels. But other than that everything doesn't compare to other cons like Fanime since they're trying to build up.

I'll admit that seeing Crispin Freeman (voice of Alucard of Hellsing) and Spike Spencer (voice of Shinji of Evangelion) last Sac Anime was fucking awesome. The way Idolo managed to actually piss off Spike while he was in the middle of a guest panel was priceless! lol

We're still down to do something tomorrow in regards to a session. But it's ok if you guys can't make it. If possible, can you let me know by tomorrow morning at around 10 or so? : Re: Northern California: Sacramento Community

I've tried everything and me and Varn are the only one's that will be able to make it. Idolo says that his appearance is a "maybe" and even then he probably wouldn't stay very long. Like you said Mir, us alone is probably not worth the drive over here so we can try something again another day. If anything, Tony would be open to play tomorrow since he doesn't have work then.

Spirit Juice, it's cool if you're still asleep. To be honest, me and Varn were up until 3 this morning playing games at Chun's place. I'm shocked I'm awake now...

Quick question: Is there a reason why the guys coming from Sac (Sentenru, Capt. Nanners, Blaze) can't drive directly to WTX?

This has to do with seat provisioning and lack of cars. I have plans for either response so rather than worrying too much about the question, a quick response would be the most desirable.

Thanks guys.

The reason is that both Sentenru and Cpt. Nanners don't have cars of their own. I have my little Hyundai Accent but I refuse to drive all the way to WTX from Sacramento as I don't know how my car will hold up.

It's pretty good with MPG where it gets around 30 or so in. It's model is 2002. The problem is that I'm having some issues with my transmission. There will be times when my car will refuse to go over 2000 RPM while I'm on the freeway and it makes a screeching noice when I try to push it...  ???

Any Smash Bros. Brawl/Melee players in here? (Djcream where are youuu? lol)

If you guys are looking to pick up some new MBAC players there are a few of us in the Smash community who play or are picking up the game. Note: we suck. But with practice I don't expect that to last long.  ;D

If anyone's interested in hitting up a Brawl tournament over here in Rancho Cordova, there will most likely be a small handful of players up for games of Melty Blood.

http://www.allisbrawl.com/ttournament.aspx?id=1507

My SN is Delphiki over there, so if you guys want to drop in, or if you want to set up a session some other day let me know. Also you can catch me on AIM at Philosofos Rigas. I don't check this site very often but it looks like you guys could use a jumpstart in your Sac community. ^_^ (even if we're just combo meat for now x_x)

For the most part yes but I wouldn't mind getting back into things. Me and Nick A are pretty much the only ones who seriously continue to play Melty from the original group. Everyone else seems to have gone off for other things until Actress Again comes out. I wouldn't mind having sessions again if I knew more than two people would show up.  :-\

Okay, so here's something for you MB people to chat about rather than commuting to dustloop.  I figured this scene extends to the edge of the Sac crew; so talk, commute, and find opportunities to fire it up.

Here's the deal; I'm going to commute between Meltybread and Dustloop.  If you - exclusively - post in MB, then I'll only update your name in this thread and vice-versa.  If you post on both forums, then I'll leave your name on here.

Despite having played MB for a few years now and netplaying with casuals on /jp/, #meltanjp, and #meltyblood-active, I still haven't placed a single post here.  Registered since 2008 too.

On a side note, my parents recently moved from the MB-less community of Modesto to Sacramento, so I guess I'm more with this crowd.

Unfortunately, I go to college at Chico (that's deep NorCal), so it doesn't really even count.

I guess I'll go home and drop by any Sac gatherings if they happen.

I have a favor to ask here from anyone who knows how to split cables n' such.  I want to showcase the top 8 from MBAA/GGAC on the large screen HDTV.  Of course, we're not going to run the tournament on that TV, but I want to split it between the tube TV and the HDTV.  Doing so will allow you to watch matches anywhere within the room.  Will anybody be able to lend equipment or know how to follow up on this task?  If so, then can I count on you bringing it?

I'm thinking of holding small sessions at my house Fridays/Saturdays. Games include GG, BBCS2, and whatever you want to bring. I gotta say you have to get food from places nearby if you want to eat something, I just can't feed y'all with my family's own food. spacing is limited, so maybe up to 3 people can come over. If fyou live nearby, and can't make it to bigger events, come on by and we'll play fighting games and talk about whatever!

Now that MBAACC is out, anyone looking to play?
I have Cori and Zeph at my house playing right now.

I know Arvoyea said he wanted to play some, anyone else in Nor Cal?

You said you were out of the dorm for the time being right? What part of town are you in?

What's good Sac? I'm from Stockton and I'm like the only person in the 209 that's playing the game. If y'all are doing things, I can prolly make the journey up to Sac-town whenever I don't have work. I also play with the guys at RamNation and GameCenter so I can show y'all a few things if you want.

What's your work schedule like?
I generally work Tuesday through Saturday, so I can probably hold a session on a Sunday or Monday.

Cool. I'll post back in this thread (and maybe shoot out a couple pm's) if I can get anything set in stone.

(Sorry for the late reply, been busy with work and school.)

All good bro, take your time. The only time I get to play this game is at NCI. Bloody hate online.

I've been netplaying with a friend who lives in Folsom and another who lives in Canada (Ontario) and it's been smooth. (i.e. no noticeable input delay.) But then again, you know how netplay can be.

It looks like I'll be free this Monday, how about you? I could see if I can get a session going somewhere, and invite Cori, Arvoyea and Zephyr.

If anyone else is interested, please let me know.

Soooo, I talked to the assistant manager at a bowling alley I work at (Land Park Lanes on Freeport) and asked for his opinion on hosting a small tournament/session there every now and then. From my point of view, he's the manager that most of my coworkers aren't sociable with; the least... for lack of a better term, affable? manager.

He basically said that our general manager (GM) usually "rents" out the "fun land" room (which is where we hold birthday parties, meetings, etc.) but it's possible that she would give me a discount/let me do it for free since I work there. I gave him a general idea as to how many people I would expect (<20), and some reasons as to why it might support our company. Unfortunately our GM just went on vacation for a week, so I'll try asking one of our other managers in the meantime.

Anyways, on to the more concrete stuff. I have two laptops I can bring, both with the capability to run MBAACC, fully patched etc. I don't think we have a internet connection at our alley, so we wouldn't be able to stream; but I would be willing to record the matches either in-game or with some third party program (provided it didn't affect gameplay) so we could upload it later. I can bring my arcade stick as well as two PS3 controllers, but that's all I have; although I could probably bug Corimon to let me borrow hers, assuming she doesn't participate herself. I was also considering bringing my 360 with a monitor so we could have AE/UMvC/SC5/KoF13 on the side as well.

The only people I can assume would be interested are Zephyr, Corimon, Arvoyea, Hi I'm Nastyy(for marvel, not melty lol), and myself. If anyone else is interested, please let me know. I've already shot my GM an email, so I'll update as soon as I hear anything back from her or my other managers.

Of course, I'd be willing to drive out and pick up anyone who's not too far away. (That means you, Arvoyea!)

Sorry for the wall of text, kind of excited that my manager was open to the idea.

That sounds fun, I'd be interested depending what day these go down. Is there any shot of this getting started up sometime this month? I could use some last-minute competition before going to Final Round.

Anyone who wants last minute NorCal Tickets, I found this:

With registration and food and that'll keep your total cost under 450$ for attending.  Just throwing this out there.  If you come at 3:30pm to that airport and checkout expeditiously, I can pick you up with Garu and Chelsea.  This will make it so you have time for all tournaments.

Most likely Sunday or Monday; Monday seems like a more plausible option, as we don't have any leagues bowling in the evening.

Unfortunately our GM won't be back until around the ~21st, so probably not this month.

I could see if I could hold a small session if you'd be willing to drive up again; is Monday still your preferred day?

: DJcream February 14, 2012, 11:56:05 PM
Yeah, Monday's are still my best days. And ya, I don't mind the drive from all the way down here.

Yeah, I just ran it by my dad. He's alright with me having a few people over on Sunday or Monday. I suggested Monday since that seems to be the best day for you. Zephyr will still be in Reno, but I might be able to get Corimon to come over.

Hey guys. My name is Jay and I run Capitol Fight District in Sac.  If you are interested, you can come and bring Melty for everyone to play. I have been messing around with CC training mode and I would like to more about the game and learn how to play it.  My next event will be on March 10th. There will be a UMvC3, AE, SFxT, MK, and Blitz there for tourneys. If more players get a hand on MB, maybe we can grow the scene in Sac. Let me know if you guys would like to come!

Sup guys, this is DJcream. I'm currently at the ATL airport on the way back from Final Round. If y'all want, I can swing by with a Melty setup and will be open to Melty casuals and for the brave money matches. After a weekend here, (on top of years of mb experience) I feel like I'm at a level to properly teach some general things about the game.
