: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: LoliSauce October 01, 2009, 01:07:34 AM
Okay, I locked the old vegas threads and made this new one.  I'm posting this up not because I expect vegas locals to suddenly pop up in here wanting melty play, but because I'm now getting active to organize melty shit and start building a local scene.  I'll be cross posting most stuff from here to SRK's vegas thread.  Feel free to use this for Evo discussion/organization as well.

> Evo Notice <

I offer super cheap housing to non-locals during Evo.

If you are interested, email/pm/text me and we'll talk about arrangements.  My cell is 702-501-9742.

> Places of Interest <

Game Over

Unfortunately, Game Over has now closed their physical location.  A new local hotspot for the fighting game lovers may arise, but as of now it's sort of up in the air.

The Loli House
2709 Rialto Rd
Las Vegas, NV 89108 (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=2709+Rialto+Rd,+Las+Vegas,+NV+89108&sll=36.142727,-115.061016&sspn=0.100642,0.154324&ie=UTF8&ll=36.209239,-115.229244&spn=0.100556,0.154324&z=13&iwloc=A)

This is my pad, so no surprise visits.  I will usually hold casuals here on weekends.  Also, if you ever want to get in some focused practice sessions, hit me up and I'll let you know if you can swing by.  I'm currently free on weekends (anytime) and week nights (11pm-2am).  Don't expect me to do much on weeknights regularly though.

> Events <

Once we start getting an established scene, I'll start hosting events.  Until then, this is a placeholder.

So yeah, I expect this to be relatively barren for a little while.  I'll most likely just be posting to myself until I can coax the srk guys to keep an eye on this thread for updates on shit.

Still, hoshit I'm gettin to work on dat scene building!

Edit:
Okay, so apparently GO is rumored to be closed down or some shit.  I'll be confirming this weekend.  If this is true, looks like I'll just be holding melty meets at my place.  (lets hope it isn't, because I could use the publicity that GO casuals would get)
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: LoliSauce October 02, 2009, 08:46:49 PM
Ok, good news.  GO rumors ended up just being talk, and it's still up and running (though business is tight, like most places).  That said, I'll be there tomorrow with a melty setup in the early afternoon as is my usual weekend plans.
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: LoliSauce October 31, 2009, 06:36:00 PM
Dark Geese apparently wants to hold a big Vegas tourney for various fighters, and a buddy of mine who's helping me build a melty scene convinced him to include MBAA.  I don't have a date because everything's not solidified yet, but if turnout is big to this, we might have a huge jump-start to local melty interest.  I'll be posting in the tourney board and again in a few regional threads whenever we get a date, so that hopefully Cali, AZ, and any other people nearby will be able to make it.

Bitches better start posting in here soon.

No shit?  Well just gimme a call or text whenever (preferably text) - 702 501 9742.  Just lemme know you're Vagabond from meltybread so I'm not left confused when you do.  I have small melty hangouts (usually 4 regulars with occasional others) on weekends and I don't mind offering transportation for anyone who doesn't have a car.  We'll all be playing a lot over the next couple weeks with AM6 just around the corner, so it'll be a good chance to get a look at competitive play and get some solid practice in.  I can also get you a copy of the game and/or modded memcard to play it, if needed.

I hope to see you around.

Sounds good. If anything is going on this weekend, may I bring a friend?
Also, I don't have any money for the game/memcard but thanks anyway.

Yup, this Saturday for sure at my place.  It'll prolly start up around 4pm and go on until late in the night.  Address is in the first post, but just be sure give me a heads up call when you're on your way.  And yeah, bring whoever you want.  I got room and we'll have two setups going, so it's cool.

For sure!  If you're coming down, I always have weekends free, so gimme some prior notice and we can chill.  Otherwise, I'll see about coming around the next time there's an event at FFA or whatever.  I'll have my computer up and running soon (taken long enough, I know) so I'll see about getting started on that vector work after I've gotten the pc situated.

It was nearly a 4-hour game, so yeah, I guess you could say it's a short game as far as Dokapon Kingdom goes.  Still managed to die many times like I always do, though.   :emo:  As much as I love that game, I die so fast everytime.  It's my curse for being so ballsy though.

Actually, if you get a group of platformer-capable friends, NSMBWii is nearly orgasmic, flying by at speeds Sonic can no longer achieve.  Just - don't all press A at the same time.  So many needless failures...

(Sigh)...I gotta post?

Anyway, here's the information regarding Saturday February the 13th.

Anime Vegas gathering and BB:CT Tourney.

West Charleston Library
6301 West Charleston Blvd, Las Vegas NV.
(702) 507-3940

The Vegas Tekken Zaibatsu will be there hosting Tekken 6.

The Hakkenden (A Vegas based fighting game group) will be there playing in the tourney and prolly be hosting a bunch of different games at the same time.

Vegas Melty group will be there as well. (If confirmed by Lolisauce.) No doubt they will be hosting MBAA.

If interested in the BB:CT Tourney: 1 dollar entry. Single elim at 2:30 PM sharp. If you're late, forget it.

AVG2? Don't know what it is, but if someone wishes to host it, people will prolly sign up for it for kicks.

Anime showings start at 10:00 AM. Most of the gaming community should start showing up at around 12:00 to 1:00 PM.

OK, that should be it. Any questions? Let me know.

Thanks for posting up the info.  I'll plan to show up around 2pm with one or two Melty setups, but I need to know if we need TVs as well.

Also John, we might have a fourth person coming with us to AM6 now, so we'll almost definitely have to use my car.  It's not as good on gas mileage and it sounds like it's perpetually going to break down, but it'll get us there and back.  lol

Hmm.....TVs? Yeah, chances are you're gonna need'em.

AVG2 = Advanced Variable Geo 2

...We probably could play that as long as we turn off the graphic option...I know the Hakkenden will play it for kicks because it's different...

4 people...that's pretty cool. So, who's the fourth one? Is the person beastly? Either way, still cool.

Hmm....side tourney of Dokapon Kingdom for sleeping locations at Bell's? (Naw, forget that. I'm dead tier at that game.) Had to listen to the God Hand OP just to lessen my pain.

I just HAD to roll a 6 didn't I?

Ask and ye shall receive.

http://www.animevegas.net/

Evidently, this is a monthly screening group, not the convention that comes yearly with the same name.  (My sister laughed at me yesterday when I asked if there was a convention coming up here T_T)  The admission is free (YAY :toot:) so don't worry about that.

I can provide 2 TV's and one PS2, as long as there's room in your car, Lolisauce, which there probably isn't, lol.

4 people...that's pretty cool. So, who's the fourth one? Is the person beastly? Either way, still cool.

The fourth would be my younger brother, who mains C-WLen and whom you've met once or twice before.  I wouldn't say he's beastly, but I'm harsh on him because a) he beats me a lot, by range most of the time, and (b) he never practices ever, which pisses me off because I practice nearly every day.  Also he's my younger brother, so I tend to be harder on him most of the time since I KNOW he could be worlds better.  Goddamn Maplestory.

He's also more antisocial than I am, which means we'll probably never see him on Melty Bread.
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread

Just to re verify, BB:CT tourney entry: 1 dollar, Washington, dead president, etc.

He's also more antisocial than I am, which means we'll probably never see him on Melty Bread.

Give Loli enough time with him. If he could get my Hyperbolic Time Chamber training ass to stop training for world domination and post on melty for 5 mins, Loli will get your bro to eventually post at least once.

First, I haven't been playing Maplestory, so, no.

Second, yeah I'm antisocial when it comes to most things but since I had to make an account here for notifications on this thread, figured I'd might as well use it.

Also get better fighting against range or you shall fail forever.

Oh, I just realized I forgot to go over counterhit comboing with you, but that'll come after I see some more progress on your okizeme mixup.  I also forgot to tell you that you want the basketball to hit AFTER your slider when you do the 7j.[c] land 623a.  You want this because the extra blockstun from having basketball hit second will allow you to have safe recovery on 623a (normally it's slightly unsafe on block).  With that in mind, you pretty much never want to use 623a on a blocking opponent unless you either have a basketball coming down or you will push them into a ground ice that's just behind them.  623b is completely safe though, which is why mixing up between 623b and 623[ b] is so effective.  In any blockstrings or okizeme, utilize 623[ b] to surprise the enemy with low (2a) or throw (624a/c) when they're expecting high.  Use it too often and they'll start mashing 5a though.  We'll get to more advanced oki gimmicks (like crossup and double crossup shenanigans) after you get your fundamental meaty mixups down.

Also, Jeebus that pic is old.  I must of taken that screencap like 6 years ago.  I'm surprised you have it.

OK you two, break it up. There are too few of us here in the Dustbowl that play MB at a serious level, or want to for that matter. We already have enough problems with EC, CAN, MEX, EU, and maybe even JPN and KOR if they can show up for EVO. We all have to learn as much as we can before the reckoning that is EVO. Okay, I'll prolly be a little late to the anime vegas thing, cuz I needed to rage after my shitty work day tonight and I ended up chilling with Adonis and Joenell till like 4am playing melty and whatever else.  Whenever I do get there, I'll have two TVs and setups with me.  Joenell has shown some surprising improvement in his okizeme game already, but still needs to practice more to get his execution up.  By Evo we may have another serious contender to bring along.

Nah, it's understandable.  I could have given you guys rides though, if you wanted to stay.  I drive around a lot normally for work and shit, so driving around is no biggie for me (plus don't you live kind of close to me?).  If you ever need a ride to/from an event or hangout or anything that I'm going to, just let me know and I got you.

If you guys can get in touch with Paine for sometime next weekend he can hook you up with those disks, but I don't expect there to really be anyone to hang out with next weekend.  John, Adonis, Joenell, and I are all going to be out for the weekend at AM6 in cali, and Jay said he has work.  Paine usually has at least one day on the weekend off though, so getting in touch with him should be easy enough.  Both John and I can get you his number if you need it.

Basically all the guys who wanted to play BBCS or MBAA went over to Jay's place (don't think you know him), and hung out there till like 2am.  There was one new guy I'd never met before that was actually interested in playing MBAA, and had even played it back on MBAC (or maybe MBR?).  Also, Sammy was doing surprisingly well for just his second day playing.  He was still hitting his Reis bnbs that he learned last week pretty reliably.

Adonis, Joenell, and John - Since AM6 was a bust, what do you guys say to going to Burnt Toast 2? (http://www.meltybread.com/forums/tournaments-and-events/burnt-toast-2-sat-32010/)  It prolly won't be as big of an attendance and melty isn't the only thing going on, but some people invited us to go since we didn't make AM6.  I initially wasn't planning on going because I was going to try and save up from here till Evo, but I'm willing to make an exception to make up for last weekend.

Vanguard - Did you ever get those discs from Paine?  If not, I've got a few on hand for you guys.

Yo, Vegas Melty Crew...how y'all doin?

My main group the Hakkenden have taken an interest in Melty and would like to lvl up. I suggest that our two groups form an alliance for the meantime so that way Vegas has a massive force of Melty players.

You guys have experience, which is what we need. In return, we have numbers. Each member wants to learn a different character. This could potentially mean that our community would have alot of Melty beasts running around and we would have lots of variety so no one can catch us off guard.

I'm gonna post the link here to our main website, let us know what you think. If the two groups do come together, we'll have to schedule gatherings so that way we can get as much players as possible.

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Fighters_Utopia/

Lolisauce: Please contact Paine regarding this weekend. If we luck out, we could have a large gathering by this weekend.

Burnt Toast sounds tasty, I'll have to see if I can afford it.  They'll probably be like "you better win some fucking money" and I'll be like "..."

Is this the same deal as before?  $30 for gas?  (I saw entry will be $12 - 7 to get in and 5 per game, BUT THE ONLY GAME I CARE ABOUT IS MELTY  :V)
I know if I can't make it, the same will go for Oni, so here's hoping.

This weekend is probably a no-go for me, my older brother is supposed to be moving, so I'll be helping him.  If that changes, you'll know because I'll be 421-ing my way over.  (Kouma DASH)

Combining groups sounds good to me, if my vote counts I say DO IT.
This could potentially mean that our community would have alot of Melty beasts running around and we would have lots of variety so no one can catch us off guard.

And Paine, good to see you on here.  You shouldn't have to be on here all the time - that's what watching topics is for.

Yo, good to see you get an account.  Check some match videos if you're looking for a character that'll make you say wow.  With the massive diversity in the cast, there's definitely a character for everyone out there.

There was a tourney last weekend that Prinny, Adonis (Lv.0), Joenell (Oni), and I were all going to go to.  I had car problems though, so we didn't end up being able to make it.  Other than that, we might be going to another tourney called Burnt Toast 2 next month in cali, depending on a few things.  Prinny will be going to Devastation, but I don't remember when that is cuz I don't plan on attending.

We kinda owe Bell since AM6 was also his birthday...

3/20/2010. Tourney on saturday. I need that Melty practice...for now, put me down for yes. There are a couple questions though that will determine my final answer (questions two and three are for you Lolisauce):

1. The hotel fee is 105 bucks a night. If the Vegas Melty crew are going, are all four of us gonna share a room then we compete for the beds?
2. The tournament officially begins on saturday. However, knowing that this is a tourney and there's usually pre and post tourney hype, how long do we plan to stay?
3. What time shall we head out to the tournament? Usual time like before? That would help me out since I wouldn't have to use any vacation time.
4. For the Hakkenden, since there is gonna be Blazblue Continuum Shift, Guilty Gear Accent Core, and Melty Blood, how many members are interested and capable of heading out there?

I know that there's still alot of time before the tourney actually starts, but I think it would be best to get these questions out of the way first...

Yo fools this is the Macc.  Some of you know me, some may not.  This matters not.  What does matter is that I play Rouma & Roa (:fap:).  I like all the usual things (cotton candy, unicorns, anatomically correct barbie dolls, dirty looking crack fiends).  I just started playing some MBAA so looking to maybe get a little better for Evo and what nots.  Doozo yoroshiku.

@ :prinny:: What is this BBCS action being played on?  PC, cab, or modded arcade board?  Also would this just be a Saturday thing cause I would not be able to pull off another Friday off?

A side note, but does anyone here actively use shield in MBAA?  I got some questions about shielding multi hit attacks.

Yes.

Ok so I am curious about the timing and recovery after sheilding especially for sheilding multi-hit attacks.  I come from a 3s background where you have a instant recovery frame right after a successful parry.  At times it seems like I have no advantage frame after a successful sheild to do a counter attack even on normal link combos.  It seems like my character is still stuck in the sheilding animation after certain multiple frame attacks and thus can not successfully sheild all of them or counter attack.  I am not sure if this depends on the amount of time the button is held or not either.  I have been able to do this on occasions, but not consistantly.  I may not have it down right yet due to the game speed, but does this work the same for MBAA?  I figure any insite may help me to get this down with more ease.

tl;dr

Burnt Toast is from 9/10am till 11pm, so regardless of how long the melty tourney is the game will be set up on a few tvs all day for causals. You guys should ask Bell if you can stay at his place (kick him down with some of those bucks that would have gone to hotel). I dont think he would mind pre/post casuals for whenever you guys arrive/leave. And you all can carpool to Rowland Heights on Sat. Just a thought, you guys should ask.

Yeah, the creator of this site is an ex-3S player, as am I.

Shielding in MBAC would incur you a damage penalty on your counter-attack, as well as a frame disadvantage. A normal held shield, I believe, was a 50% pro-rate, whereas an Ex Shield was 35%. You're correct in thinking it's similar to parry, but here, it's slightly different. When you shield in MB, it forces the other person's move to continue, as if they whiffed it. In 3S, you get immediate frame advantage, not so here.

Now, shielding got changed a bit in MBAA from MBAC. You can only hold shield in Crescent and Full, not Half. This is bad for people who hold shield (i.e. not Ex Shield which is tapping the shield button) since gaining meter in MBAA is different. It's pretty useless now. I'd focusing on learning how to use Dodge.

There's also Shield Bunkers (214D) which are Alpha Counters. 100% meter use in Half-Moon but I believe it's invincible. 50% in the others.

Some of this may or may not be unique to AA but anyways to correct what Hasuko wrote... I'm not 100% on my post either but for the most part it should all be true

Normal shields may or may not prorate more than EX Shield but at this point it doesn't really matter.

You will be at a frame disadvantage if you choose not to do anything since you won't be able to block and you'll be in shield recovery frames.

When you shield their move it is actually as if they hit since they still get cancel options ie they can double jump and block your shield counter, air dodge, air dash, I'm not sure how this holds up for shielding ground attacks.

EX-Shields are normal cancellable, normal shields are special cancellable only

Full cannot EX-Shield, only Normal shield so you must cancel into a special or shield counter (236D)

Crescent can EX-Shield or Normal shield but they do not have a shield counter attack

Shields are still useful but for the most part they are much less stronger and can be reacted to (pretty difficult to do so though) . The best is using a EX-Shielding in Crescent Moon and countering with a 4f jab (only some characters have such a fast jab)

Shield bunkers are not invincible but have a shield/clash frame at the start which will beat out their poke and hit them. However if they whiff cancel they will be able to recover and block/punish your shield bunker.

Half-Moon bunkers are much faster than other bunkers.

My knowledge of shielding is mostly specific to MBAC, since I don't have easy access to MBAA, and when I do, I rarely shield. Sorry if I was wrong on some points. :V

It's going to be on a modded arcade board I believe. I think however, that there will be a modification where you can use an arcade stick. Just like the time at Devastation.

As for it just being a saturday thing, I'm not sure but I believe so. I think the tourney for the most part is going to be a one day deal unless someone else mentions otherwise.

Macc, allow me to sum up in the easiest way I can.  It's a little difficult though, since shielding works different for each moon style.  Here's a quick breakdown:

Crescent- This style can EX Shield and normal Shield, and you can extend the normal Shield by holding the D button (at the cost of meter).  An EX Shield is just a perfectly timed Shield, which you can cancel into any normals or specials you want.  Normal Shields can only be cancelled into specials in this style.  Generally your best bet is to try to EX Shield and counter with your 5A jab and go into a combo from there.

Full- This style can only normal Shield, which you can extend by holding the D button (at the cost of meter).  You can cancel the shield into any special or use the shield counter with 236D.  Since this style has no penalty for holding out your shield, be sure to make use of it.  It helps when people are staggering attacks in blockstrings.  As a general rule, it's almost always better to shield counter after any successful Shield, since you are invincible during the counter animation and shield counters will launch for a free counter hit combo.

Half- This style can only normal Shield, and it automatically shield counters for you.  Pretty easy modo.

Other notes:
-Shield multihit attacks with repeated presses.  If you can throw out a shield counter or a special with invincibility startup, you can use that after the first hit is shielded for a guaranteed counterhit, but otherwise you just shield each hit and counter with whatever afterwards.  Crescent moon characters with extremely fast jabs can just 5a after the first EX shield against a multihit attack.

-Shielding an enemy attack counts that attack as blocked, so they can potentially cancel that shielded attack into what it can normally be cancelled into on block.  In other words, it is possible to get an attack shielded and still get away safely (or counter with a reversal) if you can react quickly enough.

Thanks guys, exactly the kind of info I was looking for.  So essentially if I use crescent that is the closest I can get to a 3s type of parry style by using the EX shield since I can cancel into normals and specials.  This would explain why I was so confused before because I was primarily using Full Moon Rouma or Half Moon Roa and trying to following up my shields with normals.  Gonna try to work in that shield counter more since it seems pretty beast.  That takes 100% heat and kinda looks like a burst attack right?

As long as I don't need to take off the Friday I am down for that tourney.  I wanna play on that Mike Z cab.

Nah, shield counter doesn't take up meter.  It usually just looks like an uppercut of some sort on the ground or a quick poke in the air.  Just do 236D immediately after connecting with a shield and you'll get it.

The thing that uses meter...you might be thinking about the bunker (the GG dead angle type attack) that you can do during blockstun with 214D.

Also the one guy's name is actually Kouma.  Speaking of Kouma, you decided to try playing around more with Full Moon style after all?  The high level stuff for F Kouma is pretty demanding as far as execution requirements, but he's a pretty interesting character that works a lot around out-thinking your opponent.  Crescent and Half moon styles are a little easier for Kouma and are also known to have a better pressure game thanks to reverse beats and whiff cancels, but it seems like F Kouma is more rewarding if you can yomi the opponent.

No worries.  Turn out was not that bad and we may have gotten some possible MBAA converts.  All depends on how bad they took the beatings Prinny gave them  :psyduck:.  Either way I am looking to do a combo MBAA/BBCS tourney at the end of this month.  I will post back here with more details once I get stuff confirmed.

When it came to MBAA, yeah it looks like one of them was hella interested. He goes by ChristianCalim, and he's from the SRK group. He wanted to see a glimpse of high level play and I showed him just a little bit of C-Hisui. At the end of it, the man was sold and I gave him directions to hook up with this forum and to let us know that he's interested.

Other than fighting Macc with F-Ryougi, that's about as far as I took it...I figured it would be best to simply let people play and try it out for themselves.

Ok I talked to Bryan at GO and he cool with us running a tourney at GO.  He said just let him know a date.  So I am gonna post this here and on the Hakkenden site, which day works best for everyone to run this?  Its gonna be run on a Saturday and here are the choices:
March 27
April 3 (I am favoring this date)
April 10
Let me know what works best for everyone by this Sunday and I will set a date in stone.  I will need extra gear for this event.  Gonna also posted this on the Hakkenden site, but here is what I got:
1 PC with BBCS
2 fatty PS2s
1 set of PS2 component cables
1 PS2 memory card with Free McBoot
2 PS2 pads
2 PS2 sticks
1 PS2 to USB convertor
1 set of DVI to DVI cables (soon to have VGA convertor)
Since GO has all LCDs we need to have component cables for the PS2s or else we are gonna get lag.  Also we will need either VGA or HDMI computer cables to hook up any BBCS setups.  Since this going to be an all day thang with two seperate games here is the idea: Have two TVs for free play on each game (or pools if enough numbers show up) and one on the larger TV for the current tourney game.  Any suggestions, comments, player hating?  Hit me up.

Wow, that's dope.  Macc, have I told you that I love you?  Because I do.

I can supply one ps2+game setup and Joenell has ps2 component cables he can supply.  I can round up 2 pads for it as well.  Do you have a copy of melty for your setup, because I can also supply as many game disks as needed.

As for the date, I don't have anything on any of the above mentioned dates, so I'm good with whatever.

Hey Macc,

Got in touch with one of the members of the UNLV community not long after I wrote this message. They're gonna show up. Just about all of them.

They have the following characters down:

Litchi
Hazama
Tager (Their top dog and the character who runs things there from what I heard.)
Arakune (Their man knows the loops)
Ragna
Noel
Jin

Their community is no joke when it comes to BBCS. I've fought them before and I know that they're pretty mean. At bare minimum, FANTASTIC practice for the Devastation tourney.

As for you Lolisauce, just to let you know an F-Miyako player won Final Round XIII. Isn't that awesome? Doren 2k fought Lord Knight and defeated H Kohaku! Looks like if you keep doing what you're doing, you're gonna make people turn heads!

Both tourneys are gonna be fierce!

Exciting times....exciting times!
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: Macc March 17, 2010, 07:13:35 AM
^^GREAT JOB!  I am interested in seeing this Tager player.  If I can pull myself from some FFXIII, I am going to have to sit down and get some more BBCS practice in.  Also I am not sure if you have been looking at the SRK Vegas thread lately, but Hell from Above (I am pretty sure you are familiar with this name) just moved out to Henderson.  He is looking for some peeps to play some BBCS with.  He may be trying to hit up some casuals at GO this week/weekend if you are interested.  He also said that he would be at the tourney on 4/3.

Wait, this stick is a 360 stick.  I was looking to get a ps2 stick, since I have converters for ps2>360 and ps2>ps3/pc.

Thats my bad I totally though you were talking about a PS3 or 360 stick on Saturday at Paine's.  If your looking for a PS2 stick that may be a little more money and harder to find since it is last gen.  I tried checking Play-Asia, but all their PS2 sticks are out of stock.  Your best bet is checking on eBay or the trade thread on SRK.   If you go on eBay avoid any of the sticks there that are cheaper than 40 bucks.  They are crap and break easy.  I'd recommend going with anything Hori.  On the SRK thread you can get a quality custom one built by someone there although it may cost ya a bit more.  Or if you have some soldering skills you can buy a box from the thread and wire it yourself.
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread

Hmm...a renowned player, who just moved to Henderson, and is interested in playing BBCS. Sure, I don't mind swinging on by to GO this saturday for a little while. Of course, we'll give him a chance to get himself acquainted with the game and not just stomp his guts out like those fellas did at Devastation.

Hey Lolisauce, if you're free that saturday, would you be interested in practicing some more MBAA at GO? Seeing that this game is gonna be a GO tourney, we should get it out there so that people can see what it's like.

If anything comes up that may disrupt my plans for this saturday, I'll be sure to let you know ASAP.

Well, my car is going to be in the shop all weekend probably.  If someone can pick me up, I'll go.  I need to buy a composite cable on the way though.

I know that he was from Cali and is already very familiar with BBCS from playing it in the arcades.  Apparrently he has a very strong Arakune.  I think GO this Saturday could work for me as well.  Should get some more MBAA in as well.

Also, Sammy was doing surprisingly well for just his second day playing.  He was still hitting his Reis bnbs that he learned last week pretty reliably.
Good to hear.  I wonder if he'll show up on here soon.  Also Vagabond, are you getting a better feel for the game?

Definitely going to that 4/3 tournament, god willing.  I gotta practice them rekkas more, and start using 5A to whiff into 214 like a real man does.  I really should pick up a secondary, but Kouma is just...  too manly.  I can't resist him.   :fap:  And maybe not show people my pokeymans so much.

Yessir, I was defeated in BB. Ragna has always been a tough matchup for me. I'm gonna have to do my homework when it comes to that matchup so I can be ready for next time.

I'm thinking I'm gonna have to use someone else when it comes to Ragna. Maybe Tao or Hazama...
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: MissedFRC April 04, 2010, 02:34:33 PM
Other than Litchi?

I don't find that matchup very difficult, personally. It's slightly in her favor (she's the only who isn't Bang that has favor on him). What do you have trouble with?
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: Prinny April 04, 2010, 05:28:51 PM
Hmm...

Personally, I think it's just me. I try jump ins only to get beat out by Ragna's 6A. I know a frontal assault from the air isn't a good way to go, so I try to attempt crossups. However, it looks like Ragna can punish those as well with his 6A. So the only thing I can think of is to somehow jump in on him when he doesn't expect it.

The Ragna player's offensive pressure game really gave me some trouble. I'm having a hard time when it comes to punishing Ragna's 214A (he's facing right). Even if he tries to do his extra attack I figure tsubame should beat it out. However, I think if he doesn't, all he has to do is his shoryu and that solves that problem. Occasionally, his 6b into 3c blockstring would trip me up every now and then but that's my fault. Also, if I successfully block his dead spike, is there any good counter for that? I don't think so...

I think my other problem is simply how to approach a real good Ragna player from the ground instead of the air. I'm worried that if I throw out one 5b carelessly, he's going to see it coming and then he'll IAD and then I'll suffer a combo. I try to use 6b every now and then to see if Ragna was gonna try to use his 5b or something on me for a counter hit attempt. Except when it fails, I'm normally wide open for a combo. So pretty much if there's some safe pokes out there that I don't know about I would like to know.

So I guess overall, my main problems are: 1. How to approach Ragna from the ground. 2. How to effectively counter some of his offensive assaults. 3. How to jump in on him (if at all).

: Level 0 April 04, 2010, 05:47:26 PM
That was fun.  I gotta stop fighting with my face and start playing in a smarter manner, plus practice.  I can't believe how much I lost from not practicing for about two weeks. =_=

Macc, it was fun playing against your Roa.  Made me really work those 421 dashes just to get in, and was really effective in nullifying my newfound obsession with air movement.

Lolisauce - I hope that random 5[C] that failed was caught on video.  That was so hilarious and weird, I'd love to see it again just to confirm that it was my A-Armor that screwed it up.  Why does weird shit happen every time we lock horns?

I gotta keep practicing.  Got a long way to go before I can become a real boy Kouma.
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: Macc April 05, 2010, 07:58:43 AM
^^It was good playing you as well.  I had put Kouma aside since I could not find any good ways to setup his command throw, but after playing you I will need to pick him back up and try some of the tricks I saw you using.  I really did not get a chance to practice a lot of MB during the week so my sheilding which is usually better was way off that day and I was getting punished for it.  At least I did better at BB, but I still missed a few clutch command throws that could have been game winners.

@ Prinny: Ragna in general now seems to have a lot more 'safe' situations especially on block.  I could be wrong, but from the play against Ragna in CS compared to CT I have had so far it feels this way.  From checking Dustloop, most people say that the Ragna/Litchi matchup plays the same in CS at it did in CT.  It seems that with air to air Ragna is gonna have a big advantage.  Although I did see some good advice to bait him from the air and then backdash to C.  The only other thing I could recommend is using some more zoning.  Not really great for direct dmg, but could be good for baiting him into situations you want and to distance him to eliviate some of that steady pressure Ragna can get when close.  Although since I am not a Litchi player I am not sure how effective these tactics would be.  I would look into Hazama as a counter pick alt since most are saying that effective use of ouroboros puts that match up into Hazama's favor.  Just save a burst or a DD for when he gets you in the corner.
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: Prinny April 05, 2010, 04:56:56 PM
Thanks for the tips Macc. I'll go study dustloop some more after my break from fighters is over.

You know, that you mentioned Hazama, now that I thought about it for some time after the tourney ended, I should've went with Hazama at the finals. I already knew Ragna gave me trouble before at CT and I was learning other characters for just in case. That and his chain gimmicks and anti air super would've helped me out alot. Especially since I know how to combo afterwards...Once I've exposed him to some high level play and absorbed the knowledge from those matches, I should be more confident in busting him out instead of my main. (Looks like I'm gonna have to take some trips to UNLV...)

: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread

I recommend you just strictly play Hazama for the next few times you go to UNLV.  As for this MB team tourney, do something with a mini qualifier tourney like they did for last year's SF4 regional team tourney.  Maybe hold one for NV in Vegas or run it as part of the MBAA action at this year's Devestation?

Alright, I play the Litchi vs. Ragna fight alot. Against our Ragna player (not Veteru!) and sometimes against Veteru.

You need to play this match really safe. Be really cautious with 2B and 6B because if you whiff he gets in for free. 5B is really safe to throw out, if Ragna IADs at you the move will actually tag him out of the air now.

5A will beat his 5B from range, but not his 5C. If you're worried he might try to outrange your 5B with it, just hit 5A a few times. You won't get anything off of it, but he'll think twice about hitting the button.

To deal with Hell's Fang, make sure you instant block the first hit. If you get the IB, 2A him. It'll beat anything he does. If you don't IB, just block, it's not safe enough to try to hit him out after that.

Try not to jump in on Ragna much. j.B might not work for cross-up if he does 6A because it enlarges Litchi's hitbox. If you're going to jump in, make use of double-jumping to throw off his timing or just fall and barrier. You can also kara-fastfall or use j.D or j.2D.

The rest of your problems just seem to be that you need to get more familiar with Ragna and to block his strings.

@MissedFRC: Thanks dood! :prinny:

I'll be sure to keep those tips in mind or play some online CT to commit those tips to memory. Unfortunately, I don't see the pro Ragna player too often or at all to practice against. I think a couple of members of the UNLV BB group play Ragna as a second, so I can ask them for some sparring matches. Regardless, I'll get those tips down so that I can do better at future tournaments. If you're planning to go to Devastation or EVO this year, I'll be there. Lemme know if you ever wanna meet up to chat or grab a beer.

@Macc: This saturday that UNLV BB crew is gonna have setups at the library for some casuals. I'll be sure to play Hazama there to lvl up my skills. And if anyone there plays a good Ragna, I'll bust out Litchi to practice that advice from MissedFRC.

Mmm, we might be able to pull out a solid team just vegas.  You, me, adonis, joenell, and...???  Paine would have to get a legit way to practice first, since his slim ps2 is one of the few rare ones that are incompatible with the memcard softmod.  =\  Vanguard or Sammy could be viable additions as well, if they step dat game up.

Well, I posted up saying we'd bring team vegas, so looks like we're committed now either way.

: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: Prinny April 07, 2010, 09:22:57 PM
.....OK everyone, before we start talking further about this World Team Tourney. There are a few things that need to be said which is not meant to insult anyone, but to give everyone from both Vegas Melty and the Hakkenden an idea of what we're going up against.

1. Our crew is NOT solid. The tournament will be likely to ask for 5 to 7 members from each region to play. At present, we have four members
which consist of Loli, myself, Adonis, and Joenell who can be considered the strongest players in Vegas and play this game seriously.
The one who comes closest outside of the Vegas Melty Team would be Paine, Leader of the Hakkenden.

My point is that when it comes to the tournament, those who are going to play are going to be counted on to do their best. Regardless of how much experience the individual may have. Those who say that they wish to sign up for Team Vegas are (no foolin') must be serious about their training from now to EVO. This includes learning good BnBs, consistent improvement of play, and playing more than one character so that the rest of the team can be exposed to more characters. Many people from many different fighting game communities throughout the world are going to see what Team Vegas is made of. If you play the game for fun, that's great, enjoy it. However, if ANYONE is looking to be a member of Team Vegas, those who commit themselves must go all the way. Cause when it comes to EVO, it's going to be Team Vegas against the world.

2. We are also NOT solid in terms of our gameplay. We have learned good BnBs and how to keep offensive momentum after a combo which is good. For the most part, we have also learned of the tools that we have available regarding each of our mains and how to use them. However, All of us have plenty of flaws in our playstyle which can easily be exploited and turned against us. While all of us are learning and/or developing good offensive strategies for our mains, not enough time is spent on defense.

This is most prevalent when it comes to certain characters. We need to focus on good defense and countermeasures to such things as H-Ryougi's beastly blockstring, F-Maids' offensive lockdown, Mech Hisui's zoning game, S tier high level play, etc. Such things can be seen through youtube or streaming videos. All of us must study and analyze this material so that when we have to deal with it during the big tourney, we will not crumple under the pressure.

3. I know that as a crew, we should go in there with confidence to win and that we can stand up to the likes of Jiyuna, Xie, HF Blade, Zar, etc. However, the thing that we CAN NOT ignore is their level of play. We must first accept and respect the fact that they are beastly players. Then we must improve ourselves to surpass those levels. This will require watching videos of these players and observing how they work. From there, we can see how they approach or play keep away from the ground, air, etc. and incorporate it into our own style of play. If we become overconfident, and do not respect such players, they will give all of us a rude awakening.

Those who agree or disagree with anything I have said here, please let me know. Again, I would like to point out that this isn't a message meant for intimidation. This message is to address the level of play Team Vegas is going to face and the kind of preparation needed before that time. I DO NOT want Vegas to be known as simply as a place for holding EVO. I want our players to be recognized amongst the pros and all kinds of fighting gamers alike.

: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: LoliSauce April 08, 2010, 12:32:15 AM
Yeah, real talk Melty Vegas is pretty casual.  When I'm on Adonis and Joenell to practice, and I'm going over after work to play with them regularly, they step up their game.  Outside of that, they don't have much motivation to stay competitive on their own.  I also have trouble staying motivated to practice if I don't have someone I can bug to practice with, but because of my work hours, it's troublesome to get in daily play.  Relating to work hours, Adonis now has a job working basically the exact opposite hours I do, so we're basically never going to get to hang out at all cept for weekends.  Joenell actually will practice solo if you keep on him, but doesn't understand high level play enough to know what kinds of things he really needs to learn without someone to coach him.  Paine is pretty casual in general when it comes to most fighters, mostly due to playing so much that there's no real hard focus to get godlike in any one particular game.  Sammy has caught on quick to melty gameflow and seems like he could easily catch up to our level with regular play, but I haven't really had the chance to hang out with those guys much outside of random weekend things.  Everybody else is still new and isn't really committed to the game yet.

If anyone is seriously interested outside of John, and willing to put in the time and dedication to getting pro, just drop the word.  John and I will be down to do whatever we can to help step up anyone's game.

If we don't have enough solid interest though, we can always just have a qualifier with Desert Coast (AZ) or Socal to get the best of us in with the best of them.
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: Prinny April 08, 2010, 05:19:20 PM
You're giving Vegas their own team (what have they even done? They don't even travel anywhere!) but you want Arizona to compete with space with Texas and OR/WA?

Fuck. That. I'm tempted to convince everyone in Arizona not enter out of protest.

Arizona is no longer considered in the same region as us. We now have NorCal and SolCal who with the exception of a few, may not even talk to us. Anyway, to get to the point...this is for those who need to have a fire lit from within to start training.

We gonna show these folks what we're made of?

I'm in.
Your right in me slacking in practice when it came to many fighters.
One way or another I either grew tired of the game or found many things getting in my way.
This has changed however for I really do want to learn Melty.
I have fun with the game and enjoy the rush from it.
If Macc would be so kind to lend me that slim that works then I'm on it.
My work schedule is pretty much the same. Mon-Fri mornings (with the exception of this week Fri working nights)
With Sat and Sun off. I am more then willing to take the time and effort needed to aid and rep Vegas.
Test me out on a reg basis to make sure I am on point.
I am always on youtube so saving & watching pro matches I got down.
Technically Melty is the only game on my focus right now for it is the only main game I'm signing up for @ EVO.

This is something very important to me. I haven't been this hyped for a game in a minute.
It sucked I didn't get any "real" practice before the tournament.
Probably would have did better.
Oh and trust me when I say, when I hunger for a game; its all I do.
That's how I got tops in kof 02 on xbox live.
Hell, I'd be playing the game now if I could. Stupid silver slim being gay.

But on real shit here, I'm game.
I will play the hell out of the game and before the teams are set test me to see if I'm ready.

Paine remind me the next time we hang out to bring you that PS2.  You already have all the cables right?

Man that regional setup is super confusing.  They can't decide who the hell to place in what region even if they live in that region.  Plus allowing same characters on the same team has always been disallowed in all team tournaments I ever played in.  Either way I don't think I would be up to snuff for the MB team stuff.  Not about to bring the team down with my play :bleh:, but any help you guys need with any practice sessions, gear, or tourney setups let me know.  Let me know when works for you guys in the future, thinking of running something on either the 4/24, 5/6, or 5/15 at GO.

So what you're saying Macc, is that I can't place you even in your own state? Please elaborate for I am trying my best to split this up the best of my ability to where everyone is equal and satisfied.

I have been to tournaments with same characters, even if it is not the norm. I want to allow the best PLAYERS to be represented, not character diversity. Limiting one same character a team could possibly limit the overall strength in players. Examples would be Sp00ky/Nightroad from NY and Me/DivineArc from the South. They are solid players who represent each other and their state/region well so why should they not compete on the same team?
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: LoliSauce April 09, 2010, 10:41:44 AM
I support not having a character limitation.  If this was just a normal team tourney, it'd be different, but since it's by region it should just be the best players with their best characters - no limitation.

And about the regions, we're still getting that worked out, since there are some places without enough people to make their own team.

I was just reading the thread and it appearred that regions for certain people jumped around a lot, but I am sure that this is just because of you guys are trying to find the best way to match together enough players for teams.  I remember seeing a guy from Pittsburgh (my hometown) being considered midwest so I was like huh?  :D

As for the same character thing, I always saw this as a way to prevent teams from picking nothing but top teirs and as a way to promote the top players of a certain character.  Plus it introduces some variety and strategy into it.  I purely judging this off all past team tournies I have been in (ST, 3s, etc) where it was this way.  Either way that gives you the right to say for example you are the best Arc player on the east coast.  Not passing judgement or anything, but this is the first time for me seeing that sorta setup.
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: LoliSauce April 09, 2010, 11:17:59 PM
Normally promoting character variety and preventing top tier picks is important in that sort of team tourney, but melty has like 30 characters each with 3 widely different styles and the tiers are pretty close.  Plus, because of the player base, there aren't really many top players who actually play same character (especially when you consider different moon styles as different chars), so even if the rule was in place, it wouldn't change too much.

OK fellas...

I figure we're gonna need to fight someone other than ourselves if we wanna improve. However, when I check out any nearby tourneys, they're all in EC. This is the only one I can find.

It may be quite a stretch, especially since the month after is Devastation and EVO, but I just thought I'd throw this out there and see what everyone thinks about maybe hitting this one. If anything, just for kicks...

Hey, Loli Leader, a ranbat is gonna happen either the 1st or 8th of May right? I got a car, GPS, vacation time, AND money! Let's do this. Emperor Paine has also confirmed that he's game for this.
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: LoliSauce April 13, 2010, 11:43:39 PM
Yes, I'm good as well, but my car is still not trustworthy enough for the trip.  I'll have to ride with you.  I checked it out before, the trip is about the same distance as to Bell's place.  Also, I don't remember if I ever responded to your text or not, but I'm down for this weekend.  I have other plans too, but I think I can push that to just Sunday, and leave Sat for us to chill and game.

And for the norcal thing...I dunno if I'm up for that honestly.  It's like an 8 hour drive, man.  That's a pretty gruesome drive, and the gas money spent will be pretty hefty.
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: Macc April 14, 2010, 10:14:35 AM
^^Yeah it may cost just as much to fly to norcal.

Here is a heads up for a few things:
-First they got some LordKnight on this week's SRK podcast talking some MBAA.
-Second there should be a stream up this weekend of MBAA top players from the EC playing each other.  Be good film to watch for Evo.
-Third I am gonna look to do another MBAA x BBCS tourney at GO around 5/15.  Thinking MBAA singles & BBCS 2v2.  Figure this should work around the ranbat date you guys got in AZ, but let me know if this date doesn't work for anyone.  It would be the same deal with equipment as last time if you can help me out again Loli.
-Forth think there should be some Hakkenden casuals going on this Friday for anyone interested in getting in some practice.

OK, point taken about NorCal. But, I'm glad to hear about AZ being good. This weekend being good for you is well, really good! That means that it'll be Paine, you, and myself training this saturday. The training session will be held sometime in the later part of the afternoon. I say about the same time you're usually ready to play Melty, Loli Leader. Which I assume is about late afternoon, early evening time. Paine and I have a few things to take care of in the early afternoon and will keep you updated throughout the day.

If any additional people wanna head to AZ, they will need to provide a ride. The maximum amount of people that my car can hold is 4, driver included. Even then, it'll be a little cramped.

@Macc: Friday practice sounds good to me. I'm assuming it's gonna be held at Greg's place right? Also, the 5/15 tourney date works with me as well.

Yo, sorry if anyone has been trying to get a hold of me or is wondering where the fuck I disappeared to (again, sorry Loli).  As has been mentioned elsewhere, I've been working at my new, totally awesome job.  I've been hard at work learning new shit to be sure my job will be secure, which involved learning a lot of shit on my own time.  In fact, I should be filling out my W4 right now, but I've been lurking here everyday and it's about time I spoke up.

Of course this has cut into my practice time, but I have been diligently watching kaimaato vids and visualizing my setups when I can.  If I can't practice my hands, I'll practice my mind.  I know that I have a bad habit of picking up new games (hey PKMN HeartGold) and getting distracted (Muramasa can I has your babies) but I'll do my best to keep my focus so I practice often.  I really want to win, you guys.  I'm hungry.

That said, shift bids will be coming up soon.  Priority will be given to the top scorers of our tests, and so I've already laid my BigSexyTM love juice all over that.  I'm pretty much guaranteed any shift they offer me.  What days do I need to keep open?  It seems like Fri-Sat are the best bet, but idk if I should grab a Sat-Sun off day schedule instead.  Or maybe some four-tens if they're there?  What do you guys think?

Hmm...so Level 0...

From after reading your post...it sounds like you're pretty serious about Melty...glad to hear it. Alright! When it comes to your days off, we normally practice on fridays and saturdays. So, if you're looking to get the most bang out of your buck, fridays and saturdays off may be the way to go.

I'm sure you read my rather large message to the group already about what it's going to take to win. Since you're one of the few F Koumas out there, we'll be counting on you to lvl up so that way, our group can be a force to be reckoned with come EVO. In return, you can trust us to always improve our game so that way, the team will lvl up as well.

Hmm....so here's the team roster so far....

From Team Hakkenden:

Prinny (Me!)
Emperor Paine (Hakkenden Leader)

From Vegas Melty:

Lolisauce (I think) (Loli Leader)
Level 0, (a.k.a. Adonis, a.k.a. Mid-Boss)
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: LoliSauce April 14, 2010, 11:57:42 PM
Adonis, unless you're looking to start driving and buy a car soon, I won't be able to drive you anywhere cept on sat-sun, as per my work schedule.

How often do you get to bid for shifts?

While getting a car and becoming my own vehicle of destruction IS in my plans of The Adonis Reformation Act (yeah, I've been doing A LOT of thinking lately) I don't forsee that happening any time soon.  I will need to rely on you for transportation, if that's okay.  I intend on helping out via food/gas as much as possible, since that possibility grew from .009 percent to a holycowyoucanbuythingsagain percent.

Shift bids haven't hit us yet, and actually, this weekend is dead to me as I'll be working all the way through Sat.  My temp schedule (for the next week, that's how temporary it is) is Tue-Fri, with this coming Sun-Mon off.  Aside from this shift bid, I've been informed that ANOTHER ONE will show up a month after we've started, since that's when the training class after us has hit the floor.

So Sat-Sun it is, if they're offering it.  Having Sat off takes priority from Sun I can assume?

EDIT: That reminds me, my temp shift (which starts Sat) for me is at night!  Loli, if you want to come by anytime soon (starting this Friday) I won't need to sleep right away so we can hang and stuff after work.  (Sun I need to visit my mom, though, she's in the hospital)

EDIT EDIT:
Level 0, (a.k.a. Adonis, a.k.a. Mid-Boss)
I'm seriously considering changing my name again.

Okay, here goes.

I'm on, I vanish, just the way things always seem to be. Anyway, when I was able to I've been practicing, knowing what lies ahead at EVO. I know it's gonna get hectic up in there so I've been trying to get better, though if any of you have talked with Level 0 you'd know that for the past week I've been at the hospital watching after my mom. Probably won't be able to get back to practicing till I'm guessing next week, maybe later maybe sooner.

I've been wanting to step up my game as much as possible since that last tournament I was at. Hearing people telling me I've improved makes me feel like I can actually keep the momentum going and hold my own, but this isn't enough so I'm hoping to get leagues better than where I'm at right now. Like Prinny said, defense game for Vegas needs to get stepped up, and this goes double for me since I was humiliated by his unblockables with Ryougi. *Fist shake*

I'm all for it if anyone thinks I can make it to represent the Vegas team, but I know there's still a lot to improve on. When the day comes I want to shine as bright as I can. No more hiding potential, no more sitting back and letting opportunities like this pass by for stupid reasons, I'm determined more than ever now to make this happen.

Also, cheesy speech is cheesy. |3

And with Oni joining the ranks, our meager little desert squad of 5 sallies forth on their journey to take on the world...

MELTY VEGAS!!!
:prinny: :prinny: :prinny: :prinny: :prinny:

Good stuff Oni, glad you decided to join the team. You have a solid White Len already. With a few tweaks here and there and some more matches against other characters (don't worry, I got that covered), you will be beastly.

Taking care of family is important, I hope your mother gets well soon.

Do not worry if you can't make it to the May 8th tourney ranbat. We'll all continue to train after that regardless of the outcome so that way we can all be prepared in singles. MAYBE, if we're lucky and if it works with everyone, maybe we can postpone the qualifier till Devastation. I know it's a stretch, considering everyone's schedules, but at least ALL the NV contenders will be there.

I know that I'm perhaps sounding a little too optimistic, but I think this crew is gonna do some spectacular things come this EVO...singles or teams.

Just as I mentioned to LoliSauce (doesn't look like he relayed it in this thread, maybe in person?), it would be helpful if people bring their own bedding to the house if they want to stay. We don't really have blankets to spare. There's a loveseat, a couch, two recliners, and a large tile floor to sleep on. bellreisa and Spidey are coming, dunno if they are claiming first dibs. Hey guys.  I don't know what the word is on the meet-up this week, but I've a feeling I won't be able to make it this time.  After getting home from AZ, that morning when I went to work I did my usual - bought some breakfast at JitB since there wasn't time for much else (and there's never food in my house these days), and lo and behold none of it stayed in me.

I've been sick for 3 days, the only one I actually was at work for some time was Sun - which I stayed until 1pm (when my shift ends at 8).  I also neglected to take advantage of the shift bid that hit the floor recently so my schedule's not changing anytime soon.  I've been meaning to post/call but tonight is the first time I've been awake and not in the bathroom long enough to do so.  Being heavily medicated sucks balls - I miss the days when you could stay home sick and play videogames all day.

Anyway, so I'm taking this weekend off.  Gonna rest some more and hopefully I'll earn enough vacation time to take Evo AND Devastation off, if not then I'll just set it up for Evo and you guys will have to rep Vegas @ Devastation without me.

Weekend of June 20 for Devastation, right?  I'm gonna put in my vacation requests pretty soon.

You know I'm always good for a setup.

Also I don't think I remembered last time, but MBAA tourneys usually have a "loser can switch character, winner can switch moon style" rule.  However, because of Evo rules being set with only loser can change anything, you can set it that way too.  Both rulings are acceptable (and really, most of us aren't playing multiple moon styles of the same character anyway, so it won't be an issue if it's set to Evo rules).

My bad.  I always figured the "loser can switch character, winner can switch moon style" was kinda an unspoken rule in these deals like how it was in 3s or now with SSF4.  Usually these are Evo rules (or always have been in the past for 3s so not sure why they changed this for MBAA), but I will be going with the "loser can switch character, winner can switch moon style".  I'll update my post above to reflect that.  Other than that I was going to say that if you wanna post this in the official tournament thread go for it, but I would recommend you do so under yours or Prinny's screen names since you guys have more sway in the MB community.  As an FYI myself or someone else will be trying to do these GO monthlies every month so I will keep you guys posted.  I will be switching the games around each month so it may not always be MBAA, but as long as you guys wanna play it I will keep trying to work it into the rotation.

I noticed some guys on SRK talking negatively about including Melty because of the small showing.  Right now, it's pretty much still guaranteed that it'll be small unless people drive in from out of state (not incredibly likely), so I hope it doesn't cause any problems.

Anyway, Bell's looking to host something the weekend after Devastation, for the people who aren't really planning to go to it (with the lack of accommodation for Melty by the host).  So I wanted to see what you all thought about making that in addition to Devastation.  It'd be two weeks in a row of road tripping though, so I don't blame if it's a no-go.  Get back to me on it though.  Here's the thread for more details. Well crap. Didn't get an e-mail from this thread and it looks like that W-Len video was taken out or something. I dunno.

Anyway, lol @ GO monthlies being on my birthday. Maybe it's a sign? |3 Anyway, been stepping up my game even more so we'll see how things turn out if I can manage to get there that day. Not sure if anyone here would mind me doing so since it'd be my birthday and all.

It'd be cool if you could make it to Bell's tourney in late June too.

Well I can try and see what I can do, but I'll need to know a few things first. First one being if I should be bringing money, since you know, I don't really have much that I can honestly say is my own and I'd have to... oy... ask for some.
Second would be checking to see if my mom could handle things by herself here for the few days I'll be gone, or if someone else could take care of her in my stead for the weekend.
The other stuff would just be finding out what to bring and such if I actually get the okay to be heading out with you guys.

EDIT:
Also, god dammit, don't think I didn't notice that custom title added on.

LOL, well thats more like one person, Rojo aka Larry aka Zamba aka Pro Hater.  Anytime you post anything he will try to hate on it.  Especially when ever myself or any posts about a tourney.  He wouldn't really be satisfied unless the tournament layout was Tekken Tag, T5DR, & T6.  Even tho you guys don't have a huge crew, I can count on at least 90% of you guys showing up for a tourney which is not something I can say for the other crews.  So this is why I don't mind running MBAA.  Like myself I just recommend you do not take his comments seriously and think of them as the comical rantings or your steroetypical forum troll.

@Oni

Don't worry dood! I got the video saved on my comp. The next time we meet, I'll have it as a file for you.  :prinny:

@Loli

:o Hot DAMN I'll be busy. First Devastation and THEN the WC alliance pre-evo meeting? I might be worn out from Devastation but more practice to prepare against EC and the rest of the world would only be beneficial. I mean, we were all tired when we got to AZ, and we did alright. This time I'll be SURE to take lots of footage for just in case.

Loli, I would like to request that either next weekend (tourney weekend) or perhaps this weekend we can talk about meeting up with the rest of the WC.

@Paine

Since you're part of MELTY VEGAS let us know what would be most convenient for you in regards to discussing this recent turn of events.

If The Tsukihime Anime is HF Blade, I read his post about us wanting to show up to Bell's gathering....he's a cool dood...

:teach: :teach: :teach: Friendly reminder GO_ Monthly #1 this Saturday @ GO_ starting at 2pm.  Figure we will start MBAA at 2pm and then get BBCS & SSF4 going around 3pm (remember this is Vegas so there is a good chance it can get held up due to waiting for people).  GO_ opens at 10 am, but I should be there around noon to start setting up and get some practice in.  Paine said he would bring my extra PS2 along with some extra pads.  I don't think we will need a third PS2, but if you would bring your component cables and an extra copy of the game Loli that would be super awesome.  If anyone needs a ride or any more info give me a holler.  See you guys there!  :teach: :teach: :teach:

: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: Macc June 22, 2010, 07:29:26 AM
^^ Most likely.  It worked last time and gave everyone a chance to watch all the matches.  I may be bringing down a CRT television for 3s as well so if this is the case I will be setting up MBAA on this as well since CRT will most likely be the display they use at Evo.  This also means that 3s may be added to the list of games this Saturday as well for anyone interested (although this is still up in the air).

Remember everyone this is the last one before Evo so be there and get your practice on.

OK wanted to keep you guys in the loop on a few thangs:

-Animeland Vegas this weekend will NOT be run by the GO_ guys due to conflicts with management. I don't know who is running this now, but they did just post up the schedule today. Currently the tournaments being run are Smash, T6, SSF4, & UFC 2010 and are all on Sunday. Here is the schedule: http://api.ning.com/files/ UKOnUPPD...Kh0g/sunday.png.  This may be a good oppertunity to spread some MBAA exposure.  I have a feeling I will probly run into you there Loli.

-As for the monthlies, I am still working on getting a new location since GO_ closed its physical location. I originally had Gameworld picked out, but they decided they are going to run their own tourneis for SSF4. I let them know about the Tekken scene here, but they said that until they saw a demand they would only be doing SSF4 on a biweekly basis. I will keep you guys in the know on this.
: Re: Melty Vegas and Evo Thread
: Prinny July 25, 2010, 06:48:00 AM
Hey guys, how's everyone in the Vegas community been? Been a while since I posted so I figured now would be a good time...

I'm sure everyone here has heard that Arcana Heart 3 is coming out this winter, so I'm wondering who in the community is going to pick up the game. As far as I know, the following people are already looking to pick that game up:

Prinny (Me!)
Level 0 (The Dark Adonis!)
Emperor Paine
Punisher (aka the VSion player)

I know that Emperor Paine and I are going to pick up the game and play it pretty seriously, especially since it's going to have netplay as well. So, I know that it's only been a week after EVO, but if possible I would like to know who within our community is looking to play the game either casually or seriously.

About EVO...

To all of Melty Vegas who went out there and competed, thanks for coming out there and repping our little community. Also, thanks to those within the community who simply came out there to cheer on the members who were competing. Even though AH3 is coming out, MBAA will still be played for sure. I hope and pray that our community continues to get stronger and that even more of our members consider competing at next year's EVO.

If anyone wants to play MBAA for kicks or for training, or just wanna talk about Melty in general, please don't hesitate to post. (If that ain't obvious already, lol)  :slowpoke:

August 14th, eh?  My older bro's birthday is the day before that, so he'll probably do something on Sat.  If not, then I'd be down for some Melty if someone is willing to run it.  I have no idea how brackets work, else I'd run it myself (also I'd need a ride coughcoughimahobocough...)

I really want to try Arcana some more before I really decide if I like it enough, even though I did find the character I'd like to main already.  That flying/homing mechanic is really weird.  Cool, but weird.

I'm already super hype for KOFXIII, so whenever that shit comes out, I'll be on that for sure.

Please take a look if you're interested in a Melty Blood tournament on August 28, 2010. Also, please tell me, as this is important, if you'd like to money match someone from California and be on the stream.

At the moment, I'm looking to see if I can get Xie versus Yat. I think, if Bellreisa comes, he might be interested, too, but I need to contact all these individuals and ask them if they would be willing to do so.

Please post in the norcal install thread or here if you're interested.

Thank you.

So far the tenative schedule will be SSF4, BBCS, & ST starting at 4pm and then T6 once BBCS or SSF4 finishes up. Please if you guys can (cause I am not sure about how much cash on hand the guys at this place have), but try to bringing some smaller bills other than $20s. Also as an FYI in the case the equipment with the supergun has issues, the ST tourney will be switched over to the Dreamcast version. We will have two PS2 to DC convertors to use if this is the case.

Hey guys I highly suggest we all start going to Gemini Arcade to show the owner that we are interested in getting fighting game arcade machines here in Vegas. I talked to her and she said if there is interest she will be getting KOF XIII, SSFIV, etc all with HD cabs. She has been looking into this but no one that plays fighters really goes there. They do have 1 HDTV and let you bring your console to play. You can also bring your own setups to play as well (console and monitor). They do not charge for you going there and playing on your own setups. Also, the place is pretty big and has room to spare. Holding future get togethers or tournaments there would be great!!! Let's show them we're interested and get it poppin over there.

Yo, I'm gonna try swinging by here sometime to see what it's like.  Anyone down to check it out with me?  It's right next to the UNLV apparently (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Sandhill+Square++4180+South+Sandhill+Road++Suites+B-3+%26+B-4++Las+Vegas,+NV+89121&sll=36.209282,-115.229282&sspn=0.008518,0.01929&ie=UTF8&hq=Sandhill+Square+4180+South+Sandhill+Road+Suites+B-3+%26+B-4&hnear=Las+Vegas,+Clark,+Nevada+89121&ll=36.112223,-115.13011&spn=0.034115,0.077162&z=14), and it's free to just set up and play there I guess.

Also, Vagabond, when do you have free time?  I dunno if you have work or school or anything, so I'm unsure of when to call (and is the phone a house phone?).

Well, guess I should mention that I lost my job on Friday.  John and Paine, I don't think I mentioned anything about it on Saturday.  I was/am still pretty depressed about it.  I have a very good chance of getting another job within the next month at Clear (where Adonis works), but I would still appreciate it a ton if you guys could keep your ears open for any decent job opportunities (even just short term temporary things).  Thanks.

On the upside, I pretty much have no reason not to miss next weekend's tournament, though I won't be competing in anything.

Sorry to hear about that Loli. I'm out of work right now too and it sucks. Best of luck to you though, I'm sure you'll find something.  :toot:

Thanks for the kind words brother, and best of luck to you as well.  Put in dat effort and I'm sure you'll pull in a job quick enough.  Looking for a job is practically a job in itself, so if you work at it well it pays off!  I'm already working towards a couple possibilities via Craigslist, so hopefully I'll have good news soonish.

Reminder of the tourney this Saturday @ 8Wire beginning at 4pm.  Be there.

@ Loli:  What kinda work you do?  It seems that MGMMIRAGE has been hiring lately, especially in their IT department.  I think two more positions may be opening up soon if your interested.

IT and Data Entry were primarily what I'm looking for, since it's good pay.  You know people in MGM?  I'm definitely down for an IT job for a casino.  What's pay look like?

Yeah, still looking.  I went onto the MGM site recently and there wasn't anything for IT, but I'll keep an eye on it.  Thanks man.

Yeah just keep an eye on the site.  It normally takes them a bit before they post those items up on the site, but I know some stuff should be opening up soon.
