Revival of the South
« on: September 07, 2007, 07:06:04 PM »
Any Southern players in this joint?  I mean, prolly not, as the south nowadays is mostly Halo, but i thought i'd ask.  I play SSBM, GGXX, KoFXI, and MBAC, which I'm kind of new at.  My only experience with the game is i won Anime Weekend Atlanta's tourney in 2005.  C'mon, gamers of the south, and rally under my thread, should you exist.   :blah:

yes, it does count!  glad to see you post in my thread.  anyone know why the fighting game community for the south is so small?

It's not small, so much as it's spread out.

On top of being spread out, here in Florida, doujin fighter support is nearly 0. You'll probably see 1 or maybe 2 events that actually hold tournaments for Melty about once every two years or so. Currently in South Florida, it's just me, Midas and pc1x1 actually trying to play Melty at a competitive level.

So far, all I've seen played in South FL are as follows

CvS2
MvC2
3rd Strike
GGXX^C
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Naruto: Gegitou Ninja Taisen 4

At one time we tried to bring Melty into the spotlight and it failed miserably...  :slowpoke:

Yea that will change, We'll put some $$ and maybe I can give away a stick or something, we'll get something rolling, but ye, down here its dead, and the only true competitive player is Rabies, Midas was getting there, but is out of practice, and I been scrubbing away, because I more old school in my fighters, and have to adapt, and also haven't had time to practice due to work, school, and stick building.

I guess I'm not the only one in the south who plays MeltyBlood. Hopefully someone will respond, but until then I will continue with my deity duties.

Guys, remember to fill out your profile so that your location shows up when you make a post. It helps a lot when trying to get together and trying to figure out who's from where. See my header? California.

Wow, I just realized that this thread exists, even though its a bit old.

South Carolina player here (although native to SoCal ;D).  Located near Charleston at a naval base.  Not too good, but I take the game more seriously than all my other games.  One of my neighbors is very interested in the game too, so thats 2 in SC.

Hi, I'm in Georgia. I know one other person here who might be serious about melty. Well, i guess ill try to get to Anime Weekend Atlanta next year and see if i can play some matches with you guys in person.  are there any other melty events in the southeast.  I'm not very good now but I'm working hard to become a competitive player so if you guys want to get together in one place and play some melty let me know.

Come join my hamachi room MBAC SE. password=meltybread and let me know your a South East player when you join.

By the way, my friends and I hold a 1 1/2 day semi annual convention at Columbus State University in GA and the next one should be in about 5 months i think. Its a general convention but we have a game room that includes both free play and tournaments.  If you guys are interested I think We could get together then and play melty for as long as you want.  Ill probably be there for the entire 1 1/2 days and ill be happy to give you my contact info.  It would be good if you could bring your own PCs/ps2s and copy's of melty. Not many copies to go around down here.  You could also check out the convetion why your there and if there is enough interest i could probably arrange for a tournament with a modest amount of prize money(gas money to get back home anyone : ;D ).

Also, since it will be rather busy and crowded during the convention if you'd like to set up another time to play some melty that would be awesome.  either in Columbus or in one of your towns.  Im kinda poor though so ill have trouble getting together the money for a road trip. ill do my best for some good melty though.

Well, I'm glad to know there are actually some serious melty players in the South East. I look forward to playing some melty with you guys. Cya around.

I just read the how not to run a tournament thread under tournaments and events and i must say im scared. Man they ripped that guy to shreds(shivers). if I do run some kinda melty tournament at our next convention it will probably be a small affair. the main point is that hopefully we can get together and do some local vs play. Thanks a lot.

Me and a couple of my friends play too and live close/in Memphis(I live in Southaven MS, literally 5 minutes from Memphis) so maybe we can play sometime cause we've been looking for others in the area to play against.  Hit me up on AIM sometime =x

Yo, are there any TN Melty players out there? I play plenty of fighters, but, I haven't seen one serious melty player in my neck of the woods. If anyone in M town or TN play this game, give a holla!!
