Hi. I'm new to the forums.
I'm in Seattle, Washington and I'm looking for any MB players up here in the Northwest. I haven't seen any posts about people up here, so.. if you happen to be nearby, leave a note!

Great! I live in Redmond but I'm very mobile; I'm up for gatherings of any type, on short notice. Especially Issaquah and Renton, that's nearby.

Sakuracon! I was there this year and fought some random guy on ReAct displayed on one of the booths. He said he played, and I gave him my phone in case he wanted to get together sometime but he never called. I wonder if that's anyone here.
I'll definitely support a tourney next year, if there's one.

It was probably one of the guys at #srm or #douzingakuen. Might have even been Qaenyin....who is the one organizing it for the next Sakuracon, I believe.

The guys at #srm and #douzingakuen, (the guy you met was probably one of them) play a good deal less serious than us at #mbac, but they're good for fights and matches and stuff if you're just beginning.

I think Veteru wants to plan something soon (before evo, which is last week of august), and you're definitely close to....well, everyone almost, and we'd always enjoy a new player. Where it will be, I don't know, Veteru said something like it would depend on where people are coming from to go to it (like portland).

(There's also a Guilty Gear group who meets regularly in redmond but they're all like pro and leet and stuff so don't go there :x)

But if there's something going down, we'll tell you (and everyone else in this topic)

PAX is this weekend, and I'm planning on going all 3 days. I made a separate thread about this here earlier in the week to which no one replied; I guess I should have maybe posted about it here too but I didn't want to spam. Anyway if someone watching this topic is planning to go and wants to meet up for some verB (on short notice now), post here.

Sylvan, were you the Aoko player at sakura con?

Too bad I wasn't able to play veteru at mbac last week because we didn't have usb adapter for the laptop :/

No, I wasn't the Aoko player. The only place I saw MB was in one of the store booths in the exhibition area, and it was ReAct without the boss hack, so there was no Aoko to play. The guy in charge of the booth took it off not long after 2 or 3 games. I played a Shiki and a Ren (I think), and I left my phone number with the guy I played with.

oh~~ I see, I think qaenyin got it set up in the gaming room for a few matches during sakura con.  But it was hard to find a Japanese ps2 for it and stuff.

Hello!  I'm from Tacoma.  Veteru recommended me this site, but I see that he is not here lol!  I do not know how to use irc!  Anyways, I am also a friend of aaron.  I use Red Arcueid and V. Sion pretty well, and I just started playing Tohno Akiha.  Nice to meet you all.

Me and a few other guys meet up and play some GG, MB, or 3rd Strike frequently in Federal Way or Tacoma.  PM my if you are interested.

cause a ps2 or any usb keyboard won't do, you need THE PRO KEYBOARDER'S KEYBOARD + THE ADAPTER (what the fuck anyway is it like that weird keyboard only plug and then they actually made a converter for that to ps2? wowwww lol)

yeah XD  the main reason for the ps2 to keyboard is so I can play accent core, and also it'll probably be tourny legal so that I can't control both sides with the keyboard xP

Hey...new here (finally have internet to post with). In Kent with a couple of friends who play (except not quite tourney level). Sylvan, you played me at Sak-con and now PAX. Hard as heck to find time to play though cause I just moved and a busy work schedule.

I'm going to be holding a tournament at Sakuracon '08 assuming I have money and a place to live at the time *chuckles*.

I do intend to have prizes(not money, but fairly pricey nonetheless probably), if money permits.  Maybe figurines or something, or perhaps a copy of Ver. B PC.  Who knows.

At the moment I intend to have it on the PS2 version, but if someone has a PC they wouldnt mind bringing that is an option, and would save me about 200$ in setting it up.

I have a laptop and an additional monitor we can use, also PS2 adaptor/pads for 2 players. I'd be more than glad to provide the stuff if it's handled with care. Only thing I don't really have are portable speakers, my only ones at home require the fat subwoofer that comes with them.

We should have Ver.B, rather than the PS2 version. Surely someone else can cooperate too?

And Zeyl, hi. I hadn't seen your post. Finally, we meet again!

Well if we do this on PC the only difficulty we will have is double keyboard players :|

Personally I have nothing against keyboarders but that could cause issues if we have too many of em.

Anyways, aside from that, I intend rules to be 99 sec rounds, 3 round matches, best out of 3.  Double elimination.  All characters allowed.

For controllers anything goes provided it does not have macros other than the MB defaults(quickaction, AB, AD, ABC) or a turbo function.  Mapping for the MB default hotkeys is fine, nothing else.  If you want to use your controller bring the driver disc.

Buuuut thats in late march, so long time still to go to arrange these things if theyre possible.  Nice t' meet yall.

There's no real way to handle double keyboard players. Even if we had multiple USB keyboards (I have 1, the other player could use the laptop keyboard, which is meh but it's an option), the computer will use inputs from both keyboards as a single one, so there'll be nothing from preventing one player from controlling the other. I don't know if someone else has discovered a way around that. Either way, yeah there's still time.

Anyone meeting regularly with MB players?

My Keyboard > ps2 adapter works great, and if there's any lag it's barely noticeable.  Although I'm only bringing it if Sakura Con tourney allows custom controllers (which I doubt).  A possible solution may be to make sure the keyboard players don't have to face each other in the brackets?

Also, what do you guys think of fusing with ggxx meets?  We've actually got a lot of ggxx players that are also willing to play mbac on the side.

Sylvan, can you drive? xP  Because if you can we'd probably be able to arrange something with S-blade and me.  And Veteru would likely want to come too.
